Abstract:

Abstract:
The digital era has perpetuated new pedagogies of collective participation in networks that requires reflection in the conventional education area, because of YouTube, as audiovisual platform of outstanding international recognition, concentrates an extensive repertoire of informal learning practices among young people. In this case, the research focuses on a form of literary expression driven by the new Booktube community, which is dedicated to the recommendation of books and the promotion of reading by focusing their messages through the videoblog format. This aspect, closely popularized in the platform, allow us to deepen new youth practices outside classroom that refer to the promotion of books and critical and judicious expression on aspects related to content, formats, genres and authors in a context supported by the media ecology. In order to deepen the reasons why youth reads currently, we developed a literature review starting with the transmedia literacy concept evaluating narrative and aesthetic competences and applying a content analysis and a case study that collects channels of two Spanish booktubers with high impact and community: Javier Ruescas and Fly like a Butterfly. Results discern an affinity space linked to the opinion of peers that promotes reading and writing, and the ability to interpret, describe, compare and reflect about the literary context.

"Remarks on lexical adaptation of loanwords in the Slovak language (based on the blog nomination family)." Journal of Linguistics/Jazykovedný casopis 72, no. 3 (December 1, 2021): 769–86. http://dx.doi.org/10.2478/jazcas-2022-0003.

Abstract:
Abstract The case study concentrates on a lexical adaptation of the nouns weblog and blog in the Slovak language. The processes of borrowing and subsequent adaptation are analysed in accordance with the theory of lexical motivation (TLM). Lexical adaptation represents a process on the basis of which a loanword is incorporated into the system of the borrowing language (L2), i.e. serving as an underlying, motivating word for coining new lexemes, and thus generates a nomination family (nomination nest). The concept of the nomination family is based on the understanding of the term word-formation nest, commonly used in derivatology. The nomination family is a cluster of all lexemes (single-word, or multi-word expressions), which are grouped around the initial, underlying, motivating loanword on the basis of formal and semantical relationships. The nomination family of the loanwords weblog and blog is substantial, and includes more than 200 entries. Both initial lexemes (weblog, blog) are taken from English (using the terminology of TLM, the concept of interlingual motivation is employed) while the nomination relationship – abbreviation (weblog → blog) has been transferred from L1 to L2. The word blog is thus polymotivated, its formation can be viewed in a twofold way: (a) as a loanword it has been borrowed from L1 (interlingual motivation), (b) as an abbreviation it has been formed from weblog (abbreviation motivation). A number of entries have been taken over and integrated at the same time (e.g. bloger, bloging, foodblog, foodbloging etc.) into the blog nomination family in the Slovak language. The impact of word-formation is extraordinarily evident in the formation from the word blog, cf. words denoting male and female persons (bloger, blogerka), adjectives (blogový, blogerský), verbs (blogovať), and notably compounds and their derivatives (videoblog, videoblogový, videoblogovať, videobloger, foodblog, foodbloger, foodblogerka, mikroblog, mikroblogovať, mikroblogový, etc.). Even though almost half of derivatives can be classified as nonce-formations, this kind of word-formation manifests a huge potentiality of word-formation motivation in the Slovak language. Moreover, a significant place in the blog nomination family is held by multiword expressions such as politický blog ‚political blog‘, cestovateľský blog ‚travel blog‘. In addition, competition between multi-word expressions and semantically identical compounds (technologický blog – techblog) is rare. A complex notion to be denominated is predominantly expressed either by means of a multi-word expression (finančný blog ‚financial blog‘, knižný blog ‚book blog‘), or a compound (foodblog, mikroblog).

