Abstract:
To live as a minority in a mainstream culture is far for easy, especially for a group viewed with such novelty and queerness by the society, like the transgender. Nevertheless, the transgender seem to be holding steady in the face of a barrage of negative assumptions and discrimination. Much of those came from the interpretations of certain religious entities, and imposing upon them massive social, spiritual and psychological burdens. The impression from such discrimination is that the transgender are rejected both in this world and the hereafter. One such problem has to do with the shalat, where they stand on unclear grounds upon the position in the lines of prayer and the defining of the limits of their aurat. This article thus tries to prove that Islam serves and accommodates all entities not excluding those of the transgender.

This article describes word formation processes and a technique in understanding Waria Slang Tulungagung. This study was done through a survey to warias in Ngunut and Tulungagung surroundings, a small district in East Java- Indonesia, in order to get underlying basis of processes of word formation in waria or Bences variety which are influential toward their language style and their behavior. The instrument- interview &documentation were developed in accordance to get the word formation processes and slang words used by Waria. The study reveals that processes of word formation and technique understanding slang words used by Waria Tulungagung are divided into eleven processes i.e. Derivation, Multiple Process, Acronym, Borrowing, Blending, Reduplication, Synonym, Coinage, Irregular Form, Echoism, Changing of Syllable Vowel and the technique of understanding Waria sentences by removing some suffixes. Finally, the results of this study offers language phenomena arises because of some reasons which are mainly useful for those conducting communication among waria members smoothly, transgender identity and those who are concerned in investigating slang words used by waria or other varieties as well as suggestions for future research.

Abstract The lives of Indonesian waria (transgender women) are substantially shaped by spatial dynamics. As a result of social and spatial exclusion, subsequent migration and economic needs, a lifestyle pattern around daily work in beauty salons and street nightlife tied to transactional sex has evolved in many parts of urban Indonesia. Drawing on ethnographic research in the Indonesian regions of Java and West Papua, I demonstrate that despite tremendous spatial abjection, salons and street nightlife are also productive, transformative and conjoining spatialities that foster waria subjectivity in affective relations with their intimate partners, the community, the phantasmic promise of the transnational mediascape and Indonesia as a nation. The places that waria occupy may spark moral prejudice and targeted violence, but simultaneously they are sites of agency at which waria experience self-affirmation and a sense of belonging while embodying through gendered performance the envisioned mobility at both national and transnational scales. The paper thus foregrounds how spaces and subjectivities are mutually constitutive, forging one another, as well as how certain spatialities hold potential to disrupt the sense of marginality.

Abstract The article examines the role of Christianity in the work of Heikki Waris (1901-1989), Professor of Social Policy at the University of Helsinki from 1948 to 1968. In studies on the historical foundations of different models of welfare, Lutheranism is often mentioned as a characteristic feature of the Nordic model. Previous research has, however, not to any larger extent examined the role of religion when analysing the work of so-called welfare experts. The article draws attention to importance of Christianity and the Lutheran Church, when analysing the work of a central architect of the Finnish welfare state. The article examines how Waris’ background within the Settlement movement influenced his later academic and social political work. Furthermore, it looks at how Waris dealt with religion, Christianity, the Lutheran Church and faith in his work on social policy and social change. The connection between social policy and Christianity is analysed more closely, both in Waris’ academic texts and the reports he wrote for the Lutheran Church on the challenges of the modern world.

AbstractThe Use Transgender Slangs in Barabai City. This study aims to describe and explain theuse of transgender slangs in the city of Barabai as well as to the describe and explain thefrom of the word formations in the use of transgender slangs in the city of Barabai. Thisresearch uses descriptive qualitative research method with sociolinguistic approach. Thedata of this research is from the speeches of the transgender people, so the data source isthe transgender people. Data collection was done by observation technique, interviewtechnique, recording technique, and technique of renotetaking. The data then weretranscribed, classified, presented and concluded. The instrument of this research is a tablethat classifies data in accordance with the types of word forms, namely the forms of theword based and the word formations. The results of this study indicate that there are 201words of the transgender slangs used in 62 discourse fragments analyzed which arecreated from the transgender language itself or from the word formations which endingsconsist of 12 categories and the formations are from the English language. The meaningsof these words have various meanings depending on the conversations carried out bytransgender people, for example: one word has many meanings and it depends on thecontents of the conversations they have. From the 60 discourse conversations, there are270 uses of slang words in the form of affixation process,i.e. prefixes, infixes (insertion),suffixes or confixes (prefix and suffix) and reduplication process.Key words: slang, transvestite, wordAbstrakPenggunaan Bahasa Slang Waria di Kota Barabai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan penggunaan kosakata bahasa slang waria di kotaBarabai serta mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan wujud kata bentukan dalam penggunaanbahasa slang waria di kota Barabai. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian metodedeskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Data penelitian ini adalah darituturan para waria dan sumber datanya dari para waria. Pengumpulan data dilakukandengan cara teknik observasi, teknik wawancara, teknik rekaman, dan teknik catat. Dataitu lalu mentranskripsikan, mengklasifikasi, menyajikan serta menyimpulkan. Instrumenpenelitian ini berupa tabel yang mengklasifikasikan data sesuai dengan jenis wujud kata,yaitu wujud kata dasar dan kata bentukan. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwapenggunaan kosakata bahasa slang yang digunakan dari 62 penggalan wacana yang telahdianalisis terdapat 201 kosakata yang tercipta dari bahasa waria itu sendiri maupun daritata bentukan kata yang berakhiran yang terdiri dari 12 kategori dan tata bentukan daribahasa Inggris. Makna dari kata-kata tersebut mempunyai berbagai arti tergantung dari16percakapan yang dilakukan para waria, misalnya dari satu kata mempunyai banyak artidan itu tergantung pada isi pembicaraan atau percakapan yang mereka lakukan. This paper investigates how the drastic educational reforms during the Communist period changed the effects of family background on education in China, in comparison to other nations. Data are from the Life Histories and Social Change in Contemporary China survey and the World Inequality Study; N=130,109 in 28 societies. Since World Warii, the mean number of years of education in China paralleled, at a lower level, the rises in Eastern European Communist countries and in Western market economies. Multi-level regression analysis shows that China’s educational level is not higher than would be predicted on the basis of worldwide patterns linking education togdpand family background. Overall, the drastic educational reforms of the Communist period do not seem to have raised educational attainments, contrary to the Rousseau/Marx understanding of the primacy of private property as a generator of social inequality.

