The attitude was led by two circumstances: firstly, the lack of workers of technical professions; secondly, the wish to hold the training of new technical professions in their hands. This paper tries to show the influence of pre-vocational training and of the allocation of grants at the preparatory level, on students registration at the University Institute for Teacher Training of Bourgogne (I.U.F.M.). That influence is firstly quantitative : a majority of I.U.F.M. 's students have encountered pre-vocational training. A survey was made of the recipients of 31 vocational aids developed by the Rehabilitation Engineering Center at the Smith–Kettlewell Institute. Replies were received for 77 percent of the devices. Of these, 92 percent were still being used regularly. Data concerning the frequency of use, reliability, positive/negative features, etc were compiled and analyzed.
