Full textVerbal language has traditionally been communicated by two means: speech and writing. In the twentieth century, however, a third means came into existence: transmitted language. Initially this consisted mostly of language “spoken at a distance” (telephone, radio, cinema, television), but it then extended to include language “written at a distance” (Internet sites, electronic mail, online chat, SMS). Technological progress was followed by a transformation of the language, and the code has been adapted to the different media used to convey it. Electronic technologies of the word, as Spina notes (2001: 31), have given a new impetus to the oral mode of communication, based on the spoken word.At the end of the 19th century, the invention of the telephone was a real breakthrough, allowing the creation of new, and previously unavailable, forms of communication. Today, little more than a century later, the phone has exceeded even its traditional limitations and to the transmission of sound has been added the ability to write short text messages, and even to send e-mail. The spread of SMS communication has transformed an instrument devoted to oral exchange into a technology of writing: in fact, the originality of the support allows text messaging, despite its written nature, to reproduce the morphological structures of oral interaction. Thus, the speed of composing the message is not the only property that allows texting to approach orality: the syntax is often seen as rather basic, with a predominance of parataxis and elliptical constructions rather than hypotaxis, features that are typical of spoken discourse. But texting also plays on communicative purpose by adopting a more informal register and thus fostering a new language. The present thesis, while not the first study to analyze a corpus of SMS, is surely one of the first to compare the types of processes found in both languages, French and Italian, in order to define parallel mechanisms and differences

Full textIn this bachelor thesis, we investigate how, with the help of virtual reality (VR), we can create a factory environment and experience that increases the safety thinking for new employees at Volvo in Olofström. The survey is based on our collaboration with Volvo and their own factory, which is in focus where they have wanted a safety training in VR for their new employees and pedestrians in the factory. With the help of the design perspective digital didactic design, we have been able to put the focus on learning in practice, to plan and create activities for someone so that the user in question can acquire new knowledge. The question in this study is "How to create a factory environment within VR that promotes learning." With the help of the methods we chose for the design process, we were able to design a factory that simulates theirs and also promote learning for safety thinking, which was an important part to gain insight into. The result of our research is that we have created a prototype with the help of the game engine Unity through this process that takes the user through a lively and hectic factory environment that reflects what we ourselves have experienced through our observations when we visited Volvo in Olofström. Through our research in VR security, we have raised our understanding of what opportunities VR has in learning and to convey information. Strategic Planning is one of the most used management tools for organizations, to translate strategy, define their objectives, identify existing bottlenecks and project to the necessary changes, for the growth of the organization and its permanence in the market. Indicators are allied to planning and essential to process control, because they make it possible to establish and monitor the achievement of goals, to correct problems and to suggest propositions. In this way, one can see the importance of measuring the results, either to refer to values or to serve as an element of control. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the actions outlined in the strategic planning of the Nursing School of Manaus, through the performance management tool 6Es. The research about the nature was characterized as of the applied type that has practical purpose, as far as the means, bibliographical and documentary. Regarding the purpose, the research was descriptive, and in the form of approach was qualitative and quantitative. The research results showed that the applied methodology allowed to quantify the actions and to visualize the achievement or not of the goals. In the case of the unit studied, the results showed a high degree of effectiveness in the years surveyed, however, some isolated projects were no longer carried out, as well as the environmental guideline that obtained an effectiveness considered low, around 30%. Overall, the result showed that the unit met the targets set in the strategic planning for the period 2012- 2015.
O Planejamento Estratégico é uma das ferramentas de gestão mais utilizadas pelas organizações, para traduzir a estratégia, definir seus objetivos, identificar os gargalos existentes e se projetar às mudanças necessárias, para o crescimento da organização e sua permanência no mercado. Os indicadores são aliados do planejamento e essenciais ao controle dos processos, porque possibilitam estabelecer e acompanhar o alcance das metas, corrigir problemas e sugerir proposições. Desse modo, percebe-se a importância de se mensurar os resultados, seja para referenciar valores ou servir de elemento de controle. O objetivo deste estudo consiste em evidenciar a efetividade das ações delineadas no planejamento estratégico da Escola de Enfermagem de Manaus, por meio da ferramenta de gestão 6Es de desempenho. A pesquisa quanto a natureza foi caracterizada como do tipo aplicada que possui finalidade prática, quanto aos meios, bibliográfica e documental. Quanto à finalidade, a pesquisa foi descritiva, e na forma de abordagem foi qualitativa e quantitativa. O resultado da pesquisa demonstrou que a metodologia aplicada permitiu quantificar as ações e visualizar o atingimento ou não das metas. No caso da unidade estudada, o resultado demonstrou alto grau de efetividade nos anos pesquisados, contudo, alguns projetos isolados deixaram de ser realizados, como da diretriz ambiental que obteve uma efetividade considerada baixa, em torno de 30%. De maneira geral o resultado demonstrou que a unidade alcançou as metas estabelecidas no planejamento estratégico do período de 2012 a 2015.

Esta pesquisa fornece elementos para uma reflexão a todos os que ainda se emocionam em transmitir conhecimento e, ao mesmo tempo aprender grandes lições de vida como humildade, generosidade e, a emoção do aprender "com" o outro. Através das narrativas dos alunos, verifica-se alguns constrangimentos sociais que estes jovens e adultos, excluídos do processo escolar, mas inseridos no mundo do trabalho, toleram diariamente. Tais constrangimentos que os levam a ingressarem no Curso de Educação de Jovens e Adultos em busca de um conhecimento sistematizado, pois já trazem consigo conhecimentos construídos em sua trajetória de vida e que devem ser considerados pelos educadores.

