Abstract:
Is our mental health at risk due to spending a significant amount of time online due to the COVID-19 pandemic? In the new era that we are living in, where we live a life that coexists with the virus, we are participating in video conferences held online rather than on-site in order to slow the spread of the virus. Video conferencing has become our necessity since March 2020, and is becoming a new standard, especially in the MICE industry. Recently, however, people who have excessively used video conference platforms are complaining of video conference fatigue, which is a new negative emotion such as stress, anxiety, and worry as well as general work fatigue. Therefore, this study focused on the mechanism of video conferencing in MICE, which is rapidly digitally converted by the virus, and the digital psychological factors of the participants. This study derived the quality attributes of video conferencing in MICE and empirically analyzed the relationship with digital psychological factors of the video conference participants, such as video conference fatigue, social presence, and flow. One hundred and thirty-eight valid questionnaires collected from participants of several international academic conferences held in EXCO, Daegu, Korea, from 23 to 28 May 2021, were analyzed. The main results are as follows. First, unlike general video conference fatigue, MICE video conference fatigue was not found to be related to the preceding and following variables. This is due to the characteristics of the MICE video conference and the expertise of the participants. Second, social presence was identified as an important variable in MICE video conferencing. Although media-mediated, the feeling of being present with the presenter and participants was found to affect the participants’ flow in the video conference. Third, in this study, the fun factor was identified as the most important video conference quality that can enhance the social presence of the video conference participants of MICEs.

Abstract:
Virtual conferences are environment-friendly alternatives to physical conferences. COVID-19 pandemic has increased the use of virtual conferences. However, they are not without their share of impact on the environment. We assessed the carbon emissions (CE) of a three day national public health conference with 1474 attendees held in virtual mode and the potential CE saved compared to the physical mode. The CE of the virtual conference were estimated to be 6.44 Metric Tonne (MT) carbon dioxide (CO2) Equivalent (Eq). Potential CE that would have resulted from the physical mode of the conference were 355.85 MT CO2 Eq which is 55 times higher than the virtual mode. The live video streaming of the proceedings was the highest contributor to the virtual conference’s overall CE (81.5%). A digitally sober conference would have emitted 1.27 MT CO2 Eq, translating to a CE reduction of 80.3% from the estimated virtual conference emission. Academic conferences should strive to become carbon neutral by adopting the virtual mode of conferencing, and within that, digital sobriety should be the policy of action. Policies to motivate the adoption of virtual conferencing and digital sobriety need to be undertaken at the organizational and individual levels.

Electronic activities are realized on the Internet due to the growth of the Internet. As conference organization is getting more popular, we proposed an electronic virtual conference system (EVCS) to handle all activities of real-world conferences. The EVCS includes a virtual conference management system (VCMS) and a mobile conferencing system (MCS). Video conferencing is a trend of future communications. With the improvement of broadband network technologies, video conferencing becomes possible in the global society. It is feasible to use video conferencing technologies to organize future international conferences. As such, transportation and accommodation costs are saved. This paper proposed a total solution toward virtual conferencing. We use a mobile server/storage pre-broadcasting technique, as well as a communication network optimization algorithm, which is based on a graph computation mechanism. The system also relies on a network bandwidth reservation facility as well as a multicasting control function. With the assistance of the virtual conference management system, the system is able to support virtual conferencing in the future academic society.

Abstract The motivation for the project was the necessity of finding solutions to situations characterized by difficulty in communication, such as trading between different countries, immigrants unable to speak the language, or between hearing and deaf people who use sign language. These and other cases can be solved thanks to interpreting services. Yet because of educational commitments of professionals, organizational time, budget, and locations, it is not always possible to avail of an on-site interpreter. In this context, technology offers a solution through remote interpretation. The present draws inspiration from the research project “VEASYT Live! for conference: linguistic and technological solutions for the supply of video remote interpreting services in conference settings”. The work was financed by the European Social Fund and took place between 2016 and 2017 in the Linguistic and Cultural Compared Studies Department of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in partnership with VEASYT srl, a company that developed a video remote interpreting (VRI) service in both vocal languages and Italian Sign Language. The aim of the research is to develop VRI for conference situations such as seminars, conferences and academic lectures.

