Abstract:
In the event of breaking news, a wealth of crowd-sourced data, in the form of text, video and image, becomesavailable on the Social Web. In order to incorporate this data into a news story, the journalist mustprocess, compile and verify content within a very short timespan. Currently this is done manually andis a time-consuming and labour-intensive process for media organisations. This paper proposes SocialSemantic Journalism as a solution to help those journalists and editors. Semantic metadata, natural languageprocessing (NLP) and other technologies will provide the framework for Social Semantic Journalismto help journalists navigate the overwhelming amount of UGC for detecting known and unknown newsevents, verifying information and its sources, identifying eyewitnesses and contextualising the event andnews coverage journalists will be able to bring their professional expertise to this increasingly overwhelminginformation environment. This paper describes a framework of technologies that can be employed byjournalists and editors to realise Social Semantic Journalism.

Abstract:
Citizen journalism in television in Indonesia has flourished in the past decade, with two national commercial companies broadcasting citizen programme on occasion and three stations engaging in ongoing citizen journalism initiatives. This article uses a case study of Indonesia’s NET Citizen Journalist (NET CJ) programme to study perspectives of citizen journalists about the impact of citizen journalism in television on themselves and their society. Surveys and interviews with active CJ members indicated that collaboration between citizen journalists and television networks democratizes information by allowing a wider range of people to share information and perspectives, and drives positive changes in citizen’s surroundings and self-development in terms of knowledge and skills in news video production. However, potential negative side-effects are the high risk of being sued by injured parties and dissatisfaction about limited opportunities to have community videos broadcast on television.

Abstract:
News organizations are turning increasingly to video journalism as survival strategy in the era of convergence. Video journalism, the process by which one person shoots, writes, and edits video stories, represents both a socially and materially constructed form of news and adds a new dimension to daily work practices. This qualitative project examines the daily work practices of video journalists in a variety of organizational settings, including newspapers and television stations. This project found that the material requirements of video journalism have the potential to shift control of some aspects of news narrative away from journalists and toward their sources.

Abstract:
The digital and open data era has given rise to the development of methods in data journalism to create an in-depth or investigative news report. The widespread use of social media, dominated by the Y and Z generations, has also encouraged journalists to present the story in attractive formats. As one of the digital media in Indonesia, Narasi TV has data-based long-form stories called Buka Mata, presented in video forms and published through various social media. This research aims to answer the question, “How does Narasi TV produce the data journalism videos in Buka Mata?” to describe Narasi TV’s data journalism practices. This study uses a constructivist paradigm, a qualitative approach, and the case study method; and refers to the data journalism concept from The Data Journalism Handbook in 2012 to solve the research question. The findings show that Narasi TV has implemented data journalism practices such as gathering, verifying, analyzing, and visualizing data in producing Buka Mata. Furthermore, Narasi TV also uses an open-source intelligence (OSINT) method to create its investigative news videos.

Abstract:
In visual journalism, the adoption of new technologies often leads to renegotiation of normative boundaries, and the case of 360° video is no exception. Two normative paradoxes emerge in journalists’ attempts to deploy 360° video to provide emotionally engaging and factually relevant content. The first paradox is that the 360° view is considered to provide a more accurate representation of events, but the viewer’s freedom to choose the field of view can lead to a less accurate picture of the story. The second paradox is that, by manipulating authentic imagery in the pursuit of more accurate and objective reporting, journalists compromise on traditional notions of accuracy and objectivity. These paradoxes push visual journalism away from the “as is” and toward the “as if,” detaching visual journalism from its naturalistic claims. This leads to increasingly blurred boundaries between journalism and other communication practices such as advertising and propaganda.

The article deals with the current state of game journalism, i.e. journalism related to video games. The author of the article discusses how game journalism uses various channels and platforms to communicate with the audience and provide its own content. The main part of the article analyzes the peculiarities of the review genre in video game journalism. Analyzing the scientific literature, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that the genre of review in game journalism does not correspond to the genre with the same name in traditional media. It is argued that despite the rigid framework of the game industry, which assigns journalists primarily advertising functions, some of the reviewers seek to act primarily in the interests of game users, gamers. The review genre is analyzed on the materials of the rubrics of the game Internet portal “StopGame.ru”.

