Abstract:

Cette recherche etudie la construction de << vaulx-en-velin >> comme personnage d'une saga mediatique des banlieues, a travers des images de t. V. Diffusees de 1990 a 1995. Elle montre le travail des medias comme une co-construction dans laquelle interviennent les interrelations des acteurs a l'interieur des medias, entre les medias et a l'exterieur des medias. Le terme de medianome est propose pourdesigner le resultat de ce travail de co-construction pour marquer a la fois son appartenance au monde des medias et sa relative autonomie par rapport au referent qu'il est cense representer. Dans un second temps, la recherche s'interesse a la maniere dont certains acteurs de terrain s'approprient ce medianome, soit en se positionnant comme victime des discriminations dont il est rendu responsable, soit en s'en servant pour justifier des actions de rehabilitation. Trois propositions d'intervention sont formulees pour depasser le sentiment de stigmatisation vecu par les habitants a propos de ce qu'ils designent comme l'image de leur ville. L'approche de ce travail est d'inspiration clinique, elle part des observations directes pour aller aux modeles descriptifs ou explicatifs. Elle est constructiviste, elle s'interesse a la maniere dont les objets d'information sont elabores. Elle vise a penser les phenomenes dans leur complexite. Elle propose une approche de l'information inspiree de l'ecologie dans sa dimension epistemologique, c'est-a-dire definissant des cadres conceptuels qui prennent en compte l'environnement informationnel en meme temps que l'information elle-meme, de meme que les systemes d'echanges a l'interieur d'un systemes informationnel ou entre les systemes informationnels. Elle propose notamment les notions d'ecosystemes mediatique, de niche et le mediatope.

Tesis para optar al Grado de Magister en Comunicación Política
El presente estudio se constituye como un análisis poético político de la obra del poeta chileno Carlos Pezoa Véliz. A través de un recorrido teórico conceptual se realizará una revisión y profundización de las categorías analíticas poesía, política y memoria, determinando la relación consustancial que puede haber entre ellas. A partir de allí, se realizará una vinculación analítica con la obra del autor en estudio, determinando cómo su obra se constituye en un imaginario de resistencia, dotando de existencia al obrero, al campesino, a la hija del capataz y a otros tantos que son invisibilizados por un sistema donde lo político se torna en mero procedimiento y administración de la vida. Es por ello que a través del presente estudio se busca exponer y analizar la relación que habría entre una concepción poética de lo político y la categoría analítica de memoria en la obra de Carlos Pezoa Véliz. A través de un estudio cualitativo e interpretativo, se pondrán en diálogo conceptualizaciones teóricas y unidades de análisis que permitirán ahondar no en la composición lingüística de los poemas del Carlos Pezoa Véliz, sino en su trasfondo político como constructor de una realidad que se devela a través del canto del poeta. Por tanto, en la investigación que se sucede, se podrá identificar cómo la relación entre política, poesía y memoria se entrelazan en cada uno de los versos del autor, así como también, a través de ellos se viene a construir una otra historia de Chile y de la clase obrera, a través de la rememoración que vuelve a sus orígenes, donde lo político, lo poético y la memoria devienen conjunto y comunidad.

