Abstract:
Yellow-throated martens (YTMs) are omnivores that often prey on wasps in late autumn in Korea. However, to the best of our knowledge, predation of the invasive alien species Vespa velutina nigrithorax (VVN) has not previously been investigated. In this study, YTM feces were collected and analyzed from Mt. Onggangsan, Sinwon-ri, Cheongdo, South Korea, where VVN density was high and YTMs were active. Surveys were conducted three times between October and December 2019, during which a total of 22 samples were collected. Debris from VVN was found in three samples, along with evidence of two indigenous wasps, Vespa crabro and Vespula koreensis. The VVN remains were identified as one queen, four males, one female, and one individual whose caste was unclear. Martens prey on wasps, owing to a sudden decrease in plant food sources from late autumn to early winter, mostly eating males and new queens attempting to mate. If VVN reproduction is prevented or disturbed by YTM predation, there may be potential biological control effects in areas with high VVN density. Further studies should be conducted to verify whether there is a practical biological control effect.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We have cloned a nuclease gene, vvn, from Vibrio vulnificus, an estuarine bacterium that causes wound infections and septicemia in humans and eels. The gene contained a 696-bp open reading frame encoding 232 amino acids (aa), including a signal sequence of 18 aa. The deduced amino acid sequence of the mature nuclease predicted a molecular mass of 25 kDa, which was confirmed by vital stain, and a pI of 8.6. Vvn was produced in the periplasm of either V. vulnificus or recombinant Escherichia coli strains and was active in the oxidized (but not the reduced) form. This nuclease was able to digest DNA and RNA, with differential thermostability in DNase and RNase activities. Expression of Vvn inE. coli DH5α reduced the frequencies of transformation with the divalent ion-treated cells and electroporation by about 6 and 2 logs, respectively. In addition, the transformation frequency of a Vvn-deficient V. vulnificus mutant (ND) was 10-fold higher than that of the parent strain. These data suggested that Vvn may be involved in preventing uptake of foreign DNA by transformation. However, Vvn expressed in the recipients had little effect on the conjugation frequency in either E. coli or V. vulnificus. Some other DNase(s) may be present in the periplasm and responsible for a residual DNase activity, which was about one-fourth of that of the parent strain, detected in the ND mutant. We also demonstrated that Vvn was not required for the virulence ofV. vulnificus mice.

Abstract:
Variable ventilation (VV), characterized by breath-to-breath variation of tidal volume (Vt) and breathing rate (f), has been shown to improve lung mechanics and blood oxygenation during acute lung injury in many species compared with conventional ventilation (CV), characterized by constant Vt and f. During CV as well as VV, the lungs of mice tend to collapse over time; therefore, the goal of this study was to develop a new VV mode (VVN) with an optimized distribution of Vt to maximize recruitment. Groups of normal and HCl-injured mice were subjected to 1 h of CV, original VV (VVO), CV with periodic large breaths (CVLB), and VVN, and the effects of ventilation modes on respiratory mechanics, airway pressure, blood oxygenation, and IL-1β were assessed. During CV and VVO, normal and injured mice showed regional lung collapse with increased airway pressures and poor oxygenation. CVLB and VVN resulted in a stable dynamic equilibrium with significantly improved respiratory mechanics and oxygenation. Nevertheless, VVN provided a consistently better physiological response. In injured mice, VVO and VVN, but not CVLB, were able to reduce the IL-1β-related inflammatory response compared with CV. In conclusion, our results suggest that application of higher Vt values than the single Vt currently used in clinical situations helps stabilize lung function. In addition, variable stretch patterns delivered to the lung by VV can reduce the progression of lung injury due to ventilation in injured mice.

Abstract:
The paper describes the assessment of the influence of climatic conditions, temperature and relative humidity on the lifespan of the cylinder forming the functional part of the vehicle TATRA 815 6x6 VVN. Based on the measured notch-toughness value in the test temperature range -80 °C to +100 °C, the corrosion effect on specimens with and without corrosion protection was evaluated. A condensation chamber was used to simulate corrosion conditions which can cause corrosion and degradation process in the material leading to lifetime reduction and limit state development. The duration of the corrosion laboratory tests in the condensation chamber considered the real time when the TATRA 815 6x6 VVN vehicle is exposed to climate change on an open area in the fleet. There were three sets of samples for simulations with different number of cycles (9, 18 and 27 cycles).

