Abstract:
THE VICTORIANS' PASSION FORplants has been well established as a defining feature of the period, and scholars from the humanities and the sciences – from literature, history, anthropology, botany, art, and religion – have lavishly documented how this obsession pervaded every aspect of nineteenth-century British life, creating what was truly the golden age for the “Culture of Flowers,” to borrow the title of Jack Goody's ethnobotanical study tracing traditional and ceremonial uses of flowers through history and around the globe. As Brent Elliott argues, improvements in greenhouse design beginning in 1817 and the use of the Wardian case from the 1830s for transporting plants by ship led to an unprecedented number of plant introductions to England, especially those intended for ornamental purposes (8–13). Decorative plants either of the indigenous, old-fashioned varieties or exotic new species were now widely available and visible everywhere – in vast public garden beds or small cottage plots; in pots or cut arrangements in the homes and on the window sills of the middle class and the well-to-do; in theaters, meeting halls, and fashionable shops; in churches for weddings, funerals, and holidays; in the boutonnieres of dandies and at the wrists, bosoms, and in the hair of ladies; for sale on the streets in flower carts and stalls; and in the shops of the burgeoning florist trade.

Abstract:
AbstractIntroduction:In this study, we share our experience in the Warden procedure for the repair of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connections (PAPVCs) draining high in the superior caval vein in 65 cases of the paediatric age group over a period of 10 years.Patients and methods:In total, 65 patients receiving the Warden procedure for the repair of high PAPVCs (draining above the cavoatrial junction) over a period of 10 years starting from January, 2010 to January, 2020 were included in this study. Results:In total, 34 were males (52.3%) and 31 were females (47.7%). The mean age was 3.47 ± 1.4 years, while the mean weight was 17.3 ± 5.3 kilograms. The mean bypass time was 84.2 ± 13.9 minutes and the mean cross clamp time was 54.8 ± 12.9 minutes. The mean intensive care unit stay was 2.14 ± 0.89 days, while the mean hospital stay was 5.9 ± 1.4 days. There was no in-hospital mortality or persistent sinus node dysfunction necessitating permanent pacemaker. In total, 62 patients (95%) could be followed up for a mean period of 7.8 ± 1.2 years after discharge. During the follow-up period, no stenosis was detected in the Warden anastomosis or the rerouted pulmonary veins and only one case of late mortality (1.6%) occurred due to a non-cardiac cause. Conclusion:The Warden procedure is a safe approach for the repair of high PAPVCs (above the cavoatrial junction) in the paediatric age group with good long-term results and low incidence of complications like sinus node dysfunction as well as pulmonary vein and superior caval vein obstruction.

The Warden procedure for the correction of a right-sided partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the high superior vena cava is well established. It has the advantages of avoiding sinoatrial node dysfunction and pulmonary and systemic venous obstruction. In the case related here, a 3-year-old girl presented with a superior vena cava type of sinus venosus atrial septal defect and an anomalously draining right upper pulmonary vein, with bilateral superior venae cavae. Our approach to the Warden procedure was through a right posterolateral thoracotomy, which provided additional advantages.

Abstract:
Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return is a congenital anomaly in which some of the pulmonary veins drain into the right atrium or one of its venous tributaries. Although excellent long-term results have been described for the classic two-patch technique repair in older patients, The Warden procedure has an important role in smaller and younger patients and those patients in whom the superior vena cava (SVC) may be small and the right-sided pulmonary veins may connect high, at or above the azygos vein. In addition to prevention of early and late sinus node dysfunction, the Warden procedure helps to avoid systemic or pulmonary venous obstruction if care is taken to ensure a tension-free Warden anastomosis. Patch extension or interposition of prosthetic grafts with no growth potential have been used in instances of high partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) to SVC. We report three cases of high PAPVC to SVC using an innovative technique of incorporating the azygos vein into the Warden anastomosis for a tension-free suture line.

