Full textThis thesis means to study the 18th century verse tale, a rich and diverse work which has never been the subject of an overall analysis. A real fashion phenomenon, just like the fairy tale that preceded it, the verse tale was practiced by well-known authors (Voltaire) as well as second rate writers such as Grécourt, the most prolific. The narrative put into verse was a minor genre with no code which was disparaged by the supporters of literary orthodoxy. It falls within the province of transient poetry and comes straight from the art of conversation, which was so highly prized at the time that it imposed themes on writers and shaped the poetics of the texts. Between refined entertainment and fully-fledged literary genre, the verse tale, which underlines the crisis poetry was going through at the Age of the Enlightenment, embodies the search for a new poetic way marked by humility, lightness and simplicity and objecting to solemnity and the sublime. Our work, which is limited to printed texts, adopts three different angles: successively, the sociological, historical and generic angles. Tales, which are society poems and collective and serial works, are an indication of the taste for mockery and banter characteristic of this time. As for the diachronic approach, it aims at throwing light on the peaks of the vogue for tales from 1715 to the Revolution but also at bringing out a transhistoric continuity by establishing the origins as well as the posterity of the genre. Tales are also viewed in connection with the other genres it delights in imitating and twisting. They are libertine because of their philosophy but above all because of their allusive and subversive writing

Full textElaboration of multifunctional composites is a subject currently booming in materials science. The aim is to combine the respective physical or chemical properties of two or more materials. Our purpose is to get multifunctional fillers with mechanical (reinforcement, lubricant, thermal insulation) and conductive properties. Because it combines these mechanical and lubricant properties, natural talc is currently used as filler, coating or dusting agent in paints, lubricants, plastics, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and ceramics. However, its hydrophobic and inert nature is a limitation for certain uses which involved chemical reactions. That is why it is important to improve its surface properties. An alternative is to obtain by hydrothermal synthesis, a range of talc-like phyllosilicates with well-defined chemical composition, high purity, submicronic size and which contain a larger amount of hydrophilic sites. Natural talcs and talc-like phyllosilicates are modified with a conductive polymer, the polypyrrole and with carbon nanotubes to obtain conductive properties. The introduction of these conductive fillers in a low-density polyethylene matrix by extrusion has allowed us to demonstrate that the mechanical properties of the matrix are maintained and its conductive properties are quite improved. These composites may be used as sensors or antistatic parts

Full textThis thesis takes part of the general process of innovation in the domain of composite materials. The funding by the ANR NANOTALC project allowed significant progress in the process of production of new talc-like mineral nanofillers. The talc synthesis process has been revised in order to achieve compatibility with industrial requirements in terms of performance and efficiency. This new process replaces the previous ones since it saves time, leads to a 100% talc product having a high crystallinity, in the respect of few principles of the green chemistry. The crystal-chemistry characterization of the new synthetic talc shows new spectral signatures related to nanoscale dimensions, which allow also understanding of some until now unexplained behavior of natural powders. The synthetic talc derived from this new process differs from its natural counterpart in its submicron size, its chemical and mineral purity and also in its hydrophilic character, which is enhanced by the abundance of particle edges bearing silanol functions. This thesis also describes the various techniques tested to optimize this process and provides a new technical solution for the implementation of the synthesis on a semi-industrial scale

Full textAFDX is the standard switched Ethernet solution for transmitting avionic flows. Today’s AFDX deployments in commercial aircrafts are lightly loaded to ensure the determinism of control and command operations. This thesis aims at investigating a practical alternative envisioned by manufacturers that takes advantage of the remaining AFDX bandwidth to transfer additional nonavionic flows (video, audio, service). These flows must not compromise the in-time arrival of avionic ones. Thus, appropriate scheduling policies formultiplexing avionic flows with non-avionic flows are required at the emitting end systems and switch egress ports. We mainly focus on the transmission of additional flows carrying video streams from cameras located on the airplane to cockpit display. Multiplexing avionic flows with video flows is tackled by introducing table scheduling at the emitting end systems and a 2-priority levels SPQ service policy at switch egress ports. This solution preserves the real-time constraints of avionic flows but may introduce variations of the end-to-end delay of video ones. An appropriate allocation of slots to avionic flows in table scheduling can reduce the emission lag of video flows and thus, limit their delay variations. We propose two strategies to allocate avionic flows in the table scheduling: a simple one based on heuristics and an optimal one. Optimal schedules are derived by solving a constraint programming model minimizing the emission lag of video flows. For light traffic end systems, heuristic allocation is close to optimal