Full textThe Pervasive Computing has been studied on several papers in the last years. This emergent research area presents a vision of future where computational services will be available through uncountable devices scattered across the environment. This service network will be exposed to the users by both traditional wired computers and mobile devices. This distribution of the computing is going to happen smoothly and transparently to the users. Personal data, computer programs, and data files will be available anywhere, anytime. The processing power will be an environment resource and will be accessed whenever needed, in the same way which is the electricity nowadays. The users will no longer need to worry about where their program is being executed, as long as he gets the needed result. The ISAM group believes that this new reality will be achieved through the alliance of research areas such as Grid Computing, Mobile Computing and Context-Aware Computing. The Context-Aware Computing aims to enrich the communication between human being and computer devices. Context-aware applications are capable of recognize the changes on the environment and adapt its own behavior to the new context state. This process can be divided in tree steps: monitoring, context recognition and adaptation. On the monitoring layer, environment information is collected from sensors. Those sensors, however, usually return only low level information, which is hardly used by the applications on its original form. The context recognition layer processes the data acquired from the context and transforms into information aimed to be useful to the adaptation process. With that information the adaptation system can identify the correct behavior for the application on each different context situation. This dissertation propose a context server named MultiS, which target is to solve the problems related to context recognition layer: the production of new context data based on the information of several sensors and the capability of react to changes on the environment. It also presents a new programming language for composition of contextual information, named CD-XML. This language is used by the context-aware applications to communicate to the context server describing which information the application is sensible to.

Full textLas nuevas tecnologías de fabricación digital, permiten producir elementos complejos de manera rápida y eficiente. Una aplicación de estas tecnologías es el desarrollo de vehículos voladores no tripulados. En particular, en el último tiempo interesan los micro vehículos aéreos que se asemejan a los pequeños insectos debido a las ventajas que estos presentan. Estos últimos, entre las características que exhiben es una mayor maniobrabilidad y estabilidad, además que se pueden pilotar en lugares de difícil acceso o peligrosos para una persona. El objetivo de esta memoria es diseñar y construir un mecanismo inspirado en características biológicas de aves o insectos y estudiar perfiles de alas que presenten mejores propiedades aerodinámicas. Para lograr el objetivo se cuenta con diversas fuentes de financiamiento (Fondecyt, ANR-Conicyt, etc.), además de los equipos, software e impresoras de fabricación digital disponibles en el laboratorio de robótica del departamento de ingeniería mecánica de la Universidad de Chile. La metodología consiste en una etapa de recopilación de información y antecedentes relacionados con la aerodinámica, materiales y construcción de robots similares. Luego se diseñarán los distintos componentes mecánicos involucrados, poniendo principal énfasis en el diseño y construcción de las alas del vehículo. Se estudiaron dos perfiles de alas para determinar cual presenta mejores propiedades aerodinámicas. Se midieron experimentalmente el empuje y sustentación que son capaces de generar y se modificaron parámetros en el diseño que influyen en la flexión y torsión de las alas para medir como estos afectan en su desempeño. Se midió en un túnel de viento la sustentación que genera el paso del aire a través de las alas para distintas velocidades de circulación del viento. Con el sistema mecánico definitivo, se realizaron pruebas de vuelo para estudiar la capacidad de vuelo del MAV. Se traslado el centro de masa y el ángulo de ataque de las alas para lograr condiciones de vuelo mas estables. Finalmente se construyó un micro vehículo aéreo el cual logro volar por unos instantes, pero que no fue capaz de mantener un vuelo estable.

O uso de dispositivos móveis como meio de pagamento vem crescendo ao longo dos últimos anos. Embora algumas implantações de carteiras digitais tenham sido bem sucedidas, ainda não existe um padrão a ser utilizado pelo mercado. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma solução para pagamento móvel através da utilização de uma carteira digital. Esta solução deve ser heterogênea, sendo disponibilizada para o maior número possível de dispositivos móveis, como telefones celulares e tablets, e deve permitir o pagamento entre dois usuários sem a necessidade de conexão à internet. O trabalho também leva em consideração as informações de contexto do usuário, e busca oferecer uma solução diferenciada ao usuário final, através da interface da aplicação com um servidor de pedidos, a ser instalado no estabelecimento comercial. A segurança também é um item importante, e o modelo deve prever a utilização de um elemento seguro, garantindo a segurança das informações gravadas no dispositivo. Foi desenvolvido um protótipo da arquitetura proposta, denominado Unipag. O protótipo foi desenvolvido através da avaliação de quatro diferentes soluções de carteira digital, sendo duas soluções acadêmicas e duas soluções comerciais. O protótipo foi desenvolvido inicialmente para o sistema Android, e foram realizadas duas avaliações. A avaliação por cenários demonstrou a utilização com sucesso da aplicação em cenários de pagamento cotidianos. A avaliação de usabilidade demonstrou que o aplicativo é de fácil utilização, e 96% dos usuários utilizariam a aplicação se disponível. Os resultados encorajam o estudo e demonstram a viabilidade da solução.
The use of mobile devices as a payment device has been growing over the last few years. Although some deployments of digital wallets have been successful, there is still no standard to be used by market. This work aims to present a solution for mobile payment through the use of a digital wallet. This solution must be heterogeneous, being made available to the largest possible number of mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets, and should allow payment between two users without internet connection. The solution also considers the context information of the user, and seeks to offer a different solution to the end user through the application interface with a server application to be installed on the premises. Safety is also an important item, and the model should provide for the use of a secure element, ensuring the security of information stored on the device. We developed a prototype of the proposed architecture, called Unipag. The prototype was developed by evaluating four different solutions digital wallet, two academic solutions and two commercial solutions. The prototype was initially developed for the Android system, and were assessed twice. The evaluation scenarios demonstrated the successful use of the application for daily payment scenarios. The usability evaluation demonstrated that the application is easy to use, and 96% of users would use the application if available. The results encourage the study and demonstrate the feasibility of the solution.

Full textThrough this work I aimed at building investigative sceneries for the mathematics lessons from the current researches development carried through the Scientific Initiation Project of the Catarinense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology - Campus of Rio do Sul. In order to reach the objectives set for this research, I developed an educational possibility through the investigation of real life problem-situations, which allowed me to identify and make sense of the analyzed mathematical concepts. The research was based on the Didactic Transposition theory - stated by Chevallard - aiming at getting support to the work in order to adapt and transform the knowledge produced with the projects of Scientific Initiation into a knowledge that can be developed and be produced into the classroom. So that the transposition happened into a reflective bias I tried to discuss the Critical Mathematical Education in accordance with Skovsmose, then bringing a reflection on the involved mathematical contents and the reality inherent to the context. When aiming at getting the interaction between the theoretical presuppositions and the reality, I reached the objective of this research and named this work as Reflective Didactic Transposition, intending to join the two theories into a process in which the knowledge to be taught be adapted to be reflectionsprovoking offering an investigation scenery that propitiates the participation of the student into the process and bringing discussions and decision taking, instigating the student - as an individual - to be the one who transforms his/her own reality. I used a qualitative approach in the research, and for the data collection I implemented the educational possibility at Junior High School classes, observing the attitudes and considerations of the students face the proposed activities as well. I also present a limitations figure that interfered with the proposal, and as the final result I present three learning approaches aimed at subsidizing other teachers who want to develop educational possibilities on a bias that turn into possible the constitution of a research scenery in order to instigate the curiosity, the investigative spirit and the critical view of the individuals involved in the pedagogical process.