Abstract:
During the covid-19 pandemic, most lecturers in higher education conduct the learning process with video conference. However, it seems that the use of video conferences in learning is believed to still be considered no more effective than face-to-face methods directly. Various perceptions related to the use of video conferences have sprung up from various circles. This research aims to find out the perception of students to the use of video conferences in the learning process in the pandemic period. The sample consisted of 49 students at one of the universities in Mataram City. The method used in this study is descriptive research methods. The data was retrieved using questionnaires and interviews. Based on the results of the data analysis showed that, as many as 86.39% of students have a positive perception of the use of video conferences in the learning process during the pandemic. The average student assumes that using video conferences can facilitate the learning process, can motivate students in learning, and more effective in communicating with lecturers when compared to using platforms that can only send messages in the form of text.

Video Conference merupakan salah satu teknologi yang banyak digunakan untuk pembelajaran pada masa pandemi Covid-19. UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang sebagai salah satu perguruan tinggi yang menerapkan pembelajaran daring (dalam jaringan) memiliki platform video conference sendiri yang terhubung dengan sistem pembelajaran elektronik (e-learning). Namun tidak semua mahasiswa dapat mengakses koneksi internet yang lancar. Hal ini menyebabkan penurunan kualitas video conference sehingga mengganggu proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini berupaya menemukan cara untuk memperbaiki kualitas video conference pada koneksi internet yang terbatas. Teknik yang digunakan untuk memperbaiki kualitas video conference adalah dengan memprioritaskan paket data video conference dibandingkan paket data yang lain pada antrian router. Dengan demikian akan dapat meminimalisir delay & jitter pada video conference. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan memanipulasi antrian paket data pada jaringan komputer, dapat meningkatkan kualitas video conference pada bandwidth yang terbatas dari parameter delay dan jitter antara 20% - 30%. Sedangkan untuk packet loss menunjukkan 0% namun retransmission packet cukup banyak pada skenario tanpa prioritas paket terutama pada bandwidth < 3Mbps. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa manipulasi prioritas paket data berdampak pada berkurangnya lag / informasi yang hilang ketika proses video conference berlangsung terutama pada bandwidth < 3Mbps.

Proses pembelajaran yang awalnya berlangsung secara tatap muka beralih menjadi daring. Salah satu media pembelajaran daring yang banyak digunakan adalah video conference. Akan tetapi, penggunaan video conference memunculkan fenomena baru bagi penggunanya, yaitu zoom fatigue atau kelelahan akibat penggunaan video conference. Meski telah cukup banyak diulas, fenomena zoom fatigue masih belum banyak dikaji secara ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi dampak dan penyebab zoom fatigue pada mahasiswa salah satu perguruan tinggi negeri di Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi, dan dokumen pendukung. Partisipan yang terlibat adalah lima orang mahasiswa, lima orang anggota keluarga mahasiswa, dan dua orang dosen. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan dampak zoom fatigue berupa dampak fisiologis, psikologis, perilaku, hubungan dengan orang sekitar dan tanda-tanda kemunculan zoom fatigue. Faktor-faktor penyebab zoom fatigue terdiri atas, faktor internal dan faktor eksternal, kendala, serta hambatan penggunaan video conference.The COVID-19 pandemic has spread worldwide and affected many life aspects. One of the aspects that have been affected significantly by the pandemic is education. Offline educational systems need to adapt to the situation by shifting to online educational systems. Video conferences have gained popularity as one of the methods schools can use to conduct online classes. However, the rise of video conferences has brought out a new problem to solve, i.e., the zoom fatigue phenomenon. Zoom fatigue is a condition characterized by fatigue from video conferences. Despite the trending discussion about Zoom fatigue, the scientific study is still limited. This study aims to explore the impacts and causes of zoom fatigue among university students in Semarang, Central Java. This study is a qualitative study with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and complimentary document artifacts. Participants comprised five university students, five family members, and two lecturers. This study finds that the impacts of zoom fatigue consist of physical, physiological, behavioral, interpersonal connection, and zoom fatigue symptoms. Meanwhile, the cause factors include internal and external factors, obstacles, and hindrances.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membangun sistem informasi pengelolaan jadwal video conference menggunakan framework codeigniter dan metode pengembangan perangkat lunak yaitu metode waterfall. Metode waterfall memiliki lima prosedur, yaitu requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, dan support dan maintenance. Hasil dari penelitian adalah sistem informasi berhasil dibangun dengan menerapkan framework codeigniter yang memiliki tiga model yaitu model, view, controller (MVC). Sistem informasi ini dapat mengelola data-data jadwal video conference yang akan dilakukan dan dapat melakukan rekap laporan jadwal video conference sesuai kebutuhan. Pada hasil pengujian, semua menu pada sistem informasi ini dapat digunakan sesuai harapan yang diinginkan.