Cette thèse s’inscrit dans le débat portant sur la « ghettoïsation » des quartiers populaires français. Pour avancer dans ce débat, il faut prendre en compte l’ensemble des expériences quotidiennes de leurs habitants. Pour ce faire, les expériences urbaines des lycéens de Vaulx-en-Velin, vécues aussi bien dans les espaces publics centraux qu’au sein du microcosme social que constitue le lycée, sont interrogées et mises en regard de leurs représentations sociales. Ces adolescents qui, sans être marginalisés, sont stigmatisés par la sphère médiatique, catégorisent le monde social selon différents processus dichotomiques. L’approche intersectionnelle est mobilisée afin d’analyser l’entremêlement des dimensions spatiales, sociales, ethno-raciales et morales qui sous-tendent leurs représentations. La réflexion s’appuie sur des enquêtes qualitatives effectuées auprès d’adolescents des lycées Robert Doisneau à Vaulx-en-Velin et Juliette-Récamier à Lyon. Les lycéens élargissent progressivement leurs pratiques selon un continuum allant de leur quartier de résidence au centre-ville de Lyon. La recherche de l’autonomie, de l’anonymat et de diversité sociale guide la découverte (souvent accompagné de pairs) des différents espaces urbains fréquentés. Plus particulièrement, le centre-ville de Lyon, caractérisé par un régime de sociabilité public permet aux adolescents de Vaulx-en-Velin de faire l’expérience de l’indifférence. L’expérience de la norme d’égalité propre à ce type d’espaces publics reste cependant soumise à l’adoption d’un certain nombre de codes sociaux de la société dominante
This thesis positions itself within the debate on the "ghettoization" of French working-class neighbourhoods. To move forward in this debate, it is necessary to take into account all the daily urban experiences of their inhabitants. With this in mind, urban experiences of Vaulx-en-Velin high school students, both in the central public spaces and in the social microcosm that constitutes the high school, are questioned and put in comparison with their social representations. These adolescents who, without being marginalized, are stigmatized by the media sphere, categorize the social world according to different dichotomous processes. An intersectional approach is mobilized to analyze the intertwining of spatial, social, ethno-racial and moral dimensions that underlie their representations. The fieldwork is based on qualitative surveys conducted among adolescents in two high schools: Robert Doisneau in Vaulx-en-Velin and Juliette-Récamier in Lyon. High school students are expanding progressively their practices along a continuum ranging from their home neighbourhood to Lyon downtown. The search for autonomy, anonymity and social diversity guides their discovery (often accompanied by peers) of different urban spaces. More specifically, Lyon's city centre, where interactions are ruled by a kind of detached politeness, allows teenagers to experience indifference. However, beyond this, the feeling of being equal to others remains subject to the adoption of the social codes of the dominant society

Abstract:

The paper directs to introduce the turkish literary tradition to an fairly unknown european audience, as well as to present a turkish poet called Orhan Veli. Since there is hardly any literature written within this subject in either swedish or english I have come to the conclusion that the europeans have not yet been subjected to a discussion of this nature. For this reason my main task has been to gather and compose all that has already been written within this matter. I have chosen not to dig deep into such an unexploared subject, but rather offer different types of entries with which further research can be pursued and built upon.

The early literature in Turkey consisted mostly of imitations of the well established arabic- and persian traditions. Because of that the turkisk modernism came, in comparison to the rest of Europe, relatively late. The quest for their own and original style first came with the modernists. For this reason I’ve chosen to stress turkish modernism and since Orhan Veli is given credit for it, his poetry. The modernistic breakthrough is explained through the poetic diction of Orhan Veli and the remaning members of a literary group called Garip. The reading of Velis poetry will be historically contextualized. Not only will his poetry be read in the light of his native literature history but also in comparison to other poets of his time.