Full textArthurian romance develops during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, in verse and prose, and still has an important success in the late Middle Ages. Despite an Arthurian fashion taking place in some courts, the Arthurian romance has to be renewed and authors are caught between two requirements. As the consistency of Arthurian romances partly remains in theproper names they share (place names and anthroponyms), authors have to both maintain famous and recognizable proper names, and renew characters and places by introducing new ones. We will study the modalities and the stakes in the proper names used in late Arthurian romances. After making an assessment of the onomastics studies, and highlighting the link between anthropological stakes, documented practices and literary tradition, we will establish a typology of the proper names in the corpus which will be based not only on the editions, but will also consider the actual variants in manuscripts. We will also analyze names for their historical dimension and for their power over the reader’s imagination, and examine the role they play in the plot’s structure. The typology, the semantic and poetic analysis, and the study of the associations with historic onomastics will lead us to situate late novels in the Middle Ages literature and identify the specificity of proper names in the selected corpus

Full textAcute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a malignant proliferation of progenitors blocked during myeloid differentiation. The karyotype of the leukemic blasts identified three distinct prognostic groups. Among the favourable risk cytogenetics AML include acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL), and those with inv (16) or t (8; 21). Micro-RNAs are key players in hematopoiesis and are also involved in leukemogenesis of AML. They are very stable in serum and used as biomarkers in cancers. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate whether a genome-wide characterization of serum micro-RNAs possible to distinguish these three types of AML them as well as AML with normal karyotype (NK-AML); identify micro-RNAs circulating highly overexpressed in NK-AML compared to healthy subjects, for later use as markers of residual disease; and to better define the prognosis of NK-AML. Thus, we have identified a specific serum signing of LAP related to a deregulation of micro-RNAs located in the DLK1-DIO3 under the imprinting, in 14q32. These micro-RNAs whose origin was the leukemic blasts were correlated with known prognosis factors of APL. In addition, two micro-RNAs, miR-10a-3p and miR-196b-5p, distinguishing the NK-AML with inv (16)-AML or t (8; 21)-AML have been shown overexpressed in NK-AML with mutation NPM1 and / or FLT3-ITD. Finally the expression of these two micro-RNAs correlates withtranscriptional deregulation and DNA methylation affectingTALE and HOX genes. In conclusion, this study of serum microRNAs opens a new field of exploration to assess the prognosis in AML

Full textThe production of the narratives is closely linked to historical and cultural context in which it operates. When we reflect on the history of the former Portuguese colonies in Africa, organized in tribal societies, we realize the importance of the traditional tale. Only very recently was constitute the term African children's literature, therefore, we analyzed the child’s tales of Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique, and from these, we investigated the understanding of the story as a social function in the countries that looking for to emancipation forms. In the African narrative often dominates the appreciation of traditional culture, the strong presence of the imaginary ancestor and especially the animism of African cultures. These features of Africa contrast in global both in terms of socio-cultural contexts as the incompatibility between the canonical literary form and content derived from these cultures. Thus, in Africa, was institute a new term for conceptualize the literature that has been done on the continent and it might be better suited to the reality of those countries - animist realism. This dissertation is intended to allow the advance in the reflections on the animist realism - a term used by Pepetela (1989) and Garuba (2003), and on its applicability in called children's stories of Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde. Full textA name is, just like its use, revelatory in all respects. This study proposes to highlight the importance and especially the significance of Dames in some Old French verse and prose romances in langue d'oi͏̈l from the 12th and 13th centuries and particularly in this case from the Arthurian literature. Chrétien's poems (Erec et Enide, Cligès, Yvain ou le Chevalier au Lion, Le Chevalier de la Charrette and Le Conte du Graal (Perceval)), the Lais by Marie de France, the Folies Tristan of Berne and of Oxford, the Bel Inconnu by Renaut de Beaujeu, the Atre périlleux, the Continuations of Le Conte du Graal, Le Roman de l'Estoire dou Graal by Robert de Boron and his prose version, the three principal parts of the Lancelot-Grail cycle and the Perlesvaus are the subject of this analysis concerning the use of a name and its different aspects such as anonymity, name changing, renaming, the loss of a name, the late revelation of a name or his discovery, the absence of a name and the quest for a name (and sometimes even his conquest). A name, which is irrevocably linked to identity, is an excellent tool of knowledge. It holds and at the same time explains a lot of information and this is what is being presented in this study. The three names "Biel Fils", Bel Innconnu and Guinglain for example are not in fact owing to fate but they mark the evolutionary stages of a character