Este trabalho acadêmico cobrirá alguns dos aspectos mais relevantes sobre o número p, desde o contexto histórico no qual está inserido até a demonstração de uma de suas características marcantes: a sua irracionalidade. O trabalho também terá como escopo aspectos teóricos da formação de professores, como a construção dos conjuntos numéricos, a obtenção de alguns métodos numéricos para a determinação de aproximações do valor numérico de p e, por último, sobre a aplicação do número p nas salas de aula da Educação Básica.
This academic work will cover some of the most relevant aspects of the p number, from the historical context in which it is inserted to the demonstration of one of its defining characteristics: its irrationality. The work will also have as scope theoretical aspects of teacher training, such as the construction of numerical sets, the obtainment of some numerical methods to determine approximations of the numerical value of p and, finally, on the application of the number p in the Secondary School classrooms.

Full textKollapskratrar och kraterkedjor relaterade till vulkanen Arsia Mons på Mars har karterats för att analysera deras spatiala mönster och för att komma till slutsatser för deras tillblivelse. Högupplösta satellitbilder tagna av Mars Express-sonden har använts för karteringen. Fördelningen av de karterade kraterkedjorna jämfördes med typiska fördelningar av magmatiska gångbergarter från vulkaner på jorden. Resultaten visar att fördelningen av kollapskratrar och kraterkedjor överensstämmer enligt förväntningarna och påvisar en relation mellan kollapskratrar och magmatiska gångbergarter på Mars.

O brinquedo é um objeto lúdico que a criança utiliza durante boa parte da sua infância, proporcionando-lhe um desenvolvimento por meio de desafios e descobertas, representando, portanto, um elo importantíssimo entre a criança e o aprendizado. O designer tem um papel fundamental quando projeta um brinquedo. Ele deve ter a consciência de que desenvolve uma ferramenta de auxilio na formação de uma mentalidade dinâmica e criativa, além de construir um artefato que transmita prazer, alegria e satisfação. Entretanto, quando a criança não enxerga o produto, torna-se complexa a maneira de compreender como se projetar um brinquedo para este tipo de usuário. É nesta questão que se atem este trabalho, que visa relacionar três pontos: o design de brinquedos e a deficiência visual; com o intuito de apontar características que sejam fundamentais na elaboração de um projeto de brinquedos para crianças não videntes. Desta forma, espera-se que esta pesquisa sirva como parâmetro para futuros projetos de brinquedos
Toy is a playful object that the child uses during a big part of the childhood, providing the child a growth through challanges and discoreries, representing a very important link between the child and learning. The designer has an important role when designing a toy. He must be aware that the develops a helping tool in the formation of a creative and dynamic mentality and besides creating an article that shows pleasure, happiness and satisfaction. However, when the child cannot see the product, the way of understanding how to design a toy for this kind of user becomes complex. That is the thing this jobs is focused on, the aim to relate three points: the universal design, toys design, and sight deficiency in order to help show characteristics that are basic to elaborate of toys project to kids that cannot see. By doing this we hope that this research can be helpful as exemple to future toys projects

Resumo: O brinquedo é um objeto lúdico que a criança utiliza durante boa parte da sua infância, proporcionando-lhe um desenvolvimento por meio de desafios e descobertas, representando, portanto, um elo importantíssimo entre a criança e o aprendizado. O designer tem um papel fundamental quando projeta um brinquedo. Ele deve ter a consciência de que desenvolve uma ferramenta de auxilio na formação de uma mentalidade dinâmica e criativa, além de construir um artefato que transmita prazer, alegria e satisfação. Entretanto, quando a criança não enxerga o produto, torna-se complexa a maneira de compreender como se projetar um brinquedo para este tipo de usuário. É nesta questão que se atem este trabalho, que visa relacionar três pontos: o design de brinquedos e a deficiência visual; com o intuito de apontar características que sejam fundamentais na elaboração de um projeto de brinquedos para crianças não videntes. Desta forma, espera-se que esta pesquisa sirva como parâmetro para futuros projetos de brinquedos
Abstract: Toy is a playful object that the child uses during a big part of the childhood, providing the child a growth through challanges and discoreries, representing a very important link between the child and learning. The designer has an important role when designing a toy. He must be aware that the develops a helping tool in the formation of a creative and dynamic mentality and besides creating an article that shows pleasure, happiness and satisfaction. However, when the child cannot see the product, the way of understanding how to design a toy for this kind of user becomes complex. That is the thing this jobs is focused on, the aim to relate three points: the universal design, toys design, and sight deficiency in order to help show characteristics that are basic to elaborate of toys project to kids that cannot see. By doing this we hope that this research can be helpful as exemple to future toys projects

