Full textIn a high technological context of strong competition, several companies base their strategy on innovation. Without information about new technology developments, competitors' strategy and market size, the decision-making for innovative project becomes more hazardous. So, STMicroelectronics built its strategy on innovation in order to improve the marketing of new products. To support this innovation strategy and to help the decision makers to know all necessary information to a decision-making, the STMicroelectronics Tours site has created a competitive intelligence (CI) team: the Market Intelligence. To support the innovation, the Market Intelligence is organized according to three kind of Intelligence: The Helpful Intelligence which supply information for the most part of employees The Company Area Intelligence which allow to watch the competitors, the customers, the suppliers, etc. The Project Intelligence which consists in the study of complex topics in collaboration with experts. In order to improve the first step of innovation process, the Market Intelligence team has set up a new process: the expert group approach. It was created in order to share and analyze information between experts with the aim of supporting the Management to identify new strategic trends

Full textThis thesis presents a feedback on the competitive intelligence device set up in Marseille Innovation to allow open source software editors housed in its business incubator, to effectively monitor their environment in order to detect new opportunities for development. This project is part of a comprehensive approach, led by Marseille Innovation and its partners to structure a network of open source companies in the PACA area (south of France).First, we achieved a state of the art of open source literature emphasizing the paradox posed by the open source model for software editors who choose to use free software licenses : the adoption of an open source model by some editors for their software allows a value creation that could be greater than that generated through traditional proprietary models, but this advantage is offset by a dangerous uncertainty as to the value capture, could be recovered by competitors who have yet made no programming effort to and not having incurred costs. Subsequently, we presented the birth of free software as the result of changes in the computer industry that marked the early '70s, changes which caused the passage of free software from non commercial/public sphere to commercial/private sphere. In response, defenders of free software have invented an original system of "public licenses" to protect these software’s against any technical or legal interlocking of their use, their distribution and their modification. However, if these public licenses allow to promote a value creation, through the cooperation of a community of programmers and software distribution, the randomness of remuneration in the open source model has led software editors to seek and invent new "Business Models" more or less random, to better ensure their income.Based on knowledge accumulated on the open source model, we have subsequently explained the approach initiated by Marseille Innovation, in collaboration with Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and Libertis, to structure a network of open source companies in the PACA area. This approach led to the launch of several projects of mutual interest, including one on the setting-up of a monitoring device to monitor open source software industry. The approach adopted to setting-up this monitoring device consists in a first step to establish a state of the art of different theoretical approaches and practices identified in the information and communication sciences’ literature. Then, a pragmatic approach of monitoring has been chosen. Organizational means, processual and technical have been studied to set up this monitoring device. Raising awareness actions to competitive intelligence were also conducted with members of the network and open source startups coached by Marseille Innovation, through which information needs are identified and information products are developed to enable members of open source network to effectively monitor their environment. Bibliometric studies are also made to meet the expectations of open source companies on how to create and capture value in the open source software model, about promising market segments, software licenses and business models that result

Full textThe dissertation aims to examine competitive intelligence manifestations in SMEs. In order to do it, and following a functional approach, we show the theoretical interest of the French acceptation of the competitive intelligence concept. Competitive intelligence is presented as the combination of three informational functions (intelligence, informational risk management and influence). On this basis, we develop a measurement scale, whose practical application in 103 SMEs highlights three groups having different informational practices. 20% of SMEs make competitive intelligence. They use more networks more often, have a more participative management. Competitive intelligence practice is linked to strategic vision, to an international competititon and to specific strategis moves. Among SPMEs mangers, the minority that practices it seems to have a specific culture or personality

Full textNowadays, the success or the failure of a strategic decision made by a firm depends more and more on the value and relevance of the informaton it has. From this point of view, it has to observe its environment continuously and systematically. This Ph. D thesis deals'with the conception and implementation of a Strategic and Competitive Intelligence system applied to the helicopter industry. After a detailed description of the strategic and economic framework of the helicopter industry, this report aims at describing and analysing, for a given firm, two main components of the firm information system: the documentary information subsystem and the strategic information subsystem. This analysis is based for the most part on a survey carried out in situe with more than three hundred and fifty executives and engineers. From these analysis, proposals to make match the information needs with the means are described. These works of applied research, realised in an industrial environment and based on concrete needs have resulted in the elaboration of a methodology and of an efficient and durable organisation of a watch cell. In the guiding scheme of the strategic and competitive watch, the choice of a flexible organisation and the necessity of locating this cell in the centre of the strategic challenges has been stressed

