Abstract:
Background: Asthma is an abnormality in the form of chronic airway inflammation which can be reduced by providing asthma-induced gymnastics and healthy lifestyle such as consuming alkaline water.Aims: The objective of this study is to examine a combination of alkaline water provision and asthma-induced gymnastics towards peak expiratory flow rate of asthma patients at Surakarta Lung Clinic, IndonesiaMethods: This research was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test design with control group. The number of respondents in this study was 30 respondents, divided equally into intervention group and control group. The control group was given asthma-induced gymnastics twice a week for 14 days with duration of 60 minutes, while the intervention group was provided with a combination of alkaline water pH9+ for 14 days as much as 1,200 ml/day and asthma-induced gymnastics 4 times a week for 14 days with a duration of 60 minutes. Results: There was a significant difference in the value of peak expiratory flow for 14 days in the intervention group and the control group (p < 0.001). There was an improvement in the average of peak expiratory flow rate values for each measurement in both groups, however, this study orchestrates that the intervention group has a higher improvement than the control group. The combination of alkaline water and asthma-induced gymnastics effectively and significantly improves the peak expiratory flow rate values at the Day 8 (p = 0.039) and the Day 14 (p = 0.012).Conclusion: The combination of alkaline water and asthma-induced gymnastics can be applied in nursing care management in patients with intermittent and persistent asthma. Abstract:
99 adult specialists in combat sports ( n = 21), team sports ( n = 37), gymnastics ( n = 22), and swimming ( n = 19) ( M age = 20 yr., SD = 2; 64 young men, 35 young women) performed three 25-m swimming tasks whilst “blindfolded” by opaque goggles: front crawl in a straight line, dolphin-kicking on the back, and dolphin-kicking on the front. Even though the gymnasts (like the swimmers) were at ease in all 3 situations, the motor skills of the “motor interaction” specialists (team sports, combat sports) put the latter at a disadvantage. The similarities between the gymnasts' and swimmers' behavior (confirmed using factorial correspondence analysis with the TRI-DEUX program) are undoubtedly related to the fact that these sportspersons essentially live in the same sensory space in their respective practices: exteroceptive information is subordinated by proprioceptive information. In contrast, the 99 subjects' timed freestyle swimming performances over 75 m depended so much on their physical and anthropometric qualities that the results were independent of the sporting specialties for the novice swimmers. Hence, the mere fact that the 22 gymnasts, who tended to be shorter, with a higher proportion of women, were more at ease in the water did not turn them into great performers.

Abstract:

Leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) is an important factor in promoting and maintaining adequate health status and quality of life in old age. Here we aimed to identify the prevalence and factors associated with different modalities of LTPA among 3,478 older adults (mean age: 72.96 ± 6.01 years; 67.7% female) from seven cities of different regions of Germany. We compared categorical variables (gender, age and family income) between groups using the Chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test. Walking was the most commonly reported activity undertaken by participants (43.4%). Men reported performing a larger number of LTPA modalities than women. Outdoor gymnastics and water gymnastics were the most commonly cited LTPA by women. Younger age and higher income correlated with higher levels of physical activity. Our findings indicate that a physically active behavior is closely related to the living conditions, social roles and physical health of this population. Thus, public policies encouraging LTPA among older adults should take their gender, age and social status, as well as the type of activities to be offered, into consideration.