O trabalho aborda os desafios que a empresa enfrenta para garantir sua sustentabilidade, a partir do pressuposto de que ela também deve contribuir para o desenvolvimento sustentável da sociedade. Os desafios são gerados pela crescente globalização da economia de mercado e pela interdependência das áreas econômica, ecológica e social, e vistos como novos condicionantes e requisitos à gestão empresarial. Esse trabalho os identifica nas três áreas, e sustenta que a gestão empresarial, além de assegurar a viabilidade econômica, deve assegurar também a qualidade dos sistemas ecológicos e assumir responsabilidades na área social. Argumenta, sobretudo, que, para alcançar o desenvolvimento sustentável a gestão deve considerar as três áreas de forma integrada. Para isso, esse trabalho elabora um Quadro de Referência (QR) no qual alguns dos novos condicionantes e requisitos devem ser examinados em cada área, e no conjunto das três. O QR serve de moldura ao desenho do Modelo "Visão Integrada da Gestão Sustentável da Empresa". Nele, as relações Empresa - Sociedade são representadas pela dinâmica das interações entre a gestão empresarial e os múltiplos stakeholders, incluindo, entre estes, os ecossistemas. Para chegar à visão integrada, a gestão da empresa detecta tanto os condicionantes e requisitos, quanto as 'respostas estratégicas' para atender à demanda de seus stakeholders primários e secundários. O trabalho é composto de 8 capítulos. O primeiro levanta a problemática e coloca a questão central de como realizar a gestão sustentável da empresa na perspectiva do desenvolvimento sustentável, tendo em conta os novos condicionantes e requisitos da economia globalizada e interdependência dos setores econômico-sociais. Os capítulos 2 a 4 examinam essa sustentabilidade nas áreas econômica, ecológica e social, e identificam os principais condicionantes e requisitos em cada uma delas. Os capítulos 5 e 6 apresentam o Quadro de Referência e o Modelo de Gestão Empresarial voltado ao Desenvolvimento Sustentável (GDS), com os respectivos instrumentos de análise para operacioná-lo. O capítulo 7 é dedicado à comentar os resultados da pesquisa documental (apresentada como Apêndice da tese) do exercício (tarefa) de abrasilianar o QR e seus requisitos. No oitavo e último capítulo são apresentadas as conclusões do trabalho e as sugestões para trabalhos futuros.

O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar as mudanças no espaço e na agricultura familiar num contexto de desenvolvimento rural. O estudo de caso recai sobre o processo de mudanças socioespaciais mobilizado pela Associação dos Agricultores Ecológicos das Encostas da Serra Geral/AGRECO, com sede no Município de Santa Rosa de Lima, situado no sul do Estado de Santa Catarina e do Brasil. A questão principal consiste em saber em que medida as estratégias de desenvolvimento implementadas a partir da Entidade vêm redefinindo a dinâmica do espaço e da agricultura familiar naquele município. Ao longo do trabalho constatamos que o associativismo, ecologização da produção, agroindustrialização de pequeno porte, comercialização coletiva, agroturismo e cooperativismo de crédito promoveram a diversificação e a revitalização do espaço rural e redefiniram, embora de maneira desigual, as oportunidades de reprodução e a ruralidade da agricultura familiar. Interessados em caracterizar a natureza e a amplitude das mudanças em curso qualificamos, um "espaço institucional", representado pelos sistemas de objetos e de ações introduzidos e/ou redefinidos pela AGRECO e um "espaço interinstitucional", resultante das muitas parcerias realizadas com instituições diversas e que extrapolam a escala local. Buscando entender como a agricultura familiar vem respondendo ao processo de desenvolvimento, focalizamos os sentidos e práticas mobilizadas pelos produtores em relação a cada uma das estratégias; cujas dinâmicas tendem a afetar aspectos mais ou menos distintos do espaço rural e a engendrar diferentes formas de ruralidade. Finalmente, verificamos que o espaço mobilizado pela AGRECO ao mesmo tempo em que expressa a realização de diferentes estratégias de desenvolvimento e potencializa elementos (materiais e simbólicos) próprios da agricultura familiar, apresenta dificuldades e problemas que vão de encontro a certas necessidades e interesses de boa parte dos produtores filiados, que por sua vez, passam a conceber e realizar possibilidades mais ou menos diferenciadas de reprodução socioeconômica.

Full textThe Volvo Car Corporation is one of the strongest brands in the car industry, with a long and proud history of world-leading innovations. The factory in Skövde produces engines in both petrol and diesel variants. In the future Volvo is planning to introduce new types of engines with the group name VEA. These new engines will be the main engines in all new Volvo cars, but the old models will remain indefinitely. To understand how the new transport systems in the factory will work together with the old transport systems and also to know if the transport systems can handle the future demands, a simulation model is required. In the spring of 2011 a similar project was done where a simulation model of the transport systems was built, but since the model was too complex and required a lot of simulation time it was decided that a new model will be built. There are three main transport systems; Automated guided vehicles (AGV), electric track systems (EHB) and manual transports with trucks. This project is aimed to simulate the automated transport systems between the Manufacturing factories and Assembly factories, to make sure that Volvo can handle future demands by: collecting all data that affects the transport systems, such as transport layouts, availability, communication protocols and so on, to be certain that a realistic simulation model can be built; building a simulation model over the current system and validating that the model conforms to the real system by comparing inputs and outputs, such as production plan, store utilization, throughput per hour, over a certain period of time; developing and create a model for a future scenario. The simulation models should be able to vary in different buffer sizes, quantities of transportation and be able to create various test scenarios depending on customer demand; analyzing the results of the future model to answer the questions: will they be able to keep up with the customer demands with the planned transport systems, how many AGVs and EHBs are necessary, shifts that is necessary for each factory and the capacity that is needed for each store; In this project Tecnomatix Plant Simulation 9 is used as the simulation software since it can handle very complex models. The future adoption of our simulation model by Volvo in Plant Simulation is another reason why this software is chosen. Therefore, the model developed during this project can be applied to answer future questions. Certain simplification is made in the project and in the model; events that are not important to the outcome are simplified to one process. For example, manufacturing processes do not affect the transport system other than the throughput. By simplifying the model, it may become much faster and easier to use since there will be less data to manage during simulation. Two scenarios have been simulated in this project where one scenario is based on testing all engine types whereas the other scenario only tests the new engine types. The result from scenario 1 has shown that Volvo will be able to produce according to the customer demands by acquiring new AGVs and by making certain shift arrangement for the different lines in the factory. The amount of EHB wagons needed is less than the current amount today. The results from scenario 2 shows that Volvo will produce according to the customer demand by acquiring more AGVs than needed for the scenario 1. The amount of EHB wagons needed in this case is also less than what exists today.

