Abstract Abstract 4296 Viscum album L. (mistletoe) is one of the most widely used complementary treatment in cancer therapy. Most investigations of Viscum album L. (VAE) are based on aqueous mistletoe extracts which contain cytotoxic and immunomodulatory proteins such as mistletoe lectins and viscotoxins. Mistletoe triterpene acids are poorly water soluble and therefore missing in mistletoe remedies though they are known to possess anti-cancer properties. Using cyclodextrins it was possible to solubilize the mistletoe triterpene acids, oleanolic acid (OA) and betulinic acid (BA), and to achiev

Due to their low solubility, aqueous extracts contain hardly any triterpenes which are known to possess anti-tumoral properties. Abstract:
Fibrosarcoma is a malignant tumor characterized by a high recurrence rate and resistance to conventional treatments in dogs. This case report presents a case of fibrosarcoma located in the esophagus, diagnosed in a young dog, potentially linked to a chronic inflammatory response triggered by a parasitic infestation. The patient was treated with injectable homeopathic Viscum album as monotherapy, given the constraints imposed by the tumor's location and the priority of preserving the dog's quality of life. After six months of treatment, the dog exhibited a clinical progression unlike the typica

Background & Aim: Extracts of Viscum album (European mistletoe) have immune-stimulatory and cytotoxic effects, with trials showing a well-established effect on the quality of life and prolonged survival in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Regression of tumours following intratumoural injection with Viscum album extract has been documented in individual cases. However, its influence on colon polyps has not been investigated.Case presentation: We present the case of a 78-year-old Caucasian male who had undergone hemi-colectomy for a stage IIIC colon cancer but who refused adjuvant c

и forma rubroaurantiacum (Makino) Kitag. В результате нашего исследования установлено, что северо-западная граница распространения омелы окрашенной достигает в Амурской области долины среднего течения реки Зеи. Впервые отмечается, что на Дальнем Востоке Viscum color

Viscum album, an infrequently used antihypertensive in homeopathy, is evaluated by 1-group pretest–posttest model in primary hypertension. The drug was administered for 12 weeks at a dosage of 10 drops 3 times a day. Using paired t test, a significant drop in blood pressure ( P < .0001) and serum triglyceride ( P < .0001) was observed in the treatment group. This dual effect of Viscum album shows promise in optimizing therapy for primary hypertension.

Background: Viscum album (mistletoe) has been used for a variety of purposes and is widely used as an alternative treatment for cancer and other diseases. Preparations of fermented extracts from Viscum album (VA), a plant from the Loranthaceae family, have been used, mainly in European countries, with promising results as adjuvant therapies, especially in Anthroposophic Medicine.1,2,3. In vitro studies have demonstrated that various types of VA may have cytotoxic activity in carcinoma cells, being able to activate the apoptotic cascade or leading cells to necrosis. It is possible to prepare VA
