O presente trabalho apresenta o tema "Um lugar chamado lar: o princípio da proteção integral e a violência doméstica contra crianças e adolescentes".

Some scholars of violence have proclaimed for decades that its origin is not linked to our biological nature. For this reason, we study the cultural systems that house it, the social elements that make it up, the social interactions that propitiate it, the emotions that accompany victims and executioners. The different forms of violence are studied: political violence, cultural violence, gender violence, violence at work, etc. Translating each and every one of these aspects into human reality is overwhelming; painful, it involves suffering and misfortune. Therefore, we ask ourselves, is there a micro or macro social system in which there is no violence? This doctoral thesis is born from the observation of a paradox in a very concrete environment; violence in environments where work is being done to eradicate gender violence. Within the framework of the Doctoral Programme Persona i Societat en el Món Contemporani, a compendium of articles is being developed with the aim of describing the relational dynamics that occur in the working environment of professionals and for professionals who work to combat gender violence. In addition, it investigates the social or organizational factors that allow and sustain these practices. Finally, it describes and analyses the physical and psychological consequences of suffering situations of mistreatment in this work environment and the ways in which it is dealt with.

Full textThis doctoral thesis examines the presence of psychological harassment (mobbing), sexual harassment and burnout in a sample of 1730 workers of the Valecian Community. In the research different methods have been used for the assessment of violence and burnout. We contrasted the results obtained with the different methods and we put them into relation with a number of social-labour characteristics of interest such as firm size, age, type of company, gender of the harasser and gender of the victim or the status held in the company by the harasser. Results show that the type of company (public versus private) and victim's gender (male versus female) are not related to the same degree of psychological harassment, while the age and company size (large versus small) of the workers who reported having been victims of harassment were related. With respect to sexual harassment and social-labour variables, we only found differences in the gender of the victims, thus women reported themselves to be victims of sexual harassment to a greater extend than men. When we refer to the status of the perpetrator and the victim's gender, men are harassed by people who occupy a similar to their position in the occupational hierarchy while when the victim is a woman, harassment comes most often from people who occupy a higher hierarchical position. With regard to burnout, we found the type of company and the victim's gender not to be related to the greater or lesser presence of burnout. Finally, with respect to age, we found that older people reported having experienced more burnout, and, with regard to the size of company in which the victim works, we found this syndrome to be the more common presented in small firms. This study also provides interesting information about the social variables mentioned, as well as the gender and status of the harasser.

Full textIn Peru, statistics indicate that violence against women is one of the most relevant social problems in our context. Only in 2017, 65.4% of this population experienced situations of violence by their partner. By constituting itself as a traumatic and destructive fact for the psyche, violence is capable of provoking representational gaps that not only impede their psychic elaboration, but also facilitate their transmission in the family plot. Therefore, this research aims to describe and understand the transgenerational elements present in the relational configurations of a consultant violated by her partner. For this purpose, and within the framework of extra-clinical psychoanalytic research, a systematic case study is carried out, in which the CCRT-LU-S method identifies the repetitive elements in the relationship patterns of the consultant with the objects of his previous generation and his current generation. The findings point out that the trauma caused by violence captures the way the consultant experiences herself and her relationships with significant others. The struggle between what she wants for herself and what she is forced to repeat reveals that she is inscribed and trapped in a generational fabric undermined by violence and traversed by links that are held in a cultural matrix that places women in a position of passivity and submission.