The COVID-19 epidemic has made online video conferencing extremely popular throughout the world, with many schools, companies and government sectors using video conferencing applications (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) in a daily basis. These applications also provide local or cloud recording services, which allow the replay or sharing of video conference recordings (VCRs) in a later time. Such convenience, however, can easily cause infringement of privacy as meeting participants’ personally identifiable information (e.g., face, name, voice) may be exposed to the public without their awareness or consent. While privacy regulation and training can help relieve the situation, efficient and effective tools are also highly desired to protect the privacysensitive users in the VCRs before their public releases. In this work, we propose the first Privacy-Preserving Publishing system (ZoomP3 ) that automatically processes video and audio information in VCRs for privacy protection. Besides leveraging and integrating multiple state-of-the-art computer vision and audio processing tools seamlessly into our system, a number of optimization algorithms are proposed to improve the scalability of the system, enabling it to protect the privacy of long video conferences. We have conducted various tests with short and long videos, and the results (with online demos) verified that ZoomP3 system is suitable for largescale use. It may be applied as an online service, e.g., by Zoom, or by large organizations such as universities, research institutes and government sectors.

The article provides a comparative analysis of online and offline mock conferences with consecutive interpreting in terms of their learning potential. Describing four online conferences and an offline conference for triangulation, the author addresses organizational and technical aspects, interpreters’ delivery and the quality of the target texts. Based on the mock conference video recordings, reports and participants’ comments, the author concludes that the challenges met by beginner student interpreters online and offline are comparable, adjusted for technical requirements and interaction with the audience. Called by Dr. Tao Wang from School of Data Science and Computer, Sun Yat-Sen University and researcher Shuanghua Yang from the Engineering College, Southern University of Science and Technology, the conference invited scholars and experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, computer networks and communications from various universities to participate in the review and guidance of this conference. The conference focuses on the latest research fields such as “artificial intelligence”, “computer networks” and “Communications”, and aims to provide an international cooperation and exchange platform for experts, scholars and business managers in the fields of artificial intelligence, computer networks and communications application to share their research achievements, discuss the key challenges and research directions of the development of this field, and jointly promote the industrialization cooperation and continuous innovation of international academic achievements. This collection of Proceedings compiles oral and paper presentations submitted by the authors and scrutinized by the Special Committee. The conference was scheduled to be held on October 28-29, 2021 at The Westin Hefei Wanda Hotel, Hefei, Anhui, China. In view of travel restrictions and indoor activities related to COVID-19, we were forced to move the conference online. Attendees were notified one month in advance that the on-site conference was changed to an online conference, and the time and order of the conference were determined. The online conference was held on the video conferencing software Tencent Meeting. The video conference was held on the original date, but due to the large number of attendees, we extended the Meeting for 2 days. Due to the wide coverage of this conference and the large number of attendees, we divided the conference into main venue and sub-venue. The opening ceremony was held in the main venue and a speech was delivered by the invited speaker. After the main venue, we divided the invited 53 authors into 2 groups. Each author spoke for about 10-15 minutes on detailed material in the slides, with the same amount of time set aside for questions and discussion. The format of questioning and discussion was that after each author’s introduction, the conference chairman and committee members asked and answered questions. At least one attendee could ask questions that will be answered by the speaker. This conference has brought together many excellent works and the latest ideas and concepts. New ideas have been provided in the fields of information technology and mechanical engineering applications. For this, we have set up three awards, which were won by six authors. Due to the large number of attendees and the instability of the video conference software, we edited and retained part of the conference speech pictures and videos after the video conference. We put some screenshots of the conference on the official website for display. Although most attendees expressed regret that we had not been able to have the informal face-to-face discussions that usually take place between conferences, the virtual conferences had been surprisingly successful. The organizing and editorial committee of the AICNC 2021 hopes you enjoy the reading of this volume of the JPCS. Besides, we wish to thank all authors and participants for providing their valuable contributions for this proceeding as well as the reviewers for their constructive recommendations and criticism aiding to improve the presented articles. Abstract:
This paper reports the implementation of video conference as a distance learning media that enhances teachers’ productivities in teaching English in a state high school in Tasikmalaya, West Java. To give much greater size sample, this study took two sample classes with the overall fifty-six students participated in this study by using cluster sampling technique. This study employed a qualitative research design focusing on the survey study method. A self-administration of twenty questionnaires provided to identify the distinctions perceptions between male and female students thought. A depth information appear to be as important to gain more in-depth information and continuous responses to explore the advantages and its disadvantages of video conferencing that have been undertaken by interviewing the students. The findings revealed that despite some limitation, the teaching and learning process with video conferencing was successful, then male students appear more favorably and react positively compared to female students. By having more positive responses, video conferencing proven to enhance teachers’ productivities. More significantly, students argue on its advantages and disadvantages of video conferencing that was undertaken by interview. The advantages of video conference such as video conference could connect between teachers and students wherever they are, video conference alow them to access lessons with teachers separately, video conference motivated, video conference enhances teachers’ role, responsibility, creativity, and students’ insights and learning experiences using new learning systems. Besides, video conference also has weaknesses or disadvantages when it is applied such as interactions limits, unstable internet connections, unclear sounds, video delay, and background noises. This can be noted that today learning and teaching process can benefit from using video conference as a distance learning media that teachers can used to improve their productivity, as well as substitution for teachers’ absences in the classroom, so that learning can be done, and teacher productivity maintained wherever they are. Dewasa ini teknologi kompersi untuk video sudah sampai pada codec H.264 dan H.264-High Profile, dengan menggunakan teknologi H.264-High Profile dapat mengkonsumsi bandwidth setengah dari H.264 (tanpa enkripsi). Berbicara aspek keamanan tidak lepas dari enkripsi lalu lintas data termasuk audio dan video yang dapat di enkripsi. Untuk itulah agar dapat mendekati aspek keamanan dan kenyamanan yang seimbang perlu di analisa dan di teliti mengenai performa H.264 dan H.264-High Profile yang telah di enkripsi. Untuk meneliti tingkat aspek performa dan keamanan video conference perlu adanya teknik dan metode yang di gunakan. Dengan memanfaatkan parameter jitter , packet loss , dan PSNR kita dapat menarik kesimpulan baik atau tidaknya performa video conference. Namun untuk aspek keamanan, percakapan dua arah atau lebih harus dipastikan agar tidak dapat dilihat dan kompatibel dengan perangkat video conference yang ada. Dengan memanfaatkan teknik enkripsi pada layer 2 atau 3 hal ini memungkinkan dapat dilakukan.

How does communication mode affect people's experience of social presence, presence, and performance, and how does it affect their actual collaboration in a virtual environment? In a first experiment, subjects communicated by text-chat, audio conference, or video conference in a desktop collaborative virtual environment (CVE). Both perceived social presence and presence were shown to be lower in the text-chat condition than in the audio- and video-conference conditions. People spent a longer time performing a decision-making task together, spoke fewer words in total, and also spoke fewer words per second in the text-chat environment. Finally, more words per second were spoken in the audio-conference than in the video-conference condition. In a second experiment, collaboration in a CVE audio- and a CVE video condition was compared to collaboration in a Web audio-conference and a Web video-conference condition. Results showed that presence was rated higher in the two video than in the two audio conditions and especially in the Web video condition. People spent more time in the video than in the audio conditions and more words per second were spoken in the Web than in the CVE conditions. In conclusion, it was found that both the communication media used and the environment in which collaboration takes place (CVE or Web) make a difference for how subjects experience interaction and for their communication behavior.

