Abstract:
The goal of the article is to implement the CTR Dairy model using the Visual Basic for Application (VBA) language of Microsoft Excel. CTR Dairy is a dynamic simulation model for grazing lactating dairy cows that predicts milk production and profit over feeding based on ruminal digestion and absorption of nutrients under discontinuous feeding schedules. The CTR Dairy model was originally developed as a research tool using a proprietary computer simulation software called SMART that required the SMART client to run the program. As SMART software is now discontinued, and its client is no longer available, rewriting the model in the VBA language using Microsoft Excel for inputs and outputs makes the program available to a broad range of users including dairy farmers, extension advisors, dairy nutrition consultants and researchers. Dairy farmers can use the new version of the CTR Dairy program to manipulate the herbage allowance and the access time to the grazing paddock, as well as the timing of supplemental feeding, to improve the utilization of the pasture and to increase the production of the milk.

Abstract:
This article reports an investigation into undergraduate student experiences and views of a visual or ‘blocks' based programming language and its environment. An additional and central aspect of this enquiry is to substantiate the perceived degree of transferability of programming skills learnt within the visual environment to a typical mainstream textual language. Undergraduate students were given programming activities and examples covering four basic programming concepts based on the Sense programming language which is intended to simplify programming. Sense programming statements are represented by blocks which only fit together in ways that produce a meaningful syntactic outcome, which may lower the cognitive barrier to learning. Students were also presented with concepts represented using an equivalent textual construct and asked to consider their understanding of these based on the graphical cases. They were finally asked to complete a short online survey. This paper presents the programming activities, the survey and an analysis of the results.

Permissions setting on a computer is necessary. This is an effort that is not easy to change the system configuration or settings changed by the user. With a network of computers, of course, permissions settings do not need to be done one by one manually. Because in a computer network course there are many collections of computers connected together. Permissions setting so that the system can use the client-server applications that access restrictions can be done effectively. As the implementation of client-server applications can be created using Visual Basic 6.0. This language has been able to access the socket on the Windows operating system, named Winsock API that supports TCP / IP. This protocol is widely used because of the reliability of client-server application programming. The application is divided into two main applications, namely the client and server program name with the name of the Receiver Sender program. Receiver function receives instructions restriction of access rights Sender and sends reports to the Sender process execution. While Sender functions to send instructions restrictions permissions via the Registry to the Receiver. And after the test, the application can block important features available in the Windows operating system. So it is expected that these applications can help in permissions setting on a computer network.

Abstract:
In a complicated leveling-network, it was often simple to write manually the equations to express all the condition that must be met for a conditional adjustment. Therefore conditional adjustment which was straightforward and regularity in its development and solution.was early becoming very popular . But with the advent of the computer technology, it was gradually reducing its effects which was not well suited to computers for its equations not unique and shapes diversity. Based on this, an available leveling-network conditional adjustment program was developed to solve the problem of conditional diversity. By aid of transferring matrix, the program design scheme of the conditional adjustment was proposed by means of visual basic language platform. The coefficient matrix of the conditional equations was written out based on transferring vectors and arithmetic rules. The normal equations were solved by method from Guassian main column eliminated. The Residuals and the measuring precision was achieved by the results from the normal equation back substituted to conditional equation. The application shows that conditional adjustment by transmitting matrix can simplify procedure of writing the conditional equations, and easily program for conditional adjustment.

Abstract:
Complex mathematical problems have been solved with the aid of software application to obtain reliable results. The positional kinematic analysis of a slider crank mechanism involves computation of the motion parameters: linear displacement, velocity and acceleration of the slider; and angular velocity and angular acceleration of the connecting rod for every 300 variation of the crank angle. This study aimed to develop a customized software which can be used to efficiently analyse a given design of a four-bar and a slider-crank mechanisms. A program was written using VB (Visual Basic) programming language for the equations of angular velocities and angular acceleration of the coupler and follower for the four-bar linkage and the linear velocity and acceleration of the piston for the slider crank mechanism. The program was tested with different parameters for the mechanisms and the solutions compared with the results from manual calculations. The findings revealed that there were no differences (p ≤ 0.05) between the results using the program and manual calculations, which imply the accuracy of the program. It can be concluded that the program could be used to solve problems of four- bar linkage and slider-crank mechanisms.