Abstract:
Abstract In recent decades, women have begun to take up types of physical activity traditionally considered masculine. They appeared in previously one-gender team sports such as football or water polo, and nowadays they are also involved in ice hockey, canoeing, and are active in numerous combat sports as well. On the other hand, men have entered sport fields previously only available to women, such as rhythmic gymnastics. By this, sport can be regarded not only as a scene of gender stereotyping, but also a scene of redefining the concepts of masculinity-femininity in the negotiating of gender relations. Owing to these phenomena, there has been an emergence of studies analyzing sports from a gender aspect as well as the generalizations related to athletes involved in these sports. These studies have primarily focused on the constructions of gender identities and gender roles of women participating in traditionally masculine sports (football, weightlifting, and bodybuilding). This paper presents the results of empirical research designed to explore the opinions of top athletes involved in sports considered to be the most masculine and most feminine by the public and by sport experts: rhythmic gymnastics and boxing. They discussed their own sport and each other’s sport. With the information obtained from the structured interviews (n=22), it became possible to compare their social background, sport socialization and sport selection, as well as their conceptions of gender roles, femininity, and masculinity. As a conclusion of the research, it can be stated that from the aspects examined differences could mostly be observed in the circumstances of sport selection, but representatives of the two sports also diverged remarkably in their judgments about each other’s sport. While female boxers did not voice extreme opinions about rhythmic gymnastics, representatives of the sport regarded to be the most feminine reflected on boxing in a stereotypical and prejudiced way, even given their lack of experience.

Abstract:
The physical rehabilitation program was developed based on the previous clinical and instrumental screening of functional disorders of the hip joints, formed as a result of dysplasia in preschool children. This program included preventive and rehabilitation blocks. The first block was used during the year and included: morning hygienic gymnastics, exercise minutes and pauses, awakening gymnastics, self-massage, hardening procedures (water procedures, walking barefoot, air and sun baths), psycho-emotional unloading. The second block included therapeutic gymnastics (fitballs, roles Zelart Grid elastic band Thera-band, balancing platform (hemisphere) BOSU, balance discs, traverse walls Traverse, step platforms), hydrokinesiotherapy, moving games, therapeutic massage (local, general, hydromassage), physiotherapy, orthopedic facilities. The developed program provides for the implementation of a comprehensive approach to restoring the physical and functional state of the preschool ORA through the use of game, simulation, traction, relaxation, stretching, special power, breathing, corrective and various coordination exercises. There are a lot of features and benefits of the proposed program, such as many different types of physical exercises for the development of motor skills and motor training, conducting physical exercises in an imitation way, strict dosing and exercise control, purposefully load weakened muscle groups, which depend on the correction of physiological curves of the spine and other segments of the torso and limbs, to diversify each exercise and give it a playful color, stimulate the cardiorespiratory system, using static and dynamic breathing exercises in combination with swinging movements, increase the elasticity and flexibility of the joints of the spine and limbs, through traction exercises and exercises with full range of motion, to form a stereotype of the correct posture, actively using the positive psycho-emotional state of the child, to harmonize the state of the nervous system (processes of excitation and inhibition) due to the alternation of emotional game exercises, strength exercises with overcoming resistance and relaxation exercises, to motivate children to actively and systematically perform special physical exercises.

Abstract:
Abstract Purpose To assess reliability and clinical utility of evaluating stress-related metaphyseal water distribution using a semi-quantitative Dixon MRI-based method for early diagnosis of physeal stress injuries in adolescent gymnasts. Methods Twenty-four gymnasts with clinically suspected overuse injury of the distal radial physis, 18 asymptomatic gymnasts, and 24 non-gymnast controls aged 12 ± 1.5 years prospectively underwent hand radiographs and 3T MRI of the wrist including coronal T1-weighted and T2-weighted Dixon sequences. Two raters measured metaphyseal water signal fraction in 13 radial and ulnar regions of interest (ROI). Inter- and intrarater reliability, interslice (between 3 middle radial slices), and inter-ROI (between 3 ROIs on same level) reliability were assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Water signal fractions and their within-person ratios in distal versus most proximal ROIs were compared between groups using one-way analysis of variance. Results Inter- and intrarater ICCs were 0.79–0.99 and 0.94–1.0 for T1-weighted, and 0.88–1.0 and 0.88–1.0 for T2-weighted Dixon. Interslice and inter-ROI ICCs were 0.55–0.94 and 0.95–0.97 for T1-weighted, and 0.70–0.96 and 0.96–0.97 for T2-weighted Dixon. Metaphyseal water signal fraction in symptomatic gymnasts was higher in six distal ROIs compared with asymptomatic gymnasts and in nine ROIs compared with non-gymnasts (p < 0.05). Metaphyseal water score (ratio of distal versus most proximal ROIs) was 1.61 in symptomatic gymnasts and 1.35 in asymptomatic gymnasts on T2-weighted Dixon (p < 0.05). Conclusion Semi-quantitative Dixon MRI-based water signal fraction assessment has good to excellent reproducibility and shows increased metaphyseal water scores in symptomatic gymnasts compared with asymptomatic gymnastic peers. Key Points • The proposed Dixon MRI-based semi-quantitative method for assessment of metaphyseal bone marrow water content is reliable, with off-the-shelf availability and short scan times. • The metaphyseal water score allows comparisons between gymnasts using a within-person reference area for unaffected metaphyseal bone. • As metaphyseal water score was increased in symptomatic gymnasts compared with asymptomatic gymnasts, this semi-quantitative method can potentially be used as an indicator of bone marrow edema in the early diagnosis of gymnastic physeal stress injury.