Full textGender violence, violence applied over the women, has become a currently social problem, that has a huge importance in our country, and in the rest of developed countries. Only physical or psychological aggressions that women suffer in their relationships are protected by the Organic Law 1/2004, of 28th. December, of Measures destinated to the Integral Protection Against Gender Violence. Although, this Law consider the aggressions that women suffer in their work environment like a expression of gender violence. The present thesis analyze the violent behaviours that women suffer in their work environment and the ways to prevent them. Because the more freedom the woman has while she is working, and without any type of obstacles, the closer we are to a equal society, and the levels of prosperity and welfare of entire society will be bigger. OBJECTIVES The present investigation has indicated the following objectives, presupposing that this laboral risk, like the others, must and could be eradicated: * Examine and value the woman situation in our society, which is her role and how she is affected by the circumstances around her. * Know the woman´s role at her work environment, events of recent history and her situation at the moment. * Analyze aggressions that female workers suffer in their work environment, and the resources that must be integrated on the companies to prevent the violent behaviours. METHODOLOGY Taking a syncretic and pluralist position, from the methodological point of view, the tasks to do are the following:* Examine the statistical information obtained of surveys and analysis and comments about these surveys. Analyze the most important bibliography about this issue. * Study guides, methods, equality plans, collective agreement and measures to prevent the different types of violence on the work environment, with the intention of investigate their utility. * Visit the Specialized Centers to know how this labour conflict is been treated from a practical point of view. CONCLUSIONS Statistics show an elevated incidence rate of antisocial behaviours over the female workers. In spite of this information, some experts indicate that we only know the iceberg´s top, because we are in front of a hidden crime, it means, a crime that we know and it is denounced only in a few occasions and, therefore, it is very difficult to discover the real numbers. We are in front of an important social and labour problem. This is causing very serious damages in the health of women and it is a barrier to achieve the equality of rights and opportunities between men and women. To know better its regulatory framework, and the typology of real cases analyzed, could allow us to combat the causes. To eradicate the women aggressions in the work environment, we consider essential to progress in many ambits. The most important is the construction of a new social model where both sexes participate equally.

Full textThis investigation pretends to analyze the mobbing perception that homosexual men and women from Lima Metropolitana have. In order to learn about the personal experiences of the participants, the investigator developed an interview guide that reached different subjects of the studied phenomenon. The results leave in evidence lots of discriminatory behaviors that the participants, or some of their partners, had to live with in their workplaces. At the same time, the participants offered some scope on the discrimination they have been able to perceive or feel in the work centers for which they have worked through their personal experience, which has allowed to identify as a transcendental aspect in the appearance of mobbing, the visibility of their sexual orientation and / or of a gender expression that may transgress the parameters of a traditional perspective and patriarchal rigid and macho systems. This subjective experience, complemented with previous theory and academic research, allowed the investigator to analyze one of the most important and unattended issues of Peruvian society.

Full textThe aim of this research is to study the way in which a group of Protestant religious leaders, who are, at the same time, salaried workers within the religious institution, articulate, in their work experience, the concepts of religion and work. In order to that, a qualitative research methodology was used with a thematic analysis design, through which the concepts of religion and work were analyzed, keeping in mind the way in which the participants construct meanings of their work, positioning themselves as a kind of worker according to the characteristics of church culture as a workplace. The results showed that the participants describe their work as markedly differentiated from other types of work by the presence of a sense of transcendence and the perception of a divine call, which has been denominated as: Sacred Work. This articulation carries with meanings and demands perceived by the participants that constitute themselves as chosen religious leaders, validated individually and socially, and subjects of service that have a formative function on the people who are under their charge. The culture promotes the development of family perception (clan) and includes practices such as visits that give meaning to its authorities. The participants describe themselves as active agents of their own zone of influence, which they direct based on their own subjective constitutions.

