Se establece en primer lugar que en algunos estudios sobre los habitantes de Vilcabamba, se ha exagerado la edad por diversas circunstancias y que para el estudio de la átero-esclerosis se ha escogido exclusivamente cuarenta y seis personas mayores de 70 años; 31 hombres y 15 mujeres, de edad debidamente comprobada, de acuerdo a lo encontrado en los estudios del Sr. Richard Mazzes y Silvia Forman, quienes han confeccionado un listado de los habitantes de Vilcabamba con la respectiva edad técnicamente establecida.

En la zona de Vicabamba, Loja Ecuador, se llevó a cabo una investigación tendiente a dilucidar si la frecuencia de enfermedades cardiovasculares, es realmente menor allày la longevidad mayor, como han afirmado algunos autores.
 Se examinó el 38,4% de la población total, encontrándose un notable número de longevos, con escasa o ninguna manifestación arteriosclerótica.

Este artículo trata sobre el sitio arqueológico de Negruyoq, un sitio con quilcas (pictogramas), ubicados en la cuenca del río Yanama, dentro del Parque Arqueológico de Choquequirao en Vilcabamba. Para este trabajo se practicó un análisis formal, así como inferencias cronológicas y culturalistas a partir de las superposiciones y elementos figurativos compartidos.
