Abstract:
This thesis deals with the concept of the Perfect Man in the thought of both Ibn 'Arabi (560/1165-638/1240) and Iqbal (1877-1938). The concepts of these two figures are analytically compared by way of their views of wujud, the evolutionary process of human being, qada' and qadar, and the classifications of the Perfect Man. In Ibn 'Arabi's system, these concepts are based on wahdah al-wujud and, in Iqbal's system, on his philosophy of Khudi. Although Iqbal criticized many aspects of Ibn 'Arabi's thought, this thesis will show that their concepts of the Perfect Man are quite similar, and that Iqbal was influenced in a number of important ways by Ibn 'Arabi.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to use the grounded theory method to discover the main concerns of midwives in relation to their practice with baby feeding, and to identify the processes that are involved in dealing with baby feeding in their day-to-day work. Data were generated from thirty in-depth interviews with midwives who worked in two maternity care Trusts in the North of England. Data were analysed using constant comparative techniques of the grounded theory method. A computer software program (Non-numerical Unstructured Data Indexing Searching and Theorising package) for qualitative data analysis was used to manage and store the analysis. The grounded theory that emerged suggests that baby feeding was not an easy part of these midwives’ work. These midwives were finding ways of dealing with the pressures that were around them, and which they felt, were affecting their practice. Examples of these pressures include the environment where feeding took place, the support and contributions of those around the woman and baby (particularly other midwives), and the beliefs and behaviour of the woman and baby themselves. ‘Surviving’ enabled midwives to feel that they had dealt with baby feeding in their practice and successfully managed their workload. Surviving consists of four main categories: altering proximities of baby feeding, emotionalising baby feeding, struggling with baby feeding, and directing baby feeding. Surviving is not a linear process that is sequential, but cyclical as these categories are inter-related to each other. However, these midwives’ actions created many of the problems that they experienced, therefore the process was perpetuated. The significance of this substantive theory has been explored within the literature related to baby feeding, workers’ functioning in other public service bureaucracies, and research methodology. Implications for midwifery research, practice and policy are discussed. It is suggested that this thesis could contribute to wider health service agendas such as clinical governance, multi-disciplinary working and public health.

Abstract:
Although affective factors have been regarded as important in reading development, these aspects have attracted relatively little attention from policy makers and researchers. Furthermore, adolescent boys have tended to demonstrate lower reading motivation and engagement than other pupil groups. This thesis investigates reading engagement and motivation amongst Key Stage 3 boys, through materials based on the principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI).The thesis comprises three interlinked studies. In Study One, a whole class, five-session intervention was designed. This was introduced to Year 8 boys attending a single sex school and a quasi-experimental design was developed to measure its efficacy. However, during the piloting and delivery of the sessions, it became evident that the boys' responses to the activities were influenced by socio-cultural factors, group dynamics and classroom practices. Following an exploration of the outcomes in relation to MI theory, an alternative model of enquiry was proposed to further investigate boys' views and perceptions of reading. Study Two involved working with staff in the Learning Support Department. Opportunities to use the materials with individual pupils proved to be limited, restricting further investigation into their usefulness. However, staff focus groups provided information about pupil views and perceptions of reading, offering insights into the boys' educational and socio-cultural contexts and possible explanations for their responses in Study One. The activities, therefore, became a tool for investigating boys' reading within the school, rather than an intervention per se. Once a clearer understanding of school-based literacy practices had been established, in Study Three, findings were presented to boys who had participated in Study One. Discussion groups were held to explore the boys' views about these ideas and discuss possible explanations for the outcomes of the quasi-experimental research. Overall research findings indicated that the factors that facilitated or inhibited boys' reading were the result of complex interactions between socio-cultural influences, peer pressures, gender perceptions and literacy preferences. MI was seen as a useful paradigm for schools to explore both the affective literacy needs of individual pupils and how school-based literacy practices might facilitate reading development opportunities.

