This note is about the geometry of holomorphic foliations. Let X be a polynomial vector field with isolated singularities on C². We announce some results regarding two problems: 1. Given a finitely curved orbit L of X, under which conditions is L algebraic? 2. If X has some non-algebraic finitely curved orbit L what is the classification of X? Problem 1 is related to the following question: Let C <FONT FACE=Symbol>Ì</FONT> C² be a holomorphic curve which has finite total Gaussian curvature. IsC contained in an algebraic curve?

The algorithm, by translating the node coordinate, simplifies the solution to double center coordinate matrix, and gets the coordinate inner product matrix; then it uses statistical uncorrelated vectors to reconstruct the coordinates of the inner product matrix and remove the correlation of inner matrix of coordinates caused by the ranging error, so as to reduce the impact of ranging error on subsequent positioning accuracy. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm does not consider the network traffic, bust still has good performance in localization. At last, it is concluded that reducing the amount of communication of sensor nodes is beneficial to prolong the service life of the sensor nodes, thus increasing the lifetime of the whole network.</span>

Abstract:
<p>This article discusses a study conducted in order to analyse selected Digital Terrain Model (DTM) derivates in diverse young post-glacial topographic profiles with the aim of identifying terrain features that could be related to the soils that formed there. The area under investigation is within the reach of the youngest Vistulian Glaciation, in the north-east of Poland. The main goal of the study was to reveal indirect relationships between a lithological soil type and terrain forms, which transpire from DTM derivatives. This can directly help to assign the type of soil in the area to one of the three soil types: a) made of sand, b) made of loam, c) wet-soils. <span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: 9pt; color: #231f20; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal;">The starting point for<span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: 9pt; color: #231f20; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal;"> the research undertaken was the landscape approach to soil modelling and the article deals with<span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: 9pt; color: #231f20; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal;"> medium scales. </span></span></span>Derivatives were analysed using vector data notation, focusing on selected derivative values and their spatial location in relation to one another. The results obtained indicate the possibility of using this approach as an auxiliary approach in soil mapping of areas for which the quality of source materials (such as precipitation geometry) is low. Thus, they can be of assistance in improving the existing soil maps of selected scales. The trend revealed in the obtained results of DTM analysis can be considered as a contribution to realisation of assumptions of a study in digital soil mapping with the use of selected methods of AI.</p>

In this paper, the authors have used backpropagation artificial neural network, VQ(vector quantization), (Gaussian Mixture Models) and a combination of GMM and backpropagation artificial neural network for classifying dialects of Amharic language speakers. In this research, a total of 100 speakers for each group of dialects are considered each having about 10 seconds duration is collected. The feature vectors of Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) had been used to recognize the dialects of speakers. In this research paper the recognition model that uses a tanh activation function have a better result instead of using the Logistic Sigmoid activation function in backpropagation artificial neural network. After conducting the above experiments 95.7% accuracy achieved when GMM and backpropagation artificial neural network with tanh activation function are combined.</span>

Abstract:
Textual information embedded in multimedia can provide a vital tool for indexing and retrieval. Text extraction process has many inherent problems due to the variation in font sizes, color, backgrounds and resolution. Text detection and localization are the most challenging phases of text extraction process whereas text extraction results are highly dependent upon these phases. This paper focuses on the text localization because of its very fundamental importance. Two effective feature vectors are introduced for the classification of the text and nontext objects. First feature vector is represented by the Radon transform of text candidate objects. Second feature vector is derived from the detailed geometrical analysis of text contents. Union of two feature vectors is used for the classification of text and nontext objects using support vector machine (SVM). Text detection and localization results are evaluated on two publicly available datasets namely ICDAR 2013 and IPC-Artificial text. Moreover, results are compared with state-of-the-art techniques and the Comparison demonstrates the superiority of the presented research.

The other advantage of this SVM method is to reduce the total harmonic distortion of line-to-line output voltage. Abstract:
This paper presents a system for recognizing English fonts from character images. The distance profile is the feature of choice used in this paper. The system extracts a vector of 106 features and feeds it into a support vector machine (SVM) classifier with a radial basis function (RBF) kernel. The experiment is divided into three phases. In the first phase, the system trains the SVM with different Gamma and C parameters. In the second phase, the validation phase, we validate and select the pair of Gamma and C values that yield the best recognition rates. In the final phase, the testing phase, the images are tested and the recognition rate is reported. Experimental results based on 27,620 characters glyph images from three English fonts show a 94.82% overall recognition rate.