Abstract The new paradigms of parametric modelling have been proving promising on the advance of systems for analysis and design of taut (or tensile) structures. With this premise, the presented work consist on the development with a form-finding tool for Computer Aided Design(CAE) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) integration using VPL (Visual Programming Language), in the context of parametric modelling. The methods used in the implementation are the Force Density Method (FDM) and the Natural Force Density Method (NFDM), taking advantage of the linear solution approach provided, suitable for fast form-finding computational procedures. The program is implemented as a Grasshopper plug-in and it is named BATS (Basic Analysis of Taut Structures), which enables parametric definition of boundary conditions for the form-finding. The program structure and benchmarks with other available Grasshopper plug-ins for taut structures form-finding are presented, showing considerably superior performance using BATS.

Abstract:
Aim. The article deals with developing software to simulate the motion of an object with the given parameters of initial and final phase status. Materials and methods. A motion error in sports exercise is the result of kinematic deviation from the parameters of a given motion program. The mathematical apparatus of adaptive control allows neutralizing motion mistakes between a program and a real trajectory. It is based on utilising the information about current parameters of a phase status of a moving object in a mathematical structure of the control function. The article proposes and experimentally proves the hypothesis about the computer synthesis of motions in biomechanical systems based on the mathematical apparatus of adaptive control. In the computational experiments, a mathematical description of an object is based on a well-established law of open-time approximation (A.P. Batenko, 1977), which requires that both velocity and coordinates simultaneously take the given values. Motion time in this law is an uncontrolled parameter. The mathematical model of a moving object is built as a system of a first-order differential equation. Results. A mathematical model describing the motion of a material point with given phase coordinates at the initial and final points in time is implemented in a computer program. The program works based on the integrated development environment Visual Studio Express 2013 and the Visual Basic 2010 language environment. Conclusion. The developed computer model of adaptive control achieves the aim of any motion, which implies transferring an object from a given initial state to the required final state.

There are rare opportunities when solving an easily-understood problem can bring together application of skills taught in diverse courses in a Computer Science (CS) or Management Information Systems (MIS) program. This paper presents such an opportunity in the typical database management systems course taught at the junior or senior level. Specifically, we describe the case study of solving the classical Hospitals/Residents problem in Microsoft Access. The solution, based on classical Gale-Shapely algorithm for the Stable Marriage problem, offers pedagogical opportunities in data modeling, algorithm and data structure considerations for program development, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and embedded SQL (Structured Query Language) programming, and empirical analysis of running time complexity of algorithms that work remarkably well in teaching students the value of each tool in the toolset they take away from required courses as a part of their undergraduate education in CS or MIS.

Abstract:
Aim. The article deals with developing a computer program to simulate the movement of the object with a given initial and final speed and fixed travel time. Materials and methods. The analysis, as a method of biomechanics, allows us to assess the biomechanical state of the athlete in real sports exercises. The function of motion synthesis is the ability to predict the trajectory and behavior of the biomechanical system at specified reference points of the phase structure of the simulated motion. The article deals with one of the methods of biomechanical synthesis of movements: synthesis of control of the final state of biomechanical systems, based on the reduction of finite control to a given program control after attenuation of the transient component of acceleration. The mathematical description of the object motion is based on the known law of finite control with feedback. Integration of the mathematical model constructed in the form of the differential equation of the second order was carried out by one of the numerical methods of integration: Runge–Kutta method of the fourth order of accuracy. Consideration of the method is based on a mathematical apparatus describing the motion of a material point, which can be represented by a common center of mass of a biomechanical system, a joint, a center of mass of a segment, etc. Results. The mathematical model of the motion of a material point with the given kinematic parameters of motion at the initial and final moments is implemented in a computer program in the Visual Basic 2010 language environment based on the integrated development environment Visual Studio Express 2013. The output provides numerical and visual support for simulation results. Conclusion. It is shown that the developed computer model of the method always implements the goal of motion: to transfer an object from a given initial state by speed to a given final state for a fixed time of movement.

Recent developments in technology have changed the learner’s profile and the learning outcomes. Today, with the emergence of higher-order thinking skills and computer literacy skills, teaching through traditional methods is likely to fail to achieve the learning outcomes. That is why; teachers and teacher candidates are expected to have computer literacy skills. Programming is the main focus of this study since it is an important part of computer literacy. The study aims to analyze mathematics education students’ skills in the process of programming and their practices of integrating it into their teaching. The participants of the study are 42 third grade students of an Elementary Mathematics Education Program of a state university in Turkey. Within the study in which theory and practice was carried out simultaneously, the participants were taught the basics of programming and the algorithms with C programming language. The teacher candidates put the theoretical knowledge into practice using the visual programming application by MIT App Inventor at the computer laboratory. In addition, they used the MIT App Inventor visual programming environment to develop programs they will use in teaching mathematics in groups. Given the component of teaching of programming during this process, it is considered that the process of teaching in question will be effective in planning the teaching process of future studies. The reason is that not only it analyses the development of the variables used in this study but also because it takes into consideration the opinions of teacher candidates.