Abstract:

I chose the diagnosis Asperger’s syndrome as subject for my graduation paper, because I believe it is relevant to my education. As a future pedagogue I may very well come in contact with children and adolescents diagnosed with different syndromes and I want to be prepared. The purpose of my paper is to investigate pedagogues’ views on how to facilitate school work for children diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome.

In order to find out how school pedagogues work I chose interviews as method for my research. Initially, my idea was to interview five teachers, but during the course of my work my opinion and my choices have changed. My final interview subjects were: three teachers, one assistant and one special pedagogue. These five persons share purpose and goals but use different methods. Their approach, I believe, contains a high level of aspiration towards creating a pleasant school environment where children and adolescents diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome can develop. To cumulate background facts on Asperger’s syndrome and its symptoms, I have used literature and electronic resources.

Upon completing my research it became evident that all subjects interviewed agree that these students need a structured and tranquil environment. To assist a student during the day one can place a schedule on the blackboard that is used by either the entire group or place an individual schedule at the student’s seat. The interview subjects also stressed the fact that as pedagogues it is important to implement flexibility in one’s teaching as well as in one’s planning of classes. It is also important that these children and adolescents are met in a way that matches their abilities and knowledge.

 


Jag valde att skriva mitt examensarbete om diagnosen Aspergers syndrom. Anledningen är att jag anser ämnet relevant för den utbildning jag läser. Som blivande pedagog vill jag vara förberedd då jag kan möta barn och ungdomar med olika former av diagnoser. Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka pedagogernas syn på hur man kan underlätta skoldagen för elever med Aspergers syndrom.

För att få reda på hur pedagoger ute i skolorna arbetar valde jag intervju som metod för min undersökning. Min tanke var från början att intervjua fem lärare men under arbetets gång ändrades min uppfattning och mina val. De val jag slutligen gjorde var att intervjua; tre lärare, en assistent samt en specialpedagog. Dessa fem personer arbetar mot samma mål och med samma syfte men på olika sätt. Deras arbetssätt anser jag är en hög strävan mot att barn och ungdomar med Aspergers syndrom skall trivas samt att det skall finnas möjlighet för utveckling i skolan.  För att få bakgrundsfakta om diagnosen Aspergers syndrom samt information om vilka symptom som kan finnas hos barnen har jag använt mig av litteratur samt elektroniska källor.

Resultatet efter att ha genomfört min undersökning visar att alla intervjupersoner är eniga om att elever med Aspergers syndrom behöver en strukturerad och lugn miljö. För att hjälpa eleven under dagen kan man använda sig av schema på tavlan som hela gruppen följer eller ett enskilt schema som kan placeras vid elevens plats. Intervjupersonerna tar även upp att det som pedagog gäller att vara flexibel i sin undervisning samt i sin planering av lektionerna. Det är även viktigt att dessa barn och ungdomar bemöts efter deras förmåga och kunskap.

Abstract:
This dissertation addresses an ignored [partly for its controversial nature] aspect of Nietzschean philosophy: that of the role of modern woman in the creation of a future horizon. Details of the effects of the Enlightenment, Christianity and democracy upon society are discussed, as well as effects on the individual, particularly woman. After this forward look at the changes anticipated by Nietzsche, the traditional roles of woman as the eternal feminine, wife and mother are debated. An argument for the necessity of a continuation of the battle of the sexes, and the struggle among men and women in a context of sexual love and friendship is given. This mutual affirmation must occur through the motivation of pride and not vanity. In conclusion, I argue that one possible avenue for change is a Nietzschean call for a modern revaluation of values by noble woman in conjugation with her warrior scholar to bring about the elevation of mankind.