Full textThe new critical edition of the first 14,743 verses of Jean Froissart’s Melyador relies upon the unique almost complete manuscript Paris, BnF, fr. 12557. Redrafted around 1381 with the collaboration of its patron, Wenceslas de Luxembourg, duke of Brabant, who inserted eleven ballades, sixteen virelays and fifty-two rondeaux, this latter Arthurian romance counting more than 30,770 octosyllables recounts the advent of four love stories, that, while punctuated with jousts and tournaments to which gives rise the organization of a quest, inspire various lyrical songs. Tinged with Picard and Walloon features, it offers an idea of the linguistic resources and maturity of its author, the work of which is in line with the linguistic renewal movement and literary thinking of the fourteenth century. Appropriating multiple literary genres in a masterly way by means of renewal or comic diversion, Froissart gives us to read a complex work, merrily aware of its power, but also of its fictional status. The introduction presents the author and the manuscript and editing traditions, discusses the versions and their dating, studies the language and proposes an analysis and a literary comment. The edition comprises endnotes, comprehensive glossary and index, as well as a thorough bibliography. It sets out to deliver an established text following the modern principles of editing and respectful toward the remarkable features of the manuscript that conveys it to us

Full textAt the same time, La Fontaine’s Contes provoke antagonistic reactions, from rejection to emulation - which is a singularity in the poet’s work. La Fontaine doesn’t hide that he takes liberties with moral standards and versification’s rules, but his licences don’t fall within the transgression : they are derogations granted by aristocratic readers.Firstly, we determine the place of the licence in the normative set of classical esthetic. As a tolerated deviation, the licence isn’t limited to poetry : it potentially applies to any norm of classical esthetic, according to the criteria used to judge the text. Our study analyzes the part occupied by the licence in the state of mind of aristocratic readers of Contes. Also examining other tale’s writers contemporaries of La Fontaine who consider him a model, this study shows how the text built its legitimacy by diverting forms of writing or thinking that are usual to the aristocratic public. La Fontaine seeks to establish connivance with the reader. He appropriates genres appreciated by the aristocratic public and invents a scenography making the reader an accomplice of immoral text. La Fontaine diverts also the lifestyle of its readers : leisure. He gives an erotic version of otium. Within this analysis, we will discover what is the contribution of Contes in La Fontaine’s anthropology

Full textThe research department of Thales Alenia Space is studying new concepts of space telescopes whose secondary mirror is deployed thanks to the unreeling of six tape-springs. A breadboard using metallic tape-springs has been built during preliminary studies and has exhibited a deployment that is too energetic and induce too important shocks. In this thesis a new kind of tape-spring with a controlled uncoiling speed is introduced. Secondly a rod model with highly deformable thin-walled cross-sections describing the dynamic behaviour of tape-springs is derived. In order to over come the deployment speed of a tape spring, a viscoelastic layer is stuck on its sides. Thanks to its properties varying with the temperature, the viscoelastic layer is used to maintain the tape-spring in a coiled configuration at low temperature whereas a local heating leads to a controlled uncoiling. These phenomenons have been underlined experimentally and numerically.Because of the high complexity of classical shell models and the lack of details of simplified models, smart modelling methods need to be developed to describe the highly non linear behaviour of a tape-spring. A planar rod model with highly deformable thin-walled cross-sections that accounts for large displacements and large rotations in dynamics is proposed. Starting from a classical shellmodel, the main additional assumption consists in introducing an elastica kinematics to describe thelarge changes of the cross-section shape with very few parameters. The expressions of the strain andkinetic energies are derived by performing an analytical integration over the section. The Hamilton principle is directly introduced in a suitable finite element software to solve the problem. Several examples (folding, coiling and deployment of a tape spring) are studied through the FEM software COMSOL to demonstrate the ability of the 4-parameter model to account for several phenomena: creation of a single fold and associated snap-through behaviour, splitting of a fold into two, motion of a fold along the tape during a dynamic deployment, scenarios of coiling and uncoiling of a bistable tape-spring