Abstract:
In the process of processing the results of experimental studies of any, in particular, technical processes, there is a necessity to establish a correlation between independent and dependent variables. During the analysis of experimental data, such a connection is established by using certain computer programs. The authors proposed the App program. 1 to calculate the parameters of ten empirical regression equations using the method of least squares, which is developed in the Visual Studio programming environment in the C# (Сі Sharp) programming language using the “Windows Form Application” framework using Windows operating systems. This program can be used in processing the results of studies conducted both according to the classical, and factorial (rational) plans. Making analysis data of experiments, conducted according to the factor plan with the help of this program the parameters of partial empirical dependencies of the studied factor Y on independent external factors are determined. The basic version of the method of creating an empirical multifactorial model of multiple nonlinear correlations based on the data obtained by the method of rational planning of the experiment is the version proposed in the work "Methodology of processing the results of a factorial experiment". The authors supplemented this method by determining the parameters of partial empirical dependencies based on logarithmic experimental data for averaging of which the geometric mean is used for each independent factor. It is proposed to determine the parameters of partial empirical dependencies, which are used to create a multifactorial model, based on the antilogarithms of the averaged values.

Abstract:
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software is often used to study fluid flow and structures motion in fluids. The CFD normally requires large size of arrays and computer memory and then caused long execution time. However, Innovation of computer hardware such as multi-cores processor provides an alternative solution to improve this programming performance. This paper discussed loop parallelize multi-cores processor for optimization of sequential looping CFD code. This loop parallelize CFD was achieved by applying multi-tasking or multi-threading code into the original CFD code which was developed by one of the authors. The CFD code was developed based on Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) method. The new CFD code program was developed using Microsoft Visual Basic (VB) programming language. In the early stage, the whole CFD code was constructed in a sequential flow before it is modified to parallel flow by using VBs multi-threading library. In the comparison, fluid flow around the hull of round-shaped FPSO was selected to compare the performance of both the programming codes. Besides, executed results of this self-developed code such as pressure distribution around the hull were also presented in this paper.

Abstract:
A general solution satisfying the strain-displacement relation, the stress-strain laws and the equilibrium conditions has been obtained in Stroh formalism for the generalized two-dimensional anisotropic elasticity. The general solution contains three arbitrary complex functions which are the basis of the whole field stresses and deformations. By selecting these arbitrary functions to be linear or quadratic, and following the direct finite element formulation, a new finite element satisfying both the compatibility and equilibrium within each element is developed in this paper. A computer windows program is then coded by using the FORTRAN and Visual Basic languages. Two numerical examples are shown to illustrate the performance of this newly developed finite element. One is the uniform stress field problem, the other is the stress concentration problem.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTA set of computer programs has been developed to draw chemical-equilibrium diagrams. This new software is the Java-language equivalent to the Medusa/Hydra software (developed some time ago in Visual basic at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden). The main program, now named “Spana” calls Java programs based on the HaltaFall algorithm. The equilibrium constants that are needed for the calculations may be retrieved from a database included in the software package (“Database” program). This new software is intended for undergraduate students as well as researchers and professionals. The “Spana” code can be easily applied to perform radionuclide speciation and solubility calculations of minerals, including solubility calculations relevant for the performance assessment of a nuclear waste repository. In order to handle ionic strength corrections in such calculations several approaches can be applied. The “Spana” code is able to perform calculations based on three models: the Davies equation; an approximation to the model by Helgeson et al. (HKF); and the Specific Ion-Interaction Theory (SIT). Default SIT-coefficients may be used, which widens the applicability of SIT significantly.A comparison is made here among the different ionic strength approaches used by “Spana” (Davies, HKF, SIT) when modelling the chemistry of radionuclides and minerals of interest under the conditions of a geological repository for nuclear waste. For this purpose, amorphous hydrous Thorium(IV) oxide (ThO2(am)), Gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) and Portlandite (Ca(OH)2) solubility at high ionic strengths have been modelled and compared to experimental data from the literature. Results show a good fitting between the calculated values and the experimental data especially for the SIT approach in a wide range of ionic strengths (0-4 M).