Tranvestites as one part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) can be categorized as a muted group. They get discrimination and rejection in their activities. When they wanted to pray they were rejected by society. There is a group of transvestites who took the initiative to establish a pesantren in Yogyakarta that allows transvestites to do their spiritual activities. This research wants to know the perception of village people to the transvestites group in Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to find out the perception of village people to the transvestites group in pesantren Yogyakarta. The theories used in this study are the theory of communication and culture, perception and factors of the forming perception, muted group, transvestites and Javanese Islamic culture. The study uses phenomenology methods and features a descriptive approach. Research data is obtained from depth interviews on nine interviewees, observations, document studies and literature studies. The conclusion of this research is the perception of village people to the transvestites group of pesantren tends to be negative perception. The women villagers felt disturbed because there were members of the transvestites group who joined the women section while praying in the mosque. And this made the village people uncomfortable with the existence of a group of transvestites in the villages. The village people believe a concept that in the world there are only men and women, while the concept of transvestites is still gray in society. Waria merupakan bagian dari Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) dan termasuk dalam kategori kelompok bungkam. Waria kerap mendapat diskriminasi dan penolakan dalam melakukan kegiatan termasuk ketika ingin beribadah. Namun, terdapat kelompok waria yang berinisiatif mendirikan pesantren yang menampung waria agar dapat menjalankan aktivitas spiritual seperti masyarakat pada umumnya. Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui persepsi masyarakat kampung di Yogyakarta terhadap kelompok waria yang beribadah di pesantren. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat kampung terhadap kelompok waria di pesantren. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori komunikasi dan budaya, persepsi dan faktor-faktor pembentuk persepsi, kelompok bungkam, waria dan budaya Islam Jawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dan dilengkapi pendekatan deskriptif. Data penelitian diperoleh dari wawancara terhadap sembilan narasumber, pengamatan, studi dokumen dan studi kepustakaan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah persepsi masyarakat kampung terhadap kelompok waria pesantren cenderung negatif. Warga kampung yang merupakan perempuan merasa risih dengan adanya waria yang bergabung di bagian perempuan saat beribadah di masjid. Kondisi ini membuat masyarakat kampung tidak nyaman dengan keberadaan kelompok waria di kampung tersebut. Masyarakat kampung mempercayai konsep yang bahwa di dunia hanya terdapat laki-laki dan perempuan, sedangkan konsep waria masih abu-abu di masyarakat luas.

It is inevitable that a legal enactment, or reform of Islamic family law in various Muslim countries or countries with a majority Muslim population in the world. This is because the existing law (valid) is still not revealed or has been revealed but is considered not in accordance with the era anymore, due to the different “context” between the past and the present. As Anderson said, Islamic law in Islamic countries was not static at all. The form of renewal that is carried out differs from country to country. First, there are some countries that carry out reforms in the form of laws. Second, there are some countries that carry out reforms based on the decree of the president or king. Third, there are some countries that carry out reforms in the form of judicial provisions. The country of Turkey is the first country to carry out renewal in family law. Updates are carried out in the form of laws. For Turkish Muslims, Hanafi is a school that underlies the religious life formally until 1926, before the existence of legislation legislation that was eclectically codified. The Islamic Civil Law or what is called ¬Majallat al-Ahkâm al-liAdliyah, which most of the material is based on Hanaf madîî actually has been prepared in Turkey since 1876, although it is not comprehensive, because it does not include family law and inheritance law. <p><em><span lang="EN">This research is an online media study about the phenomenon of ‘waria’ (transgender) people in Indonesia. Okezone.com reports about plans to make ‘Fiqh Waria.’ Fiqh is expected to be a reference for ‘waria’ to perform religious rituals in Islam. Islam has different laws between men and women. Research using Robert N. Entman's Framing Analysis. According to Entman, framing is a selection process that highlights aspects: problem identification, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and action recommendations. The results of the study mentioned that in identifying the problem, it was reported about the plan to make a special jurisprudence called ‘Fiqh Waria.’ In causal interpretation, making fiqh is needed so that they can perform worship after gender changes. In moral evaluation, transgenders are considered to have the same right to perform worship rituals. In the recommended action, it was reported that if the fiqh would become religious jurisprudence that humanizes humans.</span></em></p>

Abstract:
Euthanasia is a term used in medical science (medical), activities carried out to speed up the death of the patient who is considered unable to survive anymore. With the sophistication of the modern world now euthasia is considered a necessity, while euthanasia in Islamic law equates its law to murder. Murder is categorized in three forms, namely intentional murder, murder resembles intentional, and murder by mistakes. And euthanasia is divided into two, namely active euthanasia and passive euthanasia. In Islamic law active eythanasia is considered the same as intentional murder so that the perpetrator is subject to a qishash, diat punishment and for heirs or applicants of euthanasia no heir can be said (not receive inheritance from the victim of euthanasia), whereas passive euthanasia is permissible in Islamic law.