Esta tese objetiva investigar as muitas manifestações religiosas do personagem-narrador Riobaldo, no romance Grande Sertão: Veredas, de João Guimarães Rosa, e sua “inusitada” religiosidade. O foco central da pesquisa é a análise psicorreligiosa dos conteúdos presentes nas falas deste protagonista e, de alguns episódios simbólicos da narrativa. As investigações visam compreender as dúvidas e inquietações, que sempre perpassam o pensamento deste sujeito, considerado o representante universal do “homem humano”. Pressupostos teóricos psicanalíticos de Freud, Lacan, Ana-Maria Rizzuto e alguns seguidores respaldam a prática terapêutica do narrador no contar sobre sua vida. Já velho e, descansando em sua rede, ele precisa falar para se entender, superar suas dificuldades e “atravessar os fantasmas” de sua existência. Sua religiosidade, assim como sua psique, e as formas de compreensão do mundo são tão multifacetadas, que nenhuma religião lhe satisfaz completamente. Mas é através do amor e da reza, que ele busca compreender a realidade, pois considera a religião como “coisa do coração” e a condição de ser solitário e impotente é que o faz crer em Deus.
The present thesis aims to investigate the many religious manifestations shown by the   character-narrator Riobaldo, as well as his “unusual” religious views, in the novel The Devil to Pay in the Backlands, by João Guimarães Rosa. The research focuses on a psycho-religious analysis of the protagonist’s lines and of some symbolic episodes of the narrative. The investigations intend to comprehend the doubts and unrests that are always in this subject’s thoughts, considering the universal representative of the “human man”. The psychoanalytical theoretical grounds of Freud, Lacan, Ana-Maria Rizzuto as well as some of their followers support the narrator’s therapeutical practice of narrating his life. Already as an elderly and resting in his hammock, he needs to talk as a way of understanding himself, overcoming his difficulties and “crossing the ghosts” of his existence. His religious views, just like his psyche, and the forms of understanding the world have many sides, which no religion can fully satisfy. But it is through love and prayer that he tries to comprehend reality, for he considers religion as a “thing of the heart”, and his lonely and powerless condition is what makes him believe in God.

Olive Schreiner is perhaps best remembered for, and was in her own lifetime most famous as the author of, The Storv of an African Farm (1883; a semiautobiographical novel set in South Africa), Woman and Laooor (1911; a theoretical tract on the condition of women and the feminist movement), and numerous "dreams" or allegories (Dreams, 1890; Dream Life and Real Life, 1893; Stories, Dreams and Allagories, 1923). Prominent amongst her other works are her first novel, Undine (1929) and From Man to Mao (1926), an unfinished novel published posthumously which deals with the subject of prostitution — a subject which concerned Schreiner throughout her life and which is a recurring theme in her work. Assessments of Olive Schreiner's work, however, have been plagued by the portrait of her constructed in Samuel Cronwright Schreiner's biography, The Life Qt Qliva Sohrainar and in his "Preface" to The Letters of Olive Schreiner. 1876-1920. As Ruth First and Ann Scott maintain in their biography of Schreiner, CronwrightSchreiner's Life written after Schreiner's death presents Schreiner as "the hysterical personality of the 18803"? They contend that Cronwright, unable to comprehend the complexities of Schreiner's emotional and intellectual constitution, constructed and perpetuated a view of her acceptable to himself by destroying much of the biographical material to which he had access. He was thus able to defuse those aspects of her life and thought which most evaded his understanding and which he could not reconcile with conventional notions of genius - and femininity. In this way, "his presentation of her personality and behaviour created the Olive Schreiner of most subsequent biographies and commentary".

In Man, the State and War, Kenneth N. Waltz claims that for a peace prescription to be valid, it must be based on a proper view of the causes of war. Waltz analyzes the validity of three basic causes of war: man himself, the characteristics of the nation-state, and the international system.I have examined the views of Elder Stephen L Richards on peace and war in the context of the Waltz framework. Elders Richards believed that the failings of men were the primary causes of war. His prescription for peace was widespread acceptance of the Gospel. He disagreed with the Waltz view that men are unchanging and that peace plans based on the reform of men are futile. Elder Richards' views coincided with Waltz' that democracies are more likely to be peaceful than dictatorships. He recognized, too, that aspects of the international system contribute to conflict. Elder Richards was ambivalent, however, about the prospects of the Gospel being accepted by enough people for peace to be established.