In article, which aims to apply communication network security to improve the transmission quality of an educational video conference, an adaptive resource allocation algorithm is used to optimize the transmission quality over the network. The application of the protocol to improve the transmission quality of a video conference can increase the transmission speed, reduce the bit error rate. The algorithm minimizes latency using ant colony optimization and clustering, which ultimately achieves the goal of reducing power consumption and improving security. In order to improve system performance, the problem of power distribution must be taken into account when improving the transmission quality of an educational video conference. By analyzing the adaptive resource allocation mechanism applicable to network security while improving the transmission quality of an educational video conference, conditions were created for optimizing resource allocation.

Intelligibility Threshold for Cued Speech in H.264 Video Conference This paper discusses the cued speech recognition methods in videoconference. Cued speech is a specific gesture language that is used for communication between deaf people. We define the criteria for sentence intelligibility according to answers of testing subjects (deaf people). In our tests we use 30 sample videos coded by H.264 codec with various bit-rates and various speed of cued speech. Additionally, we define the criteria for consonant sign recognizability in single-handed finger alphabet (dactyl) analogically to acoustics. We use another 12 sample videos coded by H.264 codec with various bit-rates in four different video formats. To interpret the results we apply the standard scale for subjective video quality evaluation and the percentual evaluation of intelligibility as in acoustics. From the results we construct the minimum coded bit-rate recommendations for every spatial resolution.

Data transmission in the traditional video conference system is facing certain security risks currently, for which an experiment scheme for application of quantum key in the traditional video conference system is designed in this paper. As for this scheme, quantum gateway is seamlessly embedded into the traditional video conference system, based on which data transmitted through video conference system can be encrypted by the quantum key generated by such quantum gateway. Based on the reality of relatively low code generation rate of quantum key of quantum gateway, a new quantum key expansion algorithm is put forward and feasibility of such algorithm is verified by using NIST frequency test standard. Quantum keys with different error rates are used to conduct encryption and decryption of three 720p single-screen video images respectively, in addition to which Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) of the original images and decrypted images are calculated. It can be proved through comparison between such values and theoretical calculated values that quantum key can ensure normal image quality of video. This experiment is of great significance for applying quantum key in real video conference systems and ensuring security of video data transmission.

Based on these considerations to facilitate the interaction and evaluation of the online learning process, this community service activity will carry out the Integration of Video Conferences in Primary School Student Learning Applications for Ease of Interaction and Evaluation of the Online Teaching and Learning Process, so that online learning support can have a maximum impact on education development. In its construction, the SDLC method is used. And used white-box testing methods and BlackBox testing. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimentasi dengan populasi mahasiswa Teknik Informatika STIKI, dengan pengambilan sampel secara random pada mahasiswa yang menempuh mata kuliah bersama dan mata kuliah keahlian. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah Uji Mann Whitney. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah tidak ada perbedaan hasil belajar yang diukur dari nilai posttest mahasiswa antara pembelajaran daring dengan menggunakan video conference dan LMS Moodle yang dikembangkan di STIKI tanpa menggunakan video conference pada mata kuliah bersama. Sedangkan pada mata kuliah keahlian ada perbedaan hasil belajar yang diukur dari nilai posttest mahasiswa antara kegiatan perkuliahan daring dengan menggunakan video conference dan kegiatan daring dengan Moodle saja tanpa menggunakan video conference. Pembelajaran melalui video conference tidak selalu berpengaruh pada hasil belajar, namun ada beberapa faktor lain yang mempengaruhi, seperti tingkat kesulitan materi dan ketertarikan mahasiswa untuk mempelajari materi.

A video-conference involvIng three rural sites and a transmission site in Perth was conducted. The one-day training program covered the generic issues involved with student supervision. Based on feedback from participants, results illustrate a wide acceptance of the generic supervision content and a moderate acceptance of the video-conferencing technology as a delivery medium. Although further refinement of the manner in which video-conferences are delivered is required, this study supports the utility of video-conferencing as a means to deliver supervision training in a multidisciplinary manner in rural areas.

As a result of this study, some ideas are employed to transfer video and audio information through the dial up network with minimum jerky views, discontinuous voice and with a reasonable number of users. A video conference standard, which contains video standard and audio standard, is chosen to build a developed Video Conference System that takes into consideration the monitoring of the network load, by using a special designed sensor, called Network Load Sensor. The NLS is built to sense the network load. Based on the test results, the video resolution and audio compression ratio vary continuously. The system is implemented using visual C++, with using of sockets programming as the interface between clients and the conference server and the use of the Windows Multimedia Platform SDK, which support some audiovisual functions.

