A computer software on solid/solid reaction kinetics, KinPreSSR, is one of subsystems in the software, Intellectualized Database Management System on Kinetics of Metallurgy (IDMSKM). KinPreSSR is a Windows application developed using Visual C++ and FoxPro, and includes two main modules, “DIFFUSION” and “REACTION”. The ‘DIFFUSION’ module includes two sub-modules of “database management system (DBMS)” and "Evaluation & prediction". The “DBMS” deals with the diffusion coefficients gathered from reported documents and the data evaluated according to some rules, besides, it can provide users with retrieval of diffusion coefficients. Based on the solutions to the Fick’s first law and the Fick’s second law in the four typical critical conditions, the "Evaluation & prediction" sub-module gives the predication of concentration distribution after diffusion process in solids or computation for diffusion coefficient.

KinPreSSR is a Windows application developed using Visual C++ and FoxPro, and includes two main modules, “DIFFUSION” and “REACTION”. KinPreSSR deals with the kinetics on the diffusion in solid state as well as solid/solid reactions. In the ‘REACTION’ module, the system has organized the commonly recognized kinetic models, parameters and employed both numerical and graphical methods for data analyses. The proper combination between the kinetic contents and the analytical methods enables users to use KinPreSSR for the evaluation and prediction of solid/solid reactions interested. The ‘DIFFUSION’ module includes two sub-modules of “database management system (DBMS)” and "Evaluation & prediction". Abstract:
Abstract. A new version of the European catalogue of tsunamis is presented here. It differs from the latest release of the catalogue that was produced in 1998 and is known as GITEC tsunami catalogue in some important aspects. In the first place, it is a database built on the Visual FoxPro 6.0 DBMS that can be used and maintained under the PC operating systems currently available. Conversely, the GITEC catalogue was compatible only with Windows 95 and older PC platforms. In the second place, it is enriched by new facilities and a new type of data, such as a database of pictures that can be accessed easily from the main screen of the catalogue. Thirdly, it has been updated by including the newly published references. Minute and painstaking search for new data has been undertaken to re-evaluate cases that were not included in the GITEC catalogue, though they were mentioned in previous catalogues; the exclusion was motivated by a lack of data. This last work has focused so far on Italian cases of the last two centuries. The result is that at least two events have been found which deserve inclusion in the new catalogue: one occurred in 1809 in the Gulf of La Spezia, and the other occurred in 1940 in the Gulf of Palermo. Two further events are presently under investigation.

Abstract:
PurposeThe article seeks to enrich the body of research on store atmospherics by identifying how storefront window design impacts store entry decisions. An innovative multimodal design approach is presented, considering both visual and verbal constituents.Design/methodology/approachStudy 1 draws on a corpus of high-end storefront windows to create a categorization regarding different levels of verbo-visual complexity. The survey in Study 2 (n = 234) serves two purposes: first, to confirm these levels of complexity and second, to investigate the relation between the complexity of window design and store entry decisions.FindingsStudy 2 confirms the order of complexity established in Study 1. The results reveal an inverted-U relationship between window complexity and store entry propensity. Windows of medium level of complexity produce shoppers' relatively highest store entry propensity.Practical implicationsThe findings suggest that retailers would benefit from adopting verbo-visual window designs of medium complexity, as this combination optimizes the likeliness of consumers to enter stores.Originality/valueResearch on store atmospherics has until recently primarily focused on in-store cues. Studies on store windows remain vastly underrepresented in extant scholarship. The article not only fills this gap but also incorporates an original interdisciplinary angle on multimodality, which offers new methodological perspectives for research in retail and distribution scholarship.

Abstract:
Primer KoperasiTribuana II is a business entity (cooperative) under the auspices of Group 2 Kopassus, Kartasura, Sukoharjo. This cooperative was established to meet the needs of members, both from an economic, social and cultural perspective. Primer KoperasiTribuana II was founded on September 14, 1968 under the name Primkopad H-09. This cooperative has changed its name several times, and the last name uses the Primary KoperasiTribuana II. In an effort to meet the needs of the members, the Tribuana II Primary Cooperative carries out several activities, including savings and loans and sales of daily necessities (shops). In fulfilling the needs, especially for stores, the Tribuana II Primary Cooperative sells goods which in its activities are still using the old method (manual). This is considered very ineffective and efficient and can not increase sales profit in a relatively fast time. For that we need a system that can help smooth the sale of goods. In solving this problem, the authors designed a sales information system. In this design, the author uses the Visual FoxPro programming language. The method in this research is waterfal method. The method in this research is through interviews, observation and literature study. The system design is made with context diagrams, HIPO, input output design and Data Flow Design. The system is created in a program with the Visual FoxPro programming language with a database format using MySQL. The result of this design is to produce an application program that will be used for the web-based sales process at the Tribuana II Primary Cooperative and it is hoped that it will facilitate daily transaction activities and compile reports to be faster and more efficient.

Abstract:
In today's era, information systems are an important factor in a company, one of which is in the field of archiving. Archiving at the State Electricity Company (SEC) Rayon Rancaekek still uses a semi-computerized method, which raises several problems, namely difficulty in finding data, not yet integrated transaction files with reports so that reports cannot be generated automatically, the length of the data calculation process because it is still done manually, there is a risk of data being double input and deleted, as well as lost or damaged documents. The purpose of this final project is to simplify data retrieval, integrate transaction files with reports so that reports can be presented after the transaction process, streamline the calculation of archived data, avoid double input and deleted data, and anticipate lost or damaged documents. The research and system development method used is the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model. This system is made using Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 and FoxPro database. System analysis and design tools used in this final project are Flow map, Data Flow Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), database relation schema, and Structure Chart. With the system design made, it can be concluded that the search for archive data becomes easier, all files are integrated so that reports can be presented at any time, the data calculation process can be carried out more effectively, double input data and the risk of data loss can be anticipated, as well as loss and damage data can be anticipated.