Full textThe purpose of this thesis is a better understanding of information processes contributing to strategic management. More specifically, the aim is to represent the overall information selection process in the field of business intelligence. A major point lies in the nature of the information it is dealt with that is to say early warning signs. In the first part, the main theoretical concepts are reviewed among which strategic intelligence, weak signal and business intelligence. Within this latter field, the issue of information selection is raised and conceptualized. The need for appropriate procedural support emerges both theoretically and practically. The second part refers more to the author's production. First, methodological choices are specified. Engineering management, which is closed to action research, is retained. Then, a procedural support for the selection of early warning signs is designed and implemented within four organizations. These practical interventions are described throughout four monographies. Empirical observations highlight the perceived practicability and utility of the support tool. On a theoretical standpoint, loops on initial concepts allow the author to achieve a better understanding of the problematic. The selection process and the concept of early warning sign are refined. Finally, the concept of collective strategic intelligence emerges. Prospects and limits are discussed in the conclusion

Full textInformation literacy is one of competences conferred to individual employability in information and knowledge society (IKS). By Requiring employable skills (EC), this society acquires a new dimension (SICS & CE) and passes labor market from classic concept of "job market" to "employability market (MEMP)" seeking flexibility and adaptive skills to changes. Foresight Scanning in general and specifically digital one, works by its "Information and Knowledge Production Process" to develop information literacy/Internet (CIVI) to improve various individual skills. In this sense, this thesis evolves in a qualitative and interpretative exploratory approach, to treat the issue of quality skills development, defining the employability of university students. It seeks to know how a universities’ foresight scanning will improve quality of their employable CIVI culture skill, by adopting in its informational production process, a market-oriented relational marketing involving university students as "internal customers ", as well as employability market actors as" external customers " ?Evolving in a socio-constructivist perspective, series of evaluations on skills and satisfactions of learners as well as their skills CIVI assessment models were developed as part of a competency based approach (SBA) adopting a relational internal and external marketing. This approach is characterized firstly by an "Orientation-Involvement of Learners-Clients: OI-APCL" and secondly by an "Orientation-Involvement of employability market: OI-MEMP," based on an educational blog as informational Web.2.0 System and monitoring tool designed to develop competency in information literacy learners. This led us to conclude in the orientation forward an employability university, skills levels improvement by declining secular groups CIVI culture, from 88.74% to 41.94% and a need for training CIVI rate of Culture from 89.50% to 46.50% resulting to learner employability and the recruitment of three groups of the 20 pairs graduate students involved in our work, This recommends adoption of an " Foresight Scanning employability" for quality development skills in SICS&CE society seeking now more than information and knowledge, but also flexibility skills to adapt changes and innovations defining really individual employability

Full textThis report presents a study of the needs for the glass industry's actors in terms of elaborated informations and also the necessary tools and means for setting up a strategic watch system covering the glass industry as a whole and based on an experts network. The adopted strategy initially consists in sensitizing the different actors participating in the strategic watch system, by aiming more particularly two actors whose participation is vital for the success of this system: experts (to ensure relevance and value-added to the stategic watch studies) and decision makers (to study the needs and to create demand). Then, a strategy-network was set up, implicating external experts in the strategic watch process in order to capitalize their knowledge and competences. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Economy, Finances and Industry, to the strategic watch system set up, the first french glass industry's Internet portal was created so as to ensure sharing and diffusion of strategic informations on the glass sector

Full textThe theory that postulates the link between information and decision-making has been frequently presented in the academic literature as an essential element of the functioning and performance of the enterprise. This theory is sometimes contradicted by the practice. This questions the assumption that strategic intelligence is useful for the strategic decision-making, especially in industrial groups. Our research aims to understand how those who produce the watch and those who exploit it interact and what are the elements that improve or prevent the decision-makers. It is based primarily on a case study in an industry group in the health sector. The main results of this work show that watchmen have a marginal influence on strategic decision-making. They also show a gap between the objectives pursued by the leader and the information he receives from the watchers. The leader makes the strategic decision while being influenced by other determinants that limit his or her use of the information received. These determinants are the place of the strategic veil in the hierarchy and in the process of creation of meaning; the characteristics of information and the organization of the information circuit; those who inform the leader, the information sought by the leader and the degree of acceptance by the latter of the weak signal. Finally, our work proposes possible areas for improvement to be implemented in companies