Analysis of security model development using elliptic curves and secret key transfer using Diffie–Hellman algorithm is carried out. Currently, video communication software is used everywhere. Main task of such software applications is help to people communicate with colleagues, relatives and friends at great distances. However, it is very important that their conversation remains confidential, otherwise any information said can get to third parties, and then – cost of leaking personal information can change from damage done to one person to damage done to entire states. Therefore, it is so important to use only software products that have passed certification process when communicating where information with limited access will be used. Software tool has been developed that allows creating secure video conferences with ECIES encryption algorithm on elliptic curves, which allows holding conferences without fear of being compromised. Thus, proposed application significantly increases users security, their personal data, as well as confidentiality of their conversations. Developed software product can be used to conduct secure video conference.

For the last four years there has been a videoconferencing link between the Karlskrona hospital and the university hospital of Lund. Because of a need to transmit angiographic films, its use has been gradually expanded to become an everyday routine, used for both elective and emergency examinations. During 1994 and 1995, 1121 cases were examined over the video link. Apart from 156 normal cases all were discussed with surgeons, most at 96 weekly conferences but approximately 50 at conferences taking place as soon as possible after the examination. Assuming that an average of three doctors attended the conferences before the video link was available, this amounts to a saving of 3 8 h in travelling time per videoconference. The average salary was 300 SKr/h and train tickets cost a further 400 SKr per person. The cost of the ISDN connection was approximately 1800 SKr/conference. The net gain was thus about 6500 SKr per videoconference, without taking into account the work that could be done with the doctors still in Karlskrona after the conference.

Conducting realistic interactions while communicating efficiently in online conferences is highly desired but challenging. In this work, we propose a novel pixel-style virtual avatar for interacting with virtual objects in virtual conferences that can be generated in real-time. It consists of a 2D segmented head video stream for real-time facial expressions and a 3D point cloud body for realistic interactions, both of which are generated from RGB video input of a monocular webcam. We obtain a human-only video stream with a human matting method and generate the 3D avatar’s arms with a 3D pose estimation method, which improves the stereoscopic realism and sense of interaction of conference participants while interacting with virtual objects. Our approach fills the gap between 2D video conferences and 3D virtual avatars and combines the advantages of both. We evaluated our pixel-style avatar by conducting a user study; the result proved that the efficiency of our method is superior to other various existing avatar types.

Abstract International communication with different digital tools is now established both at universities and in other contexts worldwide. It is therefore relevant to describe how one of these tools is used in higher education. In the present study the focus is on seminars carried out in student-interactive video-conferences on didactic and pedagogical issues with student teachers. The participants were international and Swedish student teachers at the Department of Education at a Swedish university and at two different campuses. The results are based on analyses of the students’ written reports completed after the seminars and show that the interactive video-conference is useful to establish contacts between students in different places and to develop intercultural understanding of school-related matters. The video-conference is thus a way to work with internationalization in a sustainable way in teacher education, giving opportunities for the exchange of ideas and experiences both at personal and professional levels without mobility.

Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan grounded teoritis. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dengan 45 siswa dan Google form. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, pembelajaran online dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi video conference belum terlalu efektif dalam proses pembelajaran. Akan tetapi dengan memperhitungkan situasi disaat ini dengan adanya Covid-19 hingga pemanfaatan aplikasi video conference sangat membantu dalam proses pembelajaran.Kata kunci : Efektifitas, video conference, Media Pembelajarn. With the current threat of Covid-19, it is hoped that educational institutions need to implement online learning activities. Online learning activities can be supported through the use of video conferencing applications provided by the University. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using video conferencing applications to conduct online learning for students of the Economic Education study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung. The method used in this research is qualitative and uses a grounded theoretical approach. Data collection techniques using interviews with 45 students and Google forms. Based on the research results obtained, online learning by utilizing video conferencing applications has not been very effective in the learning process. Background Medical conferences are forums for research, continuing medical education, and networking. Social media is increasingly used for communication and networking due to its low cost and ability to overcome large distances. This study investigates the impact that social media brings to the current conference system. Methods There are three parts of this study: (1) comparing two similar brachial plexus injuries (BPIs) courses without (2009) and with (2017) social media support, and the participants' feedback; (2) sharing our experiences in the management of the 2018 International Course on SuperMicrosurgery (ICSM) conference; and (3) evaluating the studies from the social media platform International Microsurgery Club (IMC), for the consensus pertaining to social media and conference system. Results With the help of social media, international attendance increased during the 2017 BPI conference compared with the 2009 BPI course (25 nationalities in 2009 vs. 35 in 2017). At least 23% obtained their meeting information through social media. Live surgery was the overall main attraction (79%). The 2018 ICSM meeting revealed that video posts increased attendance; videos that were the most effective in attracting (viewership) were either short or pertained to surgical procedures. Facebook, Messenger, and WeChat smartphone applications were effective for immediate communication and troubleshooting among the participants. From the IMC polls, 78% believe that the social media and the conference complemented each other. 97% attended the conference to update their skills and knowledge. Conclusion Social media is a quick and economic tool in promoting medical conferences and instant messenger systems offer immediate communication amongst associates. Despite the popularity of social media, the conference still has its irreplaceable role. The combination of the conference and the social media enhances the training and education of microsurgeons.

Layanan ini dapat mengirim dan menerima data dalam bentuk audio dan video secara simultan atau teknik pengiriman secara dua arah. Data berupa audio dan video yang memiliki bandwidth cukup besar sehingga membutuhkan jaringan yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan bandwidth. Oleh karena itu, dipilih jaringan 4G LTE sebagai jaringan yang melakukan layanan video conference. Dalam penelitian ini jenis video conference yang dipilih adalah video conference multipoint dengan 4 provider yang berbeda - beda. Pengamatan dilakukan selama sebulan di gedung Politeknik Negeri Graha Sriwijaya. Hasil penelitian ini telah menyimpulkan bahwa provider A lebih unggul dari provider lain. di mana provider A hanya memiliki penundaan 6,03 ms dan packet loss hanya 0,2%. Kemudian provider D menempati urutan kedua, provider C menempati urutan ketiga dan terakhir provider B. Begitu juga penggunaan provider data A memiliki lebih banyak penggunaan data internet daripada penyedia lainnya. Ini dibuktikan dengan kualitas yang ditawarkan dan kejelasan gambar selama video conference.

The aim of this research is to develop a model of tutorial delivered through video conference. A formative evaluation model of Dick, Carey and Carey was implemented in this developmental research. This model of formative consists of some systematic phases such as: need analysis, designing a prototype of the program, one-to-one try out with individual student and small group evaluation. The result of the study reveals that the video conference learning materials should be designed and developed based on several factors instructional objectives, potential of the video conference as a delivery system, course characterstics and instructional media support. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan model tutorial disampaikan melalui video conference. Sebuah model evaluasi formatif dari Dick, Carey dan Carey dilaksanakan dalam penelitian perkembangan ini. Model formatif terdiri dari beberapa tahap sistematis seperti: analisis kebutuhan, merancang prototipe program, satu-ke-satu mencoba dengan individu siswa dan evaluasi kelompok kecil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan pembelajaran video conference harus dirancang dan dikembangkan berdasarkan beberapa faktor - tujuan instruksional, potensi konferensi video sebagai sistem pengiriman, tentu saja characterstics dan instruksional dukungan media.

Dengan sistem ini penanganan terhadap penyakit pasien dapat dilakukan lebih cepat karena menggunakan komunikasi client dan server yang dapat mengakses langsung data rekam medis, sebagai acuan penyembuhan pasien. Sistem ini, menghasilkan komunikasi kesehatan berbasis client server yang terintegrasi dengan data rekam medis pasien sekaligus menyediakan fitur videocall. Komunikasi dapat dilakukan bersamaan mengakses data rekam medis sehingga setiap pengguna dapat menemukan solusi yang tepat dan cepat untuk penanganan penyakit pasien. Server harus selalu terbuka untuk menghubungkan user. Server menampilkan setiap aktivitas user khususnya saat log in dan log out. Pengguna dapat memilih lawan bicara yang telah log in untuk penanganan pasien. Melalui kuisioner kinerja sistem, diperoleh 97,78% jawaban Ya, 2,22% jawaban ragu, 0% jawaban tidak. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan sistem berjalan dengan baik memanfaatkan jaringan lokal. Basis data rekam medis pasien berupa data dummy dapat diakses digunakan sebagai acuan penanganan pasien yang tepat.