Abstract:
Mục tiêu: Đánh giá kết quả vách ngăn và triệu chứng nghẹt mũi sau phẫu thuật chỉnh hình vách ngăn bằng cải tiến kỹ thuật khâu xuyên vách ngăn đơn giản hơn. Phương pháp nghiên cứu: Mô tả loạt ca. Kết quả: Khảo sát 56 trường hợp phẫu thuật chỉnh hình và khâu xuyên vách ngăn có tuổi trung bình là 42,5 ± 11,2 tuổi (khoảng 22 đến 64 tuổi); nam là 35 trường hợp (62,5%) nữ là 21 trường hợp (37,5%). Tất cả đều có nghẹt mũi, nghẹt 1 bên là 19 ca (33,9%), nghẹt 2 bên là 20 ca (35,7%), nghẹt mũi kèm viêm xoang chưa cần can thiệp phẫu thuật là 17 ca (30,4%). Thời gian bệnh trung bình là 2,8 ± 1,2 năm (từ 1 đến 5 năm). Thời gian theo dõi trung bình là 14 ± 05 tháng (khoảng 9 – 22 tháng). Kết quả VN thẳng là 38/56 trường hợp (67,8%), còn vẹo nhẹ là 18/56 ca (32,2%); triệu chứng nghẹt mũi giảm rõ rệt, thay đổi tốt hơn có ý nghĩa thống kê theo từng nhóm. Kết quả cho thấy nhóm tốt là 44 ca (78,6%), nhóm khá là 11 ca (19,6%) nhóm trung bình là 1 ca (1,8%); không ghi nhận tai biến trong và sau phẫu thuật. Kết luận: khâu xuyên vách ngăn trong phẫu thuật chỉnh hình vách ngăn cho kết quả đa sốtốt trong nhóm VVN đơn thuần, đa sốkhá trong nhóm VVN+quá phát cuốn dưới và đa sốtrung bình trong nhóm VVN+có triệu chứng viêm xoang.

Abstract Developmental neuroimaging studies report the emergence of increasingly diverse cognitive functions as closely entangled with a rise-fall modulation of cortical thickness (CTh), structural cortical and white-matter connectivity, and a time-course for the experience-dependent selective elimination of the overproduced synapses. We examine which of two visual processing networks, the dorsal (DVN; prefrontal, parietal nodes) or ventral (VVN; frontal-temporal, fusiform nodes) matures first, thus leading the neuro-cognitive developmental trajectory. Three age-dependent measures are reported: (i) the CTh at network nodes; (ii) the matrix of intra-network structural connectivity (edges); and (iii) the proficiency in network-related neuropsychological tests. Typically developing children (age ~6 years), adolescents (~11 years), and adults (~21 years) were tested using multiple-acquisition structural T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and neuropsychology. MRI images reconstructed into a gray/white/pial matter boundary model were used for CTh evaluation. No significant group differences in CTh and in the matrix of edges were found for DVN (except for the left prefrontal), but a significantly thicker cortex in children for VVN with reduced prefrontal ventral-fusiform connectivity and with an abundance of connections in adolescents. The higher performance in children on tests related to DVN corroborates the age-dependent MRI structural connectivity findings. The current findings are consistent with an earlier maturational course of DVN.

My master's thesis is focused on grounding of HV switchgear. The aim of this work is to create a computer program intended for dimensioning of earthing networks. The earthing networks are the most convenient alternative in term of effective grounding and distribution of ponential. They are based on latiny a flat conductor network cables and connection of appliance parts to network. Introduction of the thesis is dedicated to explanation of grounding theory and to description of requirements essential for properly designed earthing system (dimensioning of earthing system). Following chapter brings description of computer program algorithm testing propriety of an assigned earthing network for a particular switchgear. The chapter also contains description of an user interface and explanation of all features, included in the program. Last part provides presentation of program utilization to particular numerical assignment.

Abstract:
Chránění paralelních a souběžných vedení je skutečně problematické z důvodů účinku vzájemné indukčnosti vedení v souběhu, odporu poruchy nebo rozložení zpětného proudu poruchy, které zkreslují impedanci jednofázové poruchy „viděné“ distanční ochranou. Proto současné numerické distanční ochrany nabízí kompenzační funkce, které je možno použít pro korekci charakteristik a výpočtu vzdálenosti poruchy pomocí lokátorů její charakteristice s dostatečnou odporovou rezervou a možnosti nastavení odpovídajícího režimu vypnutí. Tato práce se zabývá problémy, kterým čelí lokátor distanční ochrany při měření a výpočtu vzdálenosti místa jednofázové poruchy, a také mapuje současný stav řešení těchto problémů. Na základě výpočtu parametrů zadaného vedení bylo provedeno zhodnocení možných chyb při lokalizaci jednofázové poruchy a navrženo nastavení distanční ochrany určené k jeho chránění včetně nastavení parametrů určených pro kompenzaci výše uvedených negativních jevů. Bylo zjištěno, že zemnící lana a transpozice vedení přispívají k přesnosti lokátorů, protože nejmenší chyba byla zjištěna v transponovaném vedení se zemním lanem.

