Abstract:
PurposeOpen innovation communities are a growing trend across diverse industries because they provide opportunities of collaborating with customers and exploiting their knowledge effectively. Although open innovation communities can be strategic assets that can help firms innovate, firms nonetheless face the challenge of information overload incurred due to the characteristic of the community. The purpose of this paper is to mitigate the problem of information overload in an open innovation environment.Design/methodology/approachThis study chose MyStarbucksIdea.com (MSI) as a target open innovation community in which customers share their ideas. The authors analyzed a large data set collected from MSI utilizing text mining techniques including TF-IDF and sentiment analysis, while considering both term and non-term features of the data set. Those features were used to develop classification models to calculate the adoption probability of each idea.FindingsThe results showed that term and non-term features play important roles in predicting the adoptability of ideas and the best classification accuracy was achieved by the hybrid classification models. In most cases, the precisions of classification models decreased as the number of recommendations increased, while the models’ recalls and F1s increased.Originality/valueThis research dealt with the problem of information overload in an open innovation context. A large amount of customer opinions from an innovation community were examined and a recommendation system to mitigate the problem was proposed. Using the proposed system, the firm can get recommendations for ideas that could be valuable for its business innovation in the idea generation phase, thereby resolving the information overload and enhancing the effectiveness of open innovation.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to test the idea generation capabilities of online text-based focus groups as compared to the traditional in-person focus groups using sustainability in the hospitality industry as the idea generation topic. Idea generation quantity and quality are analyzed and the theoretical and practical implications for the hospitality industry are discussed. Design/methodology/approach An experimental study tested the quality of ideas generated by online versus in-person focus groups. Participants were purposively sampled from the hospitality program at a large southeastern United States university and randomly assigned into one of two treatment groups: online text-based or traditional in-person focus groups. During both treatment groups participants generated ideas focused on sustainability in the hospitality industry. Findings The online focus group generated a comparable quantity of ideas, in addition to a similar average quality of ideas and number of good ideas. Practical implications The generation of ideas and the selection of opportunities drive the innovation process through which firms can strengthen their competitive advantage and maintain and grow market share and profitability. The results of this study may assist hospitality firms in determining which form of qualitative research delivers the highest return on investment by generating the best ideas at the lowest cost. Originality/value This paper breaks new ground by assessing the effectiveness of idea generation in online versus traditional focus groups, comparing both the quantity and quality of ideas generated from an experimental study that uses random assignment.

In one week, classes begin. Your principal has assigned you a different course to teach. The course has been taught for a number of years with the same textbook and by the same teacher; however, you never taught it. You are handed a textbook, teacher's guide, and test masters and are told to do your best. How do you feel? Are you confident that you can do your best? Do you have the necessary resources? I believe that one additional resource will help tremendously as you prepare for the year. A course diary will answer questions about how a course is taught in your particular school; those questions are not addressed in a teacher's guide.

