Full textIn a high technological context of strong competition, several companies base their strategy on innovation. Without information about new technology developments, competitors' strategy and market size, the decision-making for innovative project becomes more hazardous. So, STMicroelectronics built its strategy on innovation in order to improve the marketing of new products. To support this innovation strategy and to help the decision makers to know all necessary information to a decision-making, the STMicroelectronics Tours site has created a competitive intelligence (CI) team: the Market Intelligence. To support the innovation, the Market Intelligence is organized according to three kind of Intelligence: The Helpful Intelligence which supply information for the most part of employees The Company Area Intelligence which allow to watch the competitors, the customers, the suppliers, etc. The Project Intelligence which consists in the study of complex topics in collaboration with experts. In order to improve the first step of innovation process, the Market Intelligence team has set up a new process: the expert group approach. It was created in order to share and analyze information between experts with the aim of supporting the Management to identify new strategic trends

Full textThis thesis presents a feedback on the competitive intelligence device set up in Marseille Innovation to allow open source software editors housed in its business incubator, to effectively monitor their environment in order to detect new opportunities for development. This project is part of a comprehensive approach, led by Marseille Innovation and its partners to structure a network of open source companies in the PACA area (south of France).First, we achieved a state of the art of open source literature emphasizing the paradox posed by the open source model for software editors who choose to use free software licenses : the adoption of an open source model by some editors for their software allows a value creation that could be greater than that generated through traditional proprietary models, but this advantage is offset by a dangerous uncertainty as to the value capture, could be recovered by competitors who have yet made no programming effort to and not having incurred costs. Subsequently, we presented the birth of free software as the result of changes in the computer industry that marked the early '70s, changes which caused the passage of free software from non commercial/public sphere to commercial/private sphere. In response, defenders of free software have invented an original system of "public licenses" to protect these software’s against any technical or legal interlocking of their use, their distribution and their modification. However, if these public licenses allow to promote a value creation, through the cooperation of a community of programmers and software distribution, the randomness of remuneration in the open source model has led software editors to seek and invent new "Business Models" more or less random, to better ensure their income.Based on knowledge accumulated on the open source model, we have subsequently explained the approach initiated by Marseille Innovation, in collaboration with Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and Libertis, to structure a network of open source companies in the PACA area. This approach led to the launch of several projects of mutual interest, including one on the setting-up of a monitoring device to monitor open source software industry. The approach adopted to setting-up this monitoring device consists in a first step to establish a state of the art of different theoretical approaches and practices identified in the information and communication sciences’ literature. Then, a pragmatic approach of monitoring has been chosen. Organizational means, processual and technical have been studied to set up this monitoring device. Raising awareness actions to competitive intelligence were also conducted with members of the network and open source startups coached by Marseille Innovation, through which information needs are identified and information products are developed to enable members of open source network to effectively monitor their environment. Bibliometric studies are also made to meet the expectations of open source companies on how to create and capture value in the open source software model, about promising market segments, software licenses and business models that result

Full textThe dissertation aims to examine competitive intelligence manifestations in SMEs. In order to do it, and following a functional approach, we show the theoretical interest of the French acceptation of the competitive intelligence concept. Competitive intelligence is presented as the combination of three informational functions (intelligence, informational risk management and influence). On this basis, we develop a measurement scale, whose practical application in 103 SMEs highlights three groups having different informational practices. 20% of SMEs make competitive intelligence. They use more networks more often, have a more participative management. Competitive intelligence practice is linked to strategic vision, to an international competititon and to specific strategis moves. Among SPMEs mangers, the minority that practices it seems to have a specific culture or personality