Diploma thesis is oriented on measuring and evaluation of grounding conditions of HV pylons. In theoretical part is described theory of grounding including related legislation, impact of electric current on human body, methods of measuring earth resistance, soil resitivity and description of available measurers. Practical part is focused on measuring earth resistance of selected pylons and measuring procedures followed by evaluation of measurements according to person's safety from dangerous touch voltage and impact of lightings. For evauluation of measured data is created supporting tool in MS Excel. In the last part of thesis are described recommendations for cutting-down touch voltages.

L’elaborato fornisce un’analisi di tre differenti applicazioni di attuazione variabile per il controllo e l’ottimizzazione dei motori a combustione interna. Sono stati esaminati vantaggi ed eventuali problematiche, ed esposti esempi pratici di diagrammi di distribuzione nel caso di applicazione ad un motore tradizionale ad accensione comandata a ciclo Otto, ad un motore ad accensione comandata a ciclo Miller e, infine, ad un motore a ciclo Otto funzionante tramite accensione per compressione di una carica omogenea (HCCI). In tutti e tre i casi si sono ottenuti benefici derivanti dall’applicazione dell’attuazione variabile. Gli unici svantaggi rispetto alla fasatura fissa risiedono nella maggior complicazione costruttiva e nella necessità di una calibrazione adeguata per lo sfruttamento del sistema. Delle tre tecnologie esaminate, l’applicazione a motori Otto ad accensione comandata risulta essere la più matura, con un livello di sviluppo altissimo e larga diffusione nella produzione commerciale; l’applicazione dei cicli Miller occupa una fetta di mercato molto ridotta, ma diversi costruttori ne stanno portando avanti lo sviluppo da tempo, arrivando ormai ad alti livelli di ottimizzazione, per cui il suo utilizzo sui veicoli commerciali, in particolare quelli ibridi, è destinato a crescere. La combustione HCCI è la più acerba delle tre tecnologie, ma l’interesse dei costruttori sull’argomento è molto vivo e diversi produttori hanno pubblicato risultati di ricerca in questo ambito.

Abstract:
Der Literatur- und Medienwissenschaftler Tobias Wilke widmet sich in seinem Aufsatz der in der Forschung bislang unbeachtet gebliebenen Beziehung von »Aura« und »Medium«. Dem Begriff des technischen Mediums, so Wilke, liegt ein nicht-technisches Konzept von Medialität zugrunde, das sich in enger Korrelation und Konvergenz mit dem Aura-Begriff herausbildet. Die Aura ist die sichtbare Umhüllung eines Objekts und damit ein Phänomen der optischen Wahrnehmung, in der die Konturen des Gegenstandes aufgelöst werden, wie Benjamin am Beispiel von Van Goghs De sterrennacht ausführt. Wilke verortet Benjamins Kunstwerk-Aufsatz an einer medienhistorischen Zäsur, die den Übergang von einem spiritistischen zu einem technologischen Verständnis von Medialität markiert.

Michael Jonas beschäftigt sich in diesem Beitrag mit der Architektur- und Baugeschichte der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität, Universität der Bundeswehr, in Hamburg-Jenfeld. Inspiriert von Mies van der Rohe spiegelt das in den frühen 1970er Jahren unter Federführung des Stuttgarter Architekturbüros Heinle, Wischer und Partner entstandene Gebäudeensemble modellhaft viele der Charakteristika der modernen Hochschullandschaft: räumliche Offenheit und damit die bewusste Herstellung von Öffentlichkeit, Transparenz und Integration in die unmittelbare Nachbarschaft und die Stadtgesellschaft. Mit ähnlich utopischer Kraft sollte der Bau zugleich als Vehikel fungieren, um der Bundeswehr an einem Ort exemplarisch die in ihrer Institutionslogik angelegte Tendenz zur subkulturellen Absonderung und Selbst-Ghettoisierung auszutreiben.

Doch die Steuermittel sind knapp und haben viele gute Verwendungen. Auch die Regionalförderung muss sich mit ihrem Nutzen rechtfertigen. Ist sie tatsächlich wirksam, die Entwicklung benachteiligter Gebiete mit zusätzlichen Investitionen anzustossen? Oder erschöpft sie sich in reinen Mitnahmeeffekten, indem sie Investitionen fördert, welche die Unternehmen ohnehin getätigt hätten? Führt sie zu einer Verlagerung von Investitionen und Beschäftigung von nicht geförderten zu geförderten Gebieten, ohne dass die Gesamtwirtschaft profitiert? ZusammenfassungDie Superstars unter den Firmen dominieren die Wirtschaft. Sie sind überaus innovativ, besetzen als Erste den Markt und erzielen überdurchschnittlich hohe Gewinnspannen. Mit viel Knowhow und einer hoch qualifizierten, aber sehr kleinen Belegschaft dominieren sie die Branchen und erzielen den Löwenanteil der Wertschöpfung. Die gesamtwirtschaftliche Lohnquote fällt, wenn sich die Wertschöpfung von den übrigen Unternehmen mit höherer Lohnquote zu den Superstars mit geringem Lohnanteil verschiebt. Gerade in den innovativsten Branchen sind die Konzentrationstendenzen und der Rückgang der Lohnquote am stärksten. In anderen Bereichen, wie bei den friedenserhaltenden Maßnahmen wurde das Engagement reduziert. Österreich war zwar nie in der Lage, großpolitische Wetterlagen umzukehren, konnte aber doch – vor allem im Kalten Krieg – erfolgreich daran mitarbeiten, bestehende internationale Konstellationen in seinem Sinne auszugestalten.