Resumo: A enorme quantidade e a natureza dos dados armazenados por aplicações que utilizam sistemas de informações geográficas (SIGs) implicam em alterações ou extensões nos métodos de acesso, otimizadores de consulta e linguagens de consulta estabelecidos para sistemas gerenciadotes de banco de dados (SGBDs) convencionais. Com isto, diferentes soluções têm sido apresentadas, tornando-se imprescindível a criação de algum mecanismo que possa medir a eficiência destas soluções para auxiliar o direcionamento de futuros trabalhos de pesquisas. Para tal propósito é utilizada, nesta dissertação, a técnica experimental de benchmark. Esta dissertação propõe a carga de trabalho e caracteriza os dados de um benchmark voltado à análise de desempenho de SIGs. A carga de trabalho do benchmark é composta por um conjunto de transações primitivas, especificadas em alto nível, que podem ser utilizadas para a formação de transações mais complexas. Estas transações primitivas são predominantemente orientadas aos dados espaciais, sendo, a priori, independentes do formato de dados utilizado (raster ou vetorial). A caracterização dos dados do benchmark foi efetuada em termos dos tipos de dados necessários para a representação de aplicações georeferenciadas, e adicionalmente procedimentos para se realizar a geração de dados sintéticos. Finalmente, uma aplicação alvo utilizando dados sintéticos foi definida com a finalidade de validar o benchmark proposto.
Abstract: Geographical Information Systems (GIS) de ai with data that are special in nature and size. Thus, the technologies developed for conventional data base systems such as access methods, query optimizers and languages, have to be modified in order to satisfy the needs of a GIS. These modifications, embedded in several GIS, or being proposed by research projects, need to be evaluated. This thesis proposes mechanisms for evaluating GIS based on benchmarks. The benchmark is composed of a workload to be submitted to the GIS being analysed and data characterizing the information. The workload is made of a set of primitive transactions that can be. combined in order to derive transactions of any degree of complexity. These primitive transactions are oriented to spatial data but not dependent on the way they are represented (vector or raster). The benchmark data base characterization was defined in terms of the types of data required by applications that use georeferencing, and by the need to generate complex and controlled artificial data. The proposed technique and methods were used to show how to create the transactions and the data for a given application.

The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (FTC) occupies a prominent position in the study of Differential and Integral Calculus (DIC) as it establishes a relationship which exists between the operations of integration and differentiation as inverse to each other in addition to its use in the calculation of definite integrals, especially in solving problems which involve area, volume and arc length, amongst others. However, in the context of Mathematics Education, regarding the teaching and learning of Calculus, researches conducted in Brazil and other countries like France, England and the United States, have shown misunderstanding on the part of the students regarding the lack of connection between the concepts of Integral and Derivatives in the study of FTC. Facing this scenario, this thesis aimed at conducting a didactic and epistemological study of FTC, presenting, as its result, the elaboration and analysis of teaching intervention of which main aim was to reveal and bring up the relationship between the operations of derivation and integration and under which conditions this relationship is established as this constitutes the essence of the theorem. As a theoretical frame of reference, one has used the ideas connected to the use of intuition and rigor in the construction of mathematical knowledge according to Henri Poincaré (1995) as well as the categorizations of intuition and the interrelations between its components: the formal, algorithmic and intuitive components in mathematical activities according to Efraim Fischbein (1991). The research presented is qualitative, presenting, as methodological procedures, the development of a teaching intervention as wells as the analysis of the solutions to questions proposed by fourteen students from a technological course in a public college in the state of São Paulo with the help of Geogebra Software. In order to analyze the resolutions, besides the already mentioned theoretical frame of reference, one has also adopted the works of Tall (1991) on the role of visualization of the teaching of Calculus and the interrelationships with intuition and rigor. As results, one highlights that exploring the concepts of integral, initially by the idea of accumulation and working simultaneously with the question related to the variation of this accumulation, has shown to be a suitable strategy so that students could understand the mutual relationship between integration and derivation as operations inverse to each other, as well as it allowed them to internalize such relationship as in the genesis of FTC which came after the study of these operations. Furthermore, one can conclude that the concept of function constituted the conducting principle which guided students on the understanding of FTC. Nevertheless, difficulties in understanding the continuity of a function, one of the central points of the theorem, was also an issue which came up in the results of the teaching intervention. Analysis has shown better results on students dealing with mathematical activities when the axis of interactions among formal, algorithmic and intuitive components is dealt with the axis regarding the question of visualization in the process of teaching and learning Calculus. At the end of tasks, one has observed that students have begun to show indications of concern in order to relate intuition with rigor in the building of mathematical knowledge
O Teorema Fundamental do Cálculo (TFC) ocupa uma posição de destaque no estudo do Cálculo Diferencial e Integral (CDI), pois estabelece a relação existente entre as operações de integração e derivação como inversas entre si, além da sua utilização no cálculo de integrais definidas, em especial na resolução de problemas envolvendo área, volume e comprimento de arco, entre outras. Entretanto, no âmbito da Educação Matemática, quanto ao ensino e aprendizagem do Cálculo, pesquisas realizadas no Brasil e em outros países, tais como França, Inglaterra e Estados Unidos evidenciaram a incompreensão dos alunos no tocante à falta de ligação existente entre os conceitos de integral e derivada no estudo do TFC em um curso de Cálculo. Diante desse panorama, esta tese teve por objetivo realizar um estudo didático e epistemológico do TFC, apresentando como resultado a elaboração e análise de uma intervenção de ensino que procurou fazer emergir a relação entre as operações de integração e derivação e sob quais condições essa relação se estabelece, o que constitui a essência do teorema. Como referencial teórico foram utilizadas as ideias ligadas ao uso da intuição e do rigor na construção do conhecimento matemático, segundo Henri Poincaré (1995), bem como as categorizações da intuição e as inter-relações entre os componentes: formal, algorítmico e intuitivo nas atividades matemáticas, de acordo com Efraim Fischbein (1991). A pesquisa é qualitativa, apresentando como procedimentos metodológicos a elaboração de uma intervenção de ensino, bem como a análise das resoluções das questões efetuadas por 14 estudantes do curso de Tecnologia de uma faculdade pública do Estado de São Paulo com o auxílio do software GeoGebra. Para análise das resoluções, além do referencial teórico citado, foram adotados os trabalhos de Tall (1991) sobre o papel da visualização no ensino do Cálculo e as inter-relações com a intuição e o rigor. Como resultados, destaca-se que explorar os conceitos de integral inicialmente por meio da ideia de acumulação, simultaneamente trabalhando-se com a questão da variação dessa acumulação, mostrou-se uma estratégia pertinente para que os estudantes compreendessem a relação mútua entre integração e derivação como operações inversas uma da outra, assim como permitiu que os estudantes interiorizassem que tal relação, como ocorreu na gênese do TFC, realizou-se posteriormente ao estudo dessas operações. Além disso, pode-se concluir que o conceito de função constituiu-se na linha condutora que norteou o entendimento dos estudantes sobre o TFC. Não obstante, as dificuldades da compreensão de continuidade de uma função, um dos pontos centrais do teorema, também foi uma questão que emergiu dos resultados da intervenção de ensino. A análise mostrou melhores resultados por parte dos estudantes nas atividades matemáticas, quando o eixo das interações entre os componentes algorítmico, formal e intuitivo é trabalhado em conjunto com o eixo relacionado à questão da visualização no ensino e aprendizagem do Cálculo. No final das tarefas, observou-se que os estudantes começaram a mostrar indícios da preocupação de relacionar a intuição com o rigor na construção do conhecimento matemático

