This graduation thesis Vote and Voting Behaviour of Citizen of the Town Lanškroun deals with vote and voting behaviour of inhabitants, who have permanent residence in the town Lanškroun. In thesis the returns of particular elections to municipal government of the town are characterized from years 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Subsequently the thesis is focused on the voting behaviour of the population. Informations about voting behaviour of citizen were obtained from performed questionnaire research.
The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part of graduation thesis is theoretical, which defines the basic concepts related to the topic of elections. It focuses mainly
on concepts such as local democracy, local politics, vote and voting behaviour.
The practical part focuses on the characteristics of the town Lanškroun, analyzes individual municipal vote and on the basis of results of the questionnaire results explains the voting behaviour of the population of Lanškroun.

The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the voting behavior of the citizens of the city of Jičín. The theoretical part deals with local democracy, introduces the voting system or different researches of voting behavior. The mainstay of this thesis is the practical part consisting of case study, whose task is to analyze behavior of Jičín citizens. The author of this thesis determined four tasks. First one is the implementation of socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of Jičín, enabling to conclude the voting behavior of its citizens. The other task is the analysis of election results in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Further is analyzed the voter turnout in Jičín and political parties which participated in past years are introduced. The third task is the qualitative research in the form of interview with the Jičínský Demokratický Klub leader and city's councilor. In the last part is conducted quantitative research, which will enable to answer the questions, regarding election behavior of citizens of Jičín.

The political aspects of local government, case study of municipality Mirovice thesis is focused on the issue of elections to municipal Mirovice in the period between 2002 and 2014 and the voting behaviour of its inhabitants, turnout in comparison with the results from the entire district Písek and in total with the Czech Republic. The aim is to verify the applicability of the models of electoral behaviour of the population in local elections.
The theoretical part contains definitions of basic concepts such as democracy,
the characteristics of self-government, elections and electoral behaviour. The Practical part includes characterization of the municipality Mirovice, characteristics of its inhabitants
and their participation in elections. To confirm or reject the suitability of the theory of voting behaviour the both positive and negative relations with elected parties, we will make survey as a part of the practical part of the thesis. The satisfaction of local citizens with the work of city councils takes the thesis also into consideration.

The thesis deals with the local political party line in the environment of regional government. The work is focused on the town of Kutna Hora (Central Bohemia). The first part, the literature search, is the theoretical definition of basic concepts that deal with the local political party line in four categories according to the size of the municipalities. The most important is a definition of medium-sized municipalities, which corresponds to the currently investigated Kutna Hora. Then there is a definition of the characteristics of communal system, voting behavior and formation of municipal coalitions. The literature search is followed by the practical part, where there is the acquired theoretical knowledge applied to the local government of Kutna Hora. The focal point is based on the identification of local political participants (local organizations of political parties and other political organizations, interest groups, etc.), their electoral successes, the internal decision-making mechanisms, relationships and activities.
The essential finding is that it´s not possible to apply expressly the assertion of Katz and Maira that the number of members of local organizations of political parties is steadily decreasing in western democracies, to the local government of Kutna Hora. The number of members in particular political entities of Kutna Hora is relatively high. Mutual relations of
political entities of Kutna Hora however are based on personal sympathies and aversions. The local political system can be assessed as fully competitive, based on the principle of government and opposition.

The aim is to assess the importance of preferential votes in the distribution of political seats in municipal councils. Meaning of preferential votes is assessed using the variation coeficient, which is calculated for all the municipalities in district Děčín. The operational objective is to evaluate the use of preferential votes in the electoral behavior, which also results from the values of the variation coefficient.

It is focused on assessment of factors that influence voting behavior of citizens in the town of Nový Bydžov. It describes the evolution of electoral behavior from 1994 to 2014 and verification of the applicability of the theory of electoral behavior for explanation of the electoral decision-making of the electorate in Nový Bydžov. The theoretical part addresses (describes) theoretical definition of areas that relate to the topic of the thesis. The practical part is a case study of Nový Bydžov. Subject of study is the town of Nový Bydžov, objects of study are the voters participating in the elections to the council of this city. To achieve the set goals (objectives) is recovered content of documents study (written records), a questionnaire survey, comparative methods and synthesis.