Abstract:
In recent years, with the rapid expansion of the integrated media and the wide-scale popularization of the mobile network, the short video technology and its applications have been hogging the limelight. To keep pace with the development of online news tendencies, the mainstream media has started entering into many short video platforms. To a certain extent, the mainstream media short video news is an important product of the internet and the digital media era. The short video has today become an emerging communication mode shared in real-time on the social platforms, which could integrate text, dubbing, video, and other elements to achieve the purpose of information transmission, while meeting the perception needs of the users through more intuitive and three-dimensional communication. Short videos cater to the fragmented reading habits of the public within a short time to achieve comprehensive transmission of communication content under the premise of excellence. This paper endeavors to analyze the characteristics of short video news in the era of rapid development of the new media by considering the short video news released by the official Tik Tok account of Xinhua News Agency as an example. The language of short video news is different from that of the traditional mainstream media news, whereas, the influence of the combination of official media news and the current hot short video transmission has been discussed. The transmission power of official media news could be optimized and improved through the use of short news videos.

Abstract:
Journalism has gradually become ‘normalized into social media’, and most journalists use social media platforms to publish their work (Bruns, 2018). YouTube is an influential social media platform, reaching over a billion users worldwide. Its extensive reach attracts professional and amateur video producers who turn to YouTube to inform, entertain and engage global publics. Focusing on YouTube, this study explores the place for journalism within this media ecology. This study uses a mixed-method approach to examine forms of audience engagement to YouTube videos about antimicrobial resistance (AMR), or so called “superbugs”, caused by overuse and misuse of antibiotics. The analysis focuses on the most viewed YouTube videos about AMR between 2016 and 2018, and compares engagement themes expressed in comments to journalistic videos with popular science videos. The most viewed videos about AMR on YouTube are professionally produced educational popular science videos. The qualitative analysis of 3,049 comments identifies seven main forms of high-level engagement, including expressions of emotions, blame and calls for action. This study shows that journalism plays an important role on YouTube by generating audience discussions about social and political accountability. Our findings demonstrate that journalism videos were associated with propositions for political, economic and social/lifestyle actions, while popular science videos were associated with medicines, scientific or pseudo-scientific, and medical practice changes.

Abstract:
Video has become a key component for multi-media newspaper websites. Working with video is often a new skill for print-based journalists, who previously may have considered it the province of television news organizations. Institutional convention has held up television news as a foil to still images and the printed word, a dualism that has fostered hierarchal thinking about video and its normative role in journalism. Such hierarchal thinking, or what Pierre Bourdieu discussed in terms of distinction, is often reflected in institutional, automatic, unconscious daily practices. This study looks through Bourdieu’s lens at a set of observational and interview data to describe the way journalists in newspaper organizations are adopting video for presenting news. The study finds that newspaper journalists, both writers and still photojournalists, are responding in ways that allow them to claim a distinct form of multi-media presentation, thereby sustaining their place in the traditional journalistic hierarchy.

Abstract:
Changes in the scientific discourse regarding the definition of the concept of “immersive journalism” are considered and the main stages of the critical understanding of the phenomenon are identified. The role of the technological factor as a concept-forming element of VR-communication is studied. 360 ° videos, published on the official YouTube channels of the 1 + 1 television company and Radio Liberty Ukraine in 2015-2019, were studied using the Witmer-Singer methodology. The four groups of factors were identified that ensure the presence in a virtual environment. Several video formats were analyzed: news stories, social advertising, special projects, video broadcasts, multimedia projects, among which there is both event and author’s content. It was determined that factors constantly affect each other, influencing also the main components of the VR effect – presence, involvement and immersion. Videos claiming maximum efficiency should rely on sensory and distraction factors, since the immersive complex “presence + involvement + inclusion” depends on them. In the analyzed texts, the hierarchy of factors is as follows: in the first place are the distraction factors (which makes sense), but the second place is taken by the realism factors despite the format of the text. It is emphasized that realism should come to the fore, if immersive technologies are used in creating news stories and the user is not able to control the composition. In this case, the presence is formed through the immersion in the story. Author’s journalistic texts are created using the methods that allow users to influence the course of the story, propose their own chronotope and create different levels of emotional immersion through, for example, maximum involvement. World practice proves the effectiveness of this principle, but Ukrainian journalists do not use it. Sensory and control factors are usually overlooked, the attention is usually paid to the sensory modality and the anticipation of an action, which are integral elements of journalistic videos.

