In the present paper, we consider a design method that provides low-sensitivity control with robust stability for multiple-input/multiple-output continuous time-invariant systems having an uncertain number of right half plane poles. First, the class of uncertainty considered in the present paper is defined and the necessary and sufficient robust stability condition is presented for the system having this class of uncertainty under the assumption that the number of closed right half plane poles of the plant is equal to that of the nominal plant. In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy control scheme is developed for a class of uncertain multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear systems with uncertain actuator failures. Within this scheme, a fixed grouping of redundant actuators and a proportional actuation scheme for each group are considered. Afterward, a fuzzy system is used for the online approximation of a nominal control vector. The parameter adaptation laws for the nominal controller are driven by the prediction error, which is defined as the difference between the unknown nominal controller and the fuzzy controller. The study describes nominal classification in Ashéninka Perené, of the Kampan subgrouping of Arawak and presents preliminary results from fieldwork data collected in Ashéninka communities of southeastern Peru. The results show that Ashéninka Perené has three systems of nominal classification, (i) class and measure terms, (ii) noun and verbal classifiers, and (iii) a gender-based classification system. Noun classifiers categorize nouns in terms of their shape, dimensionality, and consistency; the categorization of verbal classifiers is based on the semantic parameters of shape, dimensionality,

Summary The interdisciplinary research (philology, typology, morphology, phonology) presented here explores the role of gender in the meaning and morphology of Coptic nouns. Coptic has a predominantly grammatical gender system, albeit with a niche for semantically based gender assignment. The gender system marks a three-way semantic contrast between a [male] versus a [female] versus an [unspecified] gender value, even where the morphology draws only a two-way distinction between grammatical masculine and feminine gender. The count form is analyzed here as accusative singular. Several empirical arguments are offered in support of this unusual account, and potential challenges are addressed. The account places Bulgarian among an understudied group of languages, where singular vs. plural marking on nouns in numerically-quantified nominal phrases varies by noun class.

It is often forgotten that all predicates can be conjugated whether they are expressed in verbal or nominal forms. As the form of support verbs depends on the semantic class of the nominal predicate, we need first to establish a semantic typology of predicative nouns where the distinction between actions, events and states plays an

The influence of the maximum neuron activation gain on complete stability robustness is discussed for a class of third-order neural networks. It is shown that high values of the gain lead to an extremely small complete stability margin of all nominal symmetric neural networks, thus allowing to conclude that complete stability robustness cannot be, in general, guaranteed.

AbstractIn this paper, we propose that there is a speech-act structure in the nominal spine, just as there is in the clausal spine. Its function is to encode what we do when we utter a nominal: that is, we name, describe, or track individuals. Thus, speech-act structure establishes a link between the discourse referent and the speech-act situation. The evidence we discuss comes from nominals that lack this speech-act structure, namely impersonal pronouns. We argue that impersonal pronouns have in common that they lack nominal speech-act structure but are not otherwise a natural class: they var