Full text
Abstract:
Acoustical changes in the prosody of mothers’ speech to infants are distinct and near universal. However, less is known about the visible properties of mothers’ infant-directed (ID) speech, and their relation to speech acoustics. Mothers’ head movements were tracked as they interacted with their infants using ID speech, and compared to movements accompanying their adult-directed (AD) speech. Movement measures along three dimensions of head translation, and three axes of head rotation were calculated. Overall, more head movement was found for ID than AD speech, suggesting that mothers exaggerate their visual prosody in a manner analogous to the acoustical exaggerations in their speech. Regression analyses examined the relation between changing head position and changing acoustical pitch (F0) over time. Head movements and voice pitch were more strongly related in ID speech than in AD speech. When these relations were examined across time windows of different durations, stronger relations were observed for shorter time windows (< 5 sec). However, the particular form of these more local relations did not extend or generalize to longer time windows. This suggests that the multimodal correspondences in speech prosody are variable in form, and occur within limited time spans.

It considers the development of non-hierarchical systems for the organisation of information, and uses Grosse Fatigue to draw comparisons between the Web, the natural history museum and the archive. At stake in focusing on the way in which information is organised through hypermedia is the question of subjectivity, and this article argues that such systems are made ‘user-friendly’ by appearing to accommodate intuitive processes of information retrieval, reflecting the subject back to itself as autonomous. This produces an ideology of individualism which belies the forms of heteronomy that in fact shape and structure access to information online in significant ways. At the heart of this argument is an attention to the visual, and the significance of art as an immanent mode of analysis. Through the themes of transparency and opacity, and order and chaos, the article thus proposes a defining dynamic between autonomy and automation as a model for understanding the contemporary subject.

Abstract:
real estate.

Abstract:
AbstractThe increased presence of Europeans in Safavid Persia and especially in the capital city of Isfahan during the seventeenth century would imply the production of a kaleidoscope of observations of the foreigners. The scarcity of written Persian views on their European guests in contrast to the abundance of European chronicles about Safavid society has further fueled the expectation of 'oriental' apathy in modern historiography. In contrast to the discursive sources, Persian pictorial evidence of the European presence in Persia is surprisingly rich. This article focuses on a genre of Persian painting in which figural subject matter alludes to a sexual peculiarity of Europeans as observed by the people of Isfahan. The social agency of such pictures and their efficacy as historical sources allow us to tease out the different ways Safavid urban society observed the Europeans and lodged a cultural critique on aspects of their sexual behavior even before the emergence of Persian polemics on the Christian practice of celibacy.

Abstract:
Abstract That aesthetic experience can be encountered almost anywhere enables use of a wide range of everyday encounters with visual culture in teaching art; vernacular still-life arrangements can be a rich resource in teaching students to see as artists see. Here, I make this argument through one case, the looking-and-writing assignments in an undergraduate elementary-education course. I propose a framework for including shop-window designs as visual-culture teaching resources, arguing that the artful compositions in shop windows can introduce and explore traditional subjects in painting. The article addresses two questions: (a) Can art-novice students respond to shop-window compositions with innovative interpretations, using art-appropriate terms? (b) Does student interpretation of paintings as commercial communication encourage defensible interpretations of artworks? After a brief review of some still-life principles, Dewey’s concept of aesthetic experience, and a concept of how framing operates conceptually in the museum setting, some examples of art-novice interpretations of downtown imagery provide the background to questions for further research.

Full text
Abstract:
Carbon black (CB) is used in polyethylene (PE) pipes to protect against thermal and photooxidation. However, when CB is not properly dispersed in the PE matrix during processing, white regions having little or no CB concentration, known as “windows,” appear within the CB/PE mixed black compound. In some cases, windows can drastically affect the structural integrity of both the pipe and butt fusion joint. In this work, PE pipes with varying amounts of windows were investigated for their characteristic window patterns, as well as quantifying the area fraction of windows (% windows). Tensile test on specimens with known % windows determined a critical limit above which the fracture strain rapidly degrades. Micro-tensile and micro-indentation results showed tear initiation at the window–black PE matrix boundary; however, they did not confirm the mechanism of tear initiation. In support of this work, a method of making thin shavings of a whole pipe cross section was developed, and the best viewing windows under cross-polarized monochromatic light were identified. In addition, a phased array ultrasonic test (PAUT) and microwave imaging (MWI) were directly applied to the pipe and confirmed the presence and patterns of the windows.

Abstract:
Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) maps present a faithful image of the Earth’s surface. A stereo edge violation occurs when an object appears to be in front of the screen and is cut off by the screen edge. Two designs are proposed to remove this artifact. One applies dynamic floating windows which cover the contents existing alone on the left or right edges of images. The other is to transform all the horizontal disparities to positive values; all the perceived 3D contents are behind the screen. This study compares the two designs with respect to user preference and visual fatigue. For the selected terrain scenes, participants preferred the design of pushing back to the design of dynamic floating windows. For visual fatigue, the design of dynamic floating windows obtained higher scores in Simplified Simulator Sickness Questionnaires (SSSQs) and General Eye Symptoms Questionnaires (GESQs), which indicated higher visual fatigue. This preliminary study observed that for removing edge violation of interactive S3D maps, the design of setting 3D contents behind the screen might be better than the design of dynamic floating windows in terms of user preference and visual fatigue.
