Abstract:
Experimental Fluid Dynamics (EFD) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) have been instrumental in Fluid Mechanics to help solve scientific and engineering problems. This research attempts to use both techniques to perform a parametric study of turbulence flow around airfoil ClarkY-14 at various velocity and angle of attack (AoA). Clark Y-14 airfoil was designed in the 1920’s. It demonstrated good overall performance at low and moderate Reynolds numbers. With the progress in the aviation field, its performance was sub-optimal for newer aircraft designs. However, with the advent of RC airplanes

Cryotherapy, also called cryosurgery, cryoablation or targeted cryoablation therapy, is a minimum invasive treatment that uses extreme cold temperatures to freeze and destroy damage tissue, like tumors or cancer cells. During cryotherapy, a refrigerant as liquid nitrogen or argon gas is forced to flow inside a probe. This probe is similar to a needle and it is called cryoprobe. Once the refrigerant is inside this cryoprobe the temperature decreases below zero Celsius in a given time, creating an intense cold that contacts the diseased tissue. With advances in computing power and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) algorithms, the complexity of CutCell based simulation models has significantly increased. In this study three dimensional numerical simulations were created for steady incompressible flow around an airfoil shape. Boundary layer thickness, mesh expansion ratio, and mesh density variation parameters were examined. Drag and lift coefficients were compared to measured data. Use of the CutCel
