Low-temperature corrections to the van der Waals interaction energy are computed numerically for three cases: Dilute media with radiative interactions, arbitrarily dense media without radiative interactions, and arbitrarily dense media with radiative interactions. The validity of the model used to calculate the corrections at arbitrary densities is argued for, by comparison with the results for low densities.

One involved choosing a functional form for the repulsion and dispersion energies whose parameters were determined by a fit to experimental data. In the past few years, led by graphene, a large variety of two dimensional (2D) materials have been discovered to exhibit astonishing properties. A van der Waals systems is a heterostructure in which the different constituents are held together by van der Waals forces.