Full textThe management of information and knowledge flows, as well external, tacit and explicit, formal and abstract, is essential for the companies. For an R&D center, information and knowledge management is of great importance in the définition of strategic planning and innovation. However the exponential growth of information available makes difficult the access to the one which is really relevant and useful, and therefore it is necessary to take into account overall all flows circulating in and around these organizations. Technology monitoring and strategic intelligence must be coordinated in order to put in relation human and technical networks. Within this framework, the various functionalities of Internet could be a fantastic tool and support to answer to the needs. However the tools available do not always respond to the real needs, then the organizations must develop or adapt specific functionalities. To obtain useful information and to share knowledge, we designed and developed a modular and easily adaptable portal for users' communities. Its portability will be ensured by the use of technological module and multisystem programming languages. The main objective is to propose a global process for the human and technical networks management to contribute to the strategic decision-making

Full textIn an international context of instability, complexity and intense competition, environmental scanning is proving to be vital for organizations. Though this fact is true for all firms, it is all the more true for Tunisian Hospitality companies operating on geographically distant markets. Thus, the objective of this research is to examine the impact of environmental scanning activity on performance of the Tunisian Hospitality companies. Thanks to an analysis of the literature, we have identified five aspects of environmental scanning behaviour which can influence business performance. By applying our research model to the case of 130 Tunisian Hospitality companies, we were able to show that the formalization of scanning activity, the frequency of the scanning, the scope of environmental scanning, and integration of information into the strategic decisions, exert an influence on their performance. On the other hand, information sources used appears to have no impact on the performance of these companies

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to explain the role and importance of strategic intelligence as a tool for understanding the trends and dynamics of the travel industry and to identify the incentives that spur managers from this sector to adopt new ways of doing things. To understand how these mechanisms work, we decided to study an intelligence gathering organization active in the field of tourism, the Québec tourism intelligence network (QTIN). Our work focussed on a very specific research problem : how and for what ends do tourism managers use the information provided by the QTIN ? We also wished to determine whether the use and perception of the QTIN differed depending on whether managers worked in tourism-based businesses or in public organizations or associations related to tourism. We chose to empiracally examine the use of the QTIN to find out what purposes it serves. The framework looked at the use of the QTIN by tourism mangers who are rarely studied even though they are key actors in the field of tourism. Using a survey of 618 respondents, we were able to produce an overall sampling and then divide it into two sub-groups. Our approach enabled us to confirm the existence of distinct user behaviours and perceptions with regard to the QTIN for each sub-group even though both had access to the same content. According to nine research proposals, the articles and analysis of the QTIN unquestionably represent true strategic intelligence. Our study has confirmed that users approach strategic intelligence in two complementary ways : as a source of immediate information and a tool for long-term planning

Full textIn the field of Strategic Management, competitive imitation has often been described as a way not to follow. Paradoxically several empirical studies have shown that competitive imitation is a frequent phenomena. Building on the paradox between theory and practice, we try to understand how and why managers imitate their competitors’ strategy. This research embraces the recent turn in strategy research to practice-based theorizing. Drawing on several theoretical approaches, it addresses the topic of competitive imitation. Our integrative framework highlights two research issues. First, we examine the rationales behind imitation. Second, we try to understand how imitative behaviors derive from uncertainty. We chose the French Radio Broadcasting Industry to investigate these issues. Our empirical study is based on a data set of 40 interviews and various second-hand sources. Data have been analyzed and coded using NVivo software. Our main results are the following: (1) Imitation appears to be closely linked with programmers’ perception and experience of uncertainty. (2) They have to make decisions without being able to predict which records will reach success and which records will not. In this context, nine key practices of competitive imitation have been identified and classified. These results lead us to a discussion about the way competitive imitation practices interact with business strategy. We focus on programmers’ doubts and perception of uncertainty to go beyond the opposition of imitation and innovation