Enligt läsmodellen The Simple View of Reading (L = A x S) är både avkodning och språkförståelse avgörande för en god läsförståelse. Elever med svag språkförståelse upptäcks sällan före mellanstadiet, då textinnehållet i de lägre skolåren inte ställer så höga krav på elevernas förståelse av skrivet språk. Syftet med studien är att fördjupa förståelsen för hur undervisningen, utifrån lärares perspektiv, kan främja språkförståelsen för alla elever och därmed förebygga läsförståelsesvårigheter. Studien har en kvalitativ forskningsansats och utgår från halvstrukturerade intervjuer. Tio lärare, med behörighet att undervisa i ämnet svenska i årskurs 1–3, deltog i undersökningen. En främjande språkförståelseundervisning bygger, enligt lärarna i studien, på muntliga och gemensamma aktiviteter kring ord och begrepp, aktivering av förkunskap, textstrukturer, inferenser och till viss del förståelse av meningar. Lärarens vägledning och stöttning, scaffolding, framhålls som betydelsefullt för samtliga elevers förståelse av texter. Även lärarens högläsning ses som ett viktigt inslag för att eleverna ska få möta texter som ligger på en mer avancerad nivå i förhållande till den egna avkodningsförmågan. Språkförståelsen genomsyrar hela skoldagen och samtliga ämnen, men begreppet i sig är för lärarna diffust. I studien framkom även att tid och kunskap för att möta elever med svag språkförståelse samt brist på adekvat undervisningsmaterial framhålls som begränsande faktorer. Språkförståelsen behöver belysas och aktualiseras i tidiga skolår. Likväl behöver forskning kring förebyggande och stödjande arbete implementeras på skolorna för att möta teori och praktik.

Abstract:
Chang Chün-mai, known in the West as Carsun Chang, played a prominent role on the political stage of wartime China. As educator, philosopher, and politician, he vainly attempted to alter the course of China's political and cultural development. Although commonly referred to as a liberal-democrat, this study shows Chang to be more of a traditionally-minded conservative. Masked by the heavy use of a liberal-democratic vocabulary, Chang maintained a firm commitment to principles that owed much more to conservative Chinese tradition than to Western liberalism. The fact that Chang Chün-mai did rely so heavily on liberal-democratic arguments and came to be known by some as the Father of the Constitution tends to cloud his real intent. It is argued here that his efforts to bring a Western-style constitution to China can better be understood by recognizing two major points: first, Chang, as well as many others, used the constitutional issue in an attempt to force Chiang Kai-shek to share political power; and, secondly, the constitutional issue provided Chang with the conceptual and institutional vehicle for rebuilding the socio-political relationships between the various elements of Chinese society which had existed before the Republic. Within the latter goal, Chang also souqht to create a position of influence and prestige for the class of intellectuals of which he was a part. This study explores one dimension of Chinese conservatism. It shows Chang Chün-mai as a neo-traditionalist whose behaviour was guided and limited by his image of the Chinese cultural tradition--limitations which significantly contributed to his failure. Examining Chang's actions in wartime China sheds more light on the reasons for the failure of the so-called "third force" elements that stood between the Kuomintang and the Chinese Communist Party. Chang held himself aloof from the great mass of his fellow countrymen, he championed a political position which failed to offer a clear alternative to the authoritarian government of Chiang Kai-shek, and his philosophical and conservative viewpoint prevented him from carrying his political opposition to a point which seriously challenged Chiang Kai-shek. Although this study does conclude that Chang's idealized image of the Confucian gentleman (chün-tzu) acted as a handicap in the political milieu of wartime China, it confines that conclusion to a given time and place, and under particular circumstances. It emphatically does not purport to discount the viability or appropriateness of traditional Chinese values in the modern world, or with some form of democratic system. Far from exhaustive, this study is, at best, partial. It is meant to explore a dimension of the Chinese effort to reconcile themselves and their culture with a changing environment. Source materials are limited and not without inconsistencies. A major drawback is that much of the Chinese-language material concerning Chang Chün-mai is lauditory in nature and biased in his favor. If time permitted, a more thorough study of the personal accounts of other actors involved would no doubt yield a more balanced picture. Further, the circumstances under which much of the wartime materials were written required a good deal of circumspection on the part of the writers, and therefore, requires a good deal of "reading between the lines" by the modern reader. I have tried to keep my conclusions reasonable without imparting my own ideas to a difficult translation.