Abstract:
Objective: To compare otologic outcomes in patients with cleft palate who underwent 2 different surgical protocols. Design: Monocentric retrospective analysis of medical reports. Patients, Participants: All consecutively treated patients affected by a cleft palate, born between January 1998 and December 2002 (group 1) and between January 2007 and December 2010 (group 2). Interventions: Patients in group 1 underwent Veau-Wardill-Kilner palatoplasty at 10 months and had ventilation tubes inserted in case of otitis media with effusion (OME) during surgery. Patients in group 2 underwent Sommerlad intravelar veloplasty at 5 months. Ventilation tubes were inserted only in case of persistent OME. Main Outcome Measure(s): The need for a second set of ventilation tubes to be inserted in case of persistent OME, the presence of OME at the age of 2 years, and tympanic abnormalities at the age of 5 years were analyzed. Results: There was no statistically significant difference either for the presence of OME at the age of 2 years (27 [45%] vs 32 [57.14%], respectively, in groups 1 and 2; P = .191) or for tympanic abnormalities at the age of 5 years (20 [33.33%] vs 15 [26.79%]; P = .433). Statistically significant difference was found for the need to insert a second set of ventilation tubes in case of persistent OME (29 [48.33%] vs 12 [21.42%], respectively; P = .02). Conclusion: Early Sommerlad intravelar veloplasty may reduce persistent OME and consequently the need for ventilation tubes insertion, compared to later Veau-Wardill-Kilner palatoplasty.

Abstract:
Abstract Recent scholarship in Dutch literature of the interwar years has revalued to an important degree the genre of regional or rural literature. Whereas existent research in this field mainly zooms in on the thematic motives and rhetorical structures of the regional text, this paper aims at combining a textual and contextual approach. It hopes to do so by linking the functions of the regional genre to the construction of the regional author’s ethos or authority outside his oeuvre. One author here functions as a representative case in point: Warden Oom (Edward Vermeulen), a once successful but now forgotten Flemish folk writer and regionalist. This paper analyzes how Vermeulen, in autobiographical documents and interviews, embodies both an encyclopedic and an artistic authority. These two forms of extra-literary authority are a means to guarantee, so the argument goes, the efficacy of the informative and documentary as well as the esthetic functions of Vermeulen’s regional oeuvre. In this way, this paper not only pays attention to the rarely documented and therefore highly neglected voice of the regional author himself but it also grasps these autobiographical writings to situate the regional text in its broader context. Moreover, this article’s focus on the esthetic ambitions and functions of the regional author and his oeuvre may shed a new light on a genre which is usually considered to be heteronomous in the first place.

Abstract:
Rationale: The surgical procedure for partial abnormal pulmonary venous return (PAPV) implies the formation of a tunnel between the orifices of the right pulmonary veins and the left atrial cavity with the interatrial septum repair. To avoid any obstruction of the tunnel, a direct anastomosis between the superior vena cava (SVC) and the right atrial appendage is placed in a number of cases. However, the reparative procedure is potentially associated with such complications as SVC stenosis and/or pulmonary vein stenosis. Aim: To present our experience of reoperations for stenosis of systemic and pulmonary veins after primary PAPV repair. Materials and methods: From 2014 to 2018, seven patients (boys, 4) with SVC stenosis and/or with stenosis of the right pulmonary veins have been admitted to the FCHMT (Kaliningrad). Their mean bodyweight was 29.1 kg (± 12.5 kg), mean age 9.3 years (± 3.6 years). Three patients had an isolated SVC stenosis. In two patients, there was a combination of SVC stenosis and pulmonary vein obstruction (from stenosis to complete occlusion); in one patient the right pulmonary vein stenosis had been caused by thrombosis. SVC stenosis with subaortal obstruction after the repair of double-outlet right ventricle was diagnosed in one case. In six patients, various procedures for correction of SVC and/or pulmonary vein stenosis were performed. Only in one case the obstruction of systemic veins, confirmed by cardiac catheterization, turned out to be non-significant, making a reoperation unnecessary. Results: There were no deaths in this patient group. Endovascular procedures were performed in two patients. In one case, there was an unsuccessful attempt of transluminal balloon angioplasty for SVC stenosis, with subsequent Warden procedure. In another case, a 16-year old patient with SVC stenosis and high pulmonary hypertension was admitted after two previous surgeries had failed. We used a homograft as SVC prosthesis; however, after one year, a re-stenosis was identified. In this case, a SVC stent placement was successful. Due to sick sinus syndrome at one year after the Warden procedure and the repair of pulmonary veins by a homograft, an implantation of electric cardiac pacemaker was necessary in one patient. Conclusion: The curative repair of partial abnormal venous return is a well-established surgical technique with satisfactory shortand long-term results. A potential complication of the procedure is an obstruction of systemic and pulmonary veins. To prevent such complications during primary defect repair, as well as with reoperations for vein stenosis, the Warden procedure seems effective and highly reproducible technique associated with lower surgical risks.

Abstract:
Major reforms in assessment policy in Queensland secondary schools have occurred during the past 30 years. In each case, the reforms resulted from the adoption of recommendations, produced by a panel of experts, which constituted the design for a new system. Two features of the designs—their underlying philosophy and the status and technical adequacy of the recommendations—affected their prospects of success. Other influences were the experiences of teachers and public opinion as expressed and shaped through the media. Although substantial procedural changes were made to each assessment system during its operating life, these adjustments seemed incapable of warding off a crisis of professional and public confidence. In this article, crises in the reform cycles are analysed and interpreted in terms of legitimation theory.