The diploma thesis deals with the development of local gouvernement of municipality Horní Počernice. The main purpose is to find out the factors, which affect the charakter of local political proces in this municipality. The thesis consists of two parts, which are the literature overview and practical part. The first part includes general charasteristic of self-government and municipal politics in the Czech Republic. The practical part includes the characteristics of major social-economic indicators of the municipality. In the thesis are also indentified the main actors of local political proces of the municipality, the interets and business groups and the relationship between each other. The practical part is especially focused on comparison of municipal elections in Horní Počernice and on the analysis of the local party system. The practical part also includes the characteristics of conduct local political actors, creation coalitions and are characterized local cleavages. In the end of the thesis are summarized the established facts.

This thesis deals with the influence of local administration on development of the municipality Tmaň, and with political aspects of the municipal management. The first part of this thesis defines the theoretical definition issues such as administration, municipality, municipal financing and local administration. The second part of this thesis is focused on particular aims of this thesis achieved, mainly aims like mapping of the local administration after 1989, the definition socio-economic indicators of the municipality Tmaň and the composition of the local government. The next part of the thesis includes the analysis of the decision process of the local government, which was monitored in 2015 by the method of observation. The thesis includes interest groups, local business entities and their cooperation and relationship with local administration. The substantial part of the thesis includes the clarification of the results of the municipal elections in the municipality Tmaň from 1990 to the last election in 2014 and simultaneously finding out their features with subsequent comparison with theoretical knowledge. Conclusion of the thesis is the generalization based on the participant observation and the continuous questioning, what influence does the local administration on the development of the municipality Tmaň and what the political aspects of the management of the municipality Tmaň are.

This thesis is entitled The development of local government in the municipality of Klatovy. The main aim of this work is to analyse municipal policies and political mechanisms in local self-government within the election period since 2014 to 2018, and to identify unique aspects of self-government particular to this locality.
This project has been divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part outlines basic concepts relating to municipality, local self-government members, municipal election processes, formation of coalitions, and civil and political participation. The practical part is focused on the town of Klatovy: socioeconomic indicators, summary of election results since 1994, characteristics of local municipal policy during the election period since 2014 to 2018, self-government members and relationships between them, and their co-operation in the running of the municipality. This work also focuses on current problems in local municipal policy and possibly solutions.

The thesis was built up as a method of case study, dealing with the political development in Březnice from communal election in 1994 to the present. The theoretical part was focused on the development of local authorities in the historical milestones. It defines the term municipality, its institutions, communal elections and its components, the coalition theory, local party system, participation of population, position of independent candidates in local politics and local models of democracy. The practical part uses all the information obtained in the first part and applies it to the municipality Březnice according the knowledge collected from interviews with current and former local representatives. This part also describes history of the village and socio-economic indicators.

The present dissertation is focused on the development of the party systems on the local level of political decision making with the aim to verify applicability of the party systems theory. The dissertation is divided into two parts - the theoretical bases and the thesis itself. The theoretical part deals with the definitions of the fundamental concepts, such as a political party, a municipality, municipal administration, the municipal election system, and last but not at least it is focused on the party systems and their applicability in practice. The practical part of the dissertation is approached as a case study dealing with the town of Nýrsko. It contains a short characterization of the basic demographic and socio-economic indicator of the municipality. The thesis searches for the main factors having an influence on the party system in the municipality of Nýrsko, it inquires about the political area for the consequent study of the political system, the extent of political participation, the political plurality and the inception of political parties. Then the applicability of the party system theory and the role of political parties in the local political area are researched.

This diploma thesis deals with the development of local government in the Municipality of Starý Plzenec, which is located in the Pilsen Region. The main task of the first part (Theoretical background) is a public administration with a focus on the basic territorial administrative unit. Furthermore, it discusses the municipal election system, pays attention to the communal party spectrum and the phenomenon of independence. It also describes the communal political coalition and the typology of local models of democracy. The second part (Practical part) represents the Municipality of Starý Plzenec, its development and basic demographic data. It analyses the economic activity in the Municipality, the character of the building and its budget. Besides that, it compares the results of local elections since 1994 and deals with the current local politicians, the style of local policy and assigns the Municipality to a model democracy.

The theoretical part focuses on explaining the basic concepts of local politics and election. Further explanation of the terms used in the analytical part. The analytical part focuses on the city Libčice nad Vltavou. First is describes the history of the city, defined territory and population demographics and amenities. Furthermore the thesis deals with a various political actors in Libčice nad Vltavou, the election results from the year 1994 - 2014 and electoral support in individual election districts in the last two election. Attention is also paid to the creation of local party system and the continuity of candidacy. A detailed research of the election results from the years 1994 - 2014 characterized by the development of the local party system and voting behavior. Using semi-standardized interviews with representatives of local political parties, former actor of political life in the city and employees of the municipal office then is identified and formed a local cleavages that have Influence on the formation of local government, and then based on these interviews identified factors influencing the compilation of coalitions.