Abstract:
Methods of physical medicine, many of which have been empirically applied since the ancient times, have become particularly popular in 19th century Europe. The first examples of the works of Serbian doctors in this area originate from the same period. In 1838 and 1839, Dr. Konstantin Peicic wrote about Prissnitz?s method of hydrotherapy. In 1842, Dr. Dimitrije Radulovic published in Latin his doctoral dissertation concerning medical gymnastics. In the middle of the 19th century, in the Principality of Serbia, hydrotherapy treatments (by Dr. Andrija Ivanovic, 1850) and electrotherapy (by Dr. Jovan Valenta, 1857) w?re applied. Among the pioneers of physical medicine in Serbia, Dr Avram Farkic is a very important figure. In 1896, Farkic founded the first Serbian institute for physiotherapy in Belgrade, and, two years later, the First Institute for Orthopedics, Swedish Gymnastics and Massage. These institutions were merged in 1899. After the death of Dr. Farkic in 1925, the Institute worked under his name until the German bombing of Belgrade on April 6, 1941. The diversity and continuous introduction of modern therapeutic procedures were the main characteristics of the Institute during its 45-year-long existence. Dr. Farkic was also the initiator of the establishment of the Therapy Joint Stock Company, which founded the first institute for physical medicine in Vrnjacka Banja, the Therapy Institute for Treatment by Water and Electricity, in 1911. Until the First World War, it was the most modern spa sanatorium in Serbia. During spa seasons of 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1924, Dr. Farkic himself was the manager and the main physician of the Therapy Institute.

Abstract:
Introduction: This research paper is aimed at identifying the possible effects that the implementation of the combined kinesiological programs of swimming and hydro-kinesiological therapy may have on thebody posture in preschool children. Methods: The survey was conducted on a sample of 50 boys selected from a number of Sarajevo kindergartens, in the age group of 5.2±0.6 yrs.; mean height=114±7 cm; mean weight= 21.8±4.7 kg. In order to evaluate the postural status, we used a reduced Napoleon Wolanski method. The activities were carried out within the period of 16 weeks, twice a week for 60 minutes. Results: The analysis of the initial and fi nal series of testing with t-test indicates a high level of statistical signifi cance in the variables of shoulder posture assessment, shoulder blade posture assessment, spinalcord posture assessment, leg posture assessment, feet posture assessment, overall body posture assessment according to Wolanski, whereas somewhat lower level of statistical signifi cance was found in thevariables of abdominal posture assessment and chest posture assessment. A relatively low level of statistical significance is observed only in the variable of head posture assessment. Conclusion: It can be concluded that a combined program of corrective gymnastics with games and exercises in water had signifi cant effects on improving the muscle tone in the respondents, which in turn had a direct impact on improving their body posture, both in terms of all of the individually surveyed body parts and in overall terms.