Abstract:
The subject of this article research is the possibility of using video materials published on the Internet when teaching Russian. The authors pay attention to the fact that in the methodological literature there is a lot of experience with video when learning a foreign language, however, the use of these teaching materials in Russian language lessons is not systematic. The main objective of the teacher in working with video technologies is formulated in the article and it is a control of video perception. It is noted the great role of audiovisual training tools, not only for the formation of auditory competence, but also for the formation of cognitive and communicative ones. The authors of the article give practical recommendations on the integration of video lectures in the educational process at different stages of studying the educational material, including from the age features of schoolchildren on the example of two thematic projects "Videoblog on the subjects of the natural science cycle. Russian Language "and" Language is the Soul of the People ". In particular, authors note that it is advisable to offer video content for work to students who have developed basic skills of independent work. In the opinion of the authors, the use of video lessons at the stage of repetition and generalization of the studied material is especially effective. The article also demonstrates the possibility of using video lectures not only for working with school students in Russian language lessons, elective courses for choice and for holding class hours, but also for students of colleges and universities. The authors offer reproductive, analytical, searching and creative tasks for working with video content, which allow you to diversify the forms of work with students.

Abstract:
The subject of the paper is valuation statements present in videoblog discourse. The material is based on audiovisual recordings broadcast on the “Stanowo” channel. The aim of the analysis is to explore the way in which judgements are expressed that relate crime seen as a sensitive aspect of social life. It has been shown that the author rarely uses messages marked axiologically in her material. Her priority is to present facts accurately rather than to make judgements. Statements involving valuation of facts do appear in her statements, especially in those in which the author manifests her emotional involvement in the story. This leads to a conclusion that there is a close relationship between expressiveness and valuing, as revealed in the material studied. Irony, contrasting and comparisons are the most common linguistic tool used by the author to express value judgements. The use on names is a metaphorical sense also plays an important role. Three pillars of the stories presented are assessed: the event itself and its circumstances, the victim and the perpetrator. It has been shown that valuation of the facts discussed has two objectives: the presentation of personal positions, which facilitates the creation of a kind of sender-receiver relationship, and the release of tension generated by the absorption of information about violent events. In the conclusion it has been stated that the way reality is valued by a popular video blogger may cause her axiological perspective to be adopted especially by young, morally unformed viewers. Therefore, it should be regarded as positive that the author does not deviate from generally accepted patterns of assessing the behaviour of victims and perpetrators. On the other hand, the style of the presented valuation statements can be assessed negatively – the author uses colloquial style, however, this form of language is out of keeping with the solemnity of the events under discussion.

Abstract:
Purpose Despite the increased interest in video methods and the role of visuality in organizations and management, the use of video in organizations has received scant attention. The purpose of this paper is to explore organizational videoblogs as a phenomenon, and discuss avenues that open up for qualitative research. The paper examines the affordances of organizational videoblogs in a strategy context by contrasting them with more conventional corporate videos, in order to discuss how spectacularization and social media style communication is influencing social practices in organizations. Design/methodology/approach First, this paper introduces the phenomenon of organizational videoblogging and its implications for research. Second, it engages in a theoretical discussion on videoblogs as a strategizing activity, through three different analytical lenses: strategic sensegiving, strategic self-branding and strategy as spectacle. Illustrative empirical examples are used to support the theoretical discussion. Findings The paper argues that organizational videoblogging is a phenomenon that changes social practices in organizations by injecting a visual, social media type communication. Organizational videoblogs emphasize authenticity and provide new affordances for sensegiving and self-branding in strategizing, but ultimately lead us to ask whether they risk turning strategizing into an infotainment-like spectacle. Originality/value The value of this paper lies in conceptualizing how and why organizational videoblogs can be studied in organizations. The paper provides future research with vocabulary and characteristics to distinguish different types of video in organizations.