The thesis is focused on the research and analysis of the development of the local party system, particularly in Říčany, from 1994 to 2014. The aim of the thesis is to verify the applicability of theoretical foundations that operate at parliamentary level party systems. At the same time, the thesis analyses the election results, the characteristics of the political entities and identifying factors that party system operates.
The theoretical part deals with the bases of public administration, with detailed characteristic of municipalities, political parties and party systems, including distribution to the local level and civic participation. The analytical part consists of characteristics selected municipality, socio-economic and demographic indicators, describing the political entities, analysis of election results for the reporting period and the approach of political participation of citizen in Říčany.
In conclusion, an evaluation of the election period and the determination of the party system in conjunction with a comparison of theoretical knowledge.

The theoretical part describes the basic concepts related to local government, including the urban area itself its citizens, the neighbourhood authorities, communal electoral system of Czech and the electoral right. of the local political parties. Futhermore, it is also targeted to the local organizations
and evaluates of the socio-economic indicators of the village during its participation

The analysis describes all individual candidates, political parties, electoral participation, results and arising representatives, including the characteristics of their subsequent decision-making process who's municipal political scene will be implemented

This thesis deals with the e-voting implementation in the Free Citizens Party. It contents research and practical part. The research deals with elections and e-voting solutions of elections, while the practical part is about the analysis and the implementation of electronic elections in the Free Citizens Party. The first objective is to provide knowledge that is necessary for the practical part of the thesis by research of these issues and already implemented solutions of electronic elections over the world. The second goal is to prepare the functional implementation of electronic elections in the Free Citizens Party. The analysis and solution proposal of the implementation are made to meet this goal. The author contribution consists in meeting goals of the thesis. During the thesis processing is done a research of elections and electronic elections. After acquiring this knowledge, the author made the analysis, solution proposal of the implementation and the implementation of electronic elections in the Free Citizens Party.

Subject of this dissertation is election, description of the way election funcions in big cities, and these findings are aplied to district of Prague 5. This theses focuses on results of public election from 2002, describes election mechanics in seperated election terms and presents their most inportant participants. This disertation points to instabiliti of political party coalitions and frequent suspention of office of mayor.
Big attention is given to public election in year 2014. Theses describes function of civic sector in Czech republic proces of establishing and rules of function of civic associations, which are directly applied to civic associations acting on Prague 5, especially on Prokopské údolí. This disertation then focuses on establishing of political parties, which
have elements of municipal level, but candidate in Prague 5, where politics on national level mostly occurs.
This theses uses interviews with both actors of civic associations and citizens, who decided to establish a political party as form a protest against construction in Prokopské údolí.

The thesis informs a reader about problems of establishing new/small political parties and their activities in Czech Parliament during the period of 2002 -- 2010. The surprising and unexpected results of Chamber of Desputies election that took place in May 2010 and brought considerable transformation of contemporary political establishment in Czech republic, represented the main impulse for writing this thesis. The aim of the thesis was to find out the size of political market openness for new/small political parties during the period of 2002-2010 and simultaneously evaluate what kind of position and substance these new/small political subjects in the political market have. A content of thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is focused on theoretical theme and includes four chapters. There are mentioned mainly the issues of new/small political parties' definitions, the role of relevant parties in proportional representation systems and also some of the most important attempts of electoral reforms. The second part includes the final chapter that is focused on analysis of the factors that had influence on increase or decrease in chances of new/small parties to be successful in Chamber of Desputies elections from 2002 and thus become the part of political establishment. The fundamental questions were: How have the new/small political parties built up in that period of 2002-2010 and under what circumstances have they become the part of political establishment.

The theoretical part explains and describes concepts related to communal politics matter. For example, government municipalities, municipal authorities, community development, municipal management, municipal budget, municipal elections, electoral law etc.
The practical part describes characteristic of Vinařice u Loun village from demographic and socio-economic perspective - according to the current municipal budget draft, compared to the budget structure with another, equally large municipalities. Furthermore, there has been described a detailed description of local interest and local government, and the last municipal election to municipal council (2014). The main objective is to define the nature of the decision-making process of local government and compare the management of the village from 2000 to the present (2016).
The Masters thesis characterises a case study (as already mentioned in the title of work). For data collection, analysis of documents, interviews and comparison of data were used.