The modern problems solution, impairment population’s health, through involvement of its wide miles in active leisure and improvement is closely connected both with development of improving recreation. This is due to the expansion of the content of health and recreational activities, rethinking the role of its individual types and areas of health fitness programs. The article considers the increasing role of aquatic types of physical culture and sports and the role of aqua aerobics, as one of the types of recreational and health technologies, and their impact on the female body. Aqua aerobics it is a complex of physical exercises in water with elements of swimming, gymnastics, stretching and strength exercises. Aqua aerobics has a healing effect on the whole body. It promotes good posture, removes tension in osteochondrosis, has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, normalizes blood pressure, strengthens the skeleton total muscles, increases the body's defenses, removes stress, nervous excitability, improves psycho-emotional state, burns calories well which leads to weight loss. Aqua aerobics improves strength, endurance, flexibility and agility, as well as improve the functional state of the body. Water training gives a feeling of lightness and muscle relaxation. Water is a wonderful natural masseur. Exercises in water improve the condition of the skin and blood circulation. It is recommended to do different types of aqua fitness in swimming pools under the guidance of a trainer-instructor. Only in this case, exercise will be most beneficial to health.

Abstract:
The Role of Pilates and Aquafitness Exercises in Sustaining the Health and Fitness of Elderly WomenBackground: The aim of this study was an evaluation of the effectiveness of two forms of physical activity: Pilates and aquafitness - gymnastics in water, in sustaining the health and fitness of women after the age of 55.Material and methods: In research groups were twenty five volunteer women - participants of physical training of the age from 55 to 76 years. One of the groups (Group 1) conducted exercise according to the Pilates method, and the second group (Group 2) practiced in water - aquafitness. The exercises took place once a week, 1.5 hours each. The research ("up and go" test, test for strength and endurance of lower limbs, test for strength of upper limbs, test for suppleness of the lower body part) has been conducted twice - in the first four weeks of training and after ten weeks. Results: The strength of upper limbs considerably increased (p=0.038) in the case of women practicing in water. The program of aquafitness contains a lot of resistance exercises for the upper limbs, which had impact on the above mentioned result. Improvement in the results of tests of suppleness of lower body part was observed (after an 10-week cycle of exercises) in Pilates groups. Conclusions: Pilates and aquafitness were beneficial for the level of suppleness of seniors. The frequency of exercises - once a week - is insufficient for sustaining full fitness, however, even such minimal doze of physical activity positively affects the physical and mental condition of the seniors.

Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of different methods of physical therapy including hydrokinesitherapy and therapeutic gymnastics with the use of exercises on an unstable support (stabiloplatform) was made for a group of 72 patients suffering from pain in the spine of vertebrogenic genesis who had repeatedly received standard medical therapy, physiotherapy (magnetotherapy, laser therapy), and massage therapy before the onset of the study. The effectiveness of therapy was assessed based on the VAS scale, using the Schober’s test, Tomaier test, and Ott test as well as the summary index of health status. The pain intensity estimated based on the VAS scale was significantly reduced in all the patients after the completion of the treatment. Especially good results were obtained for the group of men making exercises on the stabiloplatform and in the group of women given hydrokinesitherapy in the water pool. The results of the present study of the psychoemotional state, vertebroneurological status, and spinal pain intensity in the patients presenting with dorsopathies lead to the conclusion that men and women respond differently to the rehabilitative treatment with the use of the static and dynamic methods of physical therapy.

Abstract:
Human social life connected with the growth of the city itself, day now people in common are individualist so the idea of third place come up by sociologist Ray Oldenberg. According to Ray Oldenberg place divide into three, first place is a home, second place – workplace, and third place the place where you can relaxing, hangout, and socialize with the other. Third place have an important role to strengthen social relation, but third place day now is more focus on commercial activities, for example mall, café (Starbuck), bar or restaurant (Mcd) with the target market is upper middle class people so it create sense of ‘unwilling’ to lower middle class people to come to the same place. This problem could cause social gap and third place no longer open for everyone (neutral). To answer this problem, writer designing SPA & Wellness Facility at Kalideres as third place for people in Kalideres region. This facility provide relaxation facility that can be enjoyed for free nor paid. The free facility consist of park, gymnastics area and shallow water pool for relaxation, this free facility is intended so the lower middle class people at Kalideres can enjoyed the third place facility.