Abstract:
The paper is devoted to the description of the results of a sociological research, which was conducted for the empirical verification of the hypothesis about the transformation of videoblogs into an alternative of mass media for representatives of Russian youth. An analysis of recent scientific literature in the area sociology of youth leads author to the conclusion that discussions about the transformation of video blogs into an actual analogue of traditional mass media for representatives of Russian youth have become quite common in current research practice. But at the same time the degree of substantiation of this idea remains not entirely clear: the inclination of young people to treat videoblogs as a substitute for traditional media is often described only speculatively and does not correlate with specific empirical data. Trying to take a step in overcoming this problem, the author uses the data of his own research, carried out in early 2020 on the basis of the Ural Federal University. The key conclusion of the author’s analysis is that it is somewhat premature to talk about videoblogs as a ready-made alternative to traditional media for young people. Although such services are popular among young people, they are perceived primarily as entertainment tools and only few see them as an important source of information.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to address the socialization processes of modern children and adolescents, in the context of the characteristics of the information society and the constant presence of the Internet in their lives. A new but emerging phenomenon is emerging, video blogging, which is part of Internet socialization. The main characteristic of this phenomenon is the potential opportunity that children and adolescents have to create an independent video blogging process, which affects the socialization process in general. The empirical data were collected using quantitative and qualitative sociological methods: survey and interview with children. The combination of these methods provides more complete information to understand the problem. The main result of this study is the evidence that around 30% of children and adolescents are not only viewers of videoblogs, they not only consume the information disseminated by this part of the global network, but also become independent authors of videoblogs. The study results reflect the fact that many children's authors try to imitate their favorite video bloggers. Young Internet users perceive the process of creating a video blog as a certain type of creativity.

Abstract:
YouTube-based discussions are a growing area of academic attention. However, we still lack knowledge on whether YouTube provides for forming critical publics in countries with no established democratic tradition. To address this question, we study commenting to Belarusian oppositional YouTube blogs in advance of the major wave of Belarusian post-election protests of 2020. Based on the crawled data of the whole year of 2018 for six Belarusian political videoblogs, we define the structure of the commenters’ community, detect the core commenters, and assess their discourse for aggression, orientation of dialogue, direction of criticism, and antagonism/agonism. We show that, on Belarusian YouTube, the commenters represented a genuine adversarial self-critical public with cumulative patterns of solidarity formation and find markers of readiness for the protest spillover.

Abstract:
Does the public expression and performance of shock, distress, anger, frustration and ideological disapproval of particular sorts of politics constitute a form of collective political expression from which individuals can learn about being citizens? When it comes to the expression of feelings of racial and other types of prejudice, has political correctness led to a deepening of entrenched racist beliefs with no channel for discussion? This article engages with such questions through a case study of YouTube responses to «My Tram Experience» a commuter-uploaded mobile-phone video of a racist diatribe on a tram in the UK. Using qualitative content analysis, and thematic analysis, it describes how these performed, networked and distributed moments of citizen angst demonstrate a limited but interesting range of civic engagements with and positionings towards racism, immigration, class and nationalism. For one reason or another these are not allowed to occur in other public for a such as the mainstream media or schools. The article argues that these vlogs are both a wide-ranging potentially therapeutic resource for those needing validation for their racist or anti-racist views, or for those who wish to express and garner solidarity for discomfort and pain caused by racism; they are also a significant though currently uncurated resource for citizenship education both formal and informal because of their engagements with technology, social context, emotional context and political rhetoric.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
A vlog or videoblog is a series of videos that feature someone speaking to the camera to present entertainment, reflection, opinion, or education. Collaborative vlogs (CVLs) involve multiple people taking joint ownership of a vlog through asynchronous interaction, discussion, and expression. This paper explores how online video helped create communities of practice both within the classroom and beyond through developing connections with each other that extended their interactions from the classroom to the Internet. Additionally, they creatively explored new ways to express themselves, developed their identities, and discussed pertinent topics regarding music, technology, and education. To explore the sociological vectors of culture and identity, I adapted a framework of aliveness within communities of practice developed by Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2002) to analyze seven semesters of student reflections on CVL projects in music courses that serviced music education majors, elementary education majors, and students from a variety of majors. Through CVLs, students have explored mediated musical practices and shared their lives and experiences in ways that classmates and instructors do not get to see when limited to the classroom. Students and vloggers alike deal with issues of trust within our digital society, and by critically analyzing how the participants in this study developed relationships with each other and me as their instructor, we can better understand how to move forward in the classroom and through social media, video broadcasting sites, and blogging. While the participants in this study were music students, CVLs can be applied to any discipline.

Abstract:
The new technologies of collaboration developed in Internet have led to a change in the relationship between mass media and its audiences. These tools of participation help the sources of information to become closer to the receivers and, in the other hand, facilitate the role interchanging between both agents in the communication process. The television, as mass media, has to be aware of this phenomenon and experiment with new models of participation with its viewers.