Full textThis work pursued development of a substitute of silica as material basis for operation of thermo-optical devices, with refractive index, thermo-optic coefficient and choice of spectral window as critical parameters, and application focused in the study of materials for a temperature sensor. As result, polycarbonate (PC) and poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA were combined, since they are compatible, transparent in the visible spectrum range, and present refractive indices significantly different, as well as thermo-optic coefficients much higher then that of silica. Dependance of the refractive index was analyzed with respect to wavelength (continuous range of 400-800 nm), temperature (25-85°C) and blend composition (0-100 wt% of PC in PMMA). Films were produced by spin coating, whereas their refractive indices and thicknesses were measured by spectral ellipsometry. From a dedicated heating device, built and integrated into the ellipsometer, in situ measurements were performed to provide variation of dispersion curves with temperature. Based on these measurements, the thermo-optic coefficient of the blend films was determined, ranging from -1.72 E-4/°C to -1.11 E-4/°C, an order of magnitude higher than that of silica, and refractive index tuning was attained between 1.49 and 1.61, depending on polymer blend composition. The measured data form a consolidated basis of reference values to the production of materials with refractive indices.

Full textThis paper presents a research on Arts teaching in High School, whose focus is the construction of visual poetics, addressing primarily the interweaved reading of the work of art inside Art History, the culture and the aesthetics education, aiming at waking the sensitivity in the school context. The issue outlined here implicates the creation of aids for a teaching strategy of Art History in High School, thought about in face of the pedagogical practice of the author and the dialogue with works that turn to the multiple languages and perceptions of the world. It focus on the variables that allow for the teaching and learning of Art History and aims at provoking reflexive atitudes by presenting itself as research, search and construction of knowledge based on experience to poetize and enjoy art in interculturality, which scouts the school daily life, emphasizing the poetic process and the personal dimensions, and not only the aesthetic outcome obtained. The methodology consists of recovering data from the author?s experience with the teaching of Arts over a fifteen-year period, permeated by readings that focus the works' aesthetical standards, movements, and historical periods, interweaved, in the quest of spawning in the students aesthetic reading abilities in their daily lives. The education-art dialogue is proposed by conceiving the reading of the work of art as a process of understanding the world, demistifying the understanding of art as luxury, ornament or a non-serious subject in the basic education syllabus, more specifically the teaching of Art History in High School.

Full textThis manuscript reports a work which aims to develop a tiny flying robots inspired by natural flyers. Our main objective is to devise a flying robot mimicking insects in terms of kinematics and scale using MEMS technologies in order to answer the scale challenges: the large-scale manufacturing and the system's small scale. The success this project faces different challenges such as aeroelastic aspects of wings and drone autonomy.In this work we propose the use of original concepts like resonance and passive torsion of the wings which are implemented on all-polymer prototypes obtained using a micromachining SU-8 photoresist process. In order to achieve a better efficiency of the prototype, each element of the energy transduction has been carefully examined and optimized. Especially, the actuation, the transmission and the wings in order to increase the lift. These improvements demonstrate experimentally that the prototype is able to produce a complex kinematic and compensate 75 % of its weight

Full textVulkaner har, i syfte för riskuppskattning, under en lång tid observerats med enkel sensorteknik.Det systemet behöver dock manuell övervakning av varje sensor, vilket gör att övervakningssystemet inte blir nog flexibelt eller effektivt för att kunna anpassas till en variabel vulkanmiljö. Med utvecklingen av trådlösa sensornätverk kan noggrannheten och täckningen av vulkanövervakning förbättras. I denna rapport föreslås en prototyp för ett trådlöst sensornätverk avsett för övervakning av vulkaner.Denna prototyp byggdes och provades i en fältkampanj på vulkanen Etna i september 2004. I denna rapport presenteras även hårdvarudesign av sensorer, fördjupad design av sensornätverket och arkitektur av mjukvarumoduler.Erfarenheten från det praktiska arbetet på Etna kommer att användas i ett kommande vulkanprojekt.

Full textIn 2015, the blood donation rate for the country was estimated by the Ministry of Health by 18.2 donations per 1,000 inhabitants, whereas in 2014, this rate was 18.49. The maintenance of blood stocks in the country is a constant in hemotherapy services and the strategies of donor recruitment and loyalty are essential. Thus, it is necessary to know donor\'s expectations regarding the assistance during the donation and to identify what makes them feel satisfied with the service delivered. The usual satisfaction questionnaires, found in the literature, designed to customers or patients are not directly applicable to donors, once donors are not properly conceived as subjects who attend to the institution only to receive a product or care, actually they take part in a process to which they contribute by offering goods of material nature for free, in this case their own blood. Upon the absence of validated instruments in Portuguese, the aim of this study is to construct an instrument capable of assessing blood donor\'s satisfaction, as well as to study its validity and internal consistence. The study will be conducted in four steps: (1) development of the instrument based on focus groups and on the instrument introduced by Borges et al. (2005), (2) validation of the content, considering the instrument evaluation by a group of experts, (3) instrument pre-test, and (4) application of the instrument to validate a sample of 1,019 blood donors. The instrument proposed has 25 items characterizing the attributes of blood donor\'s satisfaction, divided in three domains: access/convenience, technical aspects, and interpersonal aspects. The instrument showed satisfactory internal consistence in relation to the set of items. We propose the performance-importance graph (PIG) as a simple tool for the interpretation of the data obtained by the instrument, in the routine of quality monitoring of the service delivered by blood banks. Considering the data obtained for the sample of 1,019 donors, the PIG allowed to identify the items that, if improved, donor\'s overall satisfaction should tend to increase, as well as the items that have to be kept in order to guarantee donor\'s satisfaction. The instrument proposed might contribute to the quality of hemotherapy services by capturing information capable of describing the aspects donors feel most unsatisfied with, in relation to the attention or services delivered.