Full textDimensions of spatial satellites tend to grow bigger and bigger, whereas the volume in launchers remains very limited. Deployable structures must be used to meet this contradiction. To expand the offer of possible solutions, the Research Department of Thales Alenia Space is currently studying tape springs as an innovative deployment solution. The first structure to be considered is a telescope that is deployed by the uncoiling of six tape springs that also ensure the positioning of the secondary mirror. Other deployable structures that use the properties of tape springs are under investigation : mast, solar panels,...Specific modeling tools then appear compulsory to model deployment scenarios and multiply the tested configurations. Two previous PhD thesis lead to the development of energetic rod models with flexible cross-sections that account for planar ([Guinot2011])and three dimensional behavior of tape springs ([Picault2014]). This PhD thesis presents several contributions on these rod models with flexible cross-sections. The hypotheses of the model were improved. Re-positioning the reference rod line so that it passes through the sections' centroids leads to results that are closer to experimental scenarios (creation and disappearance of folds in the spring). The hypotheses and equations of the model are now definitively formalized. We have derived the 1D local equations in the three-dimensional behavior case in the most generalist way. Then, the derivation of the equations in simplified cases (restriction to 2D behavior, shallow cross-section) enabled us to obtain several analytic solutions and the equations to implement in the specific modeling tool.We have developed on the continuation software ManLab the first elements towards a home made, efficient modeling tool dedicated to the modeling of tape springs. Two main contributions can be listed :- A generalist tool, efficient in calculus times, to study 1D differential problems (BVP, Boundary Value Problems). The local equations of the rod models with flexible cross sections were implemented in this tool, with a discretization based on polynomial interpolation and orthogonal collocation.- A specific finite element for rods with flexible cross sections and its implementation in ManLab.These elements enabled us to perform several numerical simulations and have a better understanding of the behavior of tape springs thanks to full bifurcation diagrams obtained for significant tests

Abstract: X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) employs measurements of intensities and characteristic energies of x-rays emitted by samples submitted to X-radiation. It is fast, low-cost, non-destructive and a truly multielement analytical technique. These properties are very attractive to be applied to daily life samples. An example is the exploratory analysis of the composition of school supplies (crayons, modeling clays, and gouaches), materials largely employed by children. Through the Fundamental Parameters method (FP), that performs theoretical corrections for the interelement effect, it was observed that most of the samples did not contain toxic elements. However, three gouache brands presented Br (0.0024 ± 0.0001 to 0.0137 ± 0.0002 g/100g), and a crayon sample contained Ba (0.138 ± 0.005 g/100g). In chapter 3, the comparison of two EDXRF devices (portable and benchtop) aimed at monitoring jewelry and bijou (necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and piercings) through the determination of metals that may be harmful, such as Ni and Pb. Many samples presented Ni concentrations that could trigger allergic processes, clearly indicating the need for a closer monitoring by health agencies. Finally, in chapter 4, the determination of Na and K in table salts (refined, marine and light types) revealed the difficulties of the PF method when working with light elements (Z < 22). An univariate method based on peak areas calibration is an attractive alternative, even though steps of data manipulations might consume some time. Quantifications were performed with good correlations for both Na (r = 0.974), and K (r = 0.992). A Partial Least Square Regression (PLS) method with 5 LV was very fast. Na quantifications provided calibration errors lower than 16% and a correlation of 0.995. Of great concern was the observation of high Na+ levels in light cooking salts, a type consumed mostly by hypertensive patients. The presented applications may be done in a fast and multielement fashion, in accordance with the Green Chemistry specifications