Subject area Marketing management, consumer behaviour, rural marketing and integrated marketing communications. Study level/applicability The case is for the use of undergraduate and also postgraduate students of management in courses of marketing management, consumer behaviour, rural marketing and integrated marketing communications. This case may also be used in human resources’ management course lectures which focus on social capital. Case overview This case on the Centre of Science for Villages (CSV), Wardha, attempts to identify how value can be co-created through innovative technology and how social capital can be developed for rural markets through the use of integrated marketing communications tools, particularly word-of-mouth and the influence of opinion leaders. Effective campaigns can be designed for the target audience based on the 3A framework (Awareness, Adoption and Addition of Value) and McGuire’s Model of Persuasion. The CSV has been typically chosen for the study because its products are unique, innovative and eco-friendly and blend well with the rural lives. It has been able to enrich the lives of rural population by generating employment and in creating entrepreneurial opportunities. The biggest challenge, however, lies in educating rural consumers to accept and adopt its innovative technology in their daily lives. Expected learning outcomes The case study has been written to enable students to understand the concepts of value co-creation and social capital in the context of Indian rural markets. The students will learn the dynamics of rural markets by pondering over these points: understand the concept of value co-creation for rural markets; comprehend the creation of social ecology for managing knowledge in an organisation; identify the development and role of social capital and use it as a promotional tool, particularly word-of-mouth and opinion leaders(reference groups); recommend the use of different marketing mix variables for an organisation, operating in rural markets; and connote designing of effective campaigns for the target audience, based on the 3A framework and the Persuasion Model (6 steps) suggested by McGuire. AbstractAlthough war and militarization have loomed large in the history of the United States for well over a century, labor historians have only infrequently examined the relationship between American labor and the military. The career of General Brice Pursell Disque suggests the complex flow of ideas and personnel back and forth between labor relations in the military and in the civilian economy. First involved with the management of labor as an officer during the Spanish-American War, Disque went on to serve as a prison warden, the head of an army effort to suppress labor radicalism in the timber industry during the First World War, and in business posts involving collective bargaining. Through Disque we can begin to see the multiple connections between labor relations in the so-called free market of the private sphere and in the decidedly unfree arenas of military and penal life.

In addition, the number of moisturizing cream products that are currently making many women confused in choosing a moisturizing cream. Therefore researchers used a Decision Support System (SPK) with the ELECTRE algorithm in recommending the selection of a moisturizing cream based on consumer ratings. In this case the researchers used several assessment criteria including: product price (C1), side effects of usage (C2), product quality (C3), customer commitment (C4), customer trust (C5) and usage reaction (C6). While the alternatives used include: Citra Hazeline (A1), Fair & Lovely (A2), Garnier (A3), Olay (A4), Sariayu (A5) and Wardah (A6). The results of the assessment using the ELECTRE method are Fair & Lovely (A2) and Wardah (A6) as the best moisturizing cream recommendations based on consumer choice

Abstract:
This paper considers the principle that it is sufficient to establish causation in fact in tort to show that the defendant's act or omission made a material contribution to the harm. It examines the leading case, Bonnington Castings v Wardlaw, and other authorities and argues that the principle involves an application of the but-for test and not an exception to it. If exceptions to the but-for test are to be made, they should be clearly articulated and justified, as, for example, in Fairchild. A broad interpretation of ‘material contribution’ as establishing in some cases such an exception provides insufficient clarity and is certainly to be supported.

For as long as I have been acquainted with them, the poems in which the above lines occur have held a peculiar fascination for me. With their rhythmic refrains, Glatshteyn′s “Der Rayzeman” (“The Travelman”), Halpern′s “Der Gasnpoyker” (“The Street Drummer”), and Manger′s “Eynzam” (“Lonely”) are lodged in my mind,1 cropping up periodically in almost–and in the case of “Eynzam,” literally–musical form. Yet it is only recently that I have come to see a special connection between these three diverse works. The present article explores this connection. Specifically, I wish to address the function of repetition and show how a much-used poetic device simultaneously points to a psychological realm otherwise easy to ignore.

