Fatty acid transport protein (FATP)2, a member of the FATP family of fatty acid uptake mediators, has independently been identified as a hepatic peroxisomal very long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase (VLACS). Here we address whether FATP2 is 1) a peroxisomal enzyme, 2) a plasma membrane-associated long-chain fatty acid (LCFA) transporter, or 3) a multifunctional protein. We found that, in mouse livers, only a minor fraction of FATP2 localizes to peroxisomes, where it contributes to approximately half of the peroxisomal VLACS activity. Abstract:
The paper analyzes archaic and borrowed elements of the tradition among the Serbs in the south of the region of Negotin, where they live in the neighboring villages with Vlach ones. Over the past two centuries, contacts between the Serbs and Vlachs (Romanians by origin) have been so intensive that this has affected even the most conservative part of ritual and magical practice: the funeral and memorial rites. Among the archaic elements of culture the paper focuses on spells and ritual-magical amulets the analysis of which showed that in the verbal part of the spells the common South Slavic bas

The essay interprets four parts of Mihai Sadoveanu’s 1933 enigmatical novel The Golden Bough. The Dacian section focuses on the way geographical, historical, ethnical and social guide marks are introduced to define an uncertain moment in history, the late eighth century in the Carpathians. It also introduces the impetus that must have driven the author to do so and continues with an intertextual comparative reading with Eminescu’s poem The Ghosts, particularly on the depiction of the magus and the unexpected reasons behind the author’s choice, i. e. the Viking pathway. Example conversation maps of nine VLSCs are presented. The left atrial size increases (LAS) in patients with mitral valve disease (MVD) as the disease progresses. The vertebral left atrial size (VLAS), the modified-vertebral left atrial size (M-VLAS), and the radiographic left atrial dimension (RLAD) are methods reported to assess LAS on dogs’ radiographs. All these methods transform the LAS into vertebral units. The thoracic inlet (TI) has been used as a reliable reference point to measure the cardiac silhouette of dogs with MVD in different stages. Eighty-six VLAs occurred in 29 out of 335 VLBW infants. Eighteen of the 29 infants had a clinical event or condition possibly related to the VLA. Nowadays, the demand for connection between the remote offices of a company, or between research locations, and constantly increasing work mobility (partly due to the current pandemic emergency) have grown hand in hand with the quality and speed of broadband connections. The logical consequence of this scenario is the increasingly widespread use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections. They allow one to securely connect the two ends of a connection via a dedicated network, typically using the Internet and reducing the costs of Content Delivery Network (CDN) lines (dedicated connections).

Background Cnidarians are the most ancient venomous organisms. They store a cocktail of venom proteins inside unique stinging organelles called nematocysts. When a cnidarian encounters chemical and physical cues from a potential threat or prey animal, the nematocyst is triggered and fires a harpoon-like tubule to penetrate and inject venom into the prey. Nematocysts are present in all Cnidaria, including the morphologically simple Myxozoa, which are a speciose group of microscopic, spore-forming, obligate parasites of fish and invertebrates. Rather than predation or defense, myxozoans use nema
