Full textThe object of the work is the English name of Lithuania. The aim of the work is to identify the assumptions of the state name change in the society and to evaluate their legitimacy. The objectives of the work. In order to meet the set aim, the author raises the following objectives: to determine the concept of the brand name and its benefit for an enterprise; to discuss the assumptions and the risks of the change of the brand name; on the basis of analyzed assumptions of the brand name change, identify the assumptions of motivating the change of the state name; to analyze the risk which can be caused by changing the state name; to evaluate the legitimacy of assumptions stimulating the change of the state name in the concrete case. Academic topicality of the work. Lithuania chose the image forming strategy in 2008. The basic idea of the strategy was the slogan „Lithuania – the brave country“. This slogan was suggested by the commission responsible for the formation of Lithuania’s image. But the concept of Lithuania as the brave country wasn‘t the only one idea which was suggested by that commission. One of the members of the board, Paulius Senūta, also suggested the idea, that before implementing the new strategy of image formation Lithuania should think about the possibility to change the English word Lithuania. Full textThe aim of this thesis is to investigate whether the parents’ right to choose a child’s name can be restricted. The subject is relevant and this is justified by reviews of legal regulations and case law of different countries. The analysis shows that there are some cases when parents irresponsibly choose names for their children, thus violating child’s interests. In order to answer this problematic question, it is important to clarify the concepts of a child and a name considering both general and legal definitions. In this paper, a child is a special entity for whose proper fulfillment of rights a special protection is provided. The thesis also assesses the functions of legal regulations taking into account whether the legal norms that regulate name registration process means that the country ensures and respects child’s rights. It is emphasized that the concept of name is used in its narrow sense, excluding last name and nickname. Moreover, another relevant question of the thesis is the right to the name and privacy relation. It is emphasized that child’s name is the component of identity, therefore both child’s parents and the country have to ensure that child’s identity and relation with the family are preserved. This aspect is investigated referring to both European Court of Human Rights and judicial judgments of other countries. Full textThe articulation between globalization, migration and urbanization is addressed from a vantage point located in a developing country : the city of Bangalore, fifth city by population of India, which is known also as the ''Silicon Valley of India''. The selected way to assess it has been to focus on the reverse migration flow of high-skilled Indian migrants, coming back from the USA mainly, specifically to Bangalore. This research stands at the intersection of migration studies and urban studies. It proposes a comprehensive approach in order to comprehend the spatial practices as well as their meanings, at both the individual scale and the collective scale. It addresses two important notions in migration studies : return migration and high(ly) skilled migration. This reverse brain drain contributes to the technopolitan dynamic which a salient feature of Bangalore. This study reinforces the relevance of the concept of return migration by analyzing the return migration as a project, as an open-ended-process and a stage in the realm of increasingly transnational life patterns. The thesis addresses also the way these ''returnees'' reinsert themselves in the urban fabric, contributing to some typical trends of the metropolis and technopolis-in-the making such as the development of enclave urbanism, by studying their residential practices. Full textThe Yard has two main themes, Lines of sight and Movement. The placement and size of The Yard make the building visible from many places around Beckholmen. It is viewable from different angels and distances. This visual communication has formed The Yard by twisting different workshops in different angels to create lines of sight from places around Beckholmen. The existing movement of the shipyard activity is made visible through lines of glass concrete in each facade directed outwards. At the height of these openings, traverse girders are moving along the facade. In each line of glass concrete, a fresnel lens gives a wide angle perspective view into the workshop. Diffuse perceptions of the ongoing activity are being offered at different distances. The fragmented plan is generating exciting interior and exterior spaces and sequences of movement. Between the hull hall and the smaller workshops two light corridors give indirect daylight into the workshops. The corridors also work as shortcuts between the workshops, thus passing through the hull hall is avoided.

Full textThe aim of the thesis was to investigate how teachers work to let students discover and experience history as part of the teaching of history. While the study raises further training opportunities in SE / history of the affected teachers at the school. The theory is based on the student to knowledge deeper ties to history through to experience and discover the history of the place and in a more practical manner. The method consists of qualitative interviews have been transcribed and a written interview. Those who have been interviewed are educators who work with grades 1-3 and 4-6 and having SE as their teaching subject. All interviews are based on a completed interview forms. The result of these shows a varied education that begins with a practical and exploratory way of working in grades 1-3 and end up in grades 4-6 will be more theoretical and teaching stays in the classroom. Meanwhile, it emerged that there is no training for school teachers in the So-topics. Although all the teachers say they need more support in their teaching.