The other elements of our method come from the organizations and decision theories, social psychology and strategic management. Our research suggests that, under certain conditions and with some critical success factors, B. E. A. PRO might be an effective tactic of triggering a collective learning by doing process leading tunisian SMEs to question the existing way of seeing the environment

Full textThis research demonstrates two methods of text mining for strategic monitoring purposes: information extraction and Textometry. In strategic monitoring, text mining is used to automatically obtain information on the activities of corporations. For this objective, information extraction identifies and labels units of information, named entities (companies, places, people), which then constitute entry points for the analysis of economic activities or events. These include mergers, bankruptcies, partnerships, etc., involving corresponding corporations. A Textometric method, however, uses several statistical models to study the distribution of words in large corpora, with the goal of shedding light on significant characteristics of the textual data. In this research, Textometry, an approach traditionally considered incompatible with information extraction methods, is applied to the same corpus as an information extraction procedure in order to obtain information on economic events. Several textometric analyses (characteristic elements, co-occurrences) are examined on a corpus of online news feeds. The results are then compared to those produced by the information extraction procedure. Both approaches contribute differently to processing textual data, producing complementary analyses of the corpus. Following the comparison, this research presents the advantages for these two text mining methods in strategic monitoring of current events

Full textThis research focuses on the interaction between environmental scanning and innovation. The research question is the following: Does the implementation of the environmental scanning or its specific type contribute to innovation in organizations?Under a qualitative prism, this work is based on action research in a company of the catering sector in Armenia.According to the research results, the environmental scanning is a tool contributing to innovation even in an unstable context with low social protection. The informal environmental scanning conditioned by company’s internal culture is a source of performance if it is included in the strategic vision of the company. The combination of external and internal environmental scanning is essential for the development of business through innovation. The informal human resources scanning have a central role in the detection of internal conflicts, in the discovery of the potential of the employees and in the capture of the employee profiles in adequacy with the culture of the company. It contributes to the development of the employer brand of the company and to innovation. Moreover, the types of environmental scanning specific to the catering sector, as customer service and franchise network scanning, contribute as well to innovation, more particularly if they are linked with human resources scanning. This research also shows that political scanning is essential to ensure the sustainability and development of businesses in uncertain political contexts such as in Armenia, a country in transition

In the domain of the technical, Scientific and Economical surveillance, competitive technical intelligence will exactly give the satisfied solution for the information usage in the enterprise. Competitive Technical intelligence has to be implemented in Africa and in Côte d'Ivoire particulary in the context in the high global economics competition. The success of the competitive Technical Intelligence needs the feasible communication infrastructure to assure the information circulation. At BNETD in Côte d'Ivoire the implamentation of the infrastructure will be adapted to build the information superhigway in near future. The success of the application of a system requires a methodology of interdisciplinary approach. This is one of goal of the analyses performed in this PHD

Full textThe thesis drives a discussion on contributions of a strategic watch process to guide information practices of the CSCW software designers in very small business (VSB) context. We defend the idea that the actors of CSCW software design process have to build an ability to anticipate the meaning assigned by future users to the product they are specifying. This ability could be supported by a learning process to which a watch approach could participate. We think that the problem can be treated in two times. First, are the designers able to allow their design practices to evolve in order to build a knowledge on appropriation surroundings oriented to a more sociologicaland organizational perspective than functional and technical ? Then, can a learning process supported by strategic watch contribute to this evolution ? These questions are treated through a design project case study for which we identify different influence factors, then through a methodological proposition that we drive a critic approach at a second time and, finally, through a study on several methodological alternatives contribution

Full textThe anticipatory environmental scanning is a transverse organizational process through which a company intentionally tracks and uses pertinent information concerning its external environment to reach strategic objectives. This process is divided into different phases and involves people with interests and motivations that are sometimes contradictory. For those reasons, it is a complex process, difficult to set up and to implement normally and in a long term perspective. Our objective is to study the function of the Animation and to produce actionable knowledge. This actionable knowledge is integrated into a guide that will be used to follow-up and to help, "step by step", the beginners in the activity of animation. These beginners are responsible to set up a scanning device or to improve the existent and spontaneous practices of scanning. We build a theoretical framework of the Animation bringing together knowledge from different fields. An empirical work completes this framework. First, we have developed an exploratory research among Small and Medium Companies in Tunisia with the objective of identifying even simple scanning practices. Then, we have built a follow-up guide based in the theoretical knowledge and in the results of the qualitative analysis. Finally, we have tested this guide in three different companies. This final experiment allowed us to follow the beginners in the activity of animation and also to improve the existent scanning practices in the participant companies