Lietuvoje viena iš probleminių paveldėjimo teisės sričių yra įpėdinių atsakomybė už palikėjo skolas. Šiam teisiniam institutui vis dar skiriama nepakankamai dėmesio. Trūksta literatūros, kuri būtų prieinama bet kuriam visuomenės nariui, susidūrusiam su paveldėjimo neigiamomis pasekmėmis ar siekiančiam jų išvengti. Daugelis vis dar linkę manyti, jog priimant palikimą, prisiimamas tik jį sudarantis aktyvas. Tačiau situacija yra kitokia – tenka įvykdyti ir palikėjo turėtus skolinius įsipareigojimus, kadangi Lietuvoje, kaip ir kitose šiame darbe nagrinėtose kontinentinės teisės tradicijos valstybėse, pripažįstama neribota įpėdinių atsakomybė, kuri tam tikrais būdais gali būti apribojama tikrąja palikimo verte. Žmonės mažai yra girdėję ir apie galimybę apriboti savo atsakomybę už velionio skolas sudarant palikimo apyrašą. Tai kelia nerimą, nes tokia teisinė priemonė mūsų Civiliniame kodekse buvo įtvirtinta dar 2001 metais. Praėjo aštuoneri metai, o išsamių teisinių darbų šia tema nėra. Šis palikimo priėmimo būdas vis dar stokoja teisės mokslininkų ir praktikų dėmesio. Taip pat nėra jokių teisės aktų, detalizuojančių palikimo apyrašo turinį, nurodančių, kur suinteresuoti asmenys gali susipažinti su jau parengtu tokiu dokumentu ir pan. Įstatymų leidėjui reikėtų imtis veiksmų ne tik šioje srityje. Turėtų būti daugiau dėmesio skiriama ir palikimo priėmimui pradėjus faktiškai valdyti palikimą sudarantį turtą. Heir’s responsibility for debts of the succession is in Lithuania one of the most problematical sphere of the inheritance law. It takes still not enough notice of this law’s institute. It lacks literature, which is approachable for any member of the society, who comes across negative effects of inheritance or who wants escape them. Many people think, that when they accept a succession, they accept just assets. But situation is different – they are obliged to pay the debts of the succession too, because Lithuania like and other in this work analyzed continental law countries, recognizes unlimited heir’s responsibility, which can be limit to the extent of the value of the property of the succession. The people know little about the possibility to limit their responsibility for the devisor’s debts when they make an inventory. It’s not good, because a law’s measure like this was brought in our Civil Code in 2001. It passed eight jears, but today we still don’t have exhaustive works on this theme. This method of the succession acceptance still lacks of consideration of the law scientists and practitioners. We don’t have laws, which detail content of the inventory and explain where the inventory may be consulted by persons concerned too. The legislator must do something not just in this law’s sphere. La thèse porte sur l’étude de vingt mobiliers funéraire provenant des nécropoles oenôtres de Palinuro et Rivello, datées du dernier quart du VIe siècle. Le deux sites se placent dans le Golfe de Policastro, un territoire qui connaît un peuplement tardif et particulier. La position stratégique des sites oenôtres développe un riche réseau d’échanges avec les Grecs.Toutefois, Après la chute de Sybaris on assiste à une rapide décline des ces communautés, et on enregistre un vide documentaire jusqu’à la fin du Ve siècle. Le but de la recherche a été de donner une réponse aux rapports entre Grecs et Indigènes ainsi que à ce vide documentaire. A côte de l’analyse des mobiliers funéraires, la recherche s’est enrichie d’une étude topographique du Golfe et de la cité d’Elée, ainsi que de l’analyse des sources historiques, notamment la tradition autour Palinure. Cette triple approche a donné un cadre exhaustif de la région entre la fin de l’archaïsme et le début du Ve siècle. L’analyse des mobiliers a souligné, d’abord, l’adoption du coutume du banquet par les communauté de Palinuro et Rivello ainsi qu’un rôle important dans le réseau d’échanges avec les Grecs. L’analyse des mobiliers de Palinuro, en outre, a permis de baisser la chronologie de l’établissement au 480-460 av. J-C. Les sites du Golfe jouent un rôle de médiation du dit « empire » sybarite et ils bénéficient d’une certain autonomie, comme démontré par les émissions monétaires et les épigraphe en langue oenôtre. My Phd’s research concerns the study of twenty burial goods dated of Archaic period and located in Palinuro and Rivello, in Southern Italy. These two sites are placed in the Gulf of Policastro, an area populated during the last Greek colonization. The strategic position of the Oinotrians sites developed a rich commercial network with the Greek cities. However, after the Sybaris’ fall, the Oenotrians communities begin to disappear and the archaeological quests reveal no data until the end of he Vth century. The aim of the research was to give an answer to the rapports between Greeks and Indigenous, as well as to the lack of data that characterizes the most part of Vth century. In addition to the burial goods analysis, the research extended on a topographical study of the Gulf and of the city of Elea as well as the study of the historical sources, especially about Palinuro’s tradition. The triple approach gave a complete context of the region between the end of archaic period and the beginning of Vth century. First of all, the grave goods are indicators of a society influenced by the Greek banquet customs. Moreover, the study about the Palinuro’s burial goods allowed lowering chronology around 480-460 b.C. This datum reduced the lack of finds between the Sybaris’ fall and the beginning of the so-called “lucanisation”. The Gulf sites play a mediator role of the Sybaris’ empire and they benefit from a certain autonomy, as revealed by the presence of Achaean-eight coins links and epigraphs in oinotrian language. The research reveals the Gulf of Policastro as a vivid region with a certain autonomy, who continues its life even after the fall of Sybaris