Full textThis thesis sheds light on the history of the French tableware between 1910 and 1960 by examining the unexplored collection devoted to Jean Luce (1895-1964) at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris. These everyday objects are rarely studied by art historians, even though they remarkably capture the evolution of visual arts over that half-century. Luce’s creations exemplify the diversity of the Art Deco style in the inter-war period and the advent of design in the immediate post-war period. Furthermore, Luce reinvented the figure of the creator-editor specialized in this field by designing forms and motifs for both crockery and glassware, having them produced by an industrial chain and distributing them personally in his Parisian store on rue La Boétie. His work is our starting point, but we are also interested in the work of industrial designers, manufacturers of porcelain, earthenware and glass as well as tableware retailers, all of whom, in a mass production context, influenced aesthetic choices. From this, we look at how a style develops and spreads as we study the stages of creation, production and distribution of the tableware. More broadly, the evolution of these consumer goods was shaped by new manners of socializing and other changes in daily life. Consequently, our survey uses, in addition to the tools of art history, those of socio-cultural history

Full textThe present paper aims to develop models of informative tables containing attributes of technical and environmental performance of civil construction products for glass wool ceiling and flat roofs waterproofing. Standards were studied for Environmental Declaration (ISO 14000 standards) and a survey of requirements which demand specific attributes for building materials in the environmental certification systems for buildings LEED BD + C 2009, AQUA Residential and performance standard NBR 15.575: 2013 - Part 1. The research was developed with productive agents articulating the demands of designers and industrial segments of the mentioned products. Attributes which influence on building environmental quality were selected: content and type of recycled; packaging and product disposal; maker and product certifications. Attributes that influence the environmental quality of the building were selected: toxicity; content of volatile organic compounds; presence of carcinogenic substances; percentage in the composition and type of recycled content; disposal of product and packaging; certifications of the product and the manufacturer. Attributes that influence the technical performance of the equipment for safety, functionality and durability were selected for each type of product: reaction to fire; properties that affect the tightness, maintenance, thermal and acoustic performance; warranty terms and durability. The combination of these attributes allow, from the early stages of the design process, exercise of analysis and data interpretation for specifying suitable materials to the building needs and its users. The model presented, called as Environmental Table, favors to the dynamics involved in constructive chain information, progressing with the market knowledge about the subject and its technological innovations. The Environmental Table presents a simplified communication proposal and through reference encourages responsible and conscious specification, it can increase environmental education and direct the civil construction market to new ways in sustainability.