The thesis deals with the development of local government in the village of Horni Cerekev. The work is conceived as a case study. Thematic framework for the work starts in 1990 and continues to the present. The work depicts Individual municipal elections as an element shaping the local political environment and summarizes the development of the political scene in relation to local government. The introductory part describes the basic theoretical background of the local rural area of the municipality. The work is based on political science theory. The work also defines the context and specificity of municipal elections, the basic characteristics of the typology of the political scene municipalities, mayor types including municipal systems. The theoretical part sets the basis for the practical part. Describing the socio-economic indicators of the village continues in the practical part of the work focusingon on semi-structured interviews to evaluate the local political scene, principles of functioning of local party system and identification of political participants.

The MA thesis aims to describe the development of local government in the municipality of Nižbor, which is located in the Central Bohemia Region near Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and the town of Beroun. The thesis includes a brief summary of the village´s history, its socioeconomic indicators and management, and also assessment of local elections focusing on the years 2006, 2010 and 2014.
The thesis also contains interviews with local councillors, at least one councillor from each list of candidates was selected. Some parts of the interviews were directly quoted, others were paraphrased.
The thesis also mentions political parties of the local political system, such as the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), political movement ANO 2011 (ANO 2011) and various associations of independent candidates.
The aim of the thesis is to describe the main socioeconomic indicators, to identify actors of the political process in the municipality of Nižbor and to define the character of the decision-making proces of its local government.

This diploma thesis researches the stance of czech political parties to reform of the electoral systém. The goal of the paper is to find out what form of electoral systém is prefered by each political party. The paper itself is divided into three parts. The first part is analysis of electoral systems, which should serve as theretical foundations for next parts of the thesis. In the second part the author analyses electoral reforms in Czech republic and in Czechoslovakia after the year 1989. The third part is research, for which the author states three hypotheses, which are absed on work of Maurice Duverger and Giovanni Sartori. The first hypothesis assumes, that big parties favour majority voting, or certain form of proportional system which favours big parties. Second hypothesis puts emphasis on smaller political parties. The author thinks, that small political parties will favour proportional system in its current form, or in that kind of form which favours small parties. The third hypothesis assumes, that small political parties, which were not elected into the House of representatives will advocate for banning or at least reducing of the electoral threshold. These hypotheses are confronted with data. Data was collected via interviews and surveys with party members and representatives.

Research of process of forming of party system of Russia at the present stage acquires special relevance that is caused by changes of a political regime. Change of nature of a political regime, sharpening of personalistic, unicentric lines has caused search of a new format of party system which would minimize possibility of instability of a political regime and became the effective mechanism of maintenance of the status quo. Main goal of dissertation research is studying of forming of a tendency to a monotsentrichnost in development of party system of the modern Russian Federation. Hypotheses which have proved to be true have been formulated: forming of unicentric party system when using strategy of a party creation of the power and its positioning in political space I became reaction of political elite of Russia to a situation of democratic transit and manifestation of its pragmatical interests.

The diploma thesis deals with regional differencies in voting results of individual Czech political parties. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part describes a theory of voting systems, focuses on their variants and explains also impact on voting results. The second part contains various types of analysis of voting results of elections into Czech Parliament during period of years 1996 -- 2006. In analysis there we calculate with voting results and social-econimic characteristics for each region. The target of analysis is to find out measure of correlation between mentioned datas.

Despite the transformation of party systems both at the national and sub-national political decision-making levels of politics, the hallmark of local political life of the municipality of Blovice city is a relative stability of the local party system. This fact is the basis of the Master thesis which aims to assess the nature of the electoral behavior of the local electorate in the elections to the municipal council with the ambition to evaluate the utility of the theory that is based on locally contextual interpretation. Partial objectives of the thesis that contribute to the main goal are the following: a description of the results of elections that are decisive for a development of the party system of Blovice city, a description of variables that underlie the permanent electoral support for the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and the characteristics of electoral behavior of the local electorate. Thesis will be designed as a case study. A research will be based on voting decisions of electorate of Blovice city. The objects of the research will be the voters who participate in the elections to the municipal council and representatives of local politics and territorial autonomy. Value attitudes and voting behavior of voters will be assessed on the basis of data obtained by questionnaire. Electoral support of parties will be evaluated on the basis of data from unstructured interviews with local politicians (especially those from the party ODS). A local political life and in particular the election results will be described thanks to data published by the Czech Statistical Office (available on www.volby.cz).