Abstract:
According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications, as of December 2022, the whole country has 127 news agencies; 670 journal agencies (there are 327 journals of political theory and science, 72 journals of literature and art); 72 radio and television agencies. Personnel operating in the field of journalism are about 41,000 people, of which the radio and television sector is approximately 16,500 people. Compared with 2021, personnel is relatively stable and the number of personnel granted journalist cards increases significantly. There have been 19,356 cases of being granted journalist cards. It is easy for the public to check the names of long-term online newspapers and major readers such as “VnExpress,” “Dan Tri,” “Vietnamplus,” “VietNamNet,” etc. The emergence of multimedia journalism is an important step towards shaping the new type of digital storytelling and the future of journalism. In the process of renovation, the Vietnamese press is also gradually transforming and approaching new media products (Long-form/E-Magazine/Megastory) that show long, in-depth stories and multi-purpose writing, photos, audio, video, photographers, etc. According to “Vietnamplus” – a press agency leading this trend, when you first bring this type of work to the public, it is unexpected that these works are received more strongly than other types of media. We use questionnaires to build public perceptions and observations as journalists working for five major online newspapers in Vietnam. The data is taken from in-depth interviews with journalists, editors, editorial staff, and editors-in-chief of five major online newspapers in Vietnam. We choose the sample according to the sampling method of the case. In the context of social media, Vietnam’s online newspapers have developed and changed significantly. These findings will enrich and have a typical impact by clarifying two main contradictions that exist in Vietnam’s online newspapers. Those are conflicts between news products, regular articles and media products, e-magazines, megastory and conflicts in organizations producing online newspapers. From there, the article looks at how Vietnam’s online newspaper is going to grow, how it uses visual reporting, and how excited journalists and press managers are about it.

The proliferation of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets with powerful audio-video features, image and video editing apps, and powerful sharing tools has served as catalyst for the deployment of mobile devices in both journalism education and practice around the world. A survey of mass communication students has revealed strong passion for mobile journalism as a professional career path. Respondents noted that mobile devices loaded with relevant apps carry an advantage over traditional cameras in terms of enabling video editing, mobility, and sharing when compared to standard cameras. The writers argue that mobile devices hold a huge promise for both journalism teaching and practice because of their ubiquity, mobility, multifunctionality, networkability, and professional output. On the other hand, the writers see some challenges in this area when it comes to public perceptions of professional journalism as based on ‘professionally-oriented' rather than ‘consumer-oriented' production gear and slow software enhancement by both device makers and app developers.

Abstract:
Audiovisual content is highly employed in modern education curricula. This study aimed to identify students’ perceptions regarding the use of video in the courses they attend. Quantitative research was conducted among students of journalism and communication studies. Four courses were used for this study that employ video-based and video-assisted teaching strategies for active learning. Students used videos in different educational settings for flipped learning, blended learning, and autonomous self-paced learning. Their perceptions were examined through an extended form of the Technology Acceptance Model, encompassing more parameters (such as self-efficacy, perceived enjoyment, satisfaction, attitude, and intention of use) to identify causal relationships. In addition, the roles of technical parameters, such as internet connection, audio quality, and video quality, along with the duration of a video, were explored. The findings reveal students’ positive attitudes towards videos, and all factors were significantly related to the intention of use. In addition, the technical aspects of the video did not constitute a problem in the educational process, most likely due to contemporary quality in internet connections and audiovisual productions along with playback equipment. The duration of the videos was also not presented as an issue as there are flexible ways to embed videos in the learning process. Overall, videos can be used in multiple active learning scenarios to enhance students’ motivation and engagement and provide a joyful, collaborative, and hospitable learning environment. Students are familiar with digital tools and technologies and seem to enjoy audiovisual material in the learning process.

Abstract:
At a time when TV and online journalism embraces more moving images filmed from drones than ever before, this article seeks to explore the thoughts and actions of those who produce them. It builds on earlier research into how aerial images impact on the viewer through the lens of ‘quality journalism’ (Adams, 2018). It investigates how drone operators are involved in the journalistic process, what meanings and effects they seek and who controls their work in a market-driven environment. Qualitative analysis was carried out of seventeen in-depth interviews with drone operators, journalists and editors working in UK and around the world. Data revealed a high degree of creative freedom among the operators, a passion for using drones and some desire to immerse and impress the viewer. It showed that aerial images have become paramount in video journalism amid market pressures to find ever more sophisticated and ‘cinematic’ shots. Interviewees felt drones had been “good for journalism,” by providing raw data, exciting new perspectives, context and story-telling techniques and “space to think.” The article explores the significant yet often unplanned contribution to the journalistic process of the drone operator and recommends more is done to increase understanding between journalist and pilot, such as providing training courses designed to teach quality drone journalism, as the media approaches ‘peak drone.’