Abstract:

This ethnographic study is on a sacred patrilineage, on the Ulusoy family members who are widely accepted by the Alevi Bektasi communities as the descendants of the eponymous founder of the Bektasi Order, Haci Bektas Veli. In line with the Shi&rsquo
ite tradition, it is claimed that Haci Bektas Veli inherited the batin, the esoteric aspect of the knowledge and the type of spirituality of this knowledge - walaya, by genealogical chain traced back to Ahl-al Bayt, and therefore undertook an initiating and supervisory role over his adherents. As the progeny of Haci Bektas Veli, the Ç
elebis, namely the Ulusoy family, have also become the heirs of his sacred authority which was also inherited by their descendant through blood and transmigration. The Ulusoys have undertaken the role of spiritual guides and leaders of some other sacred dede (sacred guide) lineages called ocaks, as well as of the disciples of those ocaks, to regulate and supervise their life in accordance with the batin, divine knowledge. Thus, the purpose of this dissertation is to explore the maintenance and reproduction of the hereditary sanctity of the Ulusoy family during the Republican period during which, due to the secularization and modernization attempts of the Republic, the sanctity and sacred authority of the family has not been recognized as a social distinct category. To this end, I firstly examine the historical background of the family by situating the family in the Ottoman period. Having found out the continuities and ruptures in exercising of the sacred authority of the family over the disciples after the establishment of the Republic, I focus on the transformation of the sanctity and new forms of it by employing the concepts of space/place
kinship and, gender.

À partir d'une étude de presse (1990-1998), ce travail met en exergue l'existence d'un complexe idéologique opératoire dont le principe d'intégration individuelle constitue la clef de voûte dans l'espace public français. Nous verrons en particulier dans quelle mesure le contexte de défense des minorités favorise des modalités d'expression plus suggestives qu'injonctives, notamment à travers la promotion de modèles sociaux : personnalités élues stars d'un jour ou champions de la décennie. Cependant d'autres stréréotypes se font jour - négatifs ou problématiques - associés aux populations maghrébines et aux banlieues, révélant un discours à double fond. Portant sur quatre titres de presse (L'Humanité, Libération, France-Soir, Le Figaro), cette étude s'étend des « émeutes » de Vaulx-en-Vélin à la coupe du monde de football. Taken from a journalistic study (1990-1998), this work presents an ideological complex operating in the French public area. This complex wich integrates a personal principle is obviously the backbone. We shall consider in particular to what extent the minorities self-defence context favours means of self-expression that suggest more than they give orders, notably through the promoting of social models such as personalities who become "stars of the day" or "champion of the decade". But other stereotypes appear - negative or problematic ones - linked with North-African and suburban population, revealing an ambiguous speech. The analysis of the contents covers a corpus selected among four newspaper (L'Humanité, Libération, France-Soir, Le Figaro), and nine years publication, from the "riots" to the "Black, Blanc, Beur" victory when took place the Football World Cup. Namely a determination of natural conditions in the area, identification of possible features of the water pools, the suitability of location, size, eventually necessary by proposals planting vegetation in the vicinity of the existing water pools and adjacent watercourse. The main objective of this diploma thesis is to propose the most appropriate technical solution of the whole system pools. All results and conclusions comes from field surveys, laboratory analysis and data acquired primarily in 2015/ 2016, whereby we have current information about the area.

