Abstract:
Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) pose a major threat to human and animal health, with more than 80% of the global population being at risk of acquiring at least one major VBD. Being profoundly affected by the ongoing climate change and anthropogenic disturbances, modelling approaches become an essential tool to assess and compare multiple scenarios (past, present and future), and further the geographic risk of transmission of VBDs. Ecological niche modelling (ENM) is rapidly becoming the gold-standard method for this task. The purpose of this overview is to provide an insight of the use of ENM to

Vectors are living organisms that transmit infectious diseases from an infected animal to humans or another animal. Biological vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks, and sand flies carry pathogens that multiply within their bodies prior to delivery to a new host. The increased prevalence of Vector-Borne Diseases (VBDs) such as Aedes-borne dengue, Chikungunya (CHIKV), Zika (ZIKV), malaria, Tick-Borne Disease (TBD), and scrub typhus has a huge impact on the health of both humans and livestock worldwide. Across the globe, vector-borne diseases (VBD) are causes of health and economic concern, particularly for companion animals such as dogs and cats. The common clinical presentation ranges from subclinical to acute infection even a proportion with symptomatic manifestation. The diagnosis of asymptomatic animals with VBDs is quite challenging since veterinary practitioners do rely on presenting clinical signs to inform the choice of diagnostic plan. In Malaysia, blood smears (thin and thick) are employed in the diagnosis of VBDs such as babesiosis, anaplasmosis, theileriosis and trypanosomiasis.

Abstract:
Abstract The conventional sucker rod pump system is comprised of ball and seat-type traveling and standing check valves that use positive displacement to produce oil from the reservoir (Takacs 2015). With the advent of horizontal drilling and fracturing, sucker rod pumps are increasingly landed at greater depths and inclinations from vertical to maximize access to reserves and extend the production life of the well. This paper builds upon existing downhole vortex valve systems research to test and understand the potential of a vortex fluid flow profile. The Vortex Barbell System (VBS) was desi

Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes a series of towing tank tests using a scaled model of a recent container ship for validating the First Order Reliability Method (FORM) based approach to predict the maximum response. The FORM based approach is adopted in conjunction with the nonlinear strip method as an estimation method for the most probable wave episodes (MPWEs) leading to the given extreme wave-induced vertical bending moments (VBMs). Tank tests under the pre-determined MPWEs are conducted to evaluate the extreme wave-induced VBMs. Numerical simulations based on the coupled Computational Fluid