In the past, the relationship between the Orang Rimba and the outside world had to be through intermediaries or middleman commonly referred to as waris-jenang, appointed by the Jambi Sultanate. Eventually this function gradually changes. With the world increasingly open, and intermediary functions also decreasing, they can interact directly with outside communities. By using a theory practice approach by Bourdieu (1977), we can understand that Orang Rimba of Jambi cannot be seen as victims but more than that, they are active social agents to play a role with the capital they have. They play in the social arena that they understand and have experience in. Their relationship with various parties, including corporations, NGOs, and outside communities gives them symbolic power about how they play their identity as a group of indigenous people.

Despite these similarities, especially in the type and status of the estate but it also found differences in the using and distribution of the estate, class of heirs, as well as part of the child. Abstrak Dalam telaah sosio-antropologis, agama Islam yang dianut oleh masyarakat Jawa ternyata cukup berpengaruh dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan mereka. Bahkan dalam realitas, selalu ditemukan hubungan yang dialogis antara hukum Islam dan hukum adat Jawa. Dalam kaitannya dengan hal tersebut, artikel ini mencoba untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis persamaan dan perbedaan tentang aspek ontologi pembagian waris menurut hukum Islam dan hukum adat Jawa. Abstract: As a scholar who concerns in Islamic Law especially in Islamic inheritance law, David S. Power believes that Islamic inheritance was formed in the midle age era. According to him, Islamic inheritance law recently is very different from what Moslem has at the time of Prophet Muhammad, which is called by him as the beginning-Islamic inheritance law. This article tries to discuss the idea of David S Power about Islamic inheritance law. The first, form of the beginning-Islamic inheritance law consist of testamentair inheritance and ab intestato inheritance as the original form of command of al-Qur'an before these changes into ‘ilm al-fara’id according to David. The second, after he reconstructs by tracing the history from riwayat and by using linguistic to investigate, he finds that the meaning of kalalah that develops recently is diferent from the real meaning especially in reading and understanding the word yuritsu, imra’atan, and yus’i that mentioned in al-Qur'an in Surah an-Nisa, verse 12. This basically changed the meaning of kalalah. Abstrak: David S.Power sebagai sarjana Barat pengkaji hukum Islam, salah satunya hukum waris Islam, percaya bahwa hukum waris Islam yang dianggap mapan oleh masyarakat Muslim hingga saat ini adalah sesuatu yang baru terbentuk pada abad pertengahan. Hukum waris Islam saat ini jauh berbeda dengan hukum waris yang hidup pada masa Nabi Muhammad SAW, yang ia sebut dengan hukum waris purwa-Islam. Artikel ini mencoba membahas kontruksi gagasan David S.Power mengenai hukum waris Islam, yaitu: pertama, bentuk hukum waris purwa-Islam yang terdiri dari kewarisan testamentair (penunjukan ahli waris/berwasiat) dan kewarisan ab intestato (meninggal dalam keadaan tidak membuat surat wasiat) yang menurut David adalah bentuk asli dari perintah al-Qur’an, sebelum berubah menjadi ‘ilm al- fara>’id yang mapan. Abstract: The place of Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Muslims within Islamic normativity has become attention for scholars and activists, such as Kecia Ali and Scot Kugle, Nur Kholis who rethink the place of LGBT people in social, political, and religious lives. The paper discusses how Islamic liberation theology, as a global concept within the Muslim world, has inspired Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic University scholar-activists to hold discussions about the place of waria in Islam, at the Pesantren Waria Al-Fatah, Yogyakarta. However, as globalization leads to glocalization, the way the concept is understood and implemented differs from that global one. The study argues that global Islamic liberation theology influencing the activists in perceiving waria subject position has undergone “glocalization.” As Islamic liberation theology was used to fight against colonialism and capitalism, the scholar-activists now find in it the tools to fight against the oppression towards gender minorities, particularly waria. The study is based on interviews with several Nahdlatul Ulama activists, and participant observation in the Pesantren event.الملخص: أصبحت LGBT من المسلمين في الأعراف الإسلامية موضع اهتمام العلماء والناشطين مثل كيجيا علي وسكوت كوغل ونور خالص الذين قاموا بإعادة التفكير في مكانة فريق LGBT في الحياة الاجتماعية والسياسية والدينية. ناقش هذا المقال كيف أن لاهوت التحرير الإسلامي كمفهوم عالمي في العالم الإسلامي ألهم العلماء والناشطين في جامعة نهضة العلماء الإسلامية لعقد نقاش حول مكانة الخنثى في الإسلام في بسانترين "الفتح" للخنثي جوكجاكرتا. ولكن حين اتجهت العولمة إلى العولمة فإن طريقة المفهوم فهمت وطبّقت مختلفة عن ما يكون عالميا. رأت هذه الدراسة أن لاهوت التحررير الإسلامي العالمي الذي يؤثر الناشطين في فهم مكانة الخنثي وقع في العولمة، لأن لاهوت التحرير الإسلامي مستخدم لمحاربة الاستعمارية والرأسمالية. وجد العلماء والناشطون الآن وسائل لمحاربة الخنثي هي القمع تجاه الأقليات الجنسانية. اعتمدت هذه الدراسة على مقابلة بعض الناشطين من جمعية نهضة العلماء والملاحظة بالمشاركة في أنشطة بسانترين.Abstrak: Tempat Muslim Lesbian, gay, biseksual, dan transgender (LGBT) dalam normativitas Islam telah menjadi perhatian para cendekiawan dan aktivis, seperti Kecia Ali dan Scot Kugle, Nur Kholis yang memikirkan kembali tempat orang LGBT dalam bidang sosial, politik, dan kehidupan agama. Abstract Buton was a maritim sultanate in Southeast Sulawesi. It had a strategic location because it was a centre of transit and trade in Nusantara and Asia. This situation caused cultural contact and arose new Butonese culture. A kind of cultural product is literate tradition using such as Jawi script (Arabic-Malay) that appeared from interaction of local culture, the Butonese, with islam. In history of Buton many kitab was writen in Jawi script including Kitab Sarana Walio. Taking descriptive-qualitative method, the writer analyze Jawi script that was used in Sarana Walio text. This analyze was related with cultural context that underlied the appearance of this script. This research has found the system of writing with Jawi script in this manuscript. Based on ortographic system, Jawi script in Sarana Walio is not different from ortography of Arabic-Malay system in Nusantara. Graphem consist of consonant and vocal which is symbolized by huruf saksi, not punctuation. Meanwhile, there’s inconsistence in the case of word writing in manuscript. ---Abstrak Buton merupakan kesultanan maritim di Sulawesi Tenggara yang memiliki letak strategis karena menjadi pusat persinggahan dan perdagangan Nusantara dan Asia. Hal ini tentu saja menyebabkan terjadinya kontak budaya yang memunculkan bentuk-bentuk kebudayaan baru di masyarakat Buton. Salah satunya adalah tradisi tulis aksara Jawi (Arab-Melayu) yang lahir dari interaksi budaya lokal masyarakat Buton dengan Islam. Banyak kitab dalam sejarah Buton yang ditulis dalam aksara Jawi, di antaranya Kitab Sarana Walio. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-kualitatif, penulis mengkaji aksara Jawi dalam teks Sarana Walio, dihubungkan dengan konteks budaya yang melatari munculnya aksara tersebut. Penelitian telah menemukan adanya sistem penulisan aksara Jawi dalam naskah tersebut. Ditinjau dari ortografinya, aksara Jawi dalam Sarana Walio tidak berbeda dengan sistem ejaan Arab-Melayu pada umumnya di Nusantara. Grafem terdiri atas grafem konsonan dan grafem vokal yang dilambangkan dengan huruf saksi, tidak dengan tanda baca. Transgender issues, including those who have been called as ‘waria’, are diverse, complex, and evolving, particularly in Indonesia where the most inhabited people are Muslims commonly bringing with them any sexual and, sadly, religious stereotype to waria as marginal(ized) individuals. This paper aims to raise a question of our primordial understanding and religious experience on the existence of the transgender community. It focused on an empirical study of Kebaya (Keluarga Besar Komunitas Waria Yogyakarta), Yogyakarta’s Center for Transgendered, which is an NGO developed by transvestites in Yogyakarta to struggle against prejudice, acceptance, and HIV Aids. This study is not specifically to analyze their social relation, but importantly how the NGO became a shared space of interfaith dialogue and a representation of religios life among transgender people in Yogyakarta, including the ways they build socio-cultural-religious relation with other people and religious figures. It would be analyzed under socio-anthropological approach to religion by which this study reflect them as a part of the certain community who had special position in terms of interreligious dialogue. The implication of this study suggests that interfaith dialogue is possible, not only among the inner-circle of mainstream religious believers, but also among and from the edge community: from those who often feel ostracized within today’s trans-population in Indonesia.