Abstract:
Introduction. The relevance of the present research is determined by the need to create a system of measures to support and develop the institution of fatherhood, the formation of parental competence, effective models of paternal behaviour among modern youth and insufficient study of this phenomenon from psychological positions. The problem of the research is to resolve the contradiction between the requirement of modern society to form a value-positive attitude towards fatherhood among students’ youth and the need to identify psychological factors in the formation of ideas about fatherhood, parental attitudes, motivation for parenthood, and acceptance of the father’s role at the stage of entering adulthood. The aim of the research is to reveal the interrelation of ideas about fatherhood (“ideal father”, “I am an expectant father”) with gender, age and structure of valuable orientations among modern students.Methodology and research methods. The theoretical and methodological framework of the research is based on cultural-historical theory of development of the psyche and the doctrine of psychological age by L. S. Vygotsky; age-psychological approach to the analysis of mental development in ontogenesis (by L. S. Vygotsky, D. B. Elkonin, L. I. Bozhovich, O. A. Karabanova,E. I. Zakharova, G. V. Burmenskaya, et al.); the doctrine of the indicative activities by P. Y. Galperin. The research methods involve theoretical-methodological literature analysis, questionnaire method, psycho-diagnostic methods, and mathematical and statistical data processing methods.Results. The authors described and compared the content of ideas about fatherhood among young men and young women depending on the structure of valuable orientations at different stages of age development. Three homogeneous clusters were identifi using divisive clustering of an empirical sample:1) orientation towards the values of professional self-realisation (193 respondents, 17.8%); 2) orientation towards gnostic and aesthetic values (274 respondents, 25.2%); 3) orientation towards the values of personal life (619 respondents, 57%). The interrelation of ideas about fatherhood (“ideal father”, “I am an expectant father”) with gender, age, and structure of valuable orientations of modern students is revealed. The image of the ideal father is generally characterised by fragmentary and incomplete representations, and, in some cases, by cognitive distortions.Scientific novelty of the research is to reveal the interrelation of ideas about fatherhood with the structure of valuable orientations of young men and women in adolescence and early adulthood.Practical significance. The obtained results actualise the importance and necessity of psychological and pedagogical support of the process of family self-determination of students, the formation of complete and adequate ideas about fatherhood allowing for the development of its educational potential in the conditions of the educational environment of the university.

Abstract:
Alternative ideas, defined as faulty or incomplete understandings of scientific concepts, are prevalent among students across all age groups and educational levels. In physics, misconceptions often arise from everyday experiences, intuitive reasoning, and oversimplified analogies. The persistence of misconceptions in students’ understanding of physics concepts can hinder learning and compromise scientific literacy. Consequently, research on alternative ideas has emerged as a critical aspect of science education, informing teaching strategies and curriculum development. At the beginning of this research, a brief historical report is presented on how research began in the field of the didactic of physics. Then a report is presented with research that led to the identification of alternative ideas at various levels of education. Finally, modern studies on the alternative ideas on the concepts of physics and their conclusions are presented and highlight the timeless necessity of the scientific research of alternative ideas and students’ perceptions of physics concepts, proving how valuable it is for physics education in the search for this topic.

Abstract:
This article explores the ideas and ideals of asceticism by analysing the description of the ascetic practices and the āśrama in the Budhhacarita of Aśvaghoṣa. Although kāvya literature paints vivid pictures in front of our eyes and can give us valuable historical information, usually scholars and historians undermine its potential as a source to study the past. The kāvyas are vibrant than usually thought about and gives more chance and content to a historian to analyse and contextualise. The Buddhacarita of Aśvaghoṣa is an earliest extant kāvya work and a testimony of the fact that literature allows a poet to describe, comment, mock and sometimes reflect over the ideas and ideals of the society which he lives in. Through a very compelling narrative, Aśvaghoṣa presents the story of Sarvārthasiddha’s journey to enlightenment and his first-hand experience of what ascetic resolves are, how ascetics live, what are their goals and aspirations and finally the realisation that this old treaded path is not going to help him. The article analyses Sarvārthasiddha’s search for true recluse and tries to understand dialogues, dissensions, confluences and dichotomies between Buddhism and Brahmanism as portrayed by Aśvaghoṣa. Asceticism is a fascinating theme to explore and the story of the Buddhacarita of Aśvaghoṣa makes it more animated and alive.

AbstractAlthough Plato studies occupy an important place in academia, the empiricist stance in considering reality, the modern epistemology of the self-identical ego, the devaluation of the image and imagination, and the restrictions on philosophy within academic research sometimes cause us to lose sight of the essence of Plato's texts and thought when analysing them. Discussing Plato from a Japanese perspective, this paper will introduce three Japanese thinkers, Sakabe Megumi, Izutsu Toshihiko, and Ino-ue Tadashi, who have critically examined modern Western philosophy from their own philosophical backgrounds and provided valuable suggestions. Taking into account the arguments of these Japanese thinkers, this paper emphasizes the notions of separation, purification, and transcendence as core concepts of Plato's philosophy.