Abstract:
Reducing vehicle fuel consumption while respecting pollutants emission standards has been a major concern over the last decades in the automotive industry. Consequently, Spark Ignition (SI) engine air-paths can now incorporate devices such as Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Variable Valve Timing (VVT) or Actuation (VVA), Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) or even Variable Compression Ratio (VCR). Optimizing the settings for all these devices made engine development more complex and challenging. The development of engine control strategy can be efficiently performed through system simulation with a complete engine simulator, as it allows describing the phenomenological process occurring in the engine while requiring reasonable quantity of measurement data. CPU time is also a constraint, therefore 0-dimensional models are commonly used, particularly to represent in-cylinder combustion process. Still, the combustion model has to account for the influence of air-path settings, as they strongly impact turbulence in chamber and the resulting combustion speed. This paper focuses on the system simulation version of the Coherent Flame Model (CFM1D), more precisely on its development to make it more predictive to different air path settings variations. Based on previous work, the equations of a K-k family turbulence model are introduced to replace the simplified turbulence model, on which CFM1D lies during closed valve operation to determine the increase of the flame front speed compared to laminar case. In the same time, the initialisation of turbulence variable at the intake valve closure (IVC) is modified to better take into account VVT effects. Additionally, an optional equation accounting for the physical description of the laminar to turbulent transition is proposed and discussed, allowing to further simplify the calibration process. The improved model is calibrated to fit measurements on reference engine operating points, and played on different settings including variations on spark advance VVT, VVA, VCR and EGR. The achieved results bring out the advantage of the new approach in terms model sensitivity and robustness, while pointing out further areas of improvement.

Este trabalho identifica e sistematiza o ecossistema de inovação do Distrito Federal destacando o papel da Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa do Distrito Federal (FAP-DF) para o desenvolvimento de empreendimentos inovadores (startups e novas empresas de base tecnológica). O estudo fundamentanta-se em pesquisa qualitativa documental e descritiva, considerando os fatores benéficos de desenvolvimento propostos por Stam e Van de Ven (2019). Os resultados demonstram a promissora expansão do ecossistema do DF, e especificamente o papel FAP-DF evidenciado nos contextos institucional e de recursos facilitando o desenvolvimento destes empreendimentos por meio de apoio institucional para a disseminação da inovação, recursos para qualificação em PD&I, e investimentos por subvenção econômica.

Abstract:
This paper presents the simulation model of an oil lubrication gerotor pump for the internal combustion engine. The model was constructed by using a mono-dimensional commercial code taking into account all the phenomena that occur during the revolution of the pump shaft. First of all, several geometric considerations and theoretical observation are presented. An experimental campaign was also performed to validate the simulation model. In these experimental tests particular attention was regarded to the behavior of the pressure oscillations during the pump shaft revolutions. The final aim of this activity is to obtain an instrument that allows in-depth analysis of pump and lubrication circuit functioning and that can be coupled with other models (e.g. VVA, VVT, etc.) in order to take into account different problems of the hydraulic components of engines.

In this paper a numerical method is developed for the integration of the unsteady two-dimensional Euler equations using a third-order upwind-biased scheme with Van Leer flux-vector-splitting and Von Albada limiters, with MUSCL space-discretization, and an explicit two-stage Runge-Kutta time-integration procedure. The method is applied to the numerical computation of flows in a transonic nozzle with fluctuating back-pressure, and compared with available experimental data. The effects of frequency and amplitude on the shock-wave response are studied in detail. Despite the use of an inviscid flow model the unsteady pressures are quite satisfactorily predicted over the range of frequencies studied. The numerical method is then used to study the effect of the back-pressure fluctuation amplitude on the shock-wave oscillation. At large amplitudes the flowfield response to back-pressure fluctuation is essentially nonlinear.

Aprašyta valiutų kursų techninė analizė, kuri papildo fundamentaliąją analizę. Remiantis literatūros analize, pasirinkta tinkamiausia fundamentaliosios analizės teorija tolesnei plėtrai, papildant ją technine analize ir investuotojo psichologijos metodais.