This doctoral thesis focuses on the study of the exposure to user violence of the nurses of public hospitals in the Region of Murcia. The risk of workplace violence is especially relevant in the health sector, because the nursing collective is one of the most affected ones, as reflected in various studies (Franz, Zeh, Schablon, Kuhnert, & Nienhaus, 2010; Kling, Yassi, Smailes, Lovato, & Koehoorn, 2009; Roche, Diers, Duffield, & Catling-Paull, 2010; Shields & Wilkins, 2009). The objectives of this study are: to determine the exposure to hostile user demonstrations of the nursing staff of the Servicio Murciano de Salud (SMS; in English, the Health Service of Murcia), considering socio-demographic and work variables; to analyze in depth the exposure to violence in the service detected as the most exposed (emergencies), also appraising the exposure to hostile behaviors according to socio-demographic and work variables, and including the presence of possible psychological consequences, as well as a comparison with the results of the total sample of hospital nurses; and finally, to study the relationship between exposure to violence and the level of burnout, appraising the role of job satisfaction as a modulating variable between the two. For this purpose, a self-applied, anonymous questionnaire was administered to the nursing staff in all the SMS hospitals, and a randomized, stratified sampling by centers and services (30% of nurses) was conducted, finally obtaining a sample size of 1,489 subjects (99% confidence level; 1.75% sampling error). Among the results obtained, we highlight that 22.8% of the nurses suffered weekly or daily at least one of the expressions of verbal or non-physical violence collected by the scale, reaching 71% if the past year is considered. Significant differences were found in aggressions received according to marital status, age, hospital, profession, type of contract, shift, seniority in the profession and service, with the emergency unit staff obtaining significantly higher scores on the scale. In these latter workers, we detected that the most frequent expressions of violence to which they have been exposed are anger due to the delay in assistance and the lack of information. Exposure was significantly higher in larger hospitals, in nurses compared with auxiliary staff, and among staff who worked more hours, and a correlation between non-physical violence and the degree of burnout job satisfaction, and psychological well-being was found. Finally, examining in greater depth the relationship between exposure to violence and the level of burnout, we found that workers' level of cynicism directly correlates with the frequency of exposure to non-physical violence when job satisfaction levels are low, but when these are high, regardless of exposure to violence, similar scores were obtained in cynicism. On the basis of these results, we can conclude that the distribution of the risk of exposure to violence is not homogenous within the nursing collective and for this reason, it is important to detect the groups with greater exposure in order to establish and prioritize preventive measures. To establish these groups, we recommend detecting workplaces in which there is a greater percentage of workers with high exposure to violence compared to a reference population. We also recommend including in the planning of preventive activities not only activities aimed at primary risk prevention, but also secondary prevention, such as the increase of the extrinsic job satisfaction, which would decrease the psychological consequences of violence in the worker

Full textThe situation of young people in the periphery of the existence, in the marginalized population of Colombia, develops between violence, poverty and death struggle to stay alive. The story of some of these lives in their economic, political and social networks is the purpose and focus of this doctoral thesis. Which are the power relations that engender marginalization and hired killing?. To approach with a certain degree of accuracy the study of these lives, we have to find the links and power relations that produce them. We have gone back to 1492, to the conquest of the New World, placing us in the Valladolid discussion, between Sepúlveda and Bartolomé de Las Casas (1550-1551). There we found a way to be able to start the conquest and set-up the colonization, both exercises of violence. Violence, which aims at continued dominance through subjectivity processes: them pastorate, in the language of Michel Foucault. In a second section of the first part of the thesis, we study some authors that describe forms of power, which have affected, even today, the exercise of government and the ways of consolidating the states, namely Niccolo Machiavelli, Thomas Hobbes Carl Schmitt. From these exposures, we enter the Colombian maelstrom, marking as starting point, the different war theories of Carl Von Clausewitz War and Michel Foucault. In the second part, Colombia a laboratory of power, we have related the events of some wars in Colombia. But this story is located in a hermeneutical perspective: the marginalized individual who kills, lives and suffers (in) the war, the world and the figure of the young hitman. We show how the forms of power in Colombia are managed through violence and are violent themselves. How the war machine, trapped by the war, generates speeches, captures institutions, and does governments and states. How the war left to its power to kill, is producing a social form and a subject drawn from it: the hitman and his society. Finally, in a third part of conclusions, we propose a political and spiritual alternative to the potent killing apparatus: a hitman as a non-assassin. The author: Ricardo Barba Monsalve.

