Abstract:

Naast de Hollandsche Schouwburg, het Anne Frank Huis en het Auschwitz monument in Amsterdam is Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork de belangrijkste plek in Nederland waar de Jodenvervolging en -vernietiging wordt herdacht. De vormgeving van het voormalige kampterrein van Westerbork stamt uit 1992. Het oogt als een landschapspark waar met gras begroeide taluds zijn aangebracht, soms geflankeerd met betonnen bouwelementen, om te laten zien waar de barakken hebben gestaan. Op en rond het voormalige kampterrein staan diverse gedenktekens. Van het originele voormalige Joods doorgangskamp is nagenoeg niets meer over. Men had indertijd bewust voor deze symbolisering gekozen omdat reconstructie als kitsch werd gezien. Nu wil men het kampterrein hervormgeven omdat het voor de meeste bezoekers niet als een historische plek wordt ervaren. De vraag is alleen hoever de symbolische betekenisgeving kan worden uitgerekt of getransformeerd om een nieuw visueel gerichte generatie aan te spreken zonder de integriteit van de slachtoffers aan te tasten, zonder de plek te ontheiligen.

Abstract:

De Australische theoloog David Coffey (*1934) is één van die rooms-katholieke theologen die geprobeerd hebben een geestchristologie te ontwerpen die trouw blijft aan de uitspraken van de grote oecumenische concilies. Hoewel velen erkennen dat een vorm van geestchristologie het ware mens-zijn van Jezus beter tot zijn recht laat komen dan de klassieke christologie, kiezen ze meestal toch voor deze laatste. Geestchristologie lijkt niet in staat de uniciteit van Christus voldoende te handhaven. Vaak is er in de kritiek sprake van adoptianisme. Ook staat geestchristologie volgens velen op gespannen voet met de overgeleverde leer omtrent de drie-eenheid. In dit artikel wordt een schets geboden van de christologie van Coffey binnen het raam van zijn opvatting van de triniteit. In de evaluatie bezien we of hij erin geslaagd is recht te doen aan het ware mens-zijn van Jezus zonder het risico te lopen zijn uniciteit op het spel te zetten.

In het septembernummer van het MAB hebben Bart Kamp en Victor van Pelt een interessant artikel gepubliceerd over de foutenleer indien sprake is van fundamentele fouten (Kamp en Van Pelt, 2014). Art. 2:362 lid 6 BW vereist dat indien dergelijke fouten zich voordoen (waarbij de jaarrekening in ernstige mate tekortschiet en waarbij de fout blijkt na vaststelling van de jaarrekening door de algemene vergadering) een mededeling bij het handelsregister moet worden gedeponeerd. De zogenoemde désaveuverklaring. Die mededeling moet van een controleverklaring zijn voorzien als de desbetreffende jaarrekening onder de wettelijk verplichte controle van art. 2:393 BW valt. Mede op basis van een uitgebreid jaarrekeningonderzoek komen zij tot de conclusie dat de désaveuverklaring in de praktijk weinig voorkomt.

Abstract:

Contemporary understanding of the industrial history of Tegelen is largely confined to its former ceramic industry. The local metal industry, however, also deserves appraisal. This article is a first attempt to bring together the fragmented body of literature on this topic and, by adding additional sources and theories, to arrive at new insights into the emergence of the metal cluster in Tegelen. The empirical findings testify to a development trajectory that is quite remarkable as entrepreneurs were confronted with a set of challenges unfavourable to economic growth throughout the formative years of the industry. These challenges included: the absence of essential raw materials; a lack of specialised knowledge available in close proximity; and limited accessibility due to a variety of issues related to the (extra)regional infrastructure. In view of these bottlenecks, the article sets out to answer the following three research questions: Why did the pioneering entrepreneurs choose Tegelen as their place of business? How did they manage to overcome the challenges on their path? And which factors and dynamics ultimately led to cluster formation? In answering these questions, close attention is paid to the Kamp & Soeten firm - the first and for a long time the only metal company in Tegelen. During its monopoly position, which lasted no less than 33 years, Kamp & Soeten helped create the conditions for a new branch of industry to flourish in the Tegelen region.