More and more people prefer to watch the news rather than read it. The same applies to journalism. The genre of a video article in which the author complements the material with audiovisual content is easier to perceive, since it uses several channels of perception and does not require active actions from the audience, such as paging scrolling through pages or scrolling the screen. The article will consider the main directions of literary journalism in the vastness of Russianlanguage YouTube.

Journalism nowadays is more challenging than ever before. The questions raised here are essential for the future of journalism and all those who believe that journalism matters.News is defined as how power flows through media organizations, influencing what journalists choose to present to their audiences and how they present it and then, in turn, what their audiences do with it. The digital age changes many journalism events, showing us that the text could even be written by artificial intelligence. Several challenges are critical. The digital era moves media companies from positions where they were gatekeepers and creators of the news agenda to platforms where companies control audiences. Social media and platforms allow audiences to collect information from many sources. Unfortunately, to live in an era of fake news and a crowd of information, at the same time, means to losing the war for journalism, and in the worstcase, losing public trust. On the other side, the business model of media organizations weakens professional journalism, as it is faced with commercial and political pressure resulting in more diverse news than ever. The shifts in news consumption are even more pronounced if one looks at the age of news consumers. There is a massive generation gap, with young people far more likely to seek information on digital platforms and older people more reliant on traditional media.Simultaneously, it is morecostly to produce news for traditional media outlets that send reporters to news hot spots worldwide, take time for in-depth reporting projects and hire more expensive and experienced journalists. So, even, the so called, old media, if they want to survive, they must turn to multimedia So, the new era, demands new skills. A journalist needs to know how to write a story. News programs are so interesting because they have a form of storytelling, a vital technique for every period. However, nowadays, more important is to visualize and put the text about a video. Also, todays journalists are 24/7 online, and they produce news rapidly, first on the website then maybe on Twitter (old name for X) and other social media channels. Therefore, multimedia journalism is about more than multimedia. In spite of all new technologies, one thing will be always, more important.Onecan not be a good journalist if he/she is not curious. With all of the available tools, journalists need to understand how to use them technically and comprehend how each multimedia format can best be used for storytelling.

Online newspaper - the fourth type of journalism has brought a drastic change in the process of transmitting and receiving information. This type of press is a combination of the advantages of the three previous types of journalism: print, radio and television. Therefore, online newspaper owns a young audience that is considered the largest that no other type of journalism has until now. That attraction is thanks to Video - one of the factors that make up the multimedia language.

Abstract:
The scientific work considers citizen journalism as a modern phenomenon of the multimedia space of Ukraine, modern trends in the development of citizen journalism during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The study highlights the main features of this type of journalism, which is actively developing in social networks and other Internet platforms. The main ones include speed and mobility, ease of publication and submission of material, large audience coverage, immediate feedback and the possibility of live communication, crowdsourcing and diversity of viewpoints, activism and promotion. The object of the research is the modern Ukrainian media discourse during the war. Ukrainian news reports and analytics created by public journalists during the Russian-Ukrainian war served as material for the analysis. During the Russian-Ukrainian war, a citizen journalist becomes available to the general public of Ukraine, both amateur and professional. The blog has become a tool for the development and unstoppable growth of the influence of citizen journalism on the formation of public opinion, by providing information from the first sources, efficiency and mobility, ease of submitting material and its perception, a large audience of coverage and interactivity, crowdsourcing and diversity of points of view. The appearance of video materials and text messages of leading bloggers of Ukraine in the columns of world publications and in the TV programs of leading companies in the world indicates the rapid growth and strengthening of trust in this type of journalism. We see the prospects for further research in the analysis of new trends in the development of citizen journalism, the emergence of new features and even genres, convergence of formats of traditional mass media and social platform blogs.

