Abstract:
In order to recognise the noise source of a warp knitting machine, a method based on Modified Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (MEEMD) and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) is proposed. The MEEMD_AIC method is applied to measure the noise signal of a warp knitting machine and analyse every single effective component selected. Noise source identification is realised by combining the vibration signal characteristics of the main parts of the warp knitting machine. Firstly, MEEMD is used to decompose the measured noise signal of the warp knitting machine into a finite number of intrinsic mode function (IMF) components. Then, singular value decomposition (SVD) is performed on the covariance matrix of the component matrix to get the eigen value of the matrix. Next, the number of effective components is estimated based on the AIC criterion, and the effective components are selected by combining the energy characteristic index and the Pearson correlation coefficient method. The results show that the noise signal of the warp knitting machine is a mixture of multiple noise source signals. The main noise sources of the warp knitting machine, including the vibration of the pulling roller, the main shaft of the loop forming mechanism and the push rod of the guide bar traverse the mechanism, provide theoretical support for recognition of the active noise reduction of the warp knitting machine using the MEEMD_AIC method.

Abstract:
AbstractThe most advantageous geometry of the warp feeding system was determined from the viewpoint of compensating temporary changes in the warp length during the technological cycle of a four-comb warp-knitting machine. Dynamic simulations of the feeding system were carried out for 3 different lengths of the shift of the slider with a guide bar – designating variants (series) of the cross-sectional sizes of the 3D knitted fabrics. The courses of instantaneous warp tensions during the operating cycle of the warp-knitting machine were presented. Limit dynamic loads of the warp were determined and presented as a function of natural frequency of the whip roller. Based on the criterion of the smallest dynamic loads of the warp, the optimum natural frequencies of the whip roller were determined. In the analyzed range of the whip roller parameters, they are 3–6 times greater than the operation frequency of the warp-knitting machine.

Abstract:
To date, the trend in the development of knitting promotes higher requirements for warp tension control, and the fluctuation of knitting warp finally comes down to the imbalance between yarn demand and feed while forming every loop. According to warp knitting machine characteristics, four typical points are chosen to calculate the value of yarn demand, and in this way a model is built to obtain and plot the overall change trend in yarn demand in one knitting cycle. Combined with the theoretical tension curve calculated based on the yarn demand and the measured one, it is verified as coincident. The model is useful for analyzing the factors causing warp dynamic tension variation, and lays the groundwork for accurate active tension compensation.

Abstract:
Purpose The obtained simulation structures could reflect the appearances and the features of the fabrics. The purpose of this paper is to promote a lot for design and manufacturing of weft-knitted lace fabrics (WKLF). Design/methodology/approach The advantages of WKLF compared with warp-knitted ones were displayed. The formation mechanism of the WKLF was analyzed with employing the mechanics principles. Spring-mass model was proposed in this paper to achieve the simulation of the fabrics. End mass points and intermediate mass points were involved in the model. The displacement of end mass points was considered the dominance and the foundation to settle the positions of all the mass points. Findings A novel jacquard lace style fabric with pattern-background effect knitted on circular knitting machine were put forward, which were different from the traditional lace fabrics manufactured on the warp knitting machines. Originality/value First, as the manufacturing equipment, circular knitting machine costs much less than warp knitting machine; second, the elastic performance along weft direction of WKLF is more excellent than that of warp-knitted ones. Third, the excellent extensibility gives nice comfort; furthermore, long floating threads do not exist on the WKLF surface, so that the snag will be avoided.

Abstract:
Abstract Investigations (calculations) based on a warp yarn tension analysis on a warp knitting machine with multiaxial weft yarn insertion allow prospective reduced yarn tension differences in technical warp knits. From this a future opportunity is provided to substitute the subjective warp let-off adjustment by a model of tension control. The outcome of this is a higher reproducibility with associated increasing process reliability and rising product quality.

Abstract:
Warp knitted fabrics possess a number of changes in the structures, so they do have great advantages on the property design of composites. The three kinds of weft insertion warp knitted fabrics are knitted on a Raschel latch needle warp knitting machine with glass continuous-filament yarns. The warp knitted fabric/ unsaturated polyester resin composite laminates are produced by manual molding technology. The tensile properties of composites in the course, wale and diagonal directions are tested on the universal material testing machine. The results show that the tensile stress/strain curves of the composites were nonlinear. The tensile properties of the composites possess obvious anisotropic characteristics. The tensile strengths and elastic modulus of the warp knitting composites depend on the needle space number of inlaid yarn, fabric density and structure.

Abstract:
Development and research of functionally-adequate target mechanisms of technological machines of light industry with application of applied CAE-programs. Used the apparatus of vector algebra; analytical and numerical methods for determining the position functions of planar mechanisms containing a structural group of the fourth class of the second order, based on the vector transformation of coordinates; random search method for metric synthesis of flat mechanisms; methods of computer visualization and animation of kinematic schemes of flat mechanisms of higher classes. Mathematical models describing the position functions of the mechanism of eyelets of a warp knitting machine containing a structural group of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs in the form of angles of moving links, free vectors constructed on these links and radius vectors of characteristic points of the mechanism as a function of the angle of rotation of the master crank. The geometrical parameters of the flat six-link mechanism of eyelets for the warp knitting machine containing the structural group of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs as a result of metric synthesis of the mechanism by random search in CAE-program are determined; computer circuit modeling of the obtained mechanism is performed; graphs of visualization and animation of the kinematic scheme of the received mechanism are constructed; identification of the kinematic scheme of the obtained mechanism for compliance with the accepted structure; the received graph of function of position of an auricular needle of the mechanism of the fourth class; the functions of the position of the eye needle of the new mechanism and the mechanism of the basic knitting machine OV-7 are compared. The structure of a flat six-link mechanism, containing structural groups of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs, is proposed for use as a drive in a warp knitting machine on the example of the mechanism of oscillating movement of eyelets. The geometric dimensions of the moving parts of the functionally adequate mechanism of the fourth class for the drive of the eye needles of the basic knitting machine are determined. Software blocks for automated computer metric synthesis and calculation of link angles and radius vectors of characteristic points of the mechanism in the CAE program have been created. Practical Value is to use the results for the design and construction of flat mechanisms of the fourth class with rotating kinematic pairs of warp knitting machines, in which the working bodies make stops during the work process.

Abstract:
The warp knitting machine market has long been dominated by large-scale flat models, which have been steadily developed. Tubular fabrics are generally made in a special version of flat warp knitting machines containing two needle bars, one for each side of the tube, joined on the sides by yarns knitting alternatively on each bar. Warp knitting technology has failed to enter the circular knitting industry, dominated by weft knitting, due to its complexity in achieving warp knit structures in circular form. This thesis presents the design, synthesis, manufacture and test of an innovative method of producing tubular warp knitting fabrics, using a circular format rather than flat needle bars. This novel concept opens up many industrial applications from medical textiles to fruit packaging.