Abstract:
Finite Element Method (FEM) is one of the most commonly used numerical analysis method for the structural analysis. The axially symmetric cylindrical shell walls analysis can be made by using FEM or similarity of beams on elastic foundation. The Superposition Method (SPM) is a method developed for the analysis of beams and can be employed in the analysis of cylindrical shell walls. In the analyses using FEM, there are some assumptions and boundaries for preparing mathematical models. One of these boundaries for shell walls is aspect ratio. In this study, it is investigated, the aspect ratio factor for FEM analysis of axially symmetric cylindrical shell walls. For that reason the FEM analysis results are compared with the Superposition Method (SPM). In order to obtain exact solution of cylindrical shell walls, the effects of loadings is calculated and defined to the computer program, which is developed for SPM analysis by using Visual Basic programming language. According to analysis results, aspect ratio has a significantly effect on analysis results. Also, it is occurred minor difference in the FEM analysis results even if in case of obeying the rules.

Abstract:
Computation of view factors is required in several building engineering applications where radiative exchange takes place between surfaces such as ground and vertical walls or ground and sloping thermal or photovoltaics collectors. In this paper, view factor computations are performed for bifacial solar photovoltaic (PV) collectors based on the finite element method (FEM) using two programming languages known as Microsoft Excel-Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Python. The aim is to determine the computer response time as well as the performance of the two languages in terms of accuracy and convergence of the numerical solution. To run the simulations in Python, an open source just-in-time (JIT) compiler called Numba was used and the same program was also run as a macro in VBA. It was observed that the simulation response time significantly decreased in Python when compared to VBA. This decrease in time was due to the increase in the total number of iterations from 400 million to 250 billion for a given case. Results demonstrated that Python was 71–180 times faster than VBA and, therefore, offers a better programming platform for the view factor analysis and modelling of bifacial solar PV where computation time is a significant modelling challenge.

Abstract:
A study has been done to represent the pressure changes along gathering system in pipelines transporting Iraqi's crude oils; the study is divided into four parts. The first part represents the calculations of pressure drop in pipelines transporting petroleum fluid from the well head to a gathering point. In this part, there is a two-phase flow (gas and liquid). The calculations of pressure change in this part depends upon determination of some properties such as liquid and gas density, liquid and gas viscosity, liquid hold up and friction factor. Determining the liquid hold up and then pressure drop are achieved using two methods, the first method is modified Beggs and Brill correlation, depending on three assumed flow patterns. The second is Aziz et al. correlation, depending on three flow patterns also but are different to that of modified Beggs and Brill. While a method of Colebrook used in determination of two-phase friction factor. The results of two-phase flow calculations show that modified Beggs and Brill correlation (having error of 0.26%) better than Aziz et al. correlation (having error of 0.55%). In the second part there are calculations of pressure change in liquid flow in a pipeline from the gathering point to the first stage of separators. In this part Colebrook correlation is used to determine the friction factor, Brill and Mukherjee method is used for calculation of pressure change. Mukherjee and Brill method gave good results with respect to the pressure drop of flow in the axial pipeline after the gathering point of the actual field data. The third part deals with the networking in pipelines, types of gathering systems presented and discussed, the calculations of pressure change in a simple gathering system is studied. The fourth part discusses optimization techniques; Constrained Rosenbrock is used to find optimum pressure which gives favorable oil properties. They have been achieved with some assumptions; they are: Minimum Produced gas oil ratio. Minimum formation volume factor. Maximum API gravity. Finally, two computer programs are developed. Each program performs all the calculations of the four parts. The first program is developed using FORTRAN language, while the second is developed using Visual Basic language.

Abstract:
Abstract The author’s approach, based on the technology of control actions, is proposed for the interface display of the algorithm for the operation of an automatic tugboat with an azimuth rudder and a hazard assessment function. To define the object as presumably dangerous, the article used the formulas of the direct and inverse navigation problems. To compare the coordinates of the vessel and the perceived “hazard”, one first needs to enter data, process the information, and display information that is understandable for the decision-maker. To eliminate the misunderstanding of this situation, the operation of the danger prevention algorithm was demonstrated using the visual basic programming language as an example. When constructing an algorithm for the safe movement of the vessel and the existing danger, each object, even a stand-alone one, has many coordinate points. Knowing the number of points of coordinates of the vessel and “danger”, they were taken as n and m, respectively. The algorithm searches for the optimal point-object. The scheme of interaction of the components of the automatic tug azimuth model (ABA) is proposed. It is based on a Raspberry Pi single-board computer with an Arduino Mega board connected to it. A program has been written to control the ABA model using omnidirectional wheels to simulate maneuvering on water.