Full textThe purpose of this dissertation is to study how quality norms as international norms SPS and TBT, standards or labels… setting up by North Countries. These non-tariff barriers play an important role in agricultural trade of South countries. We show that these measures have protectionism effects and are use as competitiveness trade strategy. In the first chapter we study the impact of SPS and TBT in the North-South trade. From a literature empirical and econometric analysis, we identify “stylized facts” that characterize the quality policies in agricultural trade. In the second chapter, we realize the scope and the limits of the main models of vertical differentiation, which consider the standards or the labels as quality signal or as trade barrier when the signal is establish by the government. To complete these analyses, we develop a mixed duopoly model with horizontal product differentiation to explain how south countries can conserve their comparatives advantages. In the third chapter, we show how the new agricultural technologies – organic agriculture, biotechnology and precision farming – have increased North-South disparities. We develop an international duopoly model with horizontal product differentiation. Firstly, we explain how precision farming allows the implementation of subsidies trade policy from North countries and, secondly, we show how this policy can threaten the competitiveness of South countries

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to understand how the competitive strategies influence the principals in the construction of their relationship to their subcontractors. The thesis is situated at the crossing of the transactional, relational and political approach of the inter-firms relationships. The author reads, through these theories, the case of the subcontracting relationships in the clothing industry of Marseille and explains the links between the specific dimensions associated to each type of subcontracting relationship and those associated to each type of strategy. Information has been gathered from twenty-eight interviews with principals or subcontractors in the industry. The thesis is organized in three parts. The first part presents the empirical context in which the research is situated, more precisely it analyses the ambient discourse which sets up the close cooperation between firms as model disregarding in this way, the fact that the relational mode of subcontracting has to be defined according to strategy. The second part consists in explaining the methodology and the conceptual frame used. The third part reveals the findings and the contributions of this research

The objective was to explore an innovating use of the SME's Web site to provoque "in-the-field" and spontaneous information which emergent through constructive interactions between the company and the visitors of its Web site. These interactions are caused by a process (the method Web-MAPIOT) and could help to start innovations. Our research is of exploratory nature, tested by means of "Ingénierique" Research within SME, which is used by us as ground of virtual anchoring. We present the observations collected during a longitudinal evolutionary and continuous intervention. The exploitation of the observations led us to clarify the results and the practical and theoretical results of our research, as well as the ways of future research

Full textThe research presented in this thesis is about the processing of uncertain and fragmented information of business intelligence. This research begins with the following established facts : first there is little knowledge about the processing of uncertain and fragmented information, second managers do not know how to process such information because of the lack of methods and computer tools. This research is in the line of puzzle concept improvement, proposed by our team. According to this concept, creating meaning can be done by bringing uncertain and fragmented information together in order to construct meaningful representation called "puzzle". Our contribution is articulated on three points : (1) a proposed method for processing uncertain and fragmented information in the form of puzzle representations ; (2) the structure of the proposed processing method ; (3) the implementation of the proposed method as a computer tool. This is necessary to generate new knowledge about the processing of uncertain and fragmented information and to identify relevant future research

Full textThis work approaches the development and the installation of a system of competitive intelligence, targeted on the vocational training called Knowledge Base. The strategic survey in real time and the creation of a base of knowledge, starting from the location of the actors of the process of vocational training, by area of activity and by field of knowledge, are the base of the proposal of the system. The use of Internet as tool of support makes it possible to have access to the system of some places that it is, which reduces considerably the costs of installation of a network of information for a Technological Institution. The strategic methodology of the technology watch on line and the development of course for the vocational training are intended for the application of this formation in Brazilian institutions dealing with welding, amongst other things the FBST, institution of non-profit goal. This system of formation will have to also satisfy regional specifications, and will have to also be used as support with the development of course of vocational training as to bring a support to various certifications which will be emitted in the field. At the same time, an opening towards the economy will be taken into account while testing as far as possible to bind technological information to the creation of business opportunities

