Abstract:
Consumers associate meat color with quality. In some cases, especially in fresh and cured hams, the surface of a ham, whole, boneless or sectioned and formed displays a color gradient, which is unsightly and generally is considered of lower quality and must be discounted or processed different where color is less critical to the ultimate value of the resulting product. This disparity in color uniformity across fresh and cured products is sometimes known as two-toning and is most often found in the semimembranosus (SM) and associated muscles of fresh hams and is exacerbated with curing. Harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) are the most abundant cetacean in UK waters, and are likely to be affected by a variety of marine industries and activities. The findings can be split into five key themes, and are used to support the development of spatial management and survey recommendations. 1. This thesis aims to investigate causes of variation in the condition of Atlantic cod using long-term, high-resolution liver-weight databases. The Liver Condition Index (LCI), the weight of the liver as a percentage of total body weight, is used as a measure of condition. The first study presented in this thesis is an analysis of the causes of inter- and intraannual variation in the condition of Northeast Arctic cod. Temperature is identified as an important factor influencing condition. Increasing temperature is shown to positively impact condition at both inter- and intraannual timescales.

Importantly, inorganic arsenic (As) is taken up by rice through Si transporters. Abstract:

Mitochondrial content, an important determinant of muscle metabolic capacity, changes in individuals during development, and in response to physiological and environmental challenges. This phenotypic plasticity is attributed to the coactivator PPARγ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) but it remains unclear if this transcriptional regulator accounts for evolutionary variation in mitochondrial content. In an attempt to explain why some species have higher muscle mitochondrial enzyme levels than other species, I examined if the transcriptional mechanisms that control mitochondrial content of a tissue in an

Abstract:
Heterotrophic bacterioplankton plays a pivotal role in marine food webs and biogeochemical cycling. However, their temporal dynamics and underlying factors are still poorly understood in many regions, including the tropical waters of the Red Sea. The main goal of the MS project was to describe the seasonality and assess the impact of top-down controls (viruses and heterotrophic nanoflagellates) in parallel to bottom-up controls (substrate availability) on coastal bacterioplankton on a weekly basis. To that end, we monitored the abundance of the different planktonic groups by flow cytometry tog

碩士
國立交通大學
電控工程研究所
101
To maintain high efficiency and power factor over wide load variation range is very difficult by a boost PFC converter using conventional analog control. This thesis proposes a multi-mode control method using repetitive and adaptive control techniques to improve light load efficiency and power factor. A new current sensing scheme is developed to detect the average current under fixed, variable switching frequency operation or in discontinuous mode without current sampling correction or oversampling method. An adaptive switching frequency control technique is d