Full textStudies focused on the evaluation of transfer of training have shown that only between 10% and 30% of the learning is transferred to the job (Holton, Bates, & Ruona, 2000), and predictors and interventions have a modest effect on the transfer (Saks & Burke, 2012). Given this background, this thesis has two goals: (1) to create a predictive model of transfer of training by analyzing the intent to transfer and the variables that underlie it; and (2) to test the implementation intentions as a strategy to increase the level of transfer of learning from training. To achieve these goals, two separate but complementary studies within one doctoral research are developed. The first study follows a prospective ex post facto design with intentional sampling (n = 204), in which the Model to Predict Transfer (MPT) is built from the extension of the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1985) and the incorporation of the implementation intentions model (Gollwitzer, 1993), as well as other motivational theories of the individual (Bandura, 1986; Locke & Latham, 1984). The model focuses on the 'intention to transfer' as the variable that explains the most variance of transfer. Also, assessment instruments, which are developed based on the MPT, are administered and validated. The second study attends a quasi-experimental pre-post two groups design with intentional sampling (n = 64). In this study, the factorial structure of the MPT assessment instruments is confirmed, and the implementation intentions (Gollwitzer, 1993) are tested as an intervention strategy to increase the transfer in the experimental group based on: specific application plans, implementation intentions (pre-test and post-test), and commitment to the implementation of the formulated plans. Results indicate that the MPT has a low predictive ability in general. Specifically, in the first study the 'commitment to transfer' factor emerges with the most significant role in the model (f2 = .23), while data from the second study indicate that the 'indeterminate overcoming obstacles during transfer' and ‘decision-making capacity in the transfer process' are the most important factors in the model (f2 = .64). Furthermore, the second study shows no significant differences in the degree of transfer between control and experimental group, so the effect of implementation intentions as an intervention strategy to increase transfer cannot be established. Even though this thesis achieves the established goals, results disprove most of the hypothesis made. But instead of being an obstacle to the investigation, it turns to be a step forward to propose new paths for research, which will allow advancing in the field of evaluation and prediction of the transfer of training.

Full textThe relatives of the disappeared, despite apparently being left in a paralyzed scenario of pain and suffering after the internal armed conflicto-CAI, were able to find strengths and strategies to face and face life. The family members have been actively participating for more than 34 years in ANFASEP, fighting for truth, justice and reparation. The objetive of this research is to analyze the construction of the meaning of the disappeared person, based on his personal and collective experiences in ANFASEP. The methodology used was qualitative, with phenomenological character and from an ethnographic perspective. The ethnographic observation was carried out in different scenarios, individual interviews and a discussion group, these techniques dialogues with each other, in the elaboration of the results of the investigation. The participants were direct relatives of the disappeared who are members of ANFASEP. The results show that time, as a process, is fundamental to elaborate and rework the experiences lived from the disappeared, in a personal and collective way. From the community psychology, the research recognizes the agency and the capacity for transformation that has allowed to reconfigure the life of the relatives of the disappeared, over time. An intercultural look, through customs, cultural rituals, symbolic elements; allowed and established forms of communication and relationship between the living, with the disappeared and disappeared-dead, and from the collective experiences, a sense of community has been built, and it is from there that the meaning is given to the disappeared.

