Abstract:
As a significant part of information security, Visual Cryptography (VC) is a secret sharing approach which has the advantage of effectively obscuring hints of original secret. In VC, a secret image is separated into partitions which are also known as VC shares. The secret is only able to be revealed by superimposing certain shares. Since Basic VC is in a structure which is similar to that of Braille where white and black dots are arranged in certain orders, it is feasible to utilize the feature of Braille for the authentication of VC. In this paper, the authors will conduct an experiment embedding Braille into grayscale and halftone images as well as VC shares. The result indicates that the embedding of Braille has little impact on VC secret revealing and enhances the security of VC shares.

Abstract:

This dissertation describes the process of converting an application from Visual Basic to a .NET programming language. This work was carried out on behalf of The Prevas Company based in Karlstad, Sweden. Prevas provides IT solutions and industrial systems for several world leading companies such as Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens and many others. The objective behind the conversion of this application was to facilitate a more compatible and flexible option suitable for the other products using the .NET environment. In addition, Prevas felt that the Visual Basic 6 environment had grown rather old and outdated. The task was therefore to convert the source code from Visual basic 6 to .NET language and to determine the most efficient method for the conversion. The outcome of this project was to achieve a fully converted application using the .NET framework with its original functionality intact.

Abstract:
Visual basic educational programme Informational Technologies has become such a popular subject that they are applied in all works of life. However, Informational Technologies are still rarely used in the lessons at school. There are such reasons of the mentioned issue: · Insufficient base of computers, · The old software and its disadvantages, · The lack of computerized educational programmes. The aim of the work was to prove that it is actual to create computerized educational programme. The review of the existes was done too. Before working on a programme one should investigate functional and non- functional users requests for a program. According to the mentioned requests an educational programme was created. With a help of it the educational material and information about Visual Basic 6.0 are presented. The examples of all controlling elements are presented and analyzed too. The tasks for individual work and knowledge testing are involved. The control users` group has evaluated the programme by completing a questionnaire. According to the given answers the programme is in the process of perfection.

Abstract:

Abstract:
For many students in basic writing classrooms the language of writing assignments, essay prompts and required reading is especially difficult. Therefore, some teachers are using approaches other than logical or linguistic methods to assist these students. This thesis details some of the methods teachers and researchers are using. Most significant is a case study that explores the use of visuals in a basic writing classroom. The results of the case study and a survey instrument suggest that there is a niche for alternative methods and the use of visuals in the basic writing classroom.

Abstract:
Visemes are groups of phonemes that are considered visually indistinguishable, but there are many doubts regarding their use in visual speech recognition. In this thesis, a visual speech recogniser is constructed to test the validity of visemes. Examining the phoneme output of the recogniser shows that it is not possible to construct a viseme grouping that exhibits the required phoneme confusion characteristics. This thesis proves that phonemes, not visemes, are the basic visual unit of speech.

Abstract:
Abstract Internal gas flow systems are often used in engineering applications to transfer or absorb energy, or transport materials. Most commercial systems are designed or retrofitted with “off the shelf” components. When pre-built components are selected, post design calculations and experimental tests are required for system optimizations. These calculations are complex and require numerous iterations. The objective of this project was to develop and verify a computerized scheme for optimizing fluid systems. This computerized scheme dramatically reduces the analysis time required, and increases analytical accuracy for system operating characteristics. The software allows a user to interactively create parametric models for various systems, then solve it for system performance characteristics. Also the user may perform sensitivity analysis in order to optimize the model for operating efficiency. Using Visual BASIC, separate analytical modules were developed to analyze individual flow components. Each module consists of one or more input forms which communicates with a main module. The main module uses these solutions to solve system operating points.

The research provides assessment of current and longer-term consequences of iron ore open pit mining for land resources of adjacent areas. There are applied methods of analysis of fund materials; comparison of topographic sheets and special maps, visual observation, soil testing, laboratory analyses and statistic processing of data obtained. It is revealed that facilities of iron ore mining and concentration waste accumulation (dumps and tailing ponds) are destructive factors for the local lithosphere, dust chemical contamination being the basic one. The steps aimed at reducing negative impacts of technogenic objects of the mining and raw material complex on the environment are under study.

Abstract. The article dwells upon the Earth remote sensing data as one of the basic directions of Geo-Information Science, a unique source of information on processes and phenomena occurring in almost all spheres of the Earth geographic shell (atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, etc.). The authors argue that the use of aerospace images by means of the information and communication technologies involvement in the learning process allows not only to increase the information context value of learning, but also contributes to the formation of students’ cognitive interest in such disciplines as geography, biology, history, physics, computer science, etc. It has been grounded that remote sensing data form students’ spatial, temporal and qualitative concepts, sensory support for the perception, knowledge and explanation of the specifics of objects and phenomena of geographical reality, which, in its turn, provides an increase in the level of educational achievements. The techniques of aerospace images application into the modern school practice have been analyzed and illustrated in the examples: from using them as visual aids, to realization of practical and research orientation of training on the basis of remote sensing data. Particular attention is paid to the practical component of the Earth remote sensing implementation into the modern school practice with the help of information and communication technologies.

Abstract:
Using an online survey that was completed by 58 persons from around the globe, the gaps have been identified in knowledge and operational expectations of coatings presently in service, as well as of coatings that may be under consideration for future service. A database of about 500 references on pipeline coatings has been developed in Reference Manager(R) based on published literature and on a search of records. In order to facilitate transfer of data from Reference Manager(R) to MS ACCESS(R), another widely used software package, a program has been written using Visual Basic. Using this program, all databases (including those developed in previous GRI projects) in Reference Manager(R), can be converted into MS ACCESS(R). Based on the comparison between practical requirements and scientific knowledge, action plans for filling the gaps have been prioritized. The prioritized list and the rationale for the prioritization are described in this report.