This study investigated the construction and mobilization of teaching knowledge to train chemistry teachers for school inclusion. The research was especially guided by aspects intrinsic to qualitative approach. We chose an action-research, given the purpose of providing to those involved the conditions to think, reflect and discuss the nature and complexity of real problems we are experiencing. This research was developed in two spiral cycles of action-research. The first cycle included the planning and development of the free core subject entitled Foundations of Inclusive Education (FIE) in 2010, and the second cycle was the development of supervised training at the Brazilian Center for Support and Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired (CEBRAV) in 2011. The participants were students of the subject FEI, trainees of the Education Degree in Chemistry who have developed their internships at CEBRAV and visually impaired students of CEBRAV. The instruments for data collection were, for the 1st cycle, the collective diaries and in the 2nd cycle, we use the collective diaries and transcripts of audio and video recordings of pedagogical interventions (PI) performed in CEBRAV. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis technique (CA) and through the transcripts of PI. The narratives produced in collective diaries indicated that students of the subject FEI have appropriated the discussions promoted in groups, through reflection by confrontation with that provided by law for the reality of public schools in the state of Goiás. The initial training should encourage and enable future teachers to take part of researches in the area of inclusive education, which seek to understand the circumstances and dilemmas of the school context, so that they can appropriate experiential and professional knowledge, which are related with community, dialogue and partnership in building a school for everyone.
Este estudo investigou a construção e mobilização dos saberes docentes para a formação de professores de química para a inclusão escolar. A pesquisa foi orientada especialmente por aspectos intrínsecos à abordagem qualitativa. Escolhemos a pesquisa-ação, pois intencionamos oferecer aos sujeitos envolvidos condições de pensar, refletir e discutir sobre a natureza e a complexidade dos problemas reais que estamos vivenciando. O desenvolvimento desta investigação cumpriu dois ciclos de espirais de uma pesquisa-ação. O primeiro ciclo contemplou o planejamento e desenvolvimento da disciplina de núcleo livre intitulada Fundamentos de Educação Inclusiva (FEI) em 2010 e o segundo ciclo foi o desenvolvimento de estágios supervisionados no Centro Brasileiro de Reabilitação e Apoio ao Deficiente Visual (CEBRAV) em 2011. Os sujeitos desta investigação foram os alunos da disciplina FEI, os estagiários do Curso de Licenciatura em Química que desenvolveram seus estágios no CEBRAV e os alunos deficientes visuais do CEBRAV. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram, para o 1°Ciclo, os diários coletivos e, no 2°Ciclo, utilizamos os diários coletivos e as transcrições das gravações em áudio e vídeos das intervenções pedagógicas (IPs) realizadas no CEBRAV. Os dados coletados foram analisados pela técnica de análise de conteúdo (AC) e mediante as transcrições das IPs. As narrativas produzidas nos diários coletivos indicaram que os alunos da disciplina FEI se apropriaram das discussões promovidas nos grupos, mediante a reflexão pelo confronto do que a legislação prevê com a realidade das escolas públicas do estado de Goiás. Entendemos que a formação inicial deve incentivar e possibilitar aos futuros professores a participação em pesquisas na área de educação inclusiva, que busquem a compreensão das especificidades e dos dilemas do contexto escolar para que eles possam se apropriar dos saberes experienciais e profissionais, os quais se relacionam com a coletividade, o diálogo e a parceria na construção de uma escola para todos.

Full textBackground: Focused echocardiographic examinations performed by intensivists and emergency room physicians can be a valuable tool for diagnosing and managing the hemodynamic status of critically ill children. The aim of this study was to evaluate the learning curve achieved using a theoretical and practical training program designed to enable pediatric intensivists and emergency physicians to conduct targeted echocardiograms. Methods: Theoretical and practical training sessions were conducted with 16 pediatric intensivist/emergency room physicians. The program included qualitative analyses of the left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) functions, evaluation of pericardial effusion/cardiac tamponade and valvular regurgitation and measurements of the distensibility index of the inferior vena cava (dIVC), ejection fraction (EF) and cardiac index (CI). The practical training sessions were conducted in the intensive care unit; each student performed 24 echocardiograms. The students in training were evaluated in a practical manner, and the results were compared with the corresponding examinations performed by experienced echocardiographer. The evaluations occurred after 8, 16 and 24 practical examinations. Results: The concordance rates between the students and echocardiographers in the subjective analysis of the LV function were 81.3% at the first evaluation, 96.9% at the second evaluation and 100% at the third evaluation (p < 0.001). For the dIVC, we observed a concordance of 46.7% at the first evaluation, 90.3% at the second evaluation and 87.5% at the third evaluation (p=0.004). The means of the differences between the students\' and echocardiographers\' measurements of the EF and CI were 7% and 0.56 L/min/m2, respectively, after the third stage of training. Conclusions: The proposed training was demonstrated to be sufficient for enabling pediatric physicians to analyze subjective LV function and to measure dIVC, EF and CI. This training course should facilitate the design of other echocardiography training courses that could be implemented in medical residency programs to improve these physicians\' technical skills and the care of critically ill patients