Deze bronnenuitgave betreft een document van de Vlaamse Wacht, een vereniging die als spil functioneerde voor Vlaamse actie en culturele en politieke bewustmaking in het Duitse krijgsgevangenkamp van Alten-Grabow. In bepaalde Duitse krijgsgevangenkampen werd een activistische werking onder de Vlaamsgezinden bevorderd, als onderdeel van de Flamenpolitik, de tegemoetkomende houding van de Duitse bezetter tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog tegenover de Nederlandssprekenden in België, om hen te helpen los te komen uit het Belgisch staatsverband en nauwer aan te sluiten bij het Duitse Rijk. Luc Vandeweyer beschrijft hoe de Vlaamsgezinde soldaat Aloïs Valgaeren (1881-1942), een bekende van August Borms, in Alten-Grabow onder meer de Vlaamse Wacht mede-oprichtte, bestuurde en bezielde. Daarbij vervulden een ‘boekerij’ en de uitwisseling van flamingantische periodieken met het Vlaamse thuisland een voorname rol. In het kamp van Alten-Grabow waren de Belgisch-patriottische tegenkrachten overigens vitaler dan in het soortgelijke kamp van Göttingen (waar de Duitsers de potentiële Vlaamse activisten zoveel mogelijk trachtten te concentreren). Valgaeren was na zijn terugkeer in Vlaanderen verder actief in het activisme; na de oorlog bestraft met gevangenschap en een hoge boete, kende hij daarna een eerder armlastig bestaan. Some German Prisoner of War camps promoted activism among the sympathizers of the Flemish Movement, as part of the Flamenpolitik, the obliging attitude of the German occupier during the First World War towards the Dutch speakers in Belgium, in order to help them to detach themselves from the connection with the Belgian state and to forge closer links with the German Empire. Luc Vandeweyer describes how the soldier Aloïs Valgaeren (1881-1942), an advocate of the Flemish Movement and an acquaintance of August Borms, co-founded, ran, and inspired the Flemish Watch amongst other things in Alten-Grabow. A library and the exchange of periodicals of the Flemish Movement with the Flemish homeland played an important part in this. For that matter, the Belgian patriotic counter forces were more vigorous in the Prisoner Of War camp of Alten-Grabow than in the similar camp of Göttingen (where the Germans tried to concentrate the potential Flemish activists as much as possible).After his return to Flanders Valgaeren continued to be involved in activism. Having been punished after the war with imprisonment and a high fine he consequently lived a rather impoverished life. He died during the Second World War, after he had chosen again to collaborate.

Creativity is a popular topic that has been increasingly researched over the years. Recently, creativity is suggested as a relational concept (Zahno & Hossner, 2020). This conceptualization implies that creativity is not solely an individual ability. By contrast, creative actions emerge in the athlete’s search to adapt to task and environmental constraints (Orth et al., 2017; Withagen & van der Kamp, 2018). Manipulating task constraints that serve to increase variability might, therefore, evoke creative actions. Such manipulations in soccer are often conducted in training situations with small sided games. This was recently shown with a numerical assessment of creative actions comparing small sided soccer games (SSGs) with 11v11 matches in elite adult soccer players (Caso & van der Kamp, 2020). They found that players performed more actions, a broader action repertoire and more creative actions in smaller formats (5v5, 6v6 and 7v7) than in an 11v11 format. The purely quantitative method of Caso & van der Kamp (2020), however, uses an arbitrarily 5% benchmark for originality. More importantly, although subjective, the coaches opinions are not meaningless and should not be neglected. Our research examined whether the latter task manipulation also increased the action repertoire and creative performance of elite youth soccer players (O11-O13). A numerical method was introduced, assessing creative performances as a frequency of the action types emerging in an environment. A notational video-analysis identified all (not-) functional actions. Next, a threshold defined whether the action was original. This threshold has been determined with expert coaches ranking action types following the procedure of the consensual assessment technique (CAT; Amabile, 1996). If the action was both original and functional, then it was defined a creative action. The data consisted of 293 minutes small sided game (4v4) and 263 minutes regular sided game (11v11). Results indicated that small sided games hold relative more actions, more functional action and more creative actions compared with regular sided games. This is in line with previous studies, that small sided games induce more variation of actions which increase the possible emergence of creative actions (Orth et al., 2017). References Amabile, T. Om armoede te bestrijden is kennis van armoede nodig. Niet alleen wetenschappelijke kennis en vakkennis, maar ook ervaringskennis. Het principe dat je niets doet voor mensen zonder die mensen erbij te betrekken wordt steeds meer omarmd door beleidsmakers en sociale professionals. En terecht, want goed armoedebeleid en goede interventies kunnen niet zonder de kennis van mensen die getroffen worden door armoede(beleid). Deze drie boeken zijn geschreven door auteurs met ervaringskennis op het gebied van armoede. Er zijn overeenkomsten tussen de ervaringen van Tim ‘S Jongers, Stella de Swart en Milio van de Kamp. Toch verschillen hun verhalen erover aanzienlijk van elkaar. Dat komt niet alleen door het verschil tussen hun ervaringen met armoede, het komt ook doordat hun perspectieven op armoede zo verschillen.