Full textIntroduction: The priority role of physical activity, both in the prevention and in the management of the components of the metabolic syndrome, has been widely established in the last decade. Objectives: To evaluate the association between physical activity levels at work and the presence of metabolic syndrome among individuals aged ≥20 years in different geographical settings of Peru. Materials and methods: A secondary analysis of a population-based survey was conducted. Five population strata of Peru were included. The data were in accordance with the methodology of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics. The diagnosis of metabolic syndrome was established according to internationally consensus criteria, based on the anthropometric, biochemical and clinical parameters that are involved in its diagnosis. The exposure of interest was physical activity at work, split into high, moderate and low levels. To evaluate the association of interest, the Poisson regression model was used and crude and adjusted models were created. Results: The data of 4029 individuals were analyzed, average age of 42.1 years (SD 15.3) and 2013 (50.0%) were women. A total of 1011 (25.1%; 95% CI: 23.8% - 26.5%) subjects presented metabolic syndrome, and this percentage varied according to the study region. Metabolic syndrome was more frequent in Lima (29.6%) and the rest of the Coast (30.8%), and less frequent in the rural Sierra (17.4%, p<0.001). The multivariate model showed evidence of association between physical activity at work and the presence of metabolic syndrome. When compared to those who had high physical activity levels at work, those who reported moderate levels of physical activity were 1.51 (95% CI: 1.25-1.81) more likely to have metabolic syndrome, whereas among those with low levels of physical activity levels at work the association was stronger (1.71, 95% CI: 1.42 - 2.07). Conclusions: Low levels of physical activity at work are strongly associated with the presence of metabolic syndrome. For this reason, measures to increase the performance of physical activity at work should be promoted to contribute to the reduction of the prevalence of MS in our population.

Full textActitudes. Attitudes and actions of family doctors regarding gender based violence in the Autonomous Community of Murcia Abstract. Introduction. This thesis reflects the need for family doctors to respond to the serious public health problem that is gender based violence, in this case partner violence, whose etiology is complex and multifactorial because it is based on sociocultural constructions which maintain gender inequalities. Objetive. The objectives are to determine the attitudes and knowledge of Primary Care general practitioners within the Health Service of Murcia regarding gender based violence, identify their actions in the detection, assessment, intervention and referral of female victims as well as their children and the aggressor, analyse the recording of domestic violence in the primary care electronic medical records, inquire about their difficulties and perceived needs and explore what their suggestions for improvement are. Resources and Methods. We performed a cross-sectional descriptive study. The investigation is divided into three parts: 1. Analysis of the recording of gender based violence (GBV) in the Primary Care electronic medical records (PCEMR): it included people with individual health cards (TSI) whose medical records included CIAP-2 codes (International Primary Care Coding ) Z12 and Z25 (relationship problems and violence) during 2012 and 2013. 2. Analysis of knowledge, attitudes and actions of general practitioners (GP) when facing (GBV) 3. Exploration of the opinions of general practitioners about the difficulties of screening and proposals for its improvement. GPs working in primary care centres (PC) within the Murcia Health Service (MHS) which on December 31, 2012 was a total of 828. They were divided into nine groups corresponding to each of the nine areas of the health map of the Region of Murcia. Probability sampling with proportional distribution was performed according to the number of GPs in each area and systematic randomization, establishing a sample of 263 GPs. The measurements were made using a validated self-administered questionnaire which included open questions. A descriptive statistical study was performed of frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation, t-Student, ANOVA test and logistic regression. For the exploration of information obtained in the open questions the technique of content analysis was used. Results: PCEMR Records: the CIAP-2 code recorded most frequently is Z12 (psychological / emotional abuse). There are conditions that make it difficult to know the exact magnitude through data extraction of the incidence of GBV in primary care. Analysis of attitudes, knowledge, performances and opinion: To a large degree GPs consider GBV to be a social problem. Lack of time and not knowing how to ask about GV are the most common reasons for not investigating GV during consultations, needing clinical suspicion in order to consider this diagnosis. They accept as part of their professional role that they must be vigilant in identifying risk factors. Regarding the aggressor, they agree that they must continue their professional activities with them. Investigate whether children are victims and arise from social health resources. Few GPs feel fully trained to deal with victims, relating that they have received little training and expressed a great desire to receive it. Each GP has diagnosed an average of 1.78 cases. The profile of the victim is a woman of 50 who frequently consults and takes psychotropic drugs. Their suggestions for improvement are structural changes with more resources, time and training and meticulous and careful clinical performance. Conclusions: The recording of gender based violence in the primary care electronic case history needs to be improved. General Practitioners have a positive attitude to addressing gender violence in the consulting room. Structural changes are needed to improve health care for gender based violence. Full textPsychological violence in work organizations is a phenomenon that has been studied since many years from varied theoretical perspectives and approaches. The literature suggest that violence and its many forms is a generalized phenomenon that is not only very costly for organizations and the psychological well-being of workers but for society as a whole. One of the forms of interpersonal aggression that has increasingly been studied in the last years is abusive supervision (AS). This type of interpersonal violence occurs in the context of the supervisor – employee relationship and one of its features is that the one who initiates the aggression is the supervisor. The aggression is by means of hostile verbal and non-verbal behaviors that exclude physical contact. AS is a perceptive phenomenon defined by the employee. The literature review shows that although in the last years there has been an increased in the number of publications about AS, there are almost no studies in Ibero- America. Although there is some research in this context about workplace bullying, AS is rarely analyzed. This research aims at establishing a starting point for the study of AS in the cultural reality of Ibero-America. To this aim two studies are set. The first deals with the translation, adaptation and analysis of the psychometric properties of the AS scale. The second study assesses the relations of AS with some well-being and ill-being psychological variables adopting the Theory of Self-Determination (SDT) as the conceptual framework. In the first study, after applying the procedures of translation and adaptation, the scale was administered to two groups of participants (group 1, N = 308; group 2, N = 283) with a six-months interval. Distinct measures were applied to each group to obtain different validity evidences; a multi-group invariance test was also performed. It is concluded that the scale is reliable and valid as it meets the expected psychometric standards. The goal of the second study was to analyze the relationship of AS with some well-being and ill-being variables at work. In the well-being side, work engagement was measured. Some authors regard engagement as the best indicator of psychological wellbeing at work. In the ill-being side burnout and turnover intention were measured. In addition, STD was adopted to study the mediation mechanisms between AS and the outcome variables. SDT offered the mediation variables (needs satisfaction and types of motivation) and the second predictive variable: autonomy support. During the research it was found that autonomy support is basically the opposite of abusive supervision and its mediation processes with the outcome variables were examined as well. The results about AS were similar to what has been reported in the literature. AS is a unique psychosocial risk factor whose negative effects on well-being are sound. In relation to autonomy support the findings suggest that it is the distinctive characteristic of effective leadership practices that not only fosters psychological well-being but it is the answer to the abusive supervision problem. The discussion section lays out some interventions to cope with AS in the organizational context. SDT allowed not only to deepen the understanding of the mediation mechanisms between AS and the outcome variable, but it also provided a valuable theoretical framework to support organizational interventions aimed at reducing and hopefully eliminate what is possible the most toxic workplace stressor that can infest an organization.