Abstract:
Introduction: Dyslipidemia is not mentioned in Ayurveda but it can be correlated with Medoroga. Nidanparivarjana is the main treatment principle of Ayurveda. The lifestyle modification is a part of the management for patients with Dyslipidemia, regardless of pharmacologic intervention. Aims and Objectives: To study the etiological factors of Dyslipidemia related to Ahar and Vihar (Dietary & Behavioral regimen). Material And Methods: Analytical case control study was conducted in which total 100 subjects were randomly selected from OPD and IPD of Kayachikitsa Department of MGACH & RC, Salod (H), Wardha. They were randomly divided into case and control group. Each subject was exposed to case proforma. Case proforma was made in such a way that it included probable etiological factors related to Dyslipidemia. Observation And Results: Statistical analysis showed that Dyslipidemia was significantly related with unhealthy dietary habits, Dyslipidemia present in family, obesity, alcohol consumption, smoking, tobacco, tea and diabetes mellitus. Discussion & Conclusion: The findings showed that all risk factors are not contributing in pathogenesis of disease but they differ in each individual. It is not necessary that all the etiological factors are needed in the pathogenesis of Dyslipidemia but it can be cause due to presence of some of them.

Abstract:
The deflection for pre-stressing concrete thin-wall box girders bridges under action of multi-span loads exposed to fire was presented in this paper. Based on thermal and mechanics parameters, the fire and load model was designed, the space analysis procedure was performed to analyze the maximum deflection of each span during prophase and anaphase of extending-fire time, altogether 4 kind of load case. The studied results indicate: under condition of the whole span fire and load model of multi span, the mid-span deflection of the second span is down-warping during the fire prophase which its time is about 20 minutes, and up-warding or horizontal during the fire anaphase which its time is about 50 minutes; the deflection of the first and third span is down-warping with extending time during the whole fire time.

Abstract:
Background Small for gestational age (SGA) has been associatedwith adult cardiovascular disease. Small for gestational agenewborns may undergo early aortic wall intima-media thickening(aIMT) in utero. Objective To determine the relationship between SGA as a riskfactor for increased aIMT, as a sign of atherosclerosis onset. Methods We conducted a case-control study in the Neonatal Wardand Rooming-in Nursery at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital,Palembang, between April to June 2012. Subjects were allocatedto either the case group (aIMT 2: 0.9 mm) or to the controlgroup (aIMT <0.9 mm). Newborns were classified as SGA iftheir birthweight (BW) was < l O'h percentile, and appropriatefor gestational age (AGA) if their BW was between lQth - 90'hpercentile, according to the Lubchenco curve. Abdominal aorticintima-media thickness was measured by echocardiographyexamination. Results The case and control groups consisted of 30 n ewbornseach. The proportion of SGA newborns was higher in the casegroup than the control group. The likelihood of infants in the casegroup being SGA was significantly higher compared to the controlgroup, with odds ratio of 10.8 (95%CI 3,26 to 35, 72) . The meanaIMT was significantly higher in SGA than in AGA infants, 0.9(SD 0.16) mm vs. 0.8 (SD 0.13) mm, respectively, with a meandifference of 0, 13 (9 5% CI 0, 050 to 0,209 mm; P"" 0,02).Conclusion Increased aIMT is more likely found in SGA newborns.

Abstract:
Background: Cellulitis is the bacterial infection of dermis and the subcutaneous layer. Limb cellulitis is the most common and yet least studied form. This study aims at studying clinical profile, management and complications of limb cellulitis in inpatients at an Indian rural hospital. Methods: After taking institutional ethics committee approval, patients admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru medical college and Acharya Vinoba Bhave rural hospital, Wardha, Maharashtra, India with limb cellulitis during April 2007 to September 2009 were included. Their history, clinical examination and photographs were noted. They were treated conservatively or surgically depending on severity and followed up till complete recovery or 30 days after discharge whichever was earlier. Results: 130 patients i.e. 40 (30.77%) females and 90 (69.23%) males were included in this study with farming being commonest occupation. Commonest risk factor was bare foot working while least common was venous insufficiency. Right lower limb was frequently affected. Local swab cultures were sterile in 74 (56.92%) patients while E. coli grew predominantly in positive cultures and all blood cultures were negative. 84 (64.62%) patients were treated conservatively and only 46 (35.38%) required surgical intervention. 125 (96.15%) patients showed complete recovery while 5 (3.85%) patients succumbed to illness due to sepsis and multiorgan dysfunction syndrome. Conclusions: Limb cellulitis is a common disease to outpatient department and needs admission in patients with elevated risk factors. Most cases can be managed conservatively and seldom surgical intervention. Though majority can be cured completely, few with elevated risk succumb to the disease.