Today, designers work in tandem with computerized tools to create stylized graphic designs, diagrams, and icons. In this work, we explore the applications of generative modeling to the design of vectorized drawings, with a focus on font glyphs. We establish a data-driven approach for creating preliminary graphics upon which designers can iterate. To accomplish this, we present an end-to-end pipeline for a supervised training system on Scalable Vector Graphics (SVGs) that learns to reconstruct training data and produce similar but novel examples. We demonstrate its results on selected characters using a Google Fonts dataset of 2552 font faces. Our approach uses a variational autoencoder to learn sequences of SVG drawing commands and is capable of both recreating ground truth inputs and generating unseen, editable SVG outputs. To investigate improvements to model performance, we perform two experiments: one on the effects of various SVG feature encodings on generated outputs, and one on a modified architecture that explicitly encodes style and class separately for multi-class generation.

Full text
Abstract:

Stylized Stroke Fonts (SSF) are stroke fonts which allow variable stroke widths and arbitrary stroke ends. In this thesis project we implement SSF by extending concepts of the traditional vector graphics paradigm, giving what we call Vector Graphics Stylized Stroke Fonts (VGSSF). A stroking algorithm for the new stroke model is developed and implemented in the Opera web browser's internal vector graphics drawing toolkit. Both the HTML 5 Canvas JavaScript interface and SVG fonts are extended to support the new stroke model. An editor and renderer for the SVG font format is implemented inside the browser using the extended Canvas interface. Sample glyphs from Latin and Chinese typefaces are converted to the SVG font format to assess the suitability of the stroke representation. The results are excellent for Chinese Ming typeface glyphs, while there are some minor problems with Latin typeface glyphs. Approximations suggest that VGSSF gives a size reduction of the font definition file by at least 50%, with a potential reduction of around 85% for Chinese typefaces. The processing requirements increase by approximately 20-30% due to extra steps required to render each glyph.

Thesis, Montpellier, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015MONTS125/document.

Full text
Abstract:
Since almost a century, underwater robots have been developed in order to respond to the specific needs of historical actors of the domain (military, hydrocarbons exploitation, underwater cabling or benthic exploration), without addressing specifically the question of versatility or modularity of the underwater platform. This thesis aims to address these questions on a technological solution dedicated to shallow water or confined environment. In other words, the objective is to realise an underwater system, able to evolve on the mechanical, electronical or software aspects. This requires to properly conceptualise this « versatility » with an abstraction of the control architecture, on the actuation aspect, with the expression of the versatility linked to the actuation systems, or on the software architecture level, with a Service-Oriented-Architecture (SOA) approach, in order to tackle the diversity of the application requirements. This study is based on the Jack system, developed by the Ciscrea Company, which is the industrial partner of this project, and brings the economical aspect as a central requirement. This underlines another view of the versatility question, the development of a range of product for the Ciscrea Company. This thesis proposes the conception, realisation and experimentation of such a versatile underwater system, with test-tank and field validation

Abstract: This thesis concern a current control method for three-phase matrix converter and three-phase voltage source inverter without a dc link capacitor in order to mitigate and compensate the distortions present in the output voltages so that the output currents are sinosoidal. In these converters, because of lack of large storage elements, imbalances and/or distortions present in the input voltage will be immediately reflected to the converter output voltages. The proposed current control model forces the magnitude of the output space vector current to be constant through a PI controller that dynamically alters the duty cycle of the power converter switching for compensating the imbalances and distortions from input voltages. The performance of this current control is validated by simulations implemented in Matlab and experimental results on the prototype of a voltage source inverter without a DC link capacitor feeding a three-phase RL load

