Abstract:
This masters thesis identifies and analyzes the aspects and specifics of branding of an artist in the art industry, which is relatively different from the branding which we know from the corporate world. The first section defines the theoretical background of the branding and marketing communication with focus on those aspects that are relative to an art and its market specifics. Theoretical definition in combination with the outcome of qualitative research, which was conducted with outperforming contemporary artists and representatives of leading galleries in Czech Republic, helps to outline the most important factors and subjects influencing the artists brand creation process which is described in the practical part of this masters thesis. Besides the quality of the piece of art itself, the aspect of the strong brand is unquestionably increasing the value of artists production. Therefore, this chapter investigates those factors and subjects that have remarkable impact on the value of the artists pieces of art. The last section of this paper gives local and international best examples of contemporary artists with strong brand.

An important part of the thesis deals with presentation of arts in the space of shopping centre Galerie Vaňkovka Brno and provides particular examples which demonstrate benefits of cooperation of a shopping centre with individual artists or cultural institutions. The most significant point of the thesis is the marketing research conducted among visitors to Galerie Vaňkovka. On the sample of 200 respondents I examined how the visitors to Galerie Vaňkovka perceive presentation of arts in the space of shopping centre. The conclusion which I reached is that presentation of arts in such spaces can support significantly the marketing of arts and cultural institutions.

As a locality for experiment I chose a street I live in for five years, and simultaneously had a wretched destiny – the Křížová Street of Old Brno district. Abstract:
The diploma thesis Anthology of Unspoken is a form of personal therapy, a coping mechanism in the shape of an extensive personal research presented by visually eclectic web, which maps the perception of depression and melancholy in terms of historical, artistic, and partly academic discourse. AoU takes the form of a website on the border of an archive and a research blog, which visually reminds a notebook with the use of texts in the form of notes, reader view essays, and accompanying visual material (period paintings, pop-cultural references, emoticons etc.). This diploma thesis has two main goals. Firstly, it represents a way of finding means to articulate and at least fractionally understand my own problems. Secondly, it is a way of finding answers to the following questions: Is depression really a modern matter of the 21st century? Why is it so difficult to talk about it? Where do the shame and feeling of guilt, with which it is inextricably associated with, come from? Is melancholy synonymous with depression, or do these terms differ from each other? And is depression really a disease or is it only a sign of my own failure?

Abstract:
In terms of the current rapidly growing investigative interest in the history of clothing (whether according to seasons, professional groups or geographic areas) the estate dress of Christian priesthood stands rather aside. It is caused also by the fact that within the overall history of clothing this subject represents a very specific group characterized by uninterrupted continuity, rich symbolism affirmed not only by the church regulations, but also by a local tradition. The theological teaching on priesthood and priestly estate formed as early as in the early centuries, nevertheless it did not remain a mere teaching, but it also had a practical impact on the life of a clergyman and his surroundings. The priest became the guarantor of social order and its associated values. Thus, a visible distinction between the priest and the rest of the community got even a symbolic dimension. This dissertation traces the ways in which the teaching on priesthood and priestly mission changed in the Christian community on the background of the general Church history. The priestly dress clearly communicates how a priest was perceived by a community, by the Church (or more precisely by the canon law), as well as how he perceived himself. All this is compared with extant visual material and analysis of surviving...

Abstract:
In my dissertation, I inquire into the phenomenon of monastic architecture and its plastic decoration in 16th century New Spain. The aim of this work is to present Mexican monasteries and their artistic significance. In my analysis, I build on the interpretation of monastic architecture from the perspective of early colonial society, I also reflect on the individual level, assessing its impact on the conquest and colonization of America. The methodology of this research project combines analysis of historical (e.g. study of historical sources) and art historical processes (iconological analysis of E. Panofsky) with analysis of anthropological concepts (e.g. rituals of transition of A. van Gennep, thick description of Cl. Geertz, concepts of liminality, structure and communitas of V. Turner). During my PhD studies, I conducted a field trip in Central Mexico (2013), supported by a grant from the Government of Mexico. I visited and documented one hundred and sixteen monasteries and the photographic documentation is the main empirical source of my analysis which further draws from the study of historical sources and academic literature. The diploma thesis deals with the issue of public attitude towards the state cultural policy. It examines the changes of media discourse regarding the state support of the art after 1989. Articles from "Lidové noviny" and "Právo" from the years 1990-1993, 1995-1996, 2005 and 2013 have been analysed. The selection focuses on such periods in which the issue of the relation between the state and culture was discussed in a greater extent (the period of essential changes of cultural infrastructure within the framework of economic transformation, publishing of the so-called White Book as the first cultural policy draft, discussion regarding the manifestation for "1% for the Culture" and the petition action "Safe the Culture"). The results of critical discourse analysis of media texts are complemented and partly confronted with the quantitative analysis of public opinion polls.

Abstract:
The main topic of this thesis is the role of media in society with respect to the relation between media, society and culture. The thesis aims to reassess selected issues, based on critical theory of media and society, and to verify their relevance in contemporary Czech context. These subjects are theoretically based on several concepts of authors connected with the so called Frankfurt School and on the critical theory developed by their followers. Their opinions are applied on the Czech environment through the perspective of cultural studies because of the shift in social and historical context since the former theories appeared. After media studies left the ideas of technological determinism, their dominant paradigm has changed to social constructivism, being interested in the meaning of media contents. In cultural studies, the meaning is interpreted using tools of structural and semiotic analysis. The same research perspective and method are applied in this thesis. Considering the interpretation of meaning in the representation of art in the program Události v kultuře, we could partly reflect on the mythology and ideology of Czech society in its relation to culture. Folk religiosity during High Middle Ages and Early Modern times as reflected in material culture (the example of small ceramic sculpture) This work focuses on study of religious practice and urban everyday life of urban folk groups in Prague Towns from High Middle Ages till Early Modern times. Analogies from the Central Europe will be considered in the process of evaluation of the assemblage mentioned above. It is not known exactly what the purpose of these artifacts was and it is still a subject of discussion, into which we will try to bring some new light. Right iconographic interpretation requires a comparation with some other objects of folk religiosity and urban everyday life (such as medallions and other small holy objects, pilgrim signs, pilgrimage pictures,...

It influences the speed of execution of the technique and improves sports performance. Flexibility can be amplified not only by the traditional stretching method, bud also by strength training. However, this is not the case with the development of maximum strength. There is no established test in testing methodology for evaluating flexibility. Abstract:
This diploma thesis seeks above all to introduce the German concept of artistic education into the context of the Czech art education and to compare it with some of the didactical tendencies within this field. Based on the analysis of German and English publications, firstly the pivotal theoretical influences of the concept are introduced, and then its specifics, educational methods and goals are described. The theoretical section is concluded by examples of practical approaches using the described concept in the field of German school praxis. The empirical-practical section, that is based on the author's personal experiences gained during Erasmus studies in Germany (Karlsruhe, University of Education, Institute of Art), introduces how the concept is being applied during the training of university students, in particular on the level of the artistic and pedagogical praxis. This section also contains a reflection of the concept of artistic education's influence on the author's own artistic work. The second section concludes by analysing two student projects in a German school, applying the methods of artistic education, and outlines how these projects could be improved. At the end of the thesis the results of the theoretical, empirical and practical sections are summarized and evaluated. Questions...