The thesis deals with the development of local government in the village of Podlesí. The village of Podlesí is situated in the Central Region, approximately two kilometers from the town of Pribram. On December 31, 2015, it had a population of 1 097 inhabitants. The main objektive of this study was to identify factors that influence the character of the local political process in the village of Podlesí. This is a case study that shows the development of the local political process here from 1990 to 2014. Working initially in the theory explains the concepts related to public administration, local authorities, the function of elections and electoral systems, municipal electoral systém and the local political process. The practical part describes the village of Podlesí. This description includes Podlesí´s history, its development of demographic characteristics and social amenities. After that an individual comparison of individual results of municipal elections from 1990 to 2014, personal interviews with local political figures and defined the character of local political processes in the village of Podlesí.

The mail goal of this work is to provide enough arguments, on which basis we can come to a conclusion if an act about limits on election costs of political parties in the Czech Republic could bring a positive effect. The work compares data on economic activities of political parties in the Slovak Republic with political parties in the Czech Republic. Experts on election costs define some interest groups which can benefit from this law. These groups include large and small parties, incumbents and challengers parties. The work does not neglect the analysis of non-governmental organizations that have attempted to monitor the implementations, effects and loopholes of such a law. The conclusion brings the finding that the voters may be influenced by a number of important factors, such as political and social situation in the country, by the well prepared and carried out campaign i.e. it is also found out that election costs does not play such an important role that is assigned to them. Regulation in the form of an upper limit of election expenses can be considered as another marketing tool that is used to obtain political party voters.

The thesis analyses the elections and electoral behaviour of the citizens of the town Volary in the period from 1996 to 2014. The behaviour of the voters was studied not only from the election results of the municipal elections but parliamentary elections as well. Several theoretical propositions, including the consistency of the voters' social status were verified. Moreover the work describes the differences of electoral behaviour based on the division into various socioeconomic groups in connection with the left and the right wing of the political spectre. Furthermore the work reviews the theory whether the local voters tend to the left or right values and deals with the stability or instability of their electoral behaviour.

This thesis deals with local level of politics, the municipal politics. The objective of the thesis is to find out what factors influence development of local government in specific conditions of the Květnice village. Literature review containing theoretical basis of the thesis constitutes the first part. There are defined specific notions, for example municipal authorities, municipality, municipal electoral system, citizen participation in the political process, or suburbanization. The theoretical part, based on reference literature, is followed by the practical one. That part is specifically focused on the Květnice village. This part contains the characteristic of the village, its history, public facility and the analysis of socio-economic indicators such as number of inhabitants, age structure or scholarship, with measure of the influence on political life in the village. The practical part also includes an analysis and a comparison of elections results from 1994 to 2014 and an identification of the important political subjects, who participate on political situation.

The main aim of the thesis was determined to identify factors influencing political decisions of municipal government in Mníšek pod Brdy city. The Diploma Thesis is divided into three parts, the first of which is dedicated to local authorities, including their composition and powers, as well as issues of municipal elections, local political partisanship, and the participation of citizens in the conflict lines in local political space.
Next part of this thesis was focused on indicators of proportionality elections and theories dealing with different views of the local coalition.
The second part deals with the general characteristics of the city and its socio-economic structure.
The last, main part of the Diploma Thesis is devoted to the presentation of each electoral period from 2002 till 2014. The principle of development and function of coalition within decision-making of the local government is described on the basis of analysis.
In the end of the thesis factors, that influence coalition relationships and their reasons, are presented.

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of financing of political parties and political movements in the Czech Republic, which is still neglected and insufficiently regulated in our country. In the practical part, the focus is on the financing and monitoring of the election campaigns for the regional council elections 2016. It primarily deals with the evaluation of the transparency of candidates and their campaigns. The election campaigns of the political movement ANO 2011 and the political party ČSSD are analyzed in detail in this thesis with an emphasis on the analysis of transparent accounts of the two candidates. The mandatory establishment of transparent accounts and expenditure ceilings for campaigns, in force since January 2017, are a very positive move towards a transparent political environment. Combined with control mechanisms and a system of sanctions, they form the basis for building a more transparent Czech political scene and they are the cause for further reforms and widening of rules in the system of political party and movement financing in the Czech Republic.