Oleh karena itu penulis melakukan penelitian mengenai analisis penggunaan aplikasi video conference dengan melihat kebutuhan bandwidth dari aplikasi video conference Zoom untuk membantu dalam mengetahui kualitas suatu layanan video conference menggunakan parameter QoS dengan menggunakan provider Telkomsel dan XL Axiata. Hasil dari penelitian yang didapatkan yaitu kualitas layanan video conference berdasarkan parameter QoS pada provider Telkomsel terbilang cukup dengan indeks 2, sedangkan pada XL Axiata terbilang Baik dengan indeks 3 walaupun trafik jaringan kurang stabil. Dengan data upload yang tinggi pada provider Telkomsel pada siang hari dengan angka 4,86 Mbps, XL Axiata pada siang hari dengan angka 16,29 Mbps, dan data download yang tinggi pada provider Telkomsel pada pagi hari dengan angka 14,87 Mbps, XL Axiata pada siang hari dengan angka 16,03 Mbps. Dan biaya yang dibutuhkan pada provider Telkomsel sebesar Rp.2.127,216 atau sekitar 779,2 kbps, pada XL Axiata sebesar Rp. 5.143,872 atau sekitar 1761,6 kbps.

Kualitas jaringan merupakan suatu faktor penentu kenyamanan pengguna dalam melakukan aktivitas jaringan komputer. Pada suatu jaringan komputer diperlukan suatu pengaturan bandwidth agar tidak terjadi monopoli penggunaan bandwidth. Manajemen bandwidth dapat dilakukan menggunakan mikrotik routerboard RB941-2nd dengan aplikasi pengaturan mikrotik menggunakan WinBox. Implementasi manajemen bandwidth menggunakan metode PCQ (Per Connection Queue) dengan teknik antrian simple queue dan queue tree. Untuk mengamati performansi kualitas jaringan menggunakan Network Analyzer Wireshark pada saat masing-masing PC melakukan video conference. Hasil implementasi manajemen bandwidth ini mampu diterapkan dengan baik pada kedua teknik antrian dan memiliki nilai yang baik pada masing-masing parameter jaringan. Maka dari hasil keempat nilai parameter jaringan, didapatkan nilai yang paling baik menurut kategori TIPHON dengan indeks 4 (Sangat Bagus) adalah pada teknik antrian Queue Tree yaitu dengan hasil rata-rata Packet Loss pada video conference Google Meet sebesar 0,38962857% dan pada Zoom sebesar 1,021288%. Hasil rata-rata Delay pada video conference Zoom sebesar 1,389343 ms dan pada Google Meet sebesar 1,860071 ms. Hasil rata-rata Jitter pada video conference Google Meet sebesar 1,50059 x 10-21 ms dan pada Zoom sebesar 3,0065 x 10-21.Hasil rata-rata Throughput pada video conference Zoom sebesar 22,64215 Mbps dan pada Google Meet sebesar 12,94397 Mbps. Lamanya durasi, jenis teknik antrian, jenis video conference, dan kualitas jaringan juga mempengaruhi hasil dari QoS (Quality of Service).

Our office manages videoconference and TelePresence technology for George Mason University as well as several options for desktop conferencing that are interoperable with our room systems. Currently we are using these different technologies as a means for teaching courses collaboratively with other universities both nationally and internationally, for students who are located across the different Mason campuses, for faculty who are living abroad, and research collaboration with external entities. CVT would like to host a compact session and participate in the poster session. We would explain the technology, how it is being used at Mason to advance opportunities for our faculty and students and have a faculty member present to discuss their experience. This technology is an excellent tool in Mason’s mission to be a “university for the world.” Our technology affords the faculty and students a creative solution to connect with institutions and organizations on a global level and collaborate in ways they were not previously able to.