This also meant that the concept "true and fair view" was introduced in the new "Årsredovisningslagen". The concept is not clearly defined and therefore the interpretation may differ amongst accountants.

Purpose: The purpose with the study is to understand the meaning of "true and fair view" and to find out how accountants use the concept. The purpose is also to investigate which factors contribute to achieve a "true and fair view".

Method: The method used to gather information was a qualitative interview investigation.

Conclusions: Our result shows that there is no difference between the concept"true and fair view"in Sweden and the Swedish GAAP. Our result also shows that additional information should be emphasized.

Enterprise Resource planning has gained prominence in the field of IS literature and is a significant phenomenon in practice in organizations and now also in higher educational institutions. These Institutions have their own unique method of operation and infrastructural facilities; and one of the biggest single most expenditure made by them is in their Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. The drive towards ERP is based on a desire to rationalize and streamline information systems across the whole organization seeking both improvement and business benefits. The ERP systems combine all discrete information into a single, integrated, real-time database. In the HEI context the ERP systems are seen as software solutions that address the diverse needs by tightly integrating all departments and functions within a single computer system configuration to serve particular needs such as students systems which manage all the student records/data and VLE systems like Blackboard which is a course management system. ERP addresses the institutions needs by providing a better service to its various users. The aim of this research study is to explore the quality, impact, benefits, utility and challenges of ERP systems specifically the student systems and VLE Blackboard in a Higher Educational Institution and analyse these ERP systems from a multiple perspective. The ERP systems have been applied by many Educational Institutions around the world as a key part of their organizational infrastructure and these systems tend to have a long life cycle in organizational use. The requirement is for the smooth functioning and utilization of these ERP systems while taking into consideration the changing demands as universities operate in a dynamic environment where there is a rapid change in technology. Millions of pounds and extensive deliberation is made on the implementation of the ERP system on the basis of expectations to align the institution objectives with business needs. Abstract:
The aims of the two studies were to survey and describe views of xerostomia among health care professionals and to explore, among afflicted adults; the main concerns associated with xerostomia and attempted remedies. Two empirical studies with qualitative design were conducted. In Paper I, 16 participants were interviewed representing health care professionals with various exposures to patients with xerostomia. The data were subjected to qualitative content analysis. In Paper II, qualitative, conversational style interviews were conducted with 15 participants with subjective complaints of dry mouth. The grounded theory method was applied for data analysis. In the findings (Paper I), the latent content was formulated into a theme: Xerostomia is a well-known problem yet, there is inadequate management of patients with xerostomia. The findings identified three major categories expressing the manifest content: awareness of xerostomia, indifferent attitude, and insufficient support. Health care professionals recognised xerostomia as a common and escalating problem, particularly among elderly. Yet, the problem received little attention. In Paper II, a model was generated to elucidate the main concerns of xerostomia among afflicted individuals and how they handle various aspects of their condition. The core category was labelled: an aggravating misery, meaning that xerostomia has a devastating and debilitating impact on multiple domains of well-being. The model involves three different categories/remedial strategies, namely professional consultation, search for affirmation, and social withdrawal. All three categories express what the participants do to resolve their problems with xerostomia. In general, the participants perceived xerostomia as a burden and as a condition they were constantly reminded of. The participants also expressed a feeling of resignation due to lack of confirmation and support. The findings underscore that xerostomia is not a trivial condition for those afflicted. Oral impairment as well as physical and psychosocial consequences of xerostomia had negative impact on the participants´ qualitative of life. Health care professionals felt that xerostomia was an underestimated problem and that clinical symptoms and subsequent treatment were often ignored. The findings revealed that xerostomia is not only a predicament of the oral cavity but affects the individual as a whole. This is of particular concern among elderly as the occurrence of xerostomia increases with advancing age due to chronic diseases and adverse medications. In summary, it is essential to adopt a holistic view, and to provide additional education and improved interdisciplinary collaboration to manage and care for individuals suffering from xerostomia.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att få kunskap om hur svenska icke-muslimska kvinnor ser på muslimska kvinnor, samt på vilket sätt svenska författare har skildrat kvinnan och islam. Med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer och textanalys har min vetskap blivit större.