Creativity is one of the most valued learning skills in the 21st century. It is important to develop creativity in order to achieve an effective and high level of education. As different approaches to its study, creativity has been defined as a result, as a process, as a construction arising from the influence of context and experience, and as a personal feature of human nature. The purpose of this contribution is to explain the study of creativity in order to gain an understanding of such a construction based on the approaches mentioned above. In addition, the main focus is on the development and application of creative strategies in the teaching and learning process, from the impact, to the development of creativity from an educational approach. A brief description of the most important or relevant strategies found in the literature emphasizes the inclusion of these strategies in the problem-solving process.

Abstract:
Economic development and market changes have led to the need to generate entrepreneurial ideas in order to meet changing customer demands. However, these changes are not seen as opportunities for generating entrepreneurial ideas. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify and determine the most important elements in the process of forming entrepreneurial ideas. Mixed-method research that involved the modified Delphi technique, nominal group technique and interpretive structural modelling was used in this study. At first, a questionnaire was set up for the modified Delphi technique, followed by the nominal group technique and, finally, the interpretive structural modeling was used to determine the most important entrepreneurial ideas and model design. The experts involved in this study were 12 entrepreneurial lecturers from higher institutions. The findings show that evaluating and improving existing ideas is the most important element and should be given priority. Therefore, the findings of this study contribute a piece of valuable information for educators’ practice and for policymakers involved in shaping a more effective entrepreneurship education.

Improving performance often requires creative ideas in extreme work settings like health care. Frontline workers are promising sources of creative ideas. The authors assert that their job dissatisfaction is positively associated with creativity in health care settings because negative emotion spurs creativity when tied to engaging work and that characteristics such as shorter tenure, greater role centrality, and high boundary spanning can strengthen this relationship. The authors find supporting evidence in data on ideas generated over 18 months by health professionals in 12 clinics. Results suggest that health care organizations should not overlook dissatisfied workers as valuable sources of creative improvement ideas.

Abstract:
GE is pioneering the development of market-based methods for allocating research budget to internal projects. To be effective, a market for ideas must provide appropriate incentives for the creation of valuable ideas and it must result in sufficiently accurate evaluation of ideas. The main tenet behind GE’s Idea Market is that improvements in the evaluation of research ideas should foster incentives for idea creation. Indeed, idea creation and idea evaluation are complementary activities. For an idea to be successful, it is not enough that the idea be good. It also helps if the idea is recognized as good by those who evaluate it. As the evaluation process becomes more accurate, good ideas are more likely to be funded. Thus, incentives for the creation of ideas are enhanced when ideas are evaluated more accurately.

The NCTM's Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics (Standards) (1989) calls for opportunities for students to use mathematics as a tool for the communication of ideas. In this project, students in any level of mathematics, working in a cooperative, active setting, can develop their understanding of mathematical concepts through the collaborative writing of word problems. In so doing, they see mathematics from the inside out, as creators rather than mimickers; they are “doers” of mathematics, reflecting on and clarifying their own thinking about mathematical ideas in specific situations. Additionally, projects of the type described here can give teachers valuable information on which they can base further instructional decisions regarding the development of students' ability to communicate effectively using the language of mathematics.