Particular emphasis is placed on deportation on a national basis and the stay in a labor army by representatives of these families. The article introduces new factual material of private origin into science. Interviews and materials of family archives of informants expand the circle of knowledge about events in the mid-twentieth century, including ethnic deportations, and allow clarifying many facts of the “official” history.

In inheritance law of Islam, the Qur’an has idealized and specified clearly that sons inherit twice that of daughters. Instead of legal practice some communities in Indonesia that the sons received the same parts with the daughters. Even dividing when the heir is still alive because their lack of understanding of the text qath’i zhani. Qath’i al-dalalah Islamic inheritance texts about the distribution of 2: 1 between sons and daughters, according to the ulama not absolutely necessary, as the opinion of Munawir Sjadazali. Thus it was stated by Mashdar Farid Mas'udin, that the qath’i was only the principles of justice are conceived by the verses of the Islamic inheritance and not the provisions of section men who got twice that of women. But this kind of division has implications for the strength of law, if there is a dispute in the future then it is incapable to be accountable because distribution is outside of the provisions of the Qur'an and Law and also, this sort of thing would have implications for the impartial justice in Islamic inheritance law of the balance between the rights of the estate obtained by the obligations or burdens that must be borne or fulfilled among the heirs. Therefore, the sense of justice in Islamic inheritance law is not measured by the similarity degree between the heirs, but is determined based on the large-small burden or responsibility entrusted to them, in terms of generality state/human life.

The problems of protection, preservation, and repatriation of the cultural heritage looted by the Nazi before and during World WarII have received new treatment in the German society. It is pointed out that Germany has extensive experience of addressing the burdensome past, it has been established how the FRG solves the problem of its overcoming, its new facets and dimensions are revealed. The existing Lampung Indigenous Peoples Pepadun in Tigeneneng sub-district, Kab. Pesawaran, adheres to a patrilneal kinship system. This means that the oldest son is an absolute heir in the implementation and management of inheritance with the highest customary title, namely balancing. Whereas for the female heirs, they were not given the right of authority in management, because in the adat of Lampung Province the daughters were considered unable to manage inheritance and daughters when they were married, so they would change their customary titles and would follow their husbands. This type of research is a field using a qualitative approach by analyzing data inductively. The result of this research is that the system applied in the distribution of inheritance rights to the eldest child in the Lampung tribal community, is clearly very contrary to the principle of gender equality and justice. Juridically normative equality and gender justice have been regulated in Islamic Law and International Convention (CEDAW). Even though juridically, girls have the same rights as boys in managing inheritance left by both parents.