The thesis analyses the differences that result from using of specific data collection method, computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) and computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI). The main findings are based on election model built by research agency TNS Aisa for elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2013. The aim of the thesis is to determine whether the chosen method of data collection influences the results of the estimated electoral preferences, to determine in which sociodemographic categories it is happening and whether the differences in the obtained data are related to the ideological orientation of the political parties. The dependence of the results on the data collection method is assessed by the chi-quadrate independence test. Further, through personal interviews with researchers, it is determined at what stage of the research process the data may be distorted and what its possible causes are. The benefit of the thesis is the finding that the chosen method of collection influences the established preferences among voters aged 30-44, university graduates and voters living in Prague. In these groups, the left-hand side ČSSD is preferred more by personal interviewing and right-handed TOP 09 through telephone interviewing. The collection of data itself was evaluated by the most risky phase of the research process, in which possible distortion could occur. While the accuracy of personal interviewing depends largely on the interviewer's personality, the sources of distortion of the telephone inquiry result more from the nature of the use of the phone itself.

The electoral analysis, mainly detecting the causes of success of the particular political party, may bring important findings in the field of Czech democracy development and the society itself. The aim of the thesis is the geographic analysis of the elections (between the years 1990 - 2013), focused on the Green Party (GP), which exists at the Czech political scene since 1990. The main research purpose was to describe and evaluate the differences in the geographical distribution of the electoral support for the Green Party and to determine the factors, which affect the voters, since the party was found up to date, to the last elections at 2013. The special emphasis was put on the factor "air pollution". In the analytic part, the geographic distribution of electoral support is tested with the correlation analysis, coefficient of variance, LISA analysis and regression. As important result may be mentioned the geographical shift of the electoral support between years 1990 and 2013, from the east to the centre of the Republic, and farther to Moravia. The correlation coefficient shows the instability of the electoral base. The main goal of this master thesis is to analyse the election campaign of the Czech Pirate Party in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2017. Even though the Pirate Party have participated in several elections since 2009, the election in 2017 brought the greatest electoral success. Nowadays, the external experts from various fields participate in the pre-election campaigns of the parties. Such cooperation usually lasts only during the pre-election campaign and it ends after the elections. These experts create campaign strategies and plans, train party leaders in communication, provide brand analyses, etc. The primary objective of this thesis is to analyse how the campaign of the Czech Pirate Party was conducted in 2017, whether they collaborated with external experts and what elements they had in their campaign.

Senior thesis "The development of electoral support of far-right parties in Slovakia during 2010-2016 and factors influencing this support" examines the development of electoral support of Slovak National Party and People's Party Our Slovakia using some of the tools of electoral support geography. The theoretical part is dedicated to existing definitions of extreme right-wing parties through which the choice of parties for further examination is made. The analytical part is split into two parts: the first classifies electoral support through the method of region and core of electoral support. At the same time, the first part defines regions which have had a stable electoral support throughout the entire observed period. All findings are presented in a cartographic form. Using an array of statistical tools, the latter part takes on the task of correlating the results of elections, in regards to far-right parties, with selected demographic characteristics of municiplaties, which are assumed to have positive impact upon the income of far-right parties.

This diploma theses presented deals with the development and electoral success of chosen populist parties and movements in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, and a comparison of the electoral success in those countries. The thesis is focused on the period between 2010 and 2019, given that the year 2010 represents a turning point considering election results in both countries. The first part of the thesis presents theoretical background of the study of populism and different understandings of the concept. The minimal definition of populism is presented there, together with three fundamental actors of populism which are then used to identify individual populist parties. The second and the third part of this thesis deal with the situation in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, respectively. We identify populist political parties and movements which are active on nationwide level and which managed to gain substantial results in parliamentary elections in the country or in elections to the European Parliament. The thesis examines a phenomenon of small political parties in the Czech Republic in the period since 1998 until now. It reveals their position in the Czech party system, their potential to survive in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and examines their chances of being a relevant coalition partner. The thesis is divided into 6 parts. An introduction opens the issue of small political parties. In the first chapter there is an identification of small political parties acting in the Czech political system. It focuses on their formation and development, their participation in elections, entering the Chamber of Deputies, prospective coalition cooperation and their current activity without any representation within the Parliament. In the next chapter the theses examines electoral systems and their key variables in regards to small political parties by using a concrete example of the election mechanism used for the Czech Chamber of Deputies.