Abstract:
The pedagogical ideas of G. Vashchenko in the literary works of pedagogical and emigration periods are singled out. The pedagogical ideas concerning the formation of a creative personality are analyzed. The importance of educating a cheerful, vivid mood in a person is emphasized. The importance of the mother tongue in the upbringing of the younger generation is highlighted. The place and role of the teacher in the system of education of children is found out. The emphasis is placed on the meaning of using memories as a source of biographical research. The conducted research allows us to conclude that most of G. Vashchenko's pedagogical ideas are based on a deep knowledge of the foundations of folk pedagogy. The literary heritage of the teacher begins its counting from the end of the first decade of the twentieth century and is a valuable source for tracking, firstly, the creative interests of the young writer, and secondly, the democratic views of the writer on art, and thirdly, the author's deep research on the psychological aspects of the relationship of characters , fourthly, the necessary assertion of people in the belief in human progress, fifth, the emergence of the idea of liveliness of the spiritual wells of the people for the formation and development of personality, sixth, the origin of the intelligentsia her idea of selfless service to rural workers. Thus, in the literary works of G.Vaschenko, important pedagogical ideas, psychological observations, which received a powerful development in his pedagogical activity, were laid. These ideas in today's conditions are relevant and valuable for the development of the system of national education in Ukraine. The conducted research does not exhaust all aspects of pedagogical activity of G. Vaschenko and needs a holistic, systematic review and analysis of his pedagogical heritage.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the phenomenon of extremely valuable passion for the ideas of school shooting (mass shootings in educational institutions). The case of 16-year-old Katerina and her 18-year-old friend Yakov, who were referred to psychiatrists after discovering preparations to commit a crime and activity in searching for information on the Internet about school shooting, is described. Since childhood, Katerina has been under the care of psychiatrists for mental, intellectual and speech development delays. She has been on disability since the age of 18 and has a history of playing games simulating murder and violence. The article examines the psychopathological and psychological factors that contributed to the formation of an extremely valuable passion for the ideas of school shooting among the surveyed. The article highlights the lack of seriousness and lack of concern displayed by Katerina and Yakov towards the issue of school shootings. Their tendency to joke about this topic and express sympathy for the perpetrators is also highlighted. The emphasis is placed on the careless, frivolous attitude of Katerina and Yakov to the problem of mass murders in schools, their tendency to joke about these topics and show sympathy for the killers. It is concluded that “understanding” the feelings of school shooters, the infantile desire to make something “cool” out of any life event, create a meme, laugh at something that is not customary to laugh at (“ethical inversion”) should be recognized as fertile ground for the formation extremely valuable passion for the ideas of school shooting, without the destruction of which it is impossible to cope with future tragedies in educational institutions.

I develop a model of bilateral conversations in which players honestly exchange ideas with their competitors. The key to incentive compatibility is complementarity in the information structure: a player can generate a new insight only if he has access to his counterpart's previous thoughts on a topic. I then examine a social network in which A has a conversation with B, then B has a conversation with C, and so on. Relatively underdeveloped ideas can travel long distances over the network. More valuable ideas, by contrast, tend to remain localized among small groups of agents. (JEL D83)

Abstract:
By taking a cognitive-linguistic approach to metaphor, in this paper we deal with the abstract concept IDEA and the way it is understood and experienced in contemporary Serbian language. The research is aimed at determining some of the possible source domains that allow us to conceptualize the aforementioned concept. The corpus consists of sentences, found in Serbian daily papers Politika and Blic, which illustrate the identified metaphors. The analysis shows that this target domain can be understood in terms of various different source domains. We have decided to confine our attention to seven conceptual metaphors that allow us to comprehend different aspects of the concept IDEA. Namely, the results of the research show that ideas can be structured by the following metaphors: IDEAS ARE LIVING BEINGS, IDEAS ARE TOYS, IDEAS ARE FOOD, IDEAS ARE FORCE, IDEAS ARE RESOURCES, IDEAS ARE VALUABLE COMMODITIES and IDEAS ARE WEAPONS. We shall begin by identifying the linguistic expressions so as to explain the underlying similarities between the domains present in the metaphors stated above.

Abstract:
Rapid growth in the world’s economy depends on a significant increase in energy consumption. As is known, most of the present energy supply comes from coal, oil, and natural gas. The overreliance on fossil energy brings serious environmental problems in addition to the scarcity of energy. One of the most concerning environmental problems is the large contribution to global warming because of the massive discharge of CO2 in the burning of fossil fuels. Therefore, many efforts have been made to resolve such issues. Among them, the preparation of valuable fuels or chemicals from greenhouse gas (CO2) has attracted great attention because it has made a promising step toward simultaneously resolving the environment and energy problems. This article reviews the current progress in CO2 conversion via different strategies, including thermal catalysis, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and photoelectrocatalysis. Inspired by natural photosynthesis, light-capturing agents including macrocycles with conjugated structures similar to chlorophyll have attracted increasing attention. Using such macrocycles as photosensitizers, photocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, or coupling with enzymatic reactions were conducted to fulfill the conversion of CO2 with high efficiency and specificity. Recent progress in enzyme coupled to photocatalysis and enzyme coupled to photoelectrocatalysis were specially reviewed in this review. Additionally, the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of different conversion methods were also presented. We wish to provide certain constructive ideas for new investigators and deep insights into the research of CO2 conversion.

