David Richard Walker’s Metrology of the Roman Silver Coinage analyzed the silver content of over 5000 Roman denarii, antoniniani, and drachmae using x-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry. His results have been widely cited and used by scholars in the fields of Roman economic theory and numismatics. This thesis seeks to prove that Walker’s XRF results were not only inaccurate, but inconsistently so. The progress of the Roman Catholic Church in Wales under a succession of able bishops between 1916 and 1962 was striking. The Church grew in strength, stature, and confidence. La céramique à paroi fine est un groupe de vaisselle romaine parmi les plus représentés sur les sites archéologiques. Un échantillonnage important (environ 25000 fragments) a été mis au jour dans les différents secteurs fouillés de la cité étrusco-romaine de Musarna (territoire de Tarquinia). Son étude a permis d'identifier cinquante-huit formes de vases et de retracer leur évolution technique. Leur comparaison avec le matériel provenant des sites voisins, de l'Étrurie, de toute la péninsule italique, et des territoires conquis a conduit à l'identification de plusieurs zones de production. This thesis explores modalities in two hagiographical collections from the late Middle Ages; the Legenda Aurea and the Gilte Legende by drawing inspiration from post-colonial hybridity theories.. It conducts a close textual analysis by studying the use of pronouns in five saints’ legends where female saints transcend traditional gender identities and become men, and focuses on how they transcend, live as men, and die.