Abstract:
Results of early restoration of the ability to independent movement after amputation of the lower extremities as possibilities of prevention of development of the complications connected with a hypodynamia for reduction of terms of medical rehabilitation and restoration of quality of life are presented. Preparation for prosthetics was carried out with the application of modern methods of medical physical culture according to four motor activity levels. For prevention of development of contractures of joints, decrease in the puffiness of tissues of a stump will be applied techniques of medical physical culture, orthopedic laying, elastic bandaging of a stump of a shin and hip, carrying compression elastic and polymeric (silicone) covers. For improvement of lympho-venous outflow, reduction of puffiness of soft fabrics and of a phantom pain syndrome elastic glue bandaging (a therapeutic adhesive tapes) of a stump is shown. Non-drug treatment of phantom pain syndrome is especially relevant at contraindications, intolerance the patient of medicines. Among non-drug techniques of simplification of a phantom pain, syndrome use various techniques of reflexotherapy (acupuncture, an akupressura, etc.), to an empatotekhnik, a mirror therapy, phantom-impulsive gymnastics. Holding sessions of a mirror-therapy was followed with phantom-impulsive gymnastics by the standard technique. For prevention of formation of a flexion contracture of a knee joint after below-knee amputation used universal adjustable elastic orthosis for the knee made of polyurethane foam in the form of the rolled design with the fixing tapes is offered. Besides of, the technique of training moving by artificial limb helps the truncated extremity with the regulated reception sleeve or the made reception sleeve which is put on a stump from the water hardened plastic bandage is improved. The value of the offered technique consists in the imitation of end-bearing on a stump in the adjustable socket with the put-on reception sleeve and to training in use before fitting and walking with an artificial limb. This medical technology of early restoration of moving ability after amputation of a shin or a hip with the application of new designs of adjustable reception sleeves from thermoplastic materials in the form of a adjustable socket row with modular connection for assembly of artificial limbs of the lower extremities by express methods provides essential positive social and economic effect. The technical documentation set on new designs of artificial limbs of a shin and hip is developed for early primary prosthetics. The offered medical technology of early primary prosthetics is introduced at 27 state and five non-state prosthetic and orthopedic enterprises of the Russian Federation and also the prosthetic and orthopedic enterprises of Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan), Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan).

Abstract:
Abstract. The purpose of the work is to develop and substantiate a technique for physical rehabilitation in knee arthrosis. We assumed that the technique we developed will contribute to the speedy restoration of knee joint functions, the removal of pain syndrome and an increase in the physical activity of patients. Of greatest importance in kinesitherapy is the determination of women's motor capabilities, abilities for household and labor skills, for which muscle testing on multifunctional simulators is used. For subjective assessment of pain, we proposed a verbal descriptive scale. This method is designed to determine the intensity of pain and allows you to evaluate the subjective pain sensations that the patient experiences at the time of the study. Hydroxynesitherapy is in the physical rehabilitation program. When performing gymnastics in water, different depth of immersion is used, dynamic exercises, exercises with elastic (rubber) bandage, rubber espanders, shovels (to increase rowing resistance), flippers and special cuffs on knee joints are used. Duration of classes 15–20 min 2–3 times a week, course 30–45 days and subsequent application of teips. The rehabilitation included treatment baths, which women conducted independently at home. When conducting kinesitherapeutic measures, we took into account the patient's complaints, we carried out medical supervision, control of heart rate and blood pressure. We presented the results of the study of influence of the proposed technique on morphofunctional state of women 45–50 years old. We noted positive dynamics of influence of kinesitherapy on motor functions of knee joint.