The legal system of inheritance in Indonesia is divided into three systems, namely western heirs legal system derived from burgerlijk wetboek (hereinafter referred to as "BW"), the legal system of inheritance of Islam derived from the Qur'an, hadith and ijma, and customary inheritance law. Burgerlijk Wetboek inheritance law governing the possible legacy of someone who would fall into the state and controlled by the state. In certain cases the state on an inheritance from the testator if the testator leaves no heir, and wills, so that the legacy of the heir to the legacy categorized as slipshod heritage (onbeheerde nalatenschap). In this case the Orphan’s Court takes its participation to act as the manager of the neglected. The method used in this research is the approach statute and case approach. The study is in the context of the legal approach doctrinal legal research, but did not rule on the legal interpretation methods can be primarily related to the issues to be investigated. Regulation of Orphan’s Court in Indonesia remains sectoral and still former colonial possessions, so that the necessary regulations concerning Orphan’s Court Law form containing tasks, functions, powers, rights and obligations of the institution.

A taxonomic re-evaluation of the Carcharhinus sealei-dussumieri group using meristic and morphological data revealedthat this group consists of 5 species. Two species, Carcharhinus coatesi (Whitley, 1939) from northern Australia and prob-ably New Guinea and C. tjutjot (Bleeker, 1852) from Indonesian to Taiwan, are resurrected as valid species and togetherwith C. dussumieri and C. sealei are redescribed. Garrick’s lectotype designation of C. dussumieri and C. tjutjot areretained. A neotype for C. sealei, collected from the same locality as the holotype which was destroyed during World WarII, is designated. A fifth, possibly undescribed species (Carcharhinus sp.) is also noted from the Western Indian Oceanand its affinities briefly discussed. The four redescribed species are very similarly morphologically but can be distin-guished by a combination of meristic, morphological, dental and colour characters. The most important characters for dis-tinguishing these species are: vertebral counts, tooth counts, tooth morphology, shape of first dorsal and pectoral fins,second dorsal fin colouration, and mouth width. Two independent molecular studies have produced results which closely correlate with and support the findings of this study.

Why is the Distinction between Suffix and Desinence Worth Preserving? (a reply to M. Stachowski’s paper The terms “suffix” and “desinence” among Polish grammatical terms)This paper is an answer to M. Stachowski’s article The terms “suffix” and “desinence” among Polish grammatical terms; it presents a different point of view. It points out that the terms mentioned in the title are not only used separately within the sub-disciplines of morphology, i.e. in research concerning inflection and word-formation, but also, due to their functions, make possible the distinction between lexicon and syntax, as well as the structuring of the lexicon. They also play a role in glottodidactics. An analysis of some derivatives, coupled with an interpretation of the terms extracted from linguistic compendia concerning Polish and French, shows that the distinction between a suffix and a desinence is both simple and useful. The attributes of a suffix are: 1) changing the meaning of the base; 2) absence of changes during inflection; 3) position before the ending (desinence). The second of the analysed terms does not possess these properties.

Research shows that many original scholarly works are to be found on the premises of boarding schools. The works of such devoted scholars as these are perhaps more evident today in the physical presence of madrassah, pesentran, mosques and so on, than they are in the field of writing. In fact, it is to these scholars that government and publishing houses should go for more specifically religious books. The work of these scholars would thus reach a larger public. Karya para ulama yang lebih menonjol saat ini hanya berbentuk karya fisik seperti bangunan madrasah, pesantren, masjid, dan sejenisnya. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah dan penerbit buku perlu merangsang mereka untuk menulis buku keagamaan. Tujuannya, agar karya tulis para ulama dapat dibaca masyarakat secara lebih luas. Consequentlyit is very important to expose maintenance, pre-conditions of origin, basic signs and possible consequences ofthis destructive process from event on east of Ukraine. Also study of this problem predefined by the necessityof fight and development of effective counterweapons, determination of ways of its avoidance to hybrid warin the future. Following the implementation of GWP (Global Water Partnership) in 1996 by UN the countries around the world began to implement the principles of IWRM to minimize water waste and maximize its beneficial use. The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative in Bangladesh also adapted the idea and created IWRM unit in 2003 through WARPO, CEGIC and IWM. Bangladesh is going through serious shortages of fresh water resources. Major reasons are: diversion of natural river flow in the upstream area; rapid siltation on river beds which have seriously reduced water holding capacity causing regular floods destroying crops, making people homeless and even loosing many lives, destroying economic progress; and change of climate pattern, seawater encroachment due to sea level rise destroying fresh water resources and cropping lands due to climate change impact and greenhouse gas emission. To overcome these issues the country must adapt the following steps: implementation of IWRM practices to its maximum capacity. IWRM will include surface water, groundwater, waste water and sewage water resources to design its maximum utilization. In addition WSUD techniques; urgent dredging of rivers; positive negotiation with the neighbors for surface water sharing and storing excess surface water during monsoon at series of reservoirs built in upstream locations and use them during dry season. The biggest task of Bangladesh IWRM is to educate all stake holders; establish proper coordination among all water management sectors and train up end users to transform them as guardian angels of water conservation.

Breast cancer is on the first place of malignant disease in women. By mortality it is4th most common and the incidence is constantly increasing in the world, in NorthMacedonia as well. Unfortunately, the exact number for cancer patients in NorthMacedonia is not known, but it is estimated that there are about 800 to 1 000 patientsper year. Stress is a serious risk factor and with most of the cancer patients in theanamnesis it is found that they were exposed to extreme stress. After the Bosnian warin the 90s, there was a sudden incidence of breast cancer. The rate of healing in theearly A1 stadium is from 98 to 100%. The problem in North Macedonia is that thescreening it’s not performed often, which causes the disease to be diagnosed in thelater stages. Most common is adenocarcinoma. In North Macedonia of all malignantneoplasms in women, breast cancer is first in mortality. Breast cancer mostly affectswomen aged 55 to 64 years at the level of the North Macedonia and the Easternregion. Compared to previous years, every year the number of breast cancer patientsis increasing, which means that the incidence of cancer is increasing. Work plansshould be directed to: health education of the population, education of women forproper and regular breast self-examination, education for regular screening for bothwomen and the general practitioners who should support and educate the populationon regular screening exams, as well as programs designed to support women who arebeing treated for breast cancer.Key words: breast cancer–oncology–analysis