Urvalet svenska akademiska författare som studien bygger på vill visa att kränkningen av kvinnor inte handlar om religion utan om hur Koranen har blivit feltolkad samt hur resten av världen ser på den muslimska kulturen. Bland författarna finns teorier om att kvinnan är ett offer för samhället, feltolkningar och fördomar men även ett offer på grund av bristen på jämlikhet inom islam.

Kunskapen om islam är inte så stor hos intervjupersonerna. De är kluvna i sin bild av den muslimska kvinnan. Dels ses hon som ett offer i slöja, kuvad och underlägsen. Dels påpekas det att hon är en del av religionen likväl som mannen. Det finns en tanke hos intervjupersonerna om att kvinnor kränks men inte på grund av religionen. Den muslimske mannen har en bister framtoning och ses som familjens överhuvud.


The purpose of this paper is to gain insight into how Swedish non-Muslim women look at Muslim women, as well as the manner in which Swedish authors have depicted women and Islam. Through qualitative interviews and text analysis, my knowledge has grown.

The selection of Swedish academic writers included in this study wants to show that the violation of women is not about religion but about how the Quran has been misinterpreted, and how the world looks at the Muslim culture. Among the authors we find theories that the woman is a victim of society, misinterpretations and prejudices but also a victim because of lack of equality in Islam.

The knowledge of Islam is not much developed among the interviewees and they have a split view of the Muslim woman. Partly she is seen as a victim of the veil, subjugated and inferior. Partly it is pointed out that she is a part of Muslim religion in the same way as the man is. There is a view among the interviewees that women are violated because of religion. The Muslim man has a grim image and is seen as the head of the family.