Over de bestraffing op tuchtrechtelijk vlak van collaboratie met de vijand tijdens WOI en WOII door de tuchtcolleges van een vrij beroep zoals de orde van advocaten er een is, bestaan bijna geen publicaties. In 2012 werd door de orde van advocaten in Antwerpen openheid van zaken gegeven voor de tuchtvervolgingen en veroordelingen die het gevolg waren van feiten gepleegd tijdens WOII. Aan de hand van de verslagboeken van de raad van de orde, zetelend als tuchtraad, konden ondertussen de procedures die na WOI tegen Antwerpse advocaten werden ingespannen voor de eerste maal grondig bestudeerd worden. Dat leverde verrassende resultaten op, niet alleen omdat aangetoond kon worden dat er een storende ongelijkheid in de bestraffing was voor zover de advocaat tijdens WOI in het zgn. Belgische kamp dan wel in het Vlaamse kamp gestaan had. Ook omdat vastgesteld kon worden dat de tuchtraad van advocaten, van dewelke toch aangenomen zou moeten worden dat hij ook toen de behoeder zou moeten geweest zijn van grondwettelijke vrijheden en correct procesverloop met respect voor de rechten van verdediging, in het eerste gerechtelijke jaar na 11 november 1918 daarmee soms zeer bediscussieerbaar omging.________The punishment of Activism during the First World War by the disciplinary board of the Antwerp Bar (1918-1921)There are almost no publications about the punishment of collaboration with the enemy during the World Wars by the disciplinary boards of liberal professions, such as bar associations. In 2012, the Antwerp Bar opened up the records concerning disciplinary proceedings and sentences that resulted from acts committed during the Second World War. On the basis of the records of the council of the Bar, sitting as a disciplinary board, the actions that were directed against Antwerp lawyers after the First World War could be studied in-depth for the first time. This produced surprising results. In part, this is because there was a demonstrable, disturbing inequality in punishment depending on whether the lawyer had stood in the so-called ‘Belgian camp’ or in the ‘Flemish camp’. In addition, we can conclude that the disciplinary board of the Bar, which we must remember was at the time also supposed to uphold constitutional freedoms and proper legal process regarding the rights of the accused, often treated these in a very debatable fashion in the first judicial year following 11 November 1918.

Martine Letteries schreef het boek Kinderen met een ster in opdracht van Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork en het verscheen in 2016. Het boek is in Nederland voor kinderen vanaf ongeveer vijf à zes jaar aangeraden waardoor het verhaal een interessant onderzoeksobject blijkt. Als onderzoeksvraag stel ik de vraag ‘Met welke auteurstechnieken maakt Martine Letterie de Holocaust in Kinderen met een ster voor jonge lezers bespreekbaar?’. Hiernaast kijk ik er ook naar in hoeverre de representatie van de Holocaust in Letteries boek in lijn is met de International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance aanbevelingen voor Holocaustonderwijs. Martine Letterie a westerbori gyűjtőtábor helyén működő múzeum és emlékhely (Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork) megbízásából 2016-ban írta meg a Kinderen met een ster [Csillagos gyermekek] című gyermekkönyvét. Kutatás szempontjából azért érdekes a mű, mert Hollandiában az öt-hat éves korosztály számára ajánlják. Dolgozatom megírásakor arra a kérdésre kerestem választ, milyen írói technikák segítségével teszi Martine Letterie feldolgozhatóvá a holokausztot fiatal olvasói számára a Kinderen met een ster című könyvében. Emellett azt vizsgáltam meg, hogy ezek az írói technikák hogyan illeszkednek a Nemzetközi Holokauszt Emlékezési Szövetség (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) holokausztoktatáshoz megfogalmazott ajánlásaihoz.