ObjectivesTo develop and validate a protocol for MRI assessment of the distal radial and ulnar periphyseal area in gymnasts and non-gymnasts.MethodsTwenty-four gymnasts with wrist pain, 18 asymptomatic gymnasts and 24 non-gymnastic controls (33 girls) underwent MRI of the wrist on a 3T scanner. Sequences included coronal proton density-weighted images with and without fat saturation, and three-dimensional water-selective cartilage scan and T2 Dixon series. Skeletal age was determined using hand radiographs. Three experienced musculoskeletal radiologists established a checklist of possible (peri)physeal abnormalities based on literature and clinical experience. Five other musculoskeletal radiologists and residents evaluated 30 MRI scans (10 from each group) using this checklist and reliability was determined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Fleiss’ kappa. A final evaluation protocol was established containing only items with fair to excellent reliability.ResultsTwenty-seven items were assessed for reliability. Intra-rater and inter-rater agreement was good to excellent (respective ICCs 0.60–0.91 and 0.60–0.78) for four epiphyseal bone marrow oedema-related items, physeal signal intensity, metaphyseal junction and depth of metaphyseal intrusions. For physeal thickness, thickness compared with proximal physis of first metacarpal, metaphyseal intrusions, physeal connection of intrusions and metaphyseal bone marrow signal intensity, intra-rater agreement was fair to excellent (ICC/kappa 0.55–0.85) and inter-rater agreement was fair (ICC/kappa 0.41–0.59). Twelve items were included in the final protocol.ConclusionThe Amsterdam MRI assessment of the Physis protocol facilitates patient-friendly and reliable assessment of the (peri)physeal area in the radius and ulna.

Abstract:
The article reveals the theoretical foundations of the organization of leisure for student youth; the forms and styles of carrying out of permitting activity are characterized; the negative impact of motor activity deficit on students' health is considered; the concept of students' leisure is given; its characteristic features are highlighted; the shortcomings of the organization of physical education classes in higher education institutions (HEIs) are analyzed; the main classes of student youth during leisure are shown; to maintain and promote health, the need to include various forms of physical activity in the daily routine is indicated. Based on the analysis of the scientific literature, the concept of «youth leisure» is interpreted as part of free time, which contrasts with professional activities, meets the psychophysical characteristics of young people and aims to meet the cultural needs and interests of a healthy person. In connection with the transformation of the information environment, the emergence of the Internet, changes in the leisure needs of young people, etc., there are some clear trends in the organization and conduct of student youth leisure: a gradual departure from traditional forms of conduct; domestication of leisure; prevalence of entertaining and passive orientation of activity over developing and active; fascination with innovative active sports games, video games. To maintain and strengthen the health of students in the day it is necessary to include various forms of physical activity: morning hygienic gymnastics, sports and recreation activities, outdoor activities, breathing exercises, exercises to develop leg muscles, torso, arms (various jumps), walking, flexion and extension of the arms in a supine position, dance exercises, other exercises to taste). Mandatory use of natural (sun, air, water) and hygienic (hygiene training, recreation, personal hygiene) factors. No less important are proper and rational nutrition, sleep, regular change of mental and physical activity.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Fat is a metabolic fuel, but excess body fat is ballast mass, and therefore, many elite athletes reduce body fat to dangerously low levels. Uncompressed subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) thickness measured by brightness-mode ultrasound (US) provides an estimate of body fat content. Methods The accuracy for determining tissue borders is about 0.1–0.2 mm and reliability (experienced measurers) was within ± 1.4 mm (95% limit of agreement, LOA). We present here inter- and intra-measurer scores of three experienced US measurers from each of the centres C1 and C2, and of three novice measurers from each of the centres C3–C5. Each of the five centres measured 16 competitive adult athletes of national or international level, except for one centre where the number was 12. The following sports were included: artistic gymnastics, judo, pentathlon, power lifting, rowing, kayak, soccer, tennis, rugby, basketball, field hockey, water polo, volleyball, American football, triathlon, swimming, cycling, long-distance running, mid-distance running, hurdles, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and ice hockey. SAT contour was detected semi-automatically: typically, 100 thicknesses of SAT at a given site (i.e., in a given image), with and without fibrous structures, were measured. Results At SAT thickness sums DI (of eight standardised sites) between 6.0 and 70.0 mm, the LOA of experienced measurers was 1.2 mm, and the intra-class correlation coefficient ICC was 0.998; novice measurers: 3.1 mm and 0.988. Intra-measurer differences were similar. The median DI value of all 39 female participants was 51 mm (11% fibrous structures) compared to 17 mm (18%) in the 37 male participants. Discussion DI measurement accuracy and precision enables detection of fat mass changes of approximately 0.2 kg. Such reliability has not been reached with any other method. Although females’ median body mass index and mass index were lower than those of males, females’ median DI was three times higher, and their percentage of fibrous structures was lower. The standardised US method provides a highly accurate and reliable tool for measuring SAT and thus changes in body fat, but training of measurers is important.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of respiratory physical therapy on the level of free fluid in the pleural cavities after cardiac surgery. Materials and methods. The study involved 138 patients. The patients were randomly divided into three groups: control (respiratory physical therapy was limited to cough), group of incentive spirometry (in classes with a physical therapist patients performed additional 3 approaches of 10 breaths through the simulator; they received recommendations for hourly performance of a similar number of cycles of exercise), a group of patients who received additional respiratory physical therapy with positive expiratory pressure in the form of exhalation into a bottle of water through a tube (number of repetitions and recommendations are similar to those received by the previous group). All groups underwent the same protocol of mobilization and use of therapeutic physical exercises in the procedure of therapeutic gymnastics. Performing exercises with breathing simulators began on the 1st postoperative day. Results and discussion. The results of ultrasound examinations of the level of free fluid in the left and right pleural cavities, which were performed according to the postoperative protocol, were studied. The first ultrasound examination, which was analyzed, was performed on the seventh postoperative day, and in the absence of the study on this day, the data of the next study were selected with the registration of the postoperative day number. In addition, the indicators of the final studies of the level of free fluid of the pleural cavities were compared. The position of the patient during the examinations was a sitting one. Analysis of the level of pleural effusion did not establish the benefits of using additional respiratory physical therapy in both groups. The results of studies of the right pleural cavities did not differ in groups of patients, but those of the left ones differed. Conclusion. Pairwise comparison of the groups confirmed the presence of statistically worse results of examinations of the left pleural cavities in the group of incentive spirometry, as well as the absence of statistical differences between the results of the other two groups. The negative effect of incentive spirometry should be confirmed by additional studies, as its effect differed for the results of the left (negative effect) and right (no advantage) pleural cavity