The Sandflies are insects diptera nematocera belonging to the Psychodidae family, very important for public health, because some species are vectors of etiological agents of leishmaniasis, endemic parasitic disease in the state of Maranhão and in Brazil. These vectors are frequently found in natural ecotopes, domestic animal shelters and human habitations. This research aimed to study the occurrence of sandflies in the urban and rural peridomiciliary environment of municipality of Caxias, Maranhão, in notification area of cases of cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis, as well as the rate of natural infection by Leishmania and analysis of blood food source. This is a cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive and field study, with a quantitative approach, performed from March 2013 to February 2015. The specimens were collected with CDC (Center for Disease Control) light traps type in 20 homes, 10 in urban area and 10 in rural area. Were collected 15,895 specimens belonging to 17 species, one of genus Brumptomyia and 16 of Lutzomyia. The most abundant species were Lu. longipalpis (90.26%) and Lu. whitmani (7.65%). In the urban area the abundance of sandflies was higher in rainy season, and in the rural area in the dry season. Lu. longipalpis and Lu. whitmani occurred in two seasons, most frequently in rainy and dry season, respectively. From a total of 3, 520 female, 982 samples were used for DNA and PCR-RFLP extraction for detecting the presence of Leishmania. The vector Lu. longipalpis was found infected by Le. infantum (3.0%); Le. shawi (0.3%); Le. mexicana (0.2%); Le. braziliensis (0.6%) and Le. guyanensis (0.6%) and with mixed infection Le. infantum/Le. braziliensis (0.6%). The specie Lu. whitmani was infected by Le. infantum/Le. braziliensis (4.0%) and Le. braziliensis (4.3%). Other species found infected include: Lu. trinidadensis with Le. infantum/Le. braziliensis and Lu. evandroi and Lu. termitophila with Le. braziliensis and Le. guyanensis respectively. Based on these results it is suggested adopting control measures by the public health authorities to contain a future epidemic of AVL in this area, which is also endemic to ACL. For detection of food source were captured 778 engorged females, 573 were positive for eight different types of domestic and wild animals: dog, man, chicken, ox, pig, horse, rodent and opossum; obtaining mixed reactions in eight different associations: dog/rodent, man/chicken, chicken/rodent, dog/chicken, horse/rodent, rodent/pig and man/opossum. The presence of sandflies species infected with different species of leishmanias and fed with blood of domestic animals and human justifies the occurrence of endemic form of visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis in the municipality of Caxias. Based on these results it is suggested adoption of control measures by the public health authorities to contain a future epidemic of these diseases.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Tremor is an involuntary quivering movement or shake. Characteristically occurring at rest, the classic slow, rhythmic tremor of Parkinson's disease (PD) typically starts in one hand, foot, or leg and can eventually affect both sides of the body. The resting tremor of PD can also occur in the jaw, chin, mouth, or tongue. Loss of dopamine leads to the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and may include a tremor. For some people, a tremor might be the first symptom of PD. Various studies have proposed measurable technologies and the analysis of the characteristics of Parkinsonian tremors using different techniques. Various machine-learning algorithms such as a support vector machine (SVM) with three kernels, a discriminant analysis, a random forest, and a kNN algorithm are also used to classify and identify various kinds of tremors. This chapter focuses on an in-depth review on identification and classification of various Parkinsonian tremors using machine learning algorithms.

Abstract:
BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) gives you the power to manipulate things around you just by thinking of what you want to do. It allows your thoughts to be interpreted by the computer and hence act upon it. This could be utilized in helping disabled people, remote controlling of robots or even getting personalized systems depending upon your mood. The most important part of any BCI application is interpreting the brain signalsasthere are many mental tasks to be considered. In this chapter, the authors focus on interpreting motor imagery tasks and more specifically, imagining left hand, right hand, foot and tongue. Interpreting the signal consists of two main steps: feature extraction and classification. For the feature extraction,Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) was used and for the classification, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) with Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel was used. The authors evaluated this system using the BCI competition IV dataset and reached a very promising accuracy.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Kinetic typography - text in motion is an animation method of characters that has a video form instead of some "static" form such as picture, poster or book. The most important element for figuration of kinetic typography is the choice of font. Furthermore, one should think about the letter cut, the size and color of the characters, and the background color on which the animation takes place. It can be created in various ways, most often using software that applies a multitude of effects to the text or letter character, creating dynamic solutions. The effects vary from the simplest such as "fade-in" and "fade-out" (entering and exiting text in and out of the frame). Static characters can expand, narrow, move slowly or rapidly, grow and change in a variety of ways to very complex ones in which the author builds an entire story or promotional video by carefully combining software capabilities. However, each software has its limitations and for this reason the kinetic typography presented in this paper is programmed using codes. In a wide range of available programming languages due to the simple interface that does not require advanced programming concepts and gives exceptional results in the field of kinetic typography, Processing was chosen. The Processing programming language is intended for generating and modifying graphics and is based on the Java programming language. The most important difference between Processing and Java is that Processing offers a simple programming interface that does not require advanced levels of programming such as classes, objects, or animations. It also allows advanced users to use them. Processing uses a variety of typography rendering approaches such as raster and vector solutions and allows typography to be programmed and displayed on the Web independently of the user's Web browser and font database. Processing enables the use of visual elements in animation, including typographic ones, by introducing interaction to the user. The user is no longer a passive observer but actively participates in the performance of the application whose final appearance is not predefined but arises from the actions of each individual user. For the purposes of this paper, individual letters were created in a font-making program. The letters made are of various written classifications and cuts, which with their variety contribute to the attractiveness of the animation. In the creating of motion typography in this paper, the programming language Processing was used. Written program codes that manipulate words, letters, or parts of characters to create interesting visual effects for the viewer that aim to hold the viewer's attention and convey the desired message or emotion. There are no strict rules and patterns when making kinetic typography. In kinetic typography, each author determines his own rules, method of production, and there are no same solutions.