Abstract: This research entitled "The Role of Citizen Journalism in Palu Disaster Reporting on CNN Indonesia". Natural disasters that took place in Palu, Central Sulawesi, became a sorrow for Indonesia. This disaster has completed the settlement and eliminated the lives of our brothers. Documentation that spreads in online media results from spontaneous recording of victims. The emergence of the phenomenon of citizen journalism in disaster news has become commonplace in Indonesia. The rapid development of citizen journalism took place in 2004 a tsunami compilation in Aceh which was covered by the victims themselves. Direct news from victims can beat the news made by professional journalists. In fact, videos made by residents when the event was aired by all television stations. The video was recorded by Cut Putri, regarding the seconds of the December 26, 2004 Tsunami compilation, and is considered an important milestone in the development of citizen journalism in Indonesia. Citizen Journalism in Palu, Central Sulawesi. By using a qualitative descriptive method, namely by analyzing the contents of the news contained on the CNN Indonesia Youtube channel where ordinary citizens participate in it. Using Holsti's analysis theory which analyzes data to answer the statement "what, for whom, and how and draw conclusions." The results of the study show that citizen journalism contributes to the value of the news presented in the news. By discussing and discussing what happened during the disaster. However, the quality of recordings from amateurs is not very good, in this case online news media still uses amateur citizen recordings to be published to viewers as supporting data from data approved by professionals. In conditions like this, online news media, especially CNN Indonesia, prioritize more than quality. Keywords: Role, citizen journalism, online journalism, disaster news

Abstract:
The research relevance is defined by the mission of cultural journalism that is clearly aware of the changes in society’s values and historical topics, modern narratives of Ukrainian culture, language, and history both for the domestic consumer and abroad. The research subject is the audiovisual content of the Ukrainian media space, which is represented by a community of media professionals, amateurs, and video bloggers. This is due to the simplification of video production technologies and the availability of communication platforms for the distribution of audiovisual content. The aim of the research is to consider the impact of cultural journalism in the form of audiovisual content on the processes of creating national identity and self-awareness of Ukrainians during the war. The methods of content analysis, cultural and semantic analysis were used to achieve the goal. As a result of the research, the special role of wartime cultural journalism in the process of creating national identity was proved. It should also be taken into account that long-term research into the nature of an audiovisual work has proven the power of its influence on the processes of forming values and the worldview of a mass audience, however, this segment of the media space is not used enough in cultural journalism today. The majority of audiovisual content in the media today consists of conversational informational and analytical formats like video blogs of experts, analysts, and opinion leaders on relevant wartime topics. Many young Ukrainian YouTube amateurs create and promote such content very actively. At the same time, the creation and distribution of similar projects by professional media have a non-systematic nature, often a convergent form. On the one hand, the simplification of video production technologies and the availability of communication platforms led to the explosion and distribution of amateur audiovisual content on the topics of Ukrainian culture and history. On the other hand, insufficient attention of journalists and editors of Ukrainian media to audiovisual journalistic works of artistic and journalistic genres on the relevant subject is observed. Hybridization takes the place of genres into situational formats and the rapid development of cultural journalism and video blogging covering the topics of Ukrainian culture and history. The specified processes testify to the effectiveness of the factors of national identity creation in the media space today and outline the perspective of research on the specified problem.

Abstract:
Abstract Public service, ethics, objectivity, autonomy and immediacy are still often considered the core values of professional journalism. However, photojournalistic work has confronted historic changes since the advent of digitalization in the late 1980s. Professional photo-journalists have been caught manipulating news images, video production has become a major part of news photographers’ work, and newspapers freely publish photographs and videos taken by the general public. The present article examines how news photographers negotiate these changes in photo-journalistic work practices, and how they define their professional ambitions in the digital age. Photojournalists’ articulations of professionalism are approached in relation to three digital innovations in photojournalism: digital photo editing, video production and user-generated images in newspapers. The empirical data consist of an online survey of and interviews with photojournalists in Finland. In the final analysis, it is suggested that the core ideals of photojournalism have to be renegotiated, because the work environment has changed drastically.

