Abstract:
Transmission of honey bee viruses to other insects, and vice versa, has previously been reported and the true ecological importance of this phenomenon is still being realized. Members of the family Vespidae interact with honey bees via predation or through the robbing of brood or honey from colonies, and these activities could result in virus transfer. In this study we screened Vespa velutina and Vespa crabro collected from Europe and China and also honey bees and Vespula vulgaris from the UK for Moku virus (MV), an Iflavirus first discovered in the predatory social wasp Vespula pensylvanica i

Objective: The objective of this study was to list the social vespids occurring in Spain, determine their presence in each region, and correlate the data with the vespids responsible for allergic reactions and their progression over time. Methods: Insects distribution data were collected in two phases: from the southern half of Spain (2008–2012), and from the northern half of Spain (2016–2019). Data for the vespids were collected from the prescriptions of Hymenoptera venom immunotherapy (HVIT) at six Spanish hospitals in the years 2009 and 2019. The social vespid wasps are common insect predators and several species behave in unison in the same biotopes. It is commonly accepted that social wasps are mainly opportunistic generalist predators without differences in prey selection and hence they compete for the same food resources. Trophic positions of six vespid wasp species and their potential prey from four sites in Finland and one in the UK were evaluated using carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes (δ 13 C and δ 15 N). The difference in isotope values indicated different trophic positions among species. In general, Dolichovespula spp.

The highest numbers of both species were recorded at a height of 1.5 meters from ground level, while significantly lower numbers were observed at 12 meters. It flourishes in newly invaded ecosystems, where it has become a major problem in urban settings due to its close association with humans. The wasp is characterised by its devastating economic, social and environmental impact. Since its initial discovery in 1974 in Cape Town, all aspects of the wasp’s invasion throughout South Africa have been poorly documented. The wasp’s occurre

Within social insect colonies, sterile workers are responsible for brood care, while queens are the primary egg-layers. These reproductive caste differences are often accompanied by pronounced morphological distinctions. Queen and worker phenotypic differences are particularly remarkable considering caste is environmentally, rather than genetically, determined. Environmental caste determination can produce intralocus genetic conflict between castes, particularly when homologous traits are highly dimorphic. Abstract:
Since the mid-1960s, the living arrangements of older adults (those aged 50 and above) have shifted significantly. Today, most older adults either live alone, with a spouse, or with a partner (Ausubel, 2020; Vespa, 2017). Although the proportion of older adults living with a spouse remains stable (Vespa, 2017), a declining share of older adults lives alone (Stepler, 2020) and an increasing share are in multigenerational households (Washington, Gryn, Anderson, & Kreider, 2023). However, less is known about other living arrangements, such as living with roommates (home sharing) or siblings.

Abstract:
Key markers of adulthood include living independently, marriage, full time employment, completed education, and homeownership. Young adults are waiting longer to get married (FP-24-08) and often follow more complex pathways through young adulthood (Vespa, 2017), raising the question of whether these milestones are simply delayed or will be foregone. Using the American Community Survey at four 10-year intervals (1994, 2004, 2014, and 2024) this Family Profile examines the shares of young adults (ages 30-34) who have achieved a series of markers of adulthood.