The progress of science and technology coupled with the improvement of communication networks favoring the emergence of services to handle with growing volumes of data and the high transmission power available. Applications based on digital video are increasingly popular. They are widespread in multiples fields: telemedicine, artistic performances, techno-scientific events, entertainment, and advertising, among others. Proportionately, they are increasingly required higher levels of quality and delivery times getting shorter for the development of software systems. Therefore, this paper aims to map the state of the art in the development of applications based on digital video and show the necessity of having a framework that provides an abstraction for the development of systems in this area. Finally, is presented a case study of STYLO, a software framework that aims to encapsulate experiences in developing technologies that scope, providing ways for developers to reuse, usability and standardization of code and bringing greater productivity in their implementations.
O progresso da Ciência e Tecnologia aliado à melhoria das redes de comunicação, favorecem o surgimento de serviços para lidar com volumes crescentes de dados e com o alto poder de transmissão disponível. Aplicações baseadas em vídeo digital estão cada vez mais populares e atingem os mais diversos campos: Telemedicina, Arte e Tecnologia, entretenimento, publicidade, dentre outros. Proporcionalmente, são exigidos níveis cada vez mais altos de qualidade e prazos de entrega cada vez mais curtos para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de software. Diante disso, este trabalho faz um mapeamento do estado da arte no processo de desenvolvimento de aplicações baseadas em vídeo digital e mostra a necessidade de se ter um framework que forneça uma abstração para o desenvolvimento de sistemas nessa área. Além disso, é apresentado o STYLO, um arcabouço de software que tem como objetivo encapsular experiências adquiridas no desenvolvimento de tecnologias desse âmbito, provendo para os programadores formas de reuso, usabilidade e padronização de código e trazendo maior produtividade em suas implementações.

Full textIn development of Synthetic Agents for Education, the doubt still resides about what would be a behavior that could be considered, in fact, plausible for this agent's type, which can be considered as effective on the transmission of the knowledge by the agent and the function of emotions this process. The purpose of this labor has an investigative nature in an attempt to discover what aspects are important for this behavior consistent and practical development of a chatterbot with the function of virtual tutor, within the context of learning algorithms. In this study, we explained the agents' basics, Intelligent Tutoring Systems, bots, chatterbots and how these systems need to provide credibility to report on their behavior. Models of emotions, personality and humor to computational agents are also covered, as well as previous studies by other researchers at the area. After that, the prototype is detailed, the research conducted, a summary of results achieved, the architectural model of the system, vision of computing and macro view of the features implemented.
No desenvolvimento de Agentes Sint?ticos Educacionais, ainda reside a d?vida sobre o que seria um comportamento que possa ser considerado, de fato, plaus?vel para esse tipo de agente, qual forma pode ser considerada eficaz na transmiss?o do conhecimento pelo agente e qual o papel das emo??es nesse processo. Full textDetta examensarbete har genomförts på Volvo Aero i Trollhättan och består av tre delar: en kartläggning av processventilationens uppbyggnad på ett antal utvalda maskiner och beräkning av dess energiåtgång, en jämförelse ur energieffektivitetssynpunkt mellan ett nyutvecklat maskinkoncept som kallas MultiTask-Cell och traditionell tillverkning, sist har en tomgångsanalys gjorts i verkstaden för att identifiera vad som använder elenergi då ingen produktion sker.
För att kunna genomföra uppgifterna har mätningar av elanvändningen gjorts på både maskinnivå och transformatorer, detta för att kunna beräkna energianvändning på utvalda maskiner och även få en helhetssyn över verkstadens energianvändning. Det har även gjorts datainsamling och intervjuer för att få grepp över processventilationens funktion och uppbyggnad.
Det finns två varianter på processluften, ett där konstant relativt högt luftflöde används och ett när man genom varvtalsreglering av fläkten använder ett lägre grundflöde som forceras en viss tid vid spindelstopp. Ur energisynpunkt är metoden med grundflöde och forcering att föredra då det leder till både mindre energiförluster genom processluften och en stor minskning av fläktens elbehov. Det har även räknats ut en teoretisk energibesparing vid införande av värmeåtervinning för två maskingrupperingar.
Jämförelsen mellan MultiTask-cellen och traditionella maskiner har gjorts genom att mäta den energi det krävs för att tillverka en detalj för respektive tillverkningssätt. MultiTask-cellen visade sig använda cirka 25 % mindre energi än de traditionella maskinerna för tillverkning av samma typ av detalj.
Tomgångsanalysen visar på ett högt effektuttag även då det ej sker någon produktion på Volvo Aero. Detta beror till stor del på att maskinerna har en relativt hög tomgångsförbrukning. Denna krävs för att hålla maskinen varm vilket ger en så problemfri uppstart som möjligt. Att byta ut allmänbelysningens armatur till nyare och modernare skulle årligen ge en betydande energibesparing.

Assigner for the project was Volvo Car Corporation at Torslanda in Gothenburg, department for design and product development PVC. Orderer was Bernt Lahneljung, Senior Studio Engineer; supervisor at Karlstads Universitet was Lennart Wihk.
Volvo Car Corporation is a car manufacturer in the incredibly competitive car industry. At the department for design and product development the cars interior as well as exterior design is established, driven along by the company’s vision to be the worlds most sought after premium car brand, with a mission to create the safest and most exiting car experience for modern families.
From this, the students were given the assignment to develop a tunnel console with fresh thinking as a parole word. The tunnel console is the part of the interior that sits between both front seats, most commonly including handle brake, gear shifter, arm rest and storage compartments at most cars. The assigner witnessed of stagnation in the innovative thinking at this part of the car and longed for new ideas.
The goal was to develop a complete tunnel console based on a given, soon to come into the market car (classified). A prototype was to be build in full scale and 3D-generated images and animations would present the result. The result was to be presented at an exhibit during two days at Karlstads University, as well as to the assigner.
Through a extensive research of the current market, including a trip down to Geneva for a visit at the Auto Saloon, followed by a creative faze of generating ides and finally an extensive work to tie the whole project together to one presentable product, the degree project has resulted in a complete tunnel console, full of innovative solutions.
The degree project resulted in a full scale prototype, 3D-generated animations, an exhibit display, a presentation made in Flash™ as well as this academic report. The end result was not classified, but were to be used within Volvo CC as a source of inspiration for a future project in the given care model.