Full textEffectiveness of Strategic Watch and Intelligence (SWI) is vital for organizations in an international context of instability, complexity and intense competition. The research process of the thesis, includes a phase of theoretical construction, a qualitative phase using case studies, a quantitative phase and a phase of empirical tests. The results of the field studies and the interviewing of surveillance experts allowed for the development of an instrument of measurement in the form of a questionnaire, in conformity with the principle of a quality approach. The tool groups together producers and users of the SWI around the same goal of continuous improvement. It allows us to elaborate a control panel which can be used to pilot surveillance activity and its impact on the performance of the organization. In the final phase of research, the measurement instrument thereby developed was tested with those responsible for SWI and those who use it in two large companies : Framatome ANP and IBM

Full textThis thesis, carried out within the framework of a CIFRE contract with the OctopusMind company, is focused on developing a set of automated tools dedicated and optimized to assist call for tender databases processing, for the purpose of strategic intelligence monitoring. Our contribution is divided into three chapters: The first chapter is about developing a partially comparable multilingual corpus, built from the European calls for tender published by TED (Tenders Electronic Daily). It contains more than 2 million documents translated into 24 languages published over the last 9 years. The second chapter presents a study on the questions of words, sentences and documents embedding, likely to capture semantic features at different scales. We proposed two approaches: the first one is based on a combination between a word embedding (word2vec) and latent semantic analysis (LSA). The second one is based on a novel artificial neural network architecture based on two-level convolutional attention mechanisms. These embedding methods are evaluated on classification and text clustering tasks. The third chapter concerns the extraction of semantic relationships in calls for tenders, in particular, allowing to link buildings to areas, lots to budgets, and so on. The supervised approaches developed in this part of the thesis are essentially based on Conditionnal Random Fields. The end of the third chapter concerns the application aspect, in particular with the implementation of some solutions deployed within OctopusMind's software environment, including information extraction, a recommender system, as well as the combination of these different modules to solve some more complex problems

Full textBecause information is essential to make decisions, launch projects, diversify one's activities and identify new threats, competitive intelligence (CI) is essential for companies who want to anticipate trends and adapt themselves to a new competitive environment becoming more and more complex. Often present in large companies, CI is usually missing in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) due to a lack of means or insufficient technological culture, and sometimes due to an absence of strategy. This thesis illustrates the informational practices of an SME specialised in the development of generic drugs, working in a constantly evolving sector: emergence of biotechnologies, evolution of regulation,. . . The analysis of the innovation process in this company enabled the key elements, that favour the implementation of an effective technology watch in SME, to be identified. These practices are based on : - a strong "patent culture", enabling means to be mobilised for the processing of information and innovations to be created ; - the management of a selective, anticipative and strategic information in a logic of a CI project, useful to select the future developments of generic drugs This analysis leads to the proposal of an organisational pattern ofCI adapted to this SME, based on a specific information cycle and customised with automated information processing tools

Full textThis research examines the conditions under which an environmental scanning coalition of small enterprises in the mechanical industry and reporting 50 employees or less within the rhone-alps region of france, is feasible. As the objective of this research-action is to identify the critical success factors of implementing a collective environmental scanning mechanism involving a number of smes, + procedural requirements ; which should be useful to both future researchers and owner/managers of small firms are presented. The cooperation represents a process of social interaction among a number of owner/managers within the framework of exchanging and sharing anticipatory information. In this context, a collective learning process is created which allows small firms to benefit from the acquired information of the others shareholders and to use this information to improve their flexibility. The depth of analysis characterizes the study as the lack of a conceptual model represents one of the major reasons for using an exploratory research of the field study observations of smes. The results are presented within the conceptual framework of collective learning and an implementation method to guide administrators who share a desire to optimize their environmental scanning capacities through a joint effort with other like minded owner-managers. To the end, we formulated a number of hypotheses regarding a successful environmental scanning coalition of smes, which are based upon both the conceptual model and a longitudinal analysis of empirical findings. The proposal method presented here should not be taken to represent a normative model. The study will be repeated among smes in order to verify the findings. This will be enable us to propose a formal model of the access, processing and utilization of information collected through inter-firm scanning activities, as well as to set out guidelines for the implementation of an environmental scanning coalition of smes

