Several diagnostic tools were used to differentiate the yeast isolates, including microscopic examination, culture morphology on CHROM agar, further confirmation with the VITEK 2 system, and ITS1 and ITS4 region sequencing. Abstract Introduction Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome Type 1 (APS-1) is a rare autoimmune disorder with a prevalence of 1 in 2-3 million births. It is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by loss of function mutation of the Auto- Immune REgulator gene (AIRE gene) on chromosome 21. It leads to formation of autoantibodies to various hormonal, connective tissue, and protein antigens. It is characterized by the presence of two of the following three cardinal features: chronic muco-cutaneous candidiasis, hypoparathyroidism, and Addison's disease (primary adrenal insufficiency). Vaginal microbiota plays a crucial role in women's reproductive health, and its composition varies throughout different stages of life. In particular, pregnancy alters the vaginal microbiota, with Lactobacillus spp. being predominant in healthy pregnant women. Menopause leads to changes in the vaginal microbiota due to declining estrogen levels, characterized by reduced Lactobacillus sp. and increased diversity of other bacteria, potentially contributing to health issues, such as vaginal dryness and increased susc

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is one of the most prevalent fungal infections worldwide, affecting millions of women annually, particularly those of reproductive age. The infection is primarily caused by Candida albicans, although non-albicans Candida (NAC) species such as C. glabrata, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. krusei are increasingly implicated in clinical cases. Various factors, including hormonal fluctuations, antibiotic use, immunosuppression, diabetes mellitus, and changes in vaginal microbiota composition, contribute to fungal overgrowth and infection.