Abstract:

Studying the early modern landscape during the baroque period was often linked to some kind of idealization of the relationship between the pre-modern man and the landscape they lived in. On the example of the 17 Saxe-Lauenburg manor districts I pointed out that the approach to the landscape used to be more functional and pragmatic than the existing literature assumed. The aristocratic representation and power legitimization was historically emphasised by building the landscape after the Thirty Years' War as well the dominancy of Catholicism. Comparing activities of the Saxe-Lauenburgs with the Schlick family and their exceptional composed landscape around Kopidlno, Staré Hrady and Veliš some common and particular trends in the making of landscape became apparent.

Abstract:

A life cycle of many known algae is influenced by the circadian clock. It seems probable that also Chromera velia, the closest known photosynthetic relative to Apicomplexa, uses circadian oscillator. We tested, if fluctuating of zoospore?s abundance is driven by the circadian clock. This rhythm is stable even in the constant light condition. Furthermore, three cryptochrome genes, involved in circadian rhythms, were sequenced and consequently phylogenetically investigated. Two of them were classified as CRY-DASH, the third is CRY-DASH-like. The rhythmicity of CRY-DASH expression in C. velia was also investigated. The level of expression was also tested under constant light and dark condition. It was suggested that expression of these genes is associated with the circadian oscillator. This is the first study of the circadian clock in C. velia.

Abstract:

Since its description in 2008, Chromera velia has drawn profound interest as the closest free--living photosynthetic relative of apicomplexan parasites that are significant pathogens, causing enormous health and economic problems. There-- fore, this newly described species holds a great potential to understand evolu-- tionary basis of how photosynthetic algae evolved into the fully pathogenic Apicomplexa and how their common ancestors may have lived before they evolved into obligate parasites. Hence, the aim of this work is to understand how C. velia function and respond to different environmental conditions. This study aims to reveal how C. velia is able to respond to environmental perturbations that are applied individually and simultaneously since, studying stress factors in separation fails to elucidate complex responses to multi stress factors and un-- derstanding the systemic regulation of involved genes. To extract biologically significant information and to identify genes involved in various physiological processes under variety of environmental conditions (i.e. a combination of vary-- ing temperatures, iron availability, and salinity in the growth medium) we pre-- pared strand specific RNA--seq libraries for 83 samples in diverse environmental conditions. Here, we report the set of significantly differentially expressed genes as a re-- sponse to the each condition and their combinations. Several interesting up-- regulated and down--regulated genes were found and their functions and in-- volved pathways were studied. We showed that the profound regulation of HSP20 proteins is significant under stress conditions and hypothesized that the-- se proteins might be involved in their movements.

Abstract:

Velim is one of the most important sites of the Bronze Age of Central Europe. The longterm investigations of the fortified site produced a large pottery assemblage which can serve as a basis for the study of the transition between the end of the Middle Bronze Age and the beginning of the Late Bronze Age in Central Bohemia. The aim of this study was to define the structure of Velim pottery assemblages recovered during the czech and british investigations of the site and to provide information on the metods used for its assesment and analysis. The basic statistical approaches applied to the analysis produced partial results which can, together with the analysis of further types of material and excavation context, contribute to the interpretation of the charakteristics and chronological position of the site. General results can be summarized as follows: definition of the structure of the pottery assemblage, recognition of trends in some charakteristics from individual find complexis, proposed chronological sequence of features, identification of the spatial variation across the site, and of shifts of functional areas, cultural clasification, analysis of the regional conditions. Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to the spermatogenesis of long living water bug species ?water cricket (Velia caprai). Spermatogenesis of nymphs of the fifth instaru, adults of defined age (from 1 up to 60 days after the ecdysis) and also the adults caught in the field of unknown age before - and after the hibernation were studied by histological methods. It was discovered that spermatogenesis of this species is in progress continuously. Even the nymphs of the 5th instar already had spermatids presented and the adult males disposed of spermatozoans just one day after the ecdysis. The presence of all the spermatogenesis cell types (spermatogonia, primary and secondary spermatocytes, spermatids and sperms) was confirmed in the case of male adults of various age ? younger after ecdysis as well as older including males after hibernation. Semiaquatic bug Velia caprai has not typical testes in comparison with most of Insects. They are formed by just one testicular follicle which is wider than longer. The follicle´s top is not distinctly formed; the germanium is located in the middle of the follicle´s wider part which is across from the testicle´s orifice to vas deferens. This anomalous position of germarium represents the original apex of testicular follicle in this species.