Full textThis master thesis focuses on writing foreigners’ surnames and the influence of European Union (EU) law. It analyses the concept, functions and features of name and discusses the place of name within the language system that often becomes a subject of dispute especially when a necessity of legal act in a field of foreigners’ surnames arises. Special attention is paid to analyze the right to name. In order to find out the main features of regulation of surnames, analysis of international, EU and national regulation is provided. This thesis analyses a case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in a field of surnames. Particular attention is paid to cases Sayn-Wittgenstein and Runevič-Vardyn recently examined by the CJEU that are not analyzed in the doctrine yet. The main conclusion of this thesis is that there is necessary to adopt legislation at the EU level that would be able to resolve problems of writing foreigners’' surnames in the host member state, because existing differences in this sphere can lead to violations of main freedoms and rights granted to EU citizens.

Full textThe tourism industry is growing which means an increased impact on the environment and an increased resource use. At the same time a healthy environment is of significant importance for many operators within the tourism industry. Many lodging operations want to put on display that they are responsible and that they are doing improvements to decrease their environmental impact. A number of ecolabels are available to help them do so. The purpose of this study is to learn the motives behind why small lodging operations in Sweden choose to put an ecolabel on their companies, or the motives behind why they choose not to. The study also includes research about what ecolabel opportunities small lodging operations in Sweden have and what they mean. The study is based on qualitative research interviews and literature studies. The respondents are six small lodging operations. One Bed & Breakfast, two hotels, one hostel and two guesthouses. Three of the companies are ecolabelled, the other three are not. Ecolabels that are focused on in the study are Svanen (Nordic Ecolabel), Green Key, EU-blomman (EU Eco label) and Naturens Bästa (Nature's Best). The study shows that an ecolabel works as both a marketing tool and an environmental management system for lodging operations. The study also indicates that reasons to get an ecolabel are marketing gains, better track of the environmental work, new ideas and personal commitment. Motives behind not putting an ecolabel on the lodging operation have in the study shown to be the cost, expenditure of time and unawareness of the ecolabel opportunities. It has also been mentioned that the ecolabels are not always suitable for the smaller lodging operations. The respondents considers that an ecolabel has meant or would mean a small or no decrease of the environmental impact of their lodging operation. No conclusion has been reached regarding ecolabels effect on lodging operations' environmental impact.

Full textIs the new technology always the best? This final project tries to determine if BIM is the melody of today, or if traditional 2D drawing is recommended. Perhaps a compromise is necessary, utilizing both methods.
In order to answer this question, different views from the industry have been retrieved through reports, producers of software and users. The approach has consisted in building a 3D model of the school Råslättsskolan, house 01, along with interviews with people involved in the building process.
When working in 2D it is hard to include the third dimension, mistakes are done and collisions happen that must be corrected, in most cases at the construction site. BIM is an incredible help since the model allows you to detect collisions and correct them. Another time when models are preferred is when you need production plans, for example, different steel details that will be joined together at the work shop before shipping to the construction site.
Skanska and NCC, in densely developed urban areas, already require BIM today, something that most likely will be customary within the nearest future. It is not hard to understand that more and more clients require BIM when you realize its advantages. With the correct method, these 3D models can minimize risks of errors, optimize the production and save money.When it comes to introducing BIM today at BGK the students can’t do anything but make a recommendation. The improved quality, the future prospect and that the advantages of BIM is not depending by project size will make it attractive for BGK to begin a transition already today. BIM is the melody of the future, not the only song being sung, but clearly the strongest one.

Full textIn a society where the event industry is growing, it is of importance to understand what motivates individuals to work voluntarily. Many events would not be possible to accomplish without the work of volunteers. The purpose of this study is to gain knowledge of how the instrumental (external) and intrinsic (internal) motivational factors influence individuals to work voluntarily. The study was conducted with a qualitative method and data was collected through seven semi- structured interviews. The study's respondents consisted of individuals who previously have worked as volunteers. Furthermore, all of them will volunteer at EuroPride 2018. The result demonstrated different experiences regarding the instrumental motivation factors and more unanimous answers regarding the intrinsic factors. However, belonging to a community was a recurring theme highlighted by all respondents. It was clear in the study how the intrinsic motivation factors were well-rooted within the respondents, while the instrumental motivational factors were more viewed as a bonus that embellished life. This study will be presented in Swedish.