Full textThe aim of this study is double: bringing to know a not yet edited text and this through the most faithful possible transcription of a manuscript selected as an authentic historic witness to the plan of the literary history but also the given state of language. The systematic transcription of the text thus serves to bring to light certain linguistic practices of the scribe. On the one hand; we observe graphic uses which exceed the phonogrammic function, recognized originally as essential, to achieve a morphogrammic use emphasized by specific written forms which crea the recurrence of grammatical and lexical morphemes ; on the other hand, micro-systems appear through the original use of sequences and graphic segmentations which, in this manuscript, proceed very often from a reflexive movement. These observations are leading to think that a "grammar" of French goes back up beyond the XVth century. We would thus reveal in the case of this scribe an onset of grammatical reflection on the “writing procedures” of his manuscript which would announce the “theorization of French”, characteristic of the XVth and especially of XVIth centuries. While it is situated well before any form of standard prescriptive, this manuscript, which beside more traditional linguistic practices (XIIth-XIIIth centuries) sets up a certain number of micro-systems in the functioning of written forms as well as in that of the " graphic sequences ", announces nevertheless some of the principles which will lead to the normed codification of French. From this point of view, this manuscript allows to reveal the existence of a continuum in the history of the handwritten practices of French, registering this study in the perspectives of contemporary research on the French Diachrony
Schers, Jules. "Economic growth, unemployment and skills in South Africa : An Analysis of different recycling schemes of carbon tax revenue." Thesis, Université Paris-Saclay (ComUE), 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018SACLA039/document.
Full textThis PhD thesis gives a numerical illustration of how a carbon tax affects South African GDP, employment, CO2 emissions and socio-economic inequality. It uses a “hybrid” computable general equilibrium model of an open economy in a one-step projection from 2005 to 2035. It models second-best economies, notably skill-related rigidities in the labour market and in production of electricity. Seven scenarios for recycling of carbon tax revenue are analysed, plus an option to invest a part of tax revenue in improvement of skills of labour. The analysis shows that under conventional assumptions about technological change, a carbon tax of around 100 ZAR2005 (18 USD2013) per tonne of CO2 will have little negative consequences for GDP and employment, when combined with the right type of tax revenue recycling: Labour subsidies and company profit tax reduction likely lead to the best macro-economic outcomes, though do not reduce inequality. Additional measures are needed to reduce “energy poverty”. To achieve South Africa’s NDC of the Paris Agreement, a carbon tax rate of around 300 ZAR2005 or 55 USD2013 per tonne of CO2 is necessary. However, this could have serious impacts on GDP growth. Also, without a change in the trend of increasing labour productivity, such lower GDP will lead to higher unemployment than in the reference case. An investment in skills of 7.5 billion ZAR2005 of annual Ctax revenue, with the objective of increasing access to high quality education and reducing the high skill labour shortage, if fond to have a very positive impact on GDP growth. However better calibration data is required. The findings of this PhD thesis furthermore call for thorough examination of what type of technological change could be expected for South Africa. Technological progress, consumer preferences and international circumstances limit the economy’s capacity to restructure and decarbonise and therefore to reduce negative consequences of carbon taxation for GDP growth. Proper assessment of future technological change is relevant for all sectors and inputs. Examples are given which show that energy and materials efficiency have an important role for future GDP growth under carbon constraints, because they determine the economy’s flexibility to reduce energy consumption and to substitute it, e.g. by labour. This finding normally holds not only for South Africa, but also for the rest of the world. These results also imply that international climate policy has to address technology transfer and the different potentials of national economies to decarbonise seriously

The text brings the analysis of aspects of the literary discourse as the processes of construction of the scenes and the magical universe, in which the narratives of Marina Colasanti are realized, having as it shows the tales of the works Doze reis e a moca no labirinto do vento (2006): "The woman ramada", Uma ideia toda azul (2006): "Beyond the frame", "Between the leaves of green ó" and "Yarn after yarn". The general and specific objectives are to highlight and distinguish the encompassing and generic scenes present in the narratives, to identify the nature of the verbal sign in its relation to the nonverbal sign, and to analyze intertext resources, paratext, among others, as an artistic procedure. The narrative plans are approached, in which the characters are realized mimically, starting from the initial assumption formulated by Dominique Maingueneau. Non-verbal language is an invitation to read verbal language and vice versa. Both are associated with the signs that are constructed through the textual writing: loom and fabric. They can be seen now either explicitly or implicitly, and put in the service of a power that is realized by the act of reading. Thus, in the narrative text, there are traces of a speech in which the text is staged.

German patriotic poet Heine (Heinrich Heine, 1797-1856) was exiled to France in 1831. Thirteen years after leaving his homeland, when first he returned to Germany, Heine observed that the state was still characterized by feudal autocracy, and that society was filled with religious superstition. Upon his return, he wrote the poem, "Germany, a Winter's Tale" (Deutschland. Ein Wintermärchen), in which he reflected on the political situation in terms of the issues of his time, Greco-Roman and medieval allusions, and other religious allusions. The satire (Zeitsatiren) was written by a Heine dissatisfied with the status quo. In the text, many biblical allusions are applied to ridicule contemporary popular topics, such as Cultural Censorship and Restoration. For readers in Taiwan, the religious allusions constitute a barrier to understanding and most Taiwanese are unfamiliar with the Bible. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the usage of the religious allusions of Heine’s poem "Germany, a Winter's Tale" in hopes that the analysis and interpretation offered will help Chinese-speaking readers understand the religious allusions of the Bible and better appreciate the issues ironically highlighted in this work.
