The search for a stand density that maximizes total volume growth has continued since the beginning of forestry without producing a definite answer. One of the reasons is that the effect of density on growth is not always separated from those of tree size and age. Such a separation is not easy when the relationship between density and growth is expressed as a graph (Langsaeter's curve). This study develops a simple model that accounts for each main growth predictor individually. Adopting an accurate micro-tensile method based on dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) instrument, the tensile strength of three kinds of copper-wire/solder/copper-wire sandwich structured microscale lead-free solder joints that underwent current stressing with a direct current density of 1.0×104 A/cm2 and loading time of 48 hours were investigated, and compared with those solder joints isothermal aged at 100 0C for 48 hours and as-reflowed condition. These three kinds of microscale columnar solder joints have different volumes, i.e., a same diameter of 300 μm but different heights of 100 μm, 20

Diode leakage current consists of diffusion (Id) and generation current (Ig), which is strongly sensitive to the residual defect density. These defects can be studied by activation energy (Ea). Therefore, this paper presents a method for calculating activation energy of silicon p-n junctions from volume generation current. It combines temperature-dependent current–voltage (I –V) and capacitance–voltage (C-V) measurements of diodes. The Igcan be found from the volume leakage current by subtraction of the volume diffusion current, which is calculated while the depletion width is zero. The activa

Abstract The critical temperature of the surface superconductivity in vanadium (Tcs) is found to be 0.04 K higher than the critical temperature of its volume superconductivity (Tcv). Surface superconductivity persistent currents can effectively trap a magnetic flux. The critical current density of the surface superconductivity is estimated at js = 5 × 106 A/cm2 at T = Tcv.

A population of NG108-15 neuroblastoma cells resistant to doxorubicin (NG/DOXR) was established. The cells exhibited a multidrug resistance phenotype with cross-resistance to vinblastin and colchicine, overexpression of a 170 kDa membrane protein identified as P-glycoprotein and reversal of resistance by verapamil and quinine. Compared with NG108-15 cells, NG/DOXR cells showed an increase in Na+ current density and a decrease in cyclic-AMP-activated Cl- current density with no change in K+- and volume-sensitive Cl- current densities. Forces were calculated by the Maxwell stress tensor and by volume force density. Numerical results for real and ideal contours with the same linear dimensions are discussed. Comparison between analytical and numerical data shows satisfactory agreement.

We have investigated the effect of initial microstructures on the change in critical current density (Jc) of Nb-46.5 wt%Ti (NbTi) superconducting material. It is well known that α-Ti phases distributed in NbTi material act as a flux pinning center, resulting in an improvement in critical current density. Therefore, it is crucial to obtain the grain-refined microstructure, which is strongly related with precipitation of uniformly distributed fine α-Ti phases and higher volume faction of α-Ti phases, as α-Ti phases are precipitated at the grain boundaries and triple points during heat treatments