Abstract:

This thesis presents results of the histological study of oogenesis in the nymphs of 5th instar, variously aged adult females of known age and adult females of Velia caprai ((Heteroptera: Gerromorpha: Veliidae) of unknown age that were collected in the field. Oogonia in the germarium and the first oocytes that are forming in previtellarium were observed in the nymphs of the 5th instar. Their vitellarium is empty. The first vitellogenetic oocytes appear in vitellarium of ovarioles at 7 days old adult females. Oocytes in advanced stage of vitellogenesis were observed at 25 days old adult females. The secretion of chorion starts at 42 days old adult females. Advanced stage of oogenesis (fully chorionated eggs) was found at 60 days old adult females, at adult females collected in the field, during the period September ? November (2009), and at adult females after overwintering. Females of Velia caprai reach sexual maturity before overwintering, their eggs can be fertilized by spermatozoa from own spermatheca. These females can lay eggs from autumn to the spring. After reaching sexual maturity of adult females, oogenesis of this species seems to be continual.

Abstract:

Recently, the cold resistance becomes a common topic in scientific articles. If we focus on order Heteroptera, we can find a lot of studies dealing with the cold resistance or with the supercooling point (SCP) and also with the factors that influence them. According to the general rule, the acclimation at low temperatures increases the cold resistance. Therefore, the main goal of this thesis is to find out, whether the acclimation also increases the cold resistance of the water cricket Velia caprai Tamanini, 1947 (Veliidae), with the intention to measure SCP of the water crickets depending on the acclimation temperature and the length of exposure. Due to the high mortality (the 284 individuals remained alive of total 1300) and due to the technical difficulties in measuring of SCP (measured only 36 individuals) it was necessary to modify the original goal of the thesis. The new goal was to test the influence of acclimation (during one month vs. one week) and the influence of different temperatures (0°C, 5°C, 10°C) on SCP of V. caprai. The individuals used for this measurement were collected during the year 2010 and in March 2011. The results of this thesis did not confirm the hypothesis that the acclimation at low temperatures increases the cold resistance. The individuals who were acclimated at a higher temperature have the values of SCP demonstrably lower than the individuals who were acclimated at low temperatures. The individuals who overwinter for the first time have arguably higher cold resistance than the individuals who overwinter for the second time. Probable cause of these results is the fact that the water cricket V. caprai does not start with diapause in the fall but it overwinters in quiescence.

This thesis is focused on the chromosome-number studies in alveolate alga C. velia. This Apicomplexa-related photosynthetic organism proved to be a unique instrument for the study of Apicomplexa and their unique organelle apicoplast. To better understand the similarities and differences within these two phyla, a further chromosome analysis was needed. The first part of this thesis sums up the present knowledge about ploidy, life cycle and genome organization within C. velia and the close-relative phyla of Apicomplexa and Dinoflagellata. The second part describes our attempt to examine the ploidy and total number of chromosomes in C. velia using fluorescence in situ hybridization. The ploidy of C. velia was successfully determined and we also made a significant progress in the determination of the total chromosome number. (max. 4000 znaků)

Photosynthetic organism Chromera velia was discovered recently. Thanks to the fact that it is harmless algae but close relative to apicomplexan parasites it could be used as a helpful-tool for basic research. Apicoplast serves as a target of some antimalarial agents, so my first task was to isolate pure fraction of plastid organelle. And next to apply antibiotic rifampicin at the same doses that are working in Plasmodium falciparum to see whether it would be possible to use C. velia as a model organism in first screening of new antimarial drugs.

Nonphotochemical quenching is an important protective mechanism of photosynthetic proteins against excessive irradiation. In this work, isolation of native light harvesting antennae from alga Chromera velia was optimized using methods of sucrose density centrifugation, isoelectric focusing, ion exchange chromatography and gel electrophoresis. Moreover, the ability of light harvesting antennae to trigger nonphotochemical quenching was studied in vivo and in vitro.