O presente trabalho procura fazer uma análise das práticas escolares vigentes no curso secundário do Ginásio Diocesano, localizado em Lages (SC) entre os anos de 1931 e 1942. Trata-se de uma instituição católica dirigida pela Ordem do Frades Menor e voltada para meninos oriundos das elites regionais da serra catarinense. Intenta-se problematizar através de uma análise micro-escolar variáveis como a circulação e avaliação dos saberes escolares e sua relação com o público escolar, bem como a socialização desses. Através das fontes documentais busca-se perceber práticas que procuravam naturalizar dons, méritos, disposições e uma posição social levando em consideração o momento histórico permeado por um nacionalismo sob o filtro de uma instituição religiosa.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to research different methods that can be used to prevent osteoporosis and review the nurses` teaching roll in connection with prevention. Method is a literature review. Ten scientific articles were reviewed and analyzed which resulted in the following themes: the importance of food, exercise’s effect to prevent osteoporosis, prevention program and the nurses´ teaching roll. The results demonstrate that the prevention of osteoporosis is effective but it is often difficult to convey the information to the desired target group. In conclusion nurses are in a good position to inform patients regarding the meaning of prevention methods and its procedure.

Full textThis thesis presents a discursive and historical investigation of the origins and causes of the design review in architectural education. The design review, jury or ”crit” i s an integral and central part of the contemporary paradigm for architectural education – the design studio. The thesis discusses previous research on the design review, which paints a gloomy picture of the learning possibilities of the review. The historical roots of the review are studied with the Swedish context as a focus, showing that the review in its contemporary form was adopted concurrently with the design studio paradigm during the 1990’s. Furthermore, interviews were carried out with instructors at the School of Architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Results from the interviews point to several contradictions and issues in the discourse about the review. Seeing the concept and faculty of judgment as central to understand the implicit definition of the architect, as manifested in the review and in the canon of the discipline, these findings are the discussed and contextualised.

Full textI Lpo 94 står det att skolan ”skall utformas i överensstämmelse med grundläggande demokratiska värderingar och att var och en som verkar inom skolan skall främja aktningen för varje människas egenvärde och respekten för vår gemensamma miljö”(Lpo94, s.3). Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka mobbning och varför man mobbar och varför man blir mobbad. Jag vill genom detta arbete hitta svar på hur man kan arbeta för att förhindra och stoppa mobbning och vilka lagar man kan använda sig av för att stoppa mobbning. Mobbning kan drabba vem som helst och när som helst och den har alltid funnits (Björk, 1999). Syftet var också att få mera kunskaper om likabehandlingsplanen och mobbningsteamen som ska finnas på skolorna. Metoden som jag har arbetat efter har varit en kvalitativ forskningsmetod. De semistrukturerade intervjuerna och enkäterna har sammanfattats och därefter har resultaten analyserats och satts i relation till litteraturgenomgången. Undersökningen visar att många barn inte är medvetna om att det ska finnas en likabehandlingsplan och ett mobbningsteam på skolan.

Full textUnder vår skolförlagda utbildning har vi varit på olika skolor, där vi sett att lärarnas undervisning varierade stort i dessa skolor. Vi undrar varför det är så mycket ämnesstrukturerad undervisning ute på skolorna och varför inte lärarna undervisar mer ämnesintegrerat när vi ser att det finns möjligheter till detta. En av de viktigaste uppgifterna som verksamma lärare bör ha, är att ge eleverna möjligheter till överblick och sammanhang mellan ämnen. Syftet med vår studie var att undersöka varför lärarna integrerar och varför inte lärarna integrerar i skolorna. Vår undersökning grundar sig på telefonintervjuer med 25 lärare från två kommuner.
Vår studie visar att lärarna integrerar ämnena för att eleverna ska förstå samband och se helheter. Flertalet av lärare undervisar utifrån ett arbetsområde där de utgår från den stora helheten för att sedan leda in undervisningen till delar och små bitar. Vid verklighetsrelaterad undervisning kan undervisningen bli integrerad och när eleverna känner igen sig, har eleverna lättare att ta till sig undervisningen, menar lärarna i vår studie.
Svårigheter som kan uppstå vid integrerad undervisning är t ex olika lärarkategorier och att integrerad undervisning kräver en tidskrävande planering samt brist på integrerat läromedel. Det fanns lärare som deltog i studien som ansåg sig lägga ner mycket tid och kraft att skapa eget integrerat läromedel. 20 stycken lärare i studien undervisar huvudsakligen integrerat men de undervisar också ämnesstrukturerat. Med varierade undervisningsformer kan lärarna nå ut till fler elever då åsikterna gått isär om vilken undervisningsform som gagnar vem.