Bakgrund: Internationell forskning visar att det från vårdpersonalens sida existerar dömande attityder gentemot patienter med drog- och alkoholmissbruk. Patienterna tillskrivs som grupp negativa egenskaper såsom att de är aggressiva, manipulativa och farliga och att arbeta med omvårdnad av dessa patientgrupper har lägre status än omvårdnaden av andra patienter. Motsvarande studier gällande hur det ser ut i en svensk kontext har däremot inte identifierats och således existerar här en kunskapslucka. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att beskriva sjuksköterskors syn på patienter med missbruksproblem inom psykiatrisk omvårdnad. Metod: Studien har genomförts som en empirisk intervjustudie med kvalitativ ansats. En fokusgruppsintervju genomfördes med fyra aktiva sjuksköterskor som deltagare. Fokusgruppsintervjun analyserades med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Analysen resulterade i åtta kategorier som urskilts ur materialet: Kontakt genom vinnande strategi, Den självvalda kontaktlösheten, Den hämmande vårdmiljön, Människan som helhet, Den individreducerande vårdkulturen, Livsöde, Den onda cirkeln samt Frustration. Slutsats: Studien visar att sjuksköterskan inom psykiatrisk omvårdnad har en humanistisk människosyn som grund för omvårdnad av patienter med missbruksproblem. Denna människosyn hindras ibland av frustation som uppstår gentemot patienterna, av att patienterna reduceras till objekt, samt av den miljö i vilken sjuksköterskan och patienten möts, något som i sin tur leder till en mer naturalistisk människosyn. Klinisk betydelse: Att utöka kunskapen om synen på den missbrukande patienten i kontexten psykiatrisk omvårdnad. Kunskapen kommer att kunna användas för att minska distinktionen mellan teori och praktik gällande hur den humanistiska människosynen appliceras inom den psykiatriska omvårdnaden.
Background: International research shows that there exist judgmental attitudes among nursing staff towards patients with drug and alcohol addiction. The patients as a group are assigned negative properties such as being aggressive, manipulative and dangerous, and caring for these patients have a lower status than the care of other patients. Corresponding studies of how it looks in a Swedish context have not been identified and thus there’s a gap in knowledge. Aim: The aim of the study was to describe the nurses’ view of patients with substance misuse problems in psychiatric care. Method: The study was conducted as an empirical interview study with a qualitative approach. A focus group interview was conducted with four active nurses as participants. The focus group interview was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in eight categories out of the collected data: contact by winning strategy, the self-selected absence of contact, the inhibitory care environment, the human being in its entirety, the reduction of the individual by care culture, destiny, the vicious cycle and frustration. Conclusion: The study shows that nurses within psychiatric care have a humanistic view of man as a basis for caring for patients with substance misuse problems. This view of man is hindered by frustration that arises in relation to the patients, that the patients are reduced to objects and the environment in which the nurse and the patient interact. This, in turn, leads to a more naturalistic view of man. Clinical significance: To expand the knowledge regarding the view of the patient with substance misuse problems in psychiatric care. The knowledge will be usable to decrease the distinction between theory and practice regarding how the humanistic view of man can be practically applied to psychiatric care.

Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av och uppfattningar om arbete med sexualitet inom palliativ vård. Metod: Studien har en kvalitativ design med induktiv ansats. Det empiriska materialet inhämtades genom tre fokusgruppsintervjuer med elva sjuksköterskor som arbetar inom palliativ vård i södra Sverige. Intervjuerna analyserades med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultatet diskuterades analytiskt genom teoretiska begreppet sexuella skript. Resultat: Resultatet visar att arbete med sexualitet inom palliativ vård omgärdas av en ambivalens om relevans och betydelse vilket visar sexualitetens oklara plats. Behov av stödjande insatser för patient och närstående identifierades och beskriver en sexualitet i förändring. Arbete kopplat till sexualitet görs till viss del men bristen av det är mer framträdande. Metoder, ansvar och hinder för att inkludera sexualitet framkommer och drivs av en vilja att göra rätt. Background: In palliative care, aspects of sexuality can be raised. Guidelines for palliative care say that sexuality should be heeded in the work. Previous research shows that inclusion of sexuality in healthcare is deficient and there is a knowledge gap on how it appears in palliative care. Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate nurses’ experiences and perceptions of work with sexuality in palliative care. Method: The study has a qualitative design with an inductive approach. The empirical material was obtained through three focus group interviews with eleven nurses working in palliative care in southern Sweden. The interviews were analyzed with a qualitative content analysis. The result was discussed analytically through the theoretical concept sexual script. Result: The result shows that work with sexuality in palliative care is surrounded by an ambivalence of relevance and meaning that shows the unclear place of sexuality. The need for supportive efforts for patients and related persons was identified and describes a sexuality in change. Work associated to sexuality is done to some extent, but the lack of it is more prominent. Methods, responsibilities and barriers to include sexuality appear and are driven by a desire to do the right thing. Conclusion: Increased knowledge and visibility of sexuality is needed to counteract that there are notions of sexuality in the final stages of life and not knowledge that will guide if and how sexuality is included in work of palliative care.