The purpose of this work is to understand and elucidate the correlation between immigration and globalization by examining cultural dimensions of globalism. As the world gets “smaller” and affected by globalism more and more each day it is important to see the bound of it with our daily lives and refugee crisis. In this dissertation I will examine globalism phenomenon and its relationship with refugee issue meanwhile human dimension of refugees will be the point to be headed. In this context globalism with economical dimensions will be explained, later the cultural dimension will be mentioned with referred to contemporary social-cultural anthropologist Arjun Appadurai’s perspective. While globalism makes people and cultures get close more to each other in a kind of strange way with recent political developments and refugee crisis people tend to forget the uniqueness of humanity and lead towards to more racist policies. Thus, this research includes some papers and books on the related topics of globalization, as much as source to support with philosophical thinking and approach the issue in a human level. In this regard, the humanism understanding of Hajı Bektashi Veli who is as humanist philosopher from Anatolia of 13th century will be referred in the work as supportive perspective. The aim is to visualize the integrity of the cultural dimension of globalization by reconciling it with the human dimension of immigrants. Globalism cannot be considered separated from economical changes in the world. Concordantly, it will be mention the economic dimension of globalism in dissertation, focusing on capitalism and “world system” as an economic theory. After all it will be revealed the relation between cultural impacts of global developments with forced immigrants and refugees. The project is formed in its basis as a documentary film, because, film/video is a powerful visual medium to raise a wide range of repercussions in social and humanitarian contexts, allowing opportunity of expression for filmmaker to make an impact specially in contemporary culture. Documentary as a visual material creates a language to evoke emotions, transmit the sense by letting the audience to be part of moment and feelings. According to American educator, theorist Edgar Dale people remember 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see but 50% percent of what they “see and hear”. (Dale’s Cone of Experience). Documentary film as a medium lets viewer establish more profound bound and deeper engagement with subject. It creates an impact that, writing language cannot do with letters. The viewer looks at the subject's gaze. The audience who has the voice of the subject has the chance to experience the physically inaccessible environment. Furthermore, it can be effective call-to-action and make profound changes in global world. Motivated by the increasing need to provide support to refugee crisis, I sought to work out this dissertation and documentary in order to allow people to see the behind doors of each one and be a part of their struggles. Abstract:

The study commenced by identifying a theological problem relating to the lack of understanding regarding grass-roots African Pentecostal healing praxis. The empirical-theological approach of Van der Ven was utilised, therefore, to study the healing praxis of an African Pentecostal body, called: The Group‘ Assemblies of God, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Van der Ven‘s original framework was developed by drawing on the hermeneutic and methodological work of Cartledge. A case study was undertaken on a Group‘ Assembly in rural KwaZulu-Natal. The use of social scientific techniques produced a wide range of results that point to the church‘s ministry of healing as a process, rooted in the Trinity, that can occur through varied channels. These pathways ended in a broad understanding of healing. A dialogue between the qualitative results and the healing literature was used to develop a more precise theological question. Case study categories were conceptualised and then operationalised as a questionnaire. A survey was performed on all Assemblies affiliated to The Group‘ Assemblies of God in KwaZulu-Natal. A significant number of people participated in the survey which produced a wide range of data. It is found that worldview and charismatic experience form an important hermeneutic axis that influences attitudes towards the healing ministry. Conservative biblical belief, ethnicity, education and gender influence attitudes towards healing. A distinct divide exists between positive attitudes towards physical, spiritual, inner healing and deliverance and more negative attitudes towards social and environmental healing. The reflection on these results focuses on the perceived influence of American dispensational fundamentalism. The eschatology formed from these beliefs has a narrowing effect on holistic healing ministry. Moltmann‘s transformational eschatology is suggested, therefore, as a suitable alternative. The methodological evaluation finds that several problems exist with regard to research in a rural African location. The cycle concludes by offering a range of suggestions for further study.