Abstract. Sondondo is an inter-Andean valley located between 3,500 and 4,500 meters above sea level. Inhabited, transformed and modelled since ancient times by the local rural communities, an extraordinary cultural landscape has been created through their particular relationship with the environment. Since the pre-Hispanic settlements (Wari 600 AD), through colonial indigenous “reductions”, to the villages of vernacular architecture, which are at the foundation of contemporary populated centres, the territory has been variously and successively settled, inhabited and transformed. Its vernacular architecture has evolved at multiple scales, from domestic architecture to urban structures. It has created spaces for agriculture and livestock herding, and the spectacular agricultural andenerías (farming platforms and terraces) that have shaped the territory for centuries. The latter simultaneously developed irrigation infrastructures and techniques. The result is a landscape of great plastic effects, in a geographical setting bordered by the apus – tutelar mountains – traditionally “sacralized” by the Andean cultures. Such enormous architectural-landscape legacy is now threatened by imported global models of false modernity disrupting the fragile balance of lifestyles and territories. The objective of this research project, ongoing since 2016, is to assess this territory, catalogue its vernacular architecture and landscape units. It also aims to propose projects and initiatives for sustainable local development. The work has been made available to the Ministry of Culture of Peru to support its request before UNESCO to include the site in its World Heritage List.

Ethnographic and ethnohistoric accounts of the Andes are rich with descriptions of animated landscapes, substances and objects. It is widely held that these beliefs have deep roots in the pre-Columbian past, and archaeological literature on the Andes routinely draws upon these sources describing the religious importance of mountains, water, plants and animals. While this generalized sense of animism in prehistory is accepted, locating animism archaeologically presents more of a challenge, and like investigations into religion and ritual more broadly, often focuses on special object categories. Spectacular items of fine-quality, exotic materials, or restricted circulation are singled out as ‘special’ by archaeologists, while objects such as plain pots or tools are interpreted as mundanely functional. Further, animistic interpretations that lean heavily on ethnographic analogy run the risk of simply identifying traits in the past which match up with accounts from more recent times. Using materials from the Wari site of Conchopata in the central Andes of Peru, I take up the idea of animism as a ‘relational epistemology’ (Bird-David 1999). This view repositions animism as something that arises out of an ongoing engagement between humans and the world they inhabit rather than as a set of beliefs. This move begins to dissolve the categories of sacred and profane that are embedded in historical studies of religion. Recent shifts in archaeological approaches to ritual provide methodological frameworks for exploring how mundane objects may be transformed into sacred and further allow us to interrogate changes in practice and highlight variation in how animism was deployed in specific locales concurrent with larger social changes.

AbstractThe last several decades have seen both a renewed anthropological interest in the possibility of cross-cultural comparison and the rapid rise of the anthropology of Christianity. These two trends should be mutually supportive. One of the promises of the anthropology of Christianity from the outset has been that it will allow people to compare how processes of Christianization have unfolded in different parts of the world and to consider how the resulting Christian configurations are similar to and different from one another. But to this point, relatively little detailed comparative empirical work on Christianity has appeared. Our aim here is to contribute to remedying this situation. Drawing on recent theoretical work on comparison, we set comparative work on Christianity on a new footing. Empirically, we examine how processes of Evangelical Christianization have transformed notions of the self in one Amazonian society (Wari') and two unrelated societies in Melanesia (Bosavi and Urapmin). We define the self for comparative purposes as composed of ideas of the mind or inner self, the body, and relations between people. In our three cases, Christianization has radically transformed these ideas, emphasizing the inner self and downplaying the importance of the body and of social relations. While our empirical conclusions are not wholly unexpected, the extent to which the details of our three cases speak comparatively to one another, and the extent to which the broad processes of Christian transformation they involve are similar, are surprising and lay a promising foundation for future comparative work in the anthropology of Christianity.

W Archiwum Rodziny Ingardenów zachował się liczący ponad 400 stron pamiętnik Romana Witolda Ingardena. Ten osobisty dokument nie jest zupełnie nieznany w polskiej literaturze fachowej na temat życia i twórczości fenomenologa. Ingarden jako autor dzieła autobiograficznego nie był z pewnością wyjątkiem w swoich czasach. Na przełomie XIX i XX wieku wiele osób pisało pamiętniki i inne narracje życiowe. Warto wspomnieć, że osobiste dzienniki (później opublikowane lub pozostające do dziś w formie rękopiśmiennej) tworzyli Kazimierz Twardowski, Władysław Tatarkiewicz i inni polscy filozofowie. Ponadto niezwykle popularna była praktyka pisania listów, a także poezji noszącej znamiona autobiograficzne. Należy zaznaczyć, że tekst ten nie powstał pierwotnie jako dokument autobiograficzny filozofa, ale jako zapis życia niedoszłego artysty. Ingarden był poetą przez dużą część swojego życia i pisał wiersze również po drugiej wojnie światowej. Poet Confronted with Himself – Personal Journal of Roman Witold Ingarden The Ingarden family archive includes the diary of Roman Witold Ingarden, over 400 pages long. This personal document is not completely unknown in Polish specialist literature dealing with the life and work of the phenomenologist. As an author of an autobiographical work, Ingarden was certainly not an exception in his times. At the turn of the 19th and the 20th century, many people wrote diaries and other life narratives. It is worth noting that personal journals (some later published and some still available only in handwritten form) were written by Kazimierz Twardowski, Władysław Tatarkiewicz, and other Polish philosophers. It was also enormously popular to write letters and poetry bearing autobiographical traces. It should be noted that the text analysed in the article was not originally created as an autobiographical document of a philosopher, but as an account of the life of an aspiring artist. Ingarden was a poet for a large part of his life and continued to write poetry even after the Second World War.