Full textSome companies present a vision of their strategy focused on procedures and generic data. This attitude leads generally not to worry about peripheral information or weak signals which can nevertheless allow the detection of opportunities or threats in their internal and external environments. The peripheral vision presents an innovative interest in the field of the management of the information and the networks to define the strategy of companies. Considering the interconnections between actors of the same territory, can we envisage a model of “Intelligence” which would be applicable, in an operational and territorial frame, to various types of organizations, including not trade organizations? This thesis has for objective to verify the applicability of the peripheral vision in any shape of organization and to model, so, a Located Strategic Intelligence

Full textIn the information era, people's lives are deeply impacted by IT due to the exposure of social networks, emails, RSS feeds, chats, white papers, web pages, etc. Such data are considered very valuable for companies since they will help them in improving their strategies, analyzing their customers' trends or their competitors' marketing interventions is a simple and obvious example. Also, with the advent of the era of Big Data, organizations can obtain information about the dynamic environment of the markets by analyzing consumer's reactions, preferences, opinions and rating on various social media and other networking platforms. Thus, the companies should be equipped with the consciousness of competitive intelligence (CI), and grasp the key points of CI, with setting up an efficient and simple competitive intelligence system adapted to support Big Data. The objective of this thesis is to introduce a new architectural model of Big Data collecting, analyzing and using, named XEW 2.0. This system operates according to four principal steps, where each of which has a dedicated service : (i) XEW sourcing service (XEW-SS), allows searching, collecting, and processing the data from different sources ; (ii) XEW data warehousing services (XEW-DWS) : This brings a unified view of the target corpus and then, creates a data warehouse accessible from the analytics and visualization services ; (iii) XEW Big Data Analytics service (XEW-BDAS) : allows for making multidimensional analyses by adapting data mining algorithms to Big Data ; (iv) XEW Big Data Visualization service (XEW-BDVS) : allows visualizing Big Data in the form of innovative design and graphs representing, for instance, social networks, semantic networks, strategic alliances networks, etc

Full textThe integration of information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into basic training stresses main challenges : to sensitive unskilled adults to new tools of thought and communication which have become unavoidable ; to prepare them to meet social and economic demands and to adapt to technological evolutions; to facilitate the access to basic training and proper grasp of fundamental learning based on oral and written communication, logical- mathematical organisation. The ICT as a communication means and/or learning tool medium adds new life to activity frameworks and teaching methods. Both fields of information and training can now work together because of : the use of on-line informational and pedagogical resources; new skills for managing incoming information in order to develop a more critical mindset to define how to use the resources. Strategic information survey is appropriate for identifying and ensuring the critical themes that determine the schemes' success. .

Full textCompetition is a fundamental concept of the liberal economy tradition that requires companies to resort to Competitive Intelligence (CI) in order to be advantageously positioned on the market, or simply to survive. Nevertheless, it is well known that it is not the strongest of the organizations that survives, nor the most intelligent, but rather, the one most adaptable to change, the dominant factor in society today. Therefore, companies are required to remain constantly on a wakeful state to watch for any change in order to make appropriate solutions in real time. However, for a successful vigil, we should not be satisfied merely to monitor the opportunities, but before all, to anticipate risks. The external risk factors have never been so many: extremely dynamic and unpredictable markets, new entrants, mergers and acquisitions, sharp price reduction, rapid changes in consumption patterns and values, fragility of brands and their reputation. To face all these challenges, our research consists in proposing a Competitive Intelligence System (CIS) designed to provide online services. Through descriptive and statistics exploratory methods of data, Xplor EveryWhere display, in a very short time, new strategic knowledge such as: the profile of the actors, their reputation, their relationships, their sites of action, their mobility, emerging issues and concepts, terminology, promising fields etc. The need for security in XPlor EveryWhere arises out of the strategic nature of information conveyed with quite a substantial value. Such security should not be considered as an additional option that a CIS can provide just in order to be distinguished from one another. Especially as the leak of this information is not the result of inherent weaknesses in corporate computer systems, but above all it is an organizational issue. With Xplor EveryWhere we completed the reporting service, especially the aspect of mobility. Lastly with this system, it's possible to: View updated information as we have access to our strategic database server in real-time, itself fed daily by watchmen. They can enter information at trade shows, customer visits or after meetings
