Team virtuality has been mostly conceptualized as structural features, such as the percentage of time team members communicate via technology. However, the perception of distance and of information deficits (team perceived virtuality, TPV) may be an indispensable construct to understand virtual teams’ functioning. The lockdowns imposed on most countries due to COVID-19 created virtual teams with high degrees of structural virtuality. With structural virtuality held constant among teams, we explore configurations of work characteristics (autonomy, interdependence, and organizational support) th

This review study aimed to investigate how team work design shapes the impact of team virtuality on team functioning. First, while outcome interdependence showed positive effects on the functioning of virtual teams, particularly via motivational increases, task interdependence showed mixed results. Their double being and positioning - in the realities of the internet and physical reality brought out an abundance of critical scientific topics - the consequences of mixing realities and spaces, the tru

Abstract:
Work helps define our lives and the society we live in. The workforce is undergoing a period of rapid change due to a wide range of technological and societal shifts. These drivers of change will touch virtually every professional field and individual career throughout the world over the next 1–3 decades. This AMS Policy Program study examines workforce influences and needs for the weather, water and climate enterprise.

Abstract:
In a span of six years, the proportion of Venezuelans in Peru has surged nearly fourfold, rising from virtually zero to over 4% of the population. This study delves into the dynamics of medium- and long-term labor market integration in Peru, combining data from the Venezuelan Population Residing in Peru Survey and the Peruvian National Household Survey. Our findings reveal that Venezuelan workers experience low returns on foreign postsecondary education and there is minimal relation between foreign work experience and monthly income. Importantly, these outcomes remain consistent irrespective o

Full text
Abstract:
Through surveys of over 43,000 leaders, ExecOnline and the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) identified three key tensions that organizations must address to enable leaders to lead effectively in the current environment. This paper discusses these tensions and offers insights to address them. Tension 1: Leaders want to work virtually–but it’s socially isolating. Tension 2: Leaders want more development opportunities–but they are burned out. Tension 3: Leaders need to make hard decisions–but they also need to motivate and engage talent. The insights gained from this paper suggest that leader

Abstract:
This work deals with the new, relativistic direction in quantum econophysics, within the bounds of which a change of the classical paradigms in mathematical modelling of socio-economic system is offered. Classical physics proceeds from the hypothesis that immediate values of all the physical quantities, characterizing system’s state, exist and can be accurately measured in principle. Non-relativistic quantum mechanics does not reject the existence of the immediate values of the classical physical quantities, nevertheless not each of them can be simultaneously measured (the uncertainty principle

Full text
Abstract:
Type IV hydrogen pressure vessels are made up of three components: a metallic boss, a polymer liner, and a composite overwrapping layer for reinforcement. Leakproof design of bosses is critical for safety, ensuring a gas-tight seal to prevent explosions due to leaks. Yet, their design has been largely overlooked. Using rotational molding it is possible to fully encap sulate bosses within liners during molding, but numerous challenges must be overcome relat ing to boss design for effective molding. FEA software was applied to virtually prototype boss designs and optimize their mechanical perfor

Abstract:
Leaks in fuel storage tanks and distribution piping systems have been identified as a mission-critical problem by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army. Fuel system leaks are often hard to locate and virtually inaccessible for efficient repair because the piping is often installed under a concrete pad or tarmac. Leak repair could cost up to $2,000, and the cost of cleanup and re-mediation for fuel spills can exceed $50,000. In this project an acoustic remote sensing system was installed to monitor an Army heliport refueling system to determine whether it could detect and accurately locat

Abstract:
This study surveyed 3,821 adults living in California about their general travel behaviors and resources, use of ride-hailing, performance ratings for the transportation system and agencies responsible for transportation, transportation system improvement priorities, and preference for how transportation funds are allocated. Key findings include the following: • Californians are multi-modal: Although driving was the most common mode, respondents reported that in the previous 30 days 66% had made a walk trip, 28% had used ridehailing, 25% had used public transit, and 22% had bicycled. • Althoug