Abstract:
Whenever there are substantial variations in the quantity of demands within a metropolitan water network, it is necessary to assess the pipe network to aid the water utilities in decision making. Variability in demand exists every time new industries or residences are connected to the network. In cases where no analyses are done prior to making new connections, unnecessarily huge funds are incurred and use of unreasonably bigger pipes is inevitable, some of which may stay redundant. The present study aims at developing a user-friendly numerical hydraulics model for analysing compound pipe networks. The model was developed using the V-Model approach, written in visual basic language to resolve the elementary pipe system equations using the improved Hardy Cross method. This program examines steady-state flows, head losses, flow velocities, and pressures for single, two, three, and four loop water distribution networks. The four-loop example represents the entire network of the case study area in consideration. The comparative study conducted on results from the program and EPANET indicated consistency in the results as coefficient of determinant, R^2, for all the computed variables was approximately unity (1). The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Bias Error (MBE) were found to be reasonably so small. Therefore, it can be concluded from the statistical analysis that the model is reliable for the analysis of a water network consisting of 1, 2, 3, and 4 closed loops.

Abstract:
RSU Elpi Al-Aziz is an agency engaged in public health services. At RSU Elpi Al-Aziz, in providing services to patients, drug data collection, prescriptions and reports are still done manually or not computerized. Patient data storage media using paper media resulting in the search for data is done by browsing the archives that can take time and prescription making is still done by handwriting where there can be errors recording and making reports related to medical records are still done manually by recording patient data through archives that can take time but it is vulnerable to errors. To support the development method of Medical Record Information System that is made now the author uses the waterfall method by using system development tools in the form of flowcharts, context diagrams, DFD, and database design tools proposed in the form of ERD. As well as data collection techniques with research methods by observation, interviews and literature studies. Implementation of the computer program used in this medical record information system using Visual Basic 2010 programming language with MySQL database that provides facilities to facilitate the process of making information systems and product implementation. The Information System created can overcome the problems that exist in RSU Elpi-Aziz. Storage Media, processing of patient data, medical records, and drugs have been computerized so that the process of public health services can be done quickly and avoid mistakes and facilitate performance at RSU Elpi Al-Aziz.

Abstract:
Climate change effects increase the scarcity of irrigation water and deterioration of its quality, which affects the crop water requirements. Researchers were studying the water recycling technique and finding about other possible renewable water resources for irrigation, they conclude that saline water can be used to meet part of the irrigation water needs for many crops under special field management, because there are many crops have a high tolerance to the salinity without decreasing in the yield. The current study aims to evaluate the economic yield of saline drainage water in irrigation. A computer program (Fıuat Ujaj) using Visual Basic language was constructed to use the largest possible amount of drainage water for irrigation after removing the toxic effects and then calculates the relative yield of the selected crops. The Main Outflow Drain (MOD) in Iraq was selected as a saline water resource which has 4.63 dS m-1 Electrical Conductivity (EC). This saline water contained high concentrations of chlorine and sodium ions. MFUP results showed that toxic effect of these ions can be removed by diluting with 35% of the nearby river water. MFUP results showed that the crops with high and medium tolerance to salinity give an acceptable yield ratio when they were irrigated with diluted water (35%) to remove toxicity effects only, while the dilution increases for crops of medium sensitivity, but the acceptable yield of sensitive crops is not achieved except with fresh river water. If the crop production is lower than the economically acceptable limit, another 5% of the river water will be added to mitigate, and the dilution process continues until the percentage of the river water become 80% of the irrigation water. If the required product is not achieved, then the program instructs to irrigate this crop with the river water only.

Abstract:
The recognition of hypoxia symptoms is a critical part of physiological training in military aviation. Acute exposure protocols have been designed in hypobaric chambers to train aircrews to recognize hypoxia and quickly take corrective actions. The goal of the acute hypoxia test is to know the time of useful consciousness and the minimal arterial oxygen saturation tolerated. Currently, there is no computer system specifically designed to analyze the physiological variables obtained during the test. This paper reports the development and analytical capabilities of a computational tool specially designed for these purposes. The procedure was designed using the Igor Pro 8.01 language, which processes oxygen saturation and heart rate signals. To accomplish this, three functional boards are displayed. The first allows the loading and processing of the data. The second generates graphs that allow for a rapid visual examination to determine the validity of individual records and calculate slopes on selected segments of the recorded signal. Finally, the third can apply filters to generate data groups for analysis. In addition, this tool makes it possible to propose new study variables that are derived from the raw signals and can be applied simultaneously to large data sets. The program can generate graphs accompanied by basic statistical parameters and heat maps that facilitate data visualization. Moreover, there is a possibility of adding other signals during the test, such as the oxygenation level in vital organs, electrocardiogram, or electroencephalogram, which illustrates the test’s excellent potential for application in aerospace medicine and for helping us develop a better understanding of complex physiological phenomena.