Full textObjectives: To evaluate the association between external workplace violence (EWV) and the intention to migration (IM) in physicians working in Peruvian Health System (PHS). Materials and methods: We carried out a secondary analysis of data from questionnaire 2 of the National Survey of Satisfaction of Health Users 2016 (ENSUSALUD-2016). Physicians were chosen by two-stage, probabilistic, stratified, independent and representative sampling of institutions that provide health services of the PHS. Exposure variable was EWV in the last 12 months and it was classified by threat, insult, physical aggression, and sexual harassment. Response variable was IM. We estimated prevalence ratios and CI 95% at the crude level (PRc) and adjusted by statistical criteria (PRa1) and epidemiological criteria (PRa2) by generalized linear models Poisson family link function log for complex samples. Results: We included 2216 physicians, 25,2% reported having been victims of at least one violent event, 13,1% threat, 19,8% insult, 2,1% physical aggression and 1,6% sexual harassment in the last 12 months. 28,3% reported IM. Being victim of insult (PRa2: 1,51; CI 95%: 1,05-2,16) and physical aggression (PRa2: 1,79; CI 95%: 1,29-2,50) increased the probability of IM independent of other sociodemographic, academic, labor and institutional variables measured. We did not observe evidence of statistic association between threat and sexual harassment with IM. Conclusion: Insults and physical aggression in the last 12 months was associated with IM in the physicians of the PHS.