Full textSustainable development has had a growing impact on building and real estate industry during the past two decades and a number of voluntary environmental rating systems for buildings have emerged, including BREEAM and LEED, which today are the two most recognized and international rating systems, whilst the increasing number of countries decide to join the green movement and develop own national environmental rating systems for buildings. To build green and to be able to verify that with a certification stamp is today a significant and visible aspect, but still it is only one side of a much broader approach for sustainable businesses that extends into corporate strategy and leadership, integrated management and reporting and corporate environmental adjustment. Many key stakeholders in these industries are increasingly looking for recognition of their sustainability credentials and started to explore the linkages between sustainability and value. For this purpose the increasing number of construction and real estate companies, investors and corporates are using so-called green buildings or environmental rating systems to set their buildings apart from the rest. A company that today chooses to develop, own or occupy an environmentally rated building will need to decide which system is preferable – a local rating system, which is better suited to the national context, or an international one. The stakeholders of the Swedish building and real estate industry have acted cautiously, despite its advanced environmental work, as regards the application of environmental rating systems, which means that Sweden is currently lagging behind in the number of rated buildings and thus the access to the quantitative database of these which could contribute to a closer examination of the value linkages. We cannot say that the barriers which are considered to hold back the spread of environmental rating systems in Sweden, in the shape of, among others, unwillingness to pay higher production costs when applying these systems, are gone today, but we can note that the increasing number of companies are beginning to feel the dynamics of the development around them and choose to join the green movement. The main benefits of certification systems in the commercial market in Sweden today seem to be: Competitive benefits that also strengthens the brand and demonstrate that the company takes its environmental responsibility. Future hygiene factor that makes companies choose to go for it already today. An easily understandable communication means from a third-party. In the today’s residential market it cannot be observed any demand at all for environmentally rated buildings, according to the interviewees. This can be explained by that the private consumers up to now still are seeking for other, more traditional factors when choosing their accommodation, such as location, price and function. With the information that we have gathered during our work we cannot draw any general conclusions, but a likely development in the residential market can be that demand can come after the number of rated buildings increases. Over time, when there are a sufficient amount of rated buildings, it can lead to that, like the possible development in the commercial market, it will be an important factor that will be considered along with the traditional factors in the choice of accommodation. Environmentally rated buildings may in the future come to mean quality buildings. It is also probable that the focus will eventually move from energy issue to the building materials and indoor environment aspects. While the development of rating systems probably will expand to also include the economic and social sustainability factors, which means a much greater collaboration between all that exists and going on around a building and makes it into a spider in the web.

Full textJag har valt att göra en kvalitativ undersökning som består av intervjuer med medlemmar i Jehovas vittnen, icke medlemmar samt avhoppare. Syftet med denna undersökning är att ta reda på vilka faktorer det är som bidrar till att människor väljer att ansluta sig till Jehovas vittnen. För att få en bredare bild av Jehovas vittnes organisation har jag valt att även utföra tre intervjuer med avhoppare. Intervjuerna med Jehovas vittnen utfördes gruppvis på Rikets sal i Halmstad medan intervjuerna med övriga respondenter som icke är Jehovas vittnes utfördes i hemmet eller på arbetsplatsen. Intervjuerna med avhopparna skedde till via mail och telefon. Jag kommer att ta upp respondenternas sätt att resonera kring valet de har gjort och även ta upp vad och hur icke vittnena resonerar om Jehovas vittnen. Avhopparnas´intervjuer belyser ytterligare hur organisationen inom Jehovas vittnen fungerar samt hur de hade det under tiden som vittnen. Uppsatsen kommer att belysa hur Jehovas vittnen resonerar kring valet att vara Jehovas vittne. Jag får ta del av deras synsätt om hur det är att leva i ett samfund som Jehovas vittnen. Jag
kommer även att presentera och diskutera de tankar som icke vittnen har om Jehovas vitten samt avhopparnas syn på organisationen. Efter den sociologiska analysen följer en slutdiskussion.