Abstract:
This study relates to the concept of Islamic literature directed by Mohd. Affandi Hassan. He has shown two ideas to explain the concept of his Islamic literature. Firstly, aesthetic education of Tawheed approach, secondly, new writing ideas. In the first place, he emphasized on the nature based on Tawheed that must understand and appreciate the philosophy of the essence of man, the essence of knowledge and charity, as well as the fact and literary function in depth. Next, in order to apply this concept to the students, he introduced a method called KIBLAT to them consisting of reading, understanding, interpreting, enjoying, and composing. Moreover, in the process of composing a work of art, he suggested a new method called ESPEN, a short essay. While in the second ideas of 'New Literature' he emphasized the concept of ihsan and the concept of taklif in producing the masterpiece. Then, Affandi divides the distribution of the work into three stages: First: writing work, second; literary works, third; not valuable/erotic/pornographic works. Through this study, highlights the affirmative personality of Affandi in the field of science, especially literary criticism. Through the 'two ideas' shown by Affandi it is as if the 'Islamic literary concept' has almost reached perfection.

Abstract:
Amid global disturbances, the calls for educational institutions to promote peace and counter hostility intensify. However, policymakers and other adults typically draft the various programs developed for schools to pursue this mission. While young people have valuable insights into the realities and issues around them, their ideas are rarely solicited in this respect. This study contributes towards filling this gap by bringing insights from Finnish youth on how to address hostile attitudes and foster the development of more peaceful futures in and through education. The data were gathered through an online survey sent to students in upper-secondary education (16- to 20-year-olds) in Finland. The survey included an open-ended question on how schools could address hostile attitudes. In total, 2744 students answered this question, and their responses composed the data of this study. Through qualitative analysis, we found that their suggestions concerned both the academic and social dimensions of school education in addressing hostile attitudes. The students highlighted that to change people’s attitudes and beliefs, they need to know more, and most importantly, they need to know differently. They proposed self-reflection and dialogue as pedagogical tools for the critical examination of one’s taken-for-granted assumptions. The students’ ideas align well with the tenets of transformative learning, which could be valuable in developing educational approaches for more peaceful societies.

Abstract:
The current market for policy advice in Ireland is highly cartelised. A more contestable “marketplace for ideas” would afford greater opportunity for good ideas to challenge bad ones and would diminish the power of vested interests, including elements of the political establishment and the bureaucracy itself. Policy weaknesses could have been identified much earlier were the policy-making system more transparent and contestable. By obscuring where policy advice ends and political decisions begin, the strict interpretation of the “doctrine of the corporation sole” facilitates the evasion of responsibility and institutionalises a regime of inappropriate incentives. Greater inquisitorial powers for Oireachtas committees should prove valuable but other incentives within the system also need to be changed if more efficient outcomes are to be secured.

Abstract:
The sub-discipline of "science and literature studies" is more active in the Anglophone world than it is in France. It is a domain which produces much valuable work, but which is sometimes prey to problems of a methodological order. This article considers two analyses of this type, both dealing with the novels of Jane Austen. By appealing to the notion of "paradigm" or of "world-view", these studies identify thematic echoes between Austen's narrative world and, in one case, Aristotelian mechanics ; and, in the other case, the Natural Theologian's notion of proper scientific practice. We will argue that such comparisons are of doubtful utility if they are not accompanied by adequate consideration of the broader scientific and literary contexts.
