Validation is an applied approach to verify that a method is suitable to function as a quality control tool. The objective of any analytical measurement is to obtain consistent, reliable and accurate data. Validated analytical methods play a major role in achieving this goal. An analytical method consists of the techniques, method, procedure and protocol. Analytical method validation includes the determination of accuracy, precision, LOD, LOQ, linearity and range. The results from method validation can be used to moderator the quality, reliability and consistency of analytical results, which i

Unlike other chapters in this book, where maps are validated by comparison with other maps with better resolution and/or quality, this approach requires a ground sample dataset, i.e. a set of sites where LUC can be observed in the field or interpreted from high-resolution imagery. Map error is assessed using techniques based on statistical sampling. In general terms, in this approach, the accuracy of single LUC maps is assessed by comparing the thematic map against the refer

In this study, we established a calculation model for radial wear based on the CSM formula and abrasive wear mechanisms. Experimental validation of the wear mechanism confirmed that abrasive wear is the primary mechanism responsible for disc cutter wear. The predictive model was subjected to engineering validation, where the calculated values from the model were compared and analyzed against actual on-site measurements. Abstract:
The digital twin used in this research is a mechanistic (or deterministic) computer model that represents the cathodic protection behavior of a pipeline network. The model is calibrated based on field data such that it mimics the real-world behavior of the pipeline. The objective of this research is to validate the accuracy of the digital twin model on three industry cases. First, the sensitivity of the independent variables (soil, coating and cathodic protection properties) that are the inputs of the digital twin was investigated during a literature study, a lab and field-based modeling on a

Abstract:
The main purpose of this project is to provide technical guidance for the practical implementation of the measurement performance validation methodologies outlined in the API RP 1163 2021 Edi- tion (API 1163-2021), which include three levels of validation: Level 1: The vendor specification is used to define measurement performance with little or no field validation. This level typically applies to ILI systems that have been proven in the past on pipelines that have previous ILI baselines for comparison. Level 2: The vendor specification is tested against field-measured anomalies by calculating

Abstract:
The overall objective was to determine the accuracy, resolution, and limitations of equipment typically used for modern aboveground ECDA work with respect to locating holidays and disbondments with commonly used coatings with varying spatial relationships and geometrical configurations. The specific tasks of this program were the following: 1. Perform aboveground coating surveys on several underground pipelines using at least four (4) different survey techniques - DCVG, ACVG, PCM, Cscan, and Pearson surveys were performed. 2. Compare the results of the surveys with visual examinations of the c