Abstract:
Subscription-based news platforms (such as “Apple News+” or “Readly”) that bundle content from different publishers into one comprehensive package and offer it to media users at a fixed monthly rate are a new way of accessing and consuming digital journalism. These services have received little attention in journalism studies, although they differ greatly from traditional media products and distribution channels. This article empirically investigates the perception of journalism platforms based on eight qualitative focus group discussions with 55 German news consumers. Results show that the central characteristics these platforms should fulfill in order to attract users are strikingly similar to the characteristics of media platforms from the music and video industries, in particular regarding price points, contract features, and modes of usage. Against this background, the potential and perspectives of a subscription-based news platform for journalism’s societal role are discussed.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the use of serious games for training in the specialty 061 Journalism. Serious games are viewed as information and communication technologies for training journalists. Well-known serious games of journalistic direction are analyzed. The role of serious games in the courses «Internet Journalism», «Blogging», «International Journalism», «Fact-Checking», «Art Journalism», etc. is determined. The project of a serious game «J-chess» for journalists using the universal modeling language (UML) is described. It identified the benefits of serious games for learning journalists: work the principles of active- and problem-based learning, a pleasant and deep immersion in professional issues and educational topics. Serious games are also a basis for strengthening the interdisciplinary links between mandatory and selective disciplines of journalists’ professional training. The content and principles of serious games contribute to reaching learning outcomes defined in the Higher Education Standard in journalism. It confirmed this by the four-year results of students' surveys. Problematic issues for the practice of serious games in the educational process are shown: digital inequality, availability of video games, lack of integration of serious games with electronic learning systems, students’ readiness to play, the didactic impact of the game, and ethical dilemmas. Emphasis is placed on the need to create methodological aids for serious games, determine their role and place in the discipline’s structure, formulate the principles and algorithms for pedagogical support of serious games. Solving these problems will promote the academic and practical training of future journalists through serious games, intensify the development of serious games, bring together the gaming industry and education. Integrating serious games with online learning will be the basis for trans-media learning. And this will increase the quality of education and the level of satisfaction of graduates and stakeholders.

AbstractNigerian video films are often characterised as apolitical. A rare and significant exception is Gbenga Adewusi's Maradona (also known as Babangida Must Go), which was released in 1993 in response to the annulment of the 12 June 1993 presidential election by the military ruler Ibrahim Babangida. The film is a fierce denunciation of the annulment and of the whole political regime, employing a number of Yoruba and transnational cultural forms: the chanted poetic form ewi, skits by artists from the Yoruba travelling theatre tradition, the televisual forms of music videos, news broadcasting and call-in shows, and the resources of print journalism. This film demonstrates the political potential of the video film, but also the limitations of the video distribution system.

Abstract:
This article explores how emotional attachment and a sense of morality often drive journalists to produce great work in areas of conflict, particularly those solo video journalists who produce long format current affairs. But it also questions if a sense of engagement can impede journalist’s ability to report objectively? And how relevant is this ideal today? Former BBC war correspondent Martin Bell changed his view on objectivity after covering the Balkans War. He advocated for a journalism of attachment especially in war zones and amid human suffering. There are some Australian video journalists whose sense of engagement has defined outstanding bodies of work. However, some practices in the field often defy concepts of impartiality. Issues of, if, or when, to put down the camera and give assistance; or how to remain fair and honest to the story while gaining the long term trust of sources, sometimes challenges journalists.

In the aftermath of the South Asian tsunami of 26 December 2004, the term ‘citizen journalism’ swiftly gained currency with global news organisations finding themselves in the difficult position of being largely dependent on ‘amateur’ photographs, video footage and eyewitness accounts to tell the story of what was transpiring on the ground in the most severely affected areas. Despite its ambiguities, the term was widely perceived to capture the countervailing ethos of the ordinary person’s capacity to contribute to professional news coverage, thereby providing commentators with a useful label to characterise an ostensibly new genre of user-generated content.

Abstract:
User-generated content has become a valuable journalistic tool for news coverage and production. This convergence of new and old media, however, poses several challenges to established news organisations. Social media sites produce a wealth of data in the form of text, images and video that must be processed, compiled and verified within a very short timespan before being incorporated into a news story. This unstructured data that lies scattered across the web can be formalised and organised into a ‘web of data’ by Semantic Web technologies. Specifically, Semantic Web technologies have the potential to formalise and integrate artifacts produced and shared across the Social Web. Social Semantic Journalism proposes the utilisation of Semantic Web technologies, and specifically Social Semantic Web ontologies such as FOAF and SIOC, in the process of news production. This potentially provides a journalistic tool to assist in finding, aggregating and verifying user-generated content for news production.

