Abstract:
Tourism is one of the fastest-growing and most visible sectors of the global economy, contributing significantly to boosting a nation’s economy. Currently, tourism-led economic growth considering sustainable approaches is becoming increasingly important in public policy. Recent urban and regional studies have begun to focus on the sustainability of tourism from social, economic, environmental, and cultural perspectives. The research aims to identify the most important issues and barriers to sustainable tourism development in Uzbekistan and proposes the most effective culturalization strategies to overcome those barriers. This paper involves the application of Global RPM (Globalization, Rationality, Professionalism, and Morality) analysis in combination with SANEL HERMES (Sightseeing, Admission paying, Night touring, Experiencing, Learning, Healing, Enjoying, Rest and Relaxing, Memento shopping, Eating and Drinking, and Staying) model based on data from a variety of sources, including literature review, participation interview, tourist survey, and expert questionnaire to identify and classify influencing factors that show existing barriers to sustainable tourism in Uzbekistan. Finally, a set of culturalization strategies is proposed, evaluated, and ranked by experts using a Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix. The results of the survey have shown that tourism activities are currently not sustainable in a satisfactory manner. However, if the policymakers consider the relevant strategies and take this study into account, as well as its findings, then Uzbekistan can be made more attractive in terms of sustainable tourism.

Military-sports tourism in Uzbekistan has emerged as a growing sector, yet its development is still in its early stages, with many untapped opportunities. Despite the country's rich natural and cultural resources, the lack of structured programs and limited awareness hampers its potential. This study addresses the gap by analyzing the current state of military-sports tourism and identifying areas for improvement. Utilizing qualitative methods, including interviews and document analysis, the research uncovers key challenges, such as inadequate infrastructure and minimal promotion efforts. Findings reveal that, while the sector is supported by government initiatives, more focused strategies are needed to enhance international and domestic tourist flow. The results highlight the importance of a comprehensive regulatory framework and targeted investment to improve tourism outcomes. Abstract:
Uzbekistan is an emerging tourism destination that has experienced a strong increase in tourist numbers since 2017. However, as little research on tourism development in Uzbekistan exists to date, this study analyzes possible research topics and proposes a tourism research agenda for the country. A mix of methods was used, consisting of participant observation, semi-structured qualitative expert interviews and qualitative content analysis. The results revealed a range of research gaps in different areas which could be synthesized into a total of ten fields, clustered into three overarching areas – namely market research, management, and culture and the environment. The subordinate research fields identified are demand, statistics, potential, governance, products, infrastructure and development, marketing, heritage and nation-building, sustainability, and peace and conflict prevention. A strategic research plan based on this tourism research agenda could help foster a purposeful scientific debate. Tourism research in these fields has the potential both to investigate and compare theoretical issues in a unique context and to produce applicable results that can make a relevant contribution to tourism development in Uzbekistan.

Abstract:
Medical tourism is a growing niche market with huge potential as the 6th industry of medical services, including an unforgettable trip. Due to these advantages, Uzbekistan hopes to be a leader in central Asia concerning medical tourism. Contrary to this ambitious goal, Uzbekistan patients still prefer going abroad for medical services. Therefore, in order for Uzbekistan to be a hub for medical tourism, the sustainable governance factors of medical tourism need to be found for local patients going overseas. Under this research motivation, this study evaluates how the medical, tourism, and information sharing factors influence behavioral intention based on the structural equation model (SEM) with a random sample of 498 residents in Uzbekistan. Perceived value and behavioral intention are used as a mediating variable and a dependent variable, respectively. The main findings are summarized as follows. First, the medical factor and information sharing are very important factors for behavioral intention, with high coefficient values of 0.399 and 0.516, respectively, while the tourism factor is not influential on the behavioral intention statistically. This implies that Uzbekistani patients do not consider tourism factors as a core condition, instead focusing on the service quality of the medical operation and convenience for foreign patients. Second, in the indirect model, we found that perceived value takes a fully mediating role between medical factors and behavioral intention, while it takes a partially mediating role between information sharing and behavioral intention, implying that strong promotion policies are required for the advantages of tourism and enhanced access to information.

The most favourable solution for improving tourists visiting flow in Uzbekistan, both locals and foreigners, is enhancing the popularity of the wellness tourism. And, of course we need a perfect example for that, meaningly we can take one certain country which is already great in the wellness branch of the tourism field. In our case, it is the South Korea. Based on the research that has been done, it is known that South Korea mostly offers stress revealing activities which are seen in their unique spa centers, special cafes and nature made destinations. Uzbekistan is also developing in this field with its picturesque spots which do not allow any tourist to pass them by. Uzbekistan needs to improve all the possible facilities that it already has and make these destinations more popular. We should not focus only on the beauty of the nature made destinations but also make a great benefit and profit of them in order to improve the tourism field in Uzbekistan.