Polish Literature After 1918 As the result of the Treaty of Versailles, Poland regains independence and Poles from the three partitions become full citizens of the Polish state. Such strong political changes had a significant influence on the culture of the reborn state. Polish culture of the 1920’s is not unified and homegeneous, which was demonstrated by literature. Various concepts of artistic activity and literary disputes appeared on its outskirts. A famous Skamander group, Cracow avantgarde, and the catastrophic philosophy represented by Witkacy are all worth mentioning. However, the element that connects these artists is that they wrote in the new political situation. Independent Poland and the changing world in which culture gains the status of a popular one, pose new challenges for the creators of culture. Culture’s task is to unite Poles. Na mocy Traktatu Wersalskiego Polska odzyskuje niepodległość i Polacy z trzech zaborów stają się pełnoprawnymi mieszkańcami państwa polskiego. Tak dalekie zmiany polityczne nie mogły pozostać obojętne dla kultury odrodzonego państwa, rozwijającej się pod zaborami w niesprzyjających dla niej warunkach, w ramach trzech różnych systemów polityczno-prawnych. Odzyskanie niepodległości przez naród polski zdjęło z twórców jego kultury obowiązek walki o wolność, pozwoliło im zrzucić z ramiom „płaszcz Konrada” i podejmować jako wiodącą – nową tematykę. Dzięki temu kultura polska lat dwudziestych ubiegłego wieku nie jest jednowymiarowa ani jednolita, czego najlepszym przykładem jest literatura. To w jej przestrzeni pojawiają się różne koncepcje działalności artystycznej i toczą spory literackie. Warto tutaj przywołać grupę pięciu poetów tworzących Skamander, krakowską awangardę, a także katastrofizm reprezentowany przez Witkacego. Jednak elementem, który łączy artystów pierwszej dekady dwudziestolecia międzywojennego jest tworzenie w nowej sytuacji politycznej. Niepodległa Polska ze zjednoczonym narodem - żyjącym ponad wiek w trzech różnych państwach zaborczych - oraz zmieniający się świat, w którym kultura zyskuje statut popularnej, stawiają nowe wyzwania przed twórcami. Jednym z ważniejszych jest zjednoczenie Polaków, w których zaborcy poprzez swoje działania próbowali wykorzenić pierwiastek polski.

This article is about how people moving along state borders – I call them wayfarers – refuse the assumption that they ought to live either a sedentary or a nomadic lifestyle inside or outside states, whether as citizens or as Others. In particular, it looks at how the term saudade helps mobile people to manage friction without falling back into such binaries. The Oxford English Dictionary defines saudade as a desire ‘for something’ and describes it as a characteristic of the ‘Portuguese or Brazilian’ people. Here, we shall attend however to the saudade evoked by Venezuelans and Warao (defined by the same dictionary as ‘members of a South American Indian people inhabiting Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela’). This article patterns a contrast between two ways of evoking the term in comments about movement made by my informants: the first, Precise Saudade, asks for precision about that of which people feel saudade. The second way of evoking the term, Vague Saudade, is, as its name suggests, more comfortable with being vague. The argument put forward by this article is that scholarly and policy texts on ‘migrants’, ‘nomads’ and ‘refugees’ need to make more room for Vague Saudade when translating the talk of wayfarers. It may be tempting to dismiss vagueness as showing ambiguity and imprecision. Yet, as the stories that follow are meant to highlight, Vague Saudade can be useful to wayfarers in several ways: to engage in care, to protect others, to protect themselves and to engage in conversations about alternative worlds. To grant monopoly to Precise Saudade, it is argued, risks hindering wayfarers’ ability to do these things. I find this is relevant to how we translate wayfarers, and I suggest it is also germane to how we translate in research.

Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, iż warto dokonać komparatystycznej inwentaryzacji zapleczy pojęciowoterminologicznych przekładoznawstwa i lingwistycznych badań nad tekstem. Punktem wyjścia takiej operacji winno być dążenie do konfrontacji stosowanych metajęzyków w ramach dyskursów naukowych obu obszarów badawczych pod kątem identyfikacji wspólnych kategorii pojęciowych i eliminacji sprzecznych z kluczowym w analizie tekstu założeniem oddzielania płaszczyzny formy od płaszczyzny treści założeń metodologicznych. Pozwoliłoby to na wypracowanie wartości dodanej w postaci wspólnej płaszczyzny komunikacji do wymiany doświadczeń badawczych, której istnienie wydaje się konieczne dla rozwoju obu dyscyplin. Wątkiem empirycznym w prezentowanych rozważaniach jest – stosownie do ich tytułu – wykazanie przy pomocy aparatu metodologicznego składni predykatowo-argumentowej amorficzności stosowanego w badaniach przekładoznawczych terminu „eksplicytacja” i propozycja doprecyzowania odpowiadającej mu kategorii pojęciowej. Explicitation: phenomenon → concept → term from the perspective of the methodology of propositional syntax. A linguistic contribution to the dispute over translation universals. Summary: The article aims to demonstrate that it is worthwhile to carry out a comparative analysis of the conceptual and terminological inventories of translatology and text linguistics. The inquiry should start by juxtaposing the metalanguages used in the research within these two areas of study, with a view to identifying conceptual categories common to both fields and eliminating those methodological assumptions which contradict the key assumption of text analysis, i.e. the separation of the plane of form from the plane of content. Through this it would be possible to achieve an added value by establishing a common ground for sharing research experiences, which appears to be the sine qua non for the development of both disciplines. The empirical strand of the article consists in demonstrating – with the help of the methodological apparatus of predicate-argument syntax – the amorphousness of the term ‘explicitation’ used in translation studies and in outlining a proposal for defining more precisely the conceptual category associated with the term. From individual to collective identity: the case of autobiographical accounts from the Ukrainian‑Russian and Ukrainian-Romanian borderlandsThe article presents the problem of cultural memory of Poles from two different regions of Ukraine, the south-east of the country and Carpathian Bukovina. It examines the following five main topic areas: the Second World War, life after the war (including the problem of the Russians), the issue of the Roman Catholic religion, the language question, and the problem of declaration of Polishness today. The accounts of the everyday life of Poles in the Ukrainian-Russian and Ukrainian-Romanian borderlands show important differences concerning their experience of war. In Bukovina, which used to be part of Romania, Poles display a much more consolidated sense of national identity. Despite the restrictions imposed by Soviet authorities, they gathered around the Roman Catholic Church as well as the institution of family, and taught the Polish language in private homes. This explains a continuity of their traditions, language, culture, and memory.On the other hand, throughout the Soviet period the Poles in Eastern Ukraine were cut off from contacts with Poland, the Roman Catholic Church and Polish organisations. Geographically dispersed and living in fear in their social environment, Polish families experienced a loss of their loved ones and faced severe punishment for declaring identity other than ‘Soviet’. Another factor at play was a relatively high rate of mixed marriages.The memory of contact with the Soviets is similar in both borderlands. The conduct of the new authorities was the same everywhere, and the examples quoted in the article represent a broader issue which would merit a separate study. Od tożsamości indywidualnej do tożsamości zbiorowej. Na przykładzie narracji z pogranicza ukraińsko-rosyjskiego i ukraińsko-rumuńskiegoW artykule przedstawiono problem tożsamości kulturowej Polaków z dwóch różnych obszarów Ukrainy: Ukrainy południowo-wschodniej oraz Bukowiny Karpackiej. Omówieniu podlega pięć kręgów tematycznych: II wojna światowa, życie po II wojnie światowej i problem Rosjan, kwestia religii katolickiej, zagadnienie języka oraz problem współczesnej deklaracji polskości. W narracjach na temat codzienności u Polaków na pograniczu ukraińsko-rosyjskim i ukraińsko-rumuńskim pojawiają się istotne różnice. Polegają one między innymi na tym, że w innej sytuacji znajdowali się podczas II wojny światowej Polacy w Doniecku, a w innej Polacy na Bukowinie, będącej częścią państwa rumuńskiego. Ponadto stopień poczucia tożsamości narodowej u Polaków na Bukowinie jest znacznie wyższy. Pomimo zakazów ze strony władz sowieckich, Polacy skupiali się wokół Kościoła i rodziny, w domach prywatnych uczono języka polskiego. Na Bukowinie istnieje zatem ciągłość tradycji, języka, kultury i pamięci.Polacy na Ukrainie Wschodniej przeżyli okres władzy sowieckiej w oddaleniu od Polski, od Kościoła katolickiego i od polskich organizacji. Żyli w dużym rozproszeniu, obawiając się społeczności, wśród której mieszkali. Rodziny przeżywały utratę bliskich, za przyznawanie się do narodowości innej niż „sowiecka” groziły srogie kary dla całej rodziny. Wchodzili też w związki małżeńskie z osobami niepolskiego pochodzenia.Pamięć o styczności z władzą sowiecką jest podobna na obu pograniczach, a przytoczone przykłady stanowią szerszy problem, któremu warto by poświęcić osobne opracowanie.

Abstrak Evolusi konsep fiqh yang masih sering dipermasalahkan adalah tentang “fiqh perempuan”. Selama ini, product fiqh dianggap diskriminatif, tidak menghargai hak-hak perempuan bahkan terkesan melecehkan perempuan, ayat-ayat tentang waris, kesaksian dan wali banyak disinyalir hanya mengunggulkan kaum laki-laki. Dari segala lini kehidupan, proses metamorfosis fiqh mulai terasa, terlebih di abad modern sekarang ini. Dengan pesatnya ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi maka isu-isu persamaan hak, kebebasan, keadilan gender dan lain-lain terus menggejala di berbagai belahan dunia. Pemikiran Khaled Abou el Fadl telah melihat mekanisme perumusan dan pengambilan keputusan fatwa-fatwa yang dikeluarkan baik oleh pribadi-pribadi, tokoh-tokoh masyarakat dan lebih-lebih lembaga-lembagaa dan organisasi keagamaan pada umumnya. Salah satu kritik Khaled Abou el Fadl tentang fiqh perempuan adalah kritik dari fatwa yang dikeluarkan oleh CRLO yang cenderung mendiskriminasikan perempuan dalam berbagai aktivitas kehidupannya. Dalam konteks tersebut, pada dasarnya hal yang terpenting untuk dipahami dalam hermeneutik adalah bagaimana sesungguhnya hubungang teks (text) atau nash, penulis atau pengarang (author) dan pembaca (reader) dalam dinamika pergumulan pemikiran hukum Islam. Dengan demikian hal yang diperlukan adalah fiqh yang humanis dan tidak diskriminatif terhadap perempuan.Kata kunci: Hermeneutika, fiqh, perempuan AbstractThe evolution of fiqh concept which still questionable is about “women fiqh”. During this time, fiqh product is considered discriminative, not respect to the women rights and even impressed harassed the women, verses about inheritance, testimony and trustee many allegedly only favor the men. By from all life aspects, the process of fiqh metamorphosis begin to feel, especially in modern century. By the rapid development of science and technology, issues of equality, freedom, justice, gender and etc keeps implicated in various parts of the world. Khaled Abou el Fadl’s thought has seen the formulation mechanism and decision making of the (fatwa2) issued by personal, public figures, and even religius foundation and institutions in general. One of Khaled Abou el Fadls critics about the women fiqh is a critic from (fatwa) issued by CRLO that tend to discriminate the women in their various life activities. In that context, basically the most important thing to understand in hermeneutics is how the written text (text) or script, the writer or authors and the readers in dynamics of the struggle of Islamic legal thought.