Abstract:
As media technology advances, and with increasingly rapid development, there has been an unprecedented growth in the number of new media platforms emerging in China—and throughout the world—that are changing the procedures of how news is assembled and disseminated by effectively and efficiently adopting user-generated content that has injected new blood into the very nature of journalism. While essentially this is encouraging the productive use of social media platforms, it is also having an impact on users, transforming vast numbers into what are now recognized as “netizen journalists.” This leads us to inquire just how the journalistic outputs of short video platforms of such media outfits like Pear Video and Kwai are framed and also to explore how the roles of the “ordinary” users of such platforms are now defined by their participation in the actual production of news and information. This research aims to contribute to the many discussions on the above questions based on the journalistic study on three different news platforms: Xinhua News Agency’ as adopted and adapted content from Kwai, Kwai Insight, and Pear Video.

Abstract:
The article is about the using of cultural anthropology methods at journalism. The conventional scholarly understanding of the methods at cultural anthropology has remained largely unchanged since the days of Franz Boas and Bronislaw Malinowski. They are the founders of cultural/social anthropology. The basis of the field method is observation and interviewing. The methods were improved. The introduction of audio and video recording in field research caused revolutionary changes in the application of the method. Both observations and interviews have many varieties, as those who are “in the field” know well. It would seem that the proximity of the approaches used by cultural (social) anthropology and journalism is obvious. However, this kind of formulation of the question is not widespread in the domestic scientific discourse, and, therefore, it is relevant. The article is about the latest research and publications related to the contribution of cultural anthropology to the field of media science and aims to posing a problem regarding the application of cultural anthropology methods in journalism. The article examines the approaches to this issue available in the scientific literature devoted to social communications. the article also examines individual examples of the use of anthropological methods in journalism. The latter provides an opportunity to prospectively analyze individual materials of the Ukrainian media space from the point of view of the application of anthropological methods. In particular, the article discusses the contributions of Elizabeth Bird, beginning with an exploration of anthropological methodology in journalism. In this early work, the author emphasizes that an anthropological perspective changes the relationship between the researcher and the studied and wonders how this might change journalism. If the first exploration is devoted to how the anthropological approach can help the journalist in his work, then the collection of essays edited by E. Bird “The anthropology of news & journalism: global perspectives” in 2010 mainly emphasizes the study of the media using the methods of cultural anthropology. Anne Kirstine Hermann raises the question of the importance of anthropological methods in journalism in connection with multiculturalism. The author claims that multiculturalism creates serious challenges for the press, and media development trends require greater knowledge of the context. this leads to the emergence of anthropological (ethnographic) journalism within the limits of American artistic journalism. Janet Cramer and Michael McDevitt write in detail about the variability of traditional journalism in connection with the involvement of anthropological methods. Finally, the article presents examples of how journalists used the methods of cultural anthropology. One of the examples is about the works of O. Yaremchuk: it is about a cycle of literary reports by Joseph Roth, a correspondent of the German newspaper “Frankfurter Zeitung” in 1925 “In Noon France”. A second example concerns the Sidewalk Standoff project conducted by students studying journalism at Stanford University.

Abstract:
Multimedia on a newspaper platform is the use of many different media to present content in articles, including the integration of text, images, audio, video, and various interactive elements to create a holistic experience for readers. The genre of “biographical articles” integrated into multimedia, has developed in all dimensions of capacity, imagery, and connection, forming a broad genre known as a mega-story. In the context of the 4.0 technology revolution and mass communication, journalistic works are no longer merely linguistic. The integration of multimedia technology platforms helps journalistic works become impressive and unique.

Abstract:
This essay engages with the question of surveillance and evidence by considering the use of media forensics in journalistic storytelling. The use of video evidence and other data derived from surveillance systems to assemble investigative news results in a documentary form of what Thomas Levin (2002) calls surveillant narration—a tendency in cinema to treat surveillance thematically while at the same time incorporating it into the structure of the narration itself. If using surveillance as the structure of journalistic narration seems like a natural fit, it is for its aesthetic effect as much as its evidentiary value. Forensic journalism is emerging as one site where media forensics becomes formalized as a product of popular consumption and sense-making, taking its place alongside forensic-themed reality television and fictional crime dramas like CSI, as much as real forensic investigations and legal proceedings.
