Abstract:
Colours are nothing but lights of different frequencies and wavelengths. Every colour is a kind of radiation and so, colours used for walls do have a profound influence on people living in the space. Important aspects such as decision-making, cheerfulness, calmness and vibrancy can be achieved by the right use of colors. Vastu, which is based on principles of energies and radiations, gives precise guidelines about use of colours depending on the directional aspect and usage pattern of the room.Colors according to Vaastu Shastra play an imperative role in bringing balance to our minds as well as bodies and to stimulate our energy. Therefore colors in a Home, Office, Factory, and Shop should be coordinated with the colors of respective planets and elements associated with different directions.Colors have a huge impact on our lives. Colors possess the power to lift our mood, raise our energy levels and increase our productivity. Vastu shastra prescribes certain floor and wall colors for the home to promote prosperity, good health and well-being. Colour scheme is an arrangement or pattern of colors or colored objects conceived of as forming an integrated whole or a combination of colours that has been chosen for a particular room

Abstract:
The primary focus of this research is to analyze and design a multi-storey building (3D-dimensional reinforce concrete frame), the designing of building begins with making the plan of specific building which include the position of rooms, kitchen, toilet etc. the design should be such that it is up to mark of customer requirements and comport nowadays vastu shastra is also kept in mind while designing. The second step is to design the reinforced concrete part which includes designing of slabs, columns, beams, staircase and footing these designing’s were done manually and all the calculations were done according ACT code and the outcomes were compared using STAAD PRO. I design an office building which is made of reinforced concrete frames and the building has three floors with 12 offices on each floor which sum up to 36 offices and the maximum area of a floor is (21.9*40.9) m2. To complete the architectural design, I AutoCAD program and for analyzing and designing the structure of building I used software known as STAAD Pro v8iSSS.and after both the designing I got the results as the map of a building which is architectural and structural safe. For designing the structural plan and architectural design one requires high imagination power as well as theoretical knowledge and also keen knowledge of science of structural engineering and should know the recent design codes, laws and before designing he should have adequate experience and mind set to reach conclusion. STAAD PRO is a very user friendly software it is and easy to understand and operate. We can input the material properties, load value, dimensions and we can also draw the frame within the software and after taking all the data it analyze the whole structure and design the member with reinforced detail for concrete frame and all the designs are done under specified criteria. These criteria are implemented to keep careful balance between economy and safety.

Abstract:
A recurrent idea in Indian philosophical, theological, and mythological systems is that of a universe manifested through a sequence of emanations. Diverse traditions of doctrine and practice share this vision of the progression from the one to the many. Temple designs often embody the same pattern. Within the diverse traditions of Indian temple architecture, an emanatory scheme is observable both in the formal structure of individual temple designs, which express a dynamic sequence of emergence and growth, and in the way in which temple forms develop throughout the course of such traditions. The canonical Sanskrit texts on architecture (Vastu Shastras) share this emanatory way of thinking, presenting varied temple typologies in which designs develop from simple to complex, emerging sequentially one from another. These texts provide a framework for design that demands interpretation and improvisation, while leading to results that are only partly determined by the individual architect. This contributes to a sense, powerfully established by the unfolding potential of the tradition of architectural practice, that a new temple design is svayambhu (self-manifesting) appearing through a cosmic process from a supra-human source.

Abstract:
Luther Burbank (1849–1926) was a prolific ornamental plant breeder, who worked with 91 genera of ornamentals, from Abutilon to Zinnia, and released nearly 1000 cultivars to the industry. His innovative work included both herbaceous and woody plant materials as well as ornamental vegetables such as corn, tomatoes, and spineless cacti. His most popular ornamental release, the shasta daisy hybrids—first released in 1901, is still on the global market. This article focuses on Luther Burbank’s breeding techniques with ornamental plants and how both the germplasms that he developed and his methodologies used permeate modern flower breeding. Genera with the highest number of cultivars bred and released by Burbank include Amaryllis, Hippeastrum, and Crinum followed by Lilium, Hemerocallis, Watsonia, Papaver, Gladiolus, Dahlia, and Rosa. With Lilium, he pioneered breeding the North American native lily species, particularly those from the Pacific coastal region, producing the eponymous Lilium ×burbankii. Burbank’s breeding enterprise was designed to be self-sustaining based on profits from selling the entire product line of a new cultivar or crop only to wholesale firms, who then held exclusives for propagation and selling, although financial hardships necessitated selling retail occasionally. Entire lots of selected seedlings were sold to the highest bidder with Burbank setting the price in his annual catalogs such as the Burbank Hybrid Lilies lot for U.S. $250,000 or some of the “very handsome, hardy ones” for U.S. $250 to U.S. $10,000 each. Other flower cultivars also commanded high prices such as seedling Giant Amaryllis that sold for U.S. $1.55/bulb in 1909. Cacti were another area of emphasis (he released more than 63 cultivars) from the spineless fruiting and forage types (Opuntia ficus-indica, O. tuna, O. vulgaris) to flowering ornamentals such as O. basilaris, Cereus chilensis, and Echinopsis mulleri. Interest in cacti during 1909–15 rivaled the Dutch Tulip mania with exorbitant fees for a single “slab” of a cultivar, speculative investments, controversy with noted cacti specialists (particularly David Griffiths), and lawsuits by The Burbank Company. Although most cultivars have been lost, Burbank’s reputation as the Father of American Ornamental Breeding remains admirable from critics and devotees alike.

Ellis, Eugenia Victoria. "SQUARING THE CIRCLE: The Regulating Lines of Claude Bragdon's Theosophic Architecture." Diss., Virginia Tech, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/26491.

Full text
Abstract:
Traditionally, squaring the circle has been about bringing the incommensurable work of the gods within the realm of the commensurate by using infinite cosmic principles to regulate the finite world. The American architect Claude Bragdon (1866-1946) squared the circle using his Theosophic architectural theory that was based on a neo-Pythagorean emphasis on Number, which he believed to have contained the secret of the universe. America at the turn of the 20th century was interested in Eastern spirituality at the beginning of an age of scientific relativity when the world and universe were being questioned due to new scientific discoveries based on higher-dimensional mathematical speculations that challenged relationships between humankind and the cosmos. Paralleling this scientific search was the Western conquest of the world on earth, which brought back speculations about the Near and Far East, including translations of their ancient scriptures and encyclopedias of their architecture. The fourth dimension was an imaginary mathematical (re)creation of great interest to Bragdon and common to scientific relativity and Eastern spirituality; two cultural constructs that altered the perception of time and space to affect the American imagination and architectural production. Within this context, Squaring the Circle investigates the relationship of theory to practice by considering Bragdonâ s architecture as the material manifestation of his Theosophic architectural theory.