Abstract:
The author studies the phenomenon of prizonization distinguished on the basis of essential and stable properties of Soviet and post-Soviet culture. To consider the processes of prisonization the model of M. Foucault is still thought quite relevant. According to Foucault, criminal culture is marginalized, squeezed to the outer colony whenever possible. From the point of view of M. Foucault and the Chicago school of sociology studying segregation and zoning principles in the city, prison is a marginal space. It is forced out of official culture, and social prison practices are considered unacceptable "on the outside". Housekeeping of Siberian cities was organized in a different mode: not being able to reject the criminal culture, society went the way of its processing, connection with the official culture. The article analyzes a significant number of sources telling about the fusion of official and criminal culture in the Siberian text. "Notes from the Dead house" by F. M. Dostoevsky, "Prison Camp: Notes of the Warden" by S. D. Dovlatov, "Kolyma stories" by V. Shalamov, as well as the modern domestic chanson of "Siberian" origin, equally contain a reference to the transition of convict, criminal culture beyond the prison walls. At the level of methodology this study allows us to test the research tools of postcolonialism in Criminal Studies – a research direction that has not yet been fully determined even in Western humanitarianism. The proximity of official and criminal culture gave rise to a special discourse, which can be considered in the optics of hybrid culture H. Bhabha. The methodology developed within the boundaries of the postcolonial approach opens up opportunities for analyzing the current social and cultural situation in Siberian cities.

Abstract:
Two protocetid whale vertebrae, here referred to“Eocetus” wardii, have been recovered from the riverbed of the Pamunkey River in east-central Virginia. Neither bone was found in situ, but both were found with lumps of lithified matrix cemented to their surfaces. Most of this matrix was removed and processed for microfossils. Specimens of dinoflagellates were successfully recovered and this flora clearly demonstrates that both vertebrae came from the middle Eocene Piney Point Formation, which crops out above and below river level in the area where the bones were discovered. These vertebrae are the oldest whale remains reported from Virginia and are as old as any cetacean remains known from the western hemisphere.

Abstract:
This article examines national regulations relating to the recognition of names in official documents by focusing on Article 21 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, having particular regard to the judgment of the European Court of Justice in the case of Runevič-Vardyn and Wardyn. It also assesses the potential impact that this and other cases before the ecj and the European Court of Human Rights may exert on national minorities. The recognition of names is not regulated in European Union law; thus, the eu member states may freely determine the usage of names in official documents, as the state language represents a constitutional value and part of the national identity of many eu member states. Therefore, only regulation of names that causes excessive interference with the exercise of freedom of movement or respect for private and family life is unlawful under eu law. This issue will also be discussed in light of Article 4(2) of the Treaty on the European Union, by which the ecj assesses these types of interference with the eu’s duty to respect the national identities of its member states.

Abstract:
Background- Globally adolescent population is around 1200 million and out of six person, every one person is in adolescence (aged10 to 19 years) period (1). Yet most of them are healthy, but premature death, illness and injury among them can hinder ability to grow and develop to their full potential. It is estimated that 1.2 million adolescents died in 2015 and mostly from preventable or treatable causes. Tobacco consumption is world’s leading cause of preventable morbidity and mortality. National Family Health Survey conducted in year 2016-17 reported tobacco consumption prevalence 38.9% in urban area and 48% in rural area of India. Method-It was a community based cross-sectional study conducted in eight villages of Wardha district adopted under Community Health Care program run by department of community medicine. Data was collected by interview from 485 adolescent in the age group of 10-19 years by domiciliary visits using pre-designed pre-tested questionnaire from the period October 2016 to October 2018. Results: Prevalence of tobacco use (all forms), smokeless tobacco use and smoking in rural adolescents were 20.82%, 20.41%, and 2.68%, respectively. Prevalence of tobacco use in boys (30.29%) was more than girls (4.49%). Higher Prevalence was found in late adolescent period. Bidi was commonly used form of smoke tobacco while Kharra was the preferred smokeless tobacco. Almost all smokers were male but few exceptions were there. Conclusion: The prevalence of tobacco use among rural adolescents was very high (20.82%) as compared to national prevalence of 14.6% according to the global youth tobacco survey India 2009. There is a need of early intervention for tobacco cessation as overall mean age of 1st experienced to tobacco consumption was 12.02 years and in male and female users it was 12.25 years and 10.88 years respectively. 42.10 % adolescents 1st time experienced any type of tobacco products when they were in the 12-14 years age and only 0.66% adolescents experienced at the age of 17 -19 years. Maximum male (42.19%) and female (41.67%) ever user experienced their 1st tobacco consumption when they were 12-14 years old.