Full textFöretagens tillämpning av miljöledningssystemet ISO 14001 har sedan etableringen år 1994 fram till idag gradvist stegrat. Miljöfrågor får allt mer uppmärksamhet av allmänheten, samtidigt ställs det krav på företag om att de ska driva sin verksamhet utifrån ett miljövänligt perspektiv.
Miljöledningssystemet ISO 14001 är en internationellt känd standard och förekommer oftare bland företag som innehar en certifiering. Investering av ett miljöledningssystem för med sig stora kostnader och företaget förväntas arbeta mycket och tillsammans för att få det att fungera väl. Det finns företag som driver sin verksamhet samtidigt som de tar hänsyn till miljön, men det är först när företag använder sig av ett miljöledningssystem som deras miljöarbete får betydelse. Det kan förklaras med den extra post som tillkommer; miljörevision. Det innebär att företagets miljöarbete granskas av externa revisorer. De ser till att ständiga förbättringar genomförs och att miljötänkandet regelbundet finns i företagets processer. Miljöledningssystemet hjälper företaget att få bättre struktur på sin verksamhet genom dokumentation. Denna dokumentation leder till ökad kontroll, effektivare resursanvändning och underlättar för den nyanställda att komma in i arbetet.
Föreliggande undersökning fokuserar på företag som är etablerade i Karlstad och som har miljöledningssystemet ISO 14001. Undersökningen inkluderar sammanlagt sju intervjuer med miljösamordnare på företagen. Resultaten av undersökning visar att företag miljöcertifierar sig främst i syfte att tillfredställa intressenternas krav och för deras verksamhets fortsatta existens, den egna viljan har alltså väldigt liten inverkan. Trots att investeringen kräver mycket av personalen och kostar en del är det lönsamt eftersom intressenterna är viktiga för företagets fortlevnad. Om miljöledningssystemet bidragit till förändrad kundtillströmning, resultat och ställning är det enligt företagen svårt att mäta. Dock spekuleras det om att miljöledningssystemet har varit positivt för företagets helhetsbild vilket också har påverkan på kundtillströmningen. Samhället förändras mer eller mindre ständigt vilket i många fall har inverkan på företagen, en förändring såsom exempelvis lågkonjunkturen idag påstår de deltagande företagen att det inte kommer att påverka nuvarande miljöarbetet negativt. Miljöarbetet är något som får kosta trots sämre tider.

Full textDuring the last decade, the right of children to partake in cultural events as part of their school education has been stated in policy documents of both national schools and cultural institutions. The latest national cultural reform is "Skapande skola" (Eng. "Creative school"). Opportunities for collaboration between symphony orchestras and schools are good. The aim of this study is to examine teachers’ opinions on the benefits of concerts performed for schools as a resource in music education. Teachers and their students in school-year 4–6 attended concerts for schools performed by Gävle Symphony Orchestra. The empirical basis of this study consists of a questionnaire answered by nineteen teachers who attended these concerts with their students. Additionally, two teachers were interviewed. According to the teachers, the main advantage of school concerts is that students get an experience of music that they might not otherwise have had. Teachers think that this is one of the main goals of music education in school. Also, teachers appreciate the democratic aspect of all students being able to attend symphony orchestra concerts. Concerts for schools are, according to this study, appreciated as a cultural event within school education. However, educational aspects of attending these concerts could be improved. For example, school concerts are generally not linked to students’ music education. Teachers stressed a desire for guidebooks and time for planning.

Full textSeveral research papers show that outdoor teaching in mathematics can be an effective and complementary method to traditional mathematic teaching. Our experience is that outdoor math does not apply much in today’s schools. The aim of this study is to investigate teacher’s attitudes towards the choice of teaching methods in mathematics and to get a greater insight into what factors influence this choice. The issue underlying the study is: What factors that affects whether a teacher uses or does not use outdoor mathematics in their teaching? International studies show that Swedish students results in mathematics have deteriorated. To improve the quality of mathematic teaching and get a greater fulfilment among students, an effort for mathematics development in Swedish schools is ongoing. Our study is based on a survey among trained teachers in primary school at four schools in two small municipalities. The result shows that all respondents consider that both outdoor mathematics as well as traditional mathematic teaching in the classroom are effective methods. The factors that affect respondents´ choice of teaching methods are very much personal interest and professional skills. Factors affecting teachers in low grade were the parents' view and school management initiative. Furthermore, it was seen that teachers' educational background not had a major influence on choice of teaching method. The challenge ahead is to get teachers to feel confident in their professional role for daring to try new forms in their teaching mathematic.