Full textNowadays, the success or the failure of a strategic decision made by a firm depends more and more on the value and relevance of the informaton it has. From this point of view, it has to observe its environment continuously and systematically. This Ph. D thesis deals'with the conception and implementation of a Strategic and Competitive Intelligence system applied to the helicopter industry. After a detailed description of the strategic and economic framework of the helicopter industry, this report aims at describing and analysing, for a given firm, two main components of the firm information system: the documentary information subsystem and the strategic information subsystem. This analysis is based for the most part on a survey carried out in situe with more than three hundred and fifty executives and engineers. From these analysis, proposals to make match the information needs with the means are described. These works of applied research, realised in an industrial environment and based on concrete needs have resulted in the elaboration of a methodology and of an efficient and durable organisation of a watch cell. In the guiding scheme of the strategic and competitive watch, the choice of a flexible organisation and the necessity of locating this cell in the centre of the strategic challenges has been stressed

Full textThe purpose of this thesis is a better understanding of information processes contributing to strategic management. More specifically, the aim is to represent the overall information selection process in the field of business intelligence. A major point lies in the nature of the information it is dealt with that is to say early warning signs. In the first part, the main theoretical concepts are reviewed among which strategic intelligence, weak signal and business intelligence. Within this latter field, the issue of information selection is raised and conceptualized. The need for appropriate procedural support emerges both theoretically and practically. The second part refers more to the author's production. First, methodological choices are specified. Engineering management, which is closed to action research, is retained. Then, a procedural support for the selection of early warning signs is designed and implemented within four organizations. These practical interventions are described throughout four monographies. Empirical observations highlight the perceived practicability and utility of the support tool. On a theoretical standpoint, loops on initial concepts allow the author to achieve a better understanding of the problematic. The selection process and the concept of early warning sign are refined. Finally, the concept of collective strategic intelligence emerges. Prospects and limits are discussed in the conclusion

Full textInformation literacy is one of competences conferred to individual employability in information and knowledge society (IKS). By Requiring employable skills (EC), this society acquires a new dimension (SICS & CE) and passes labor market from classic concept of "job market" to "employability market (MEMP)" seeking flexibility and adaptive skills to changes. Foresight Scanning in general and specifically digital one, works by its "Information and Knowledge Production Process" to develop information literacy/Internet (CIVI) to improve various individual skills. In this sense, this thesis evolves in a qualitative and interpretative exploratory approach, to treat the issue of quality skills development, defining the employability of university students. It seeks to know how a universities’ foresight scanning will improve quality of their employable CIVI culture skill, by adopting in its informational production process, a market-oriented relational marketing involving university students as "internal customers ", as well as employability market actors as" external customers " ?Evolving in a socio-constructivist perspective, series of evaluations on skills and satisfactions of learners as well as their skills CIVI assessment models were developed as part of a competency based approach (SBA) adopting a relational internal and external marketing. This approach is characterized firstly by an "Orientation-Involvement of Learners-Clients: OI-APCL" and secondly by an "Orientation-Involvement of employability market: OI-MEMP," based on an educational blog as informational Web.2.0 System and monitoring tool designed to develop competency in information literacy learners. This led us to conclude in the orientation forward an employability university, skills levels improvement by declining secular groups CIVI culture, from 88.74% to 41.94% and a need for training CIVI rate of Culture from 89.50% to 46.50% resulting to learner employability and the recruitment of three groups of the 20 pairs graduate students involved in our work, This recommends adoption of an " Foresight Scanning employability" for quality development skills in SICS&CE society seeking now more than information and knowledge, but also flexibility skills to adapt changes and innovations defining really individual employability

Full textThis report presents a study of the needs for the glass industry's actors in terms of elaborated informations and also the necessary tools and means for setting up a strategic watch system covering the glass industry as a whole and based on an experts network. The adopted strategy initially consists in sensitizing the different actors participating in the strategic watch system, by aiming more particularly two actors whose participation is vital for the success of this system: experts (to ensure relevance and value-added to the stategic watch studies) and decision makers (to study the needs and to create demand). Then, a strategy-network was set up, implicating external experts in the strategic watch process in order to capitalize their knowledge and competences. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Economy, Finances and Industry, to the strategic watch system set up, the first french glass industry's Internet portal was created so as to ensure sharing and diffusion of strategic informations on the glass sector