Performing exercises with breathing simulators began on the first postoperative day. Results and discussion. A questionnaire (17 questions) was used to assess the satisfaction with physical therapy. The survey was conducted on the seventh postoperative day. The answers were distributed on a 5-point Likert scale from 1 point to 5 points. The key preoperative indicators and time indicators of surgical interventions of the examined groups did not differ significantly. Analysis of satisfaction with physical therapy revealed a high level in all items of the questionnaire. Statistical differences between the groups were found in only three items of the questionnaire, but they were not related to either the use of equipment or diligence in treatment or the content of physical therapy. The overall score of the questionnaire did not differ in groups according to the Kraskel-Wallis criterion, and Me indicators (25%; 75%) were in the control group – 81 (77; 85) points, in the group of stimulating spirometry – 81 (72; 85) points in the group with positive expiratory pressure – 79 (73; 84) points (χ2 = 4.560; p = 0.102). Conclusion. Additional respiratory physical therapy did not affect the overall satisfaction rate and results of most items of the questionnaire. The differences found in the three items did not indicate any effect of the use of respiratory physical therapy on the level of satisfaction, as higher scores in these items were in the control group. This study determined dietary intake and energy balance of elite premenarcheal rhythmic gymnasts during their preseason training. Forty rhythmic gymnasts and 40 sedentary age-matched females (10–12 yrs) participated in the study. Anthropometric profile and skeletal ages were determined. Dietary intake and physical activity were assessed to estimate daily energy intake, daily energy expenditure, and resting metabolic rate. Groups demonstrated comparable height, bone age, pubertal development, resting metabolic rate. Gymnasts had lower body mass, BMI, body fat than age-matched controls. Although groups demonstrated comparable daily energy intake, gymnasts exhibited a higher daily energy expenditure resulting in a daily energy deficit. Gymnasts also had higher carbohydrate intake but lower fat and calcium intake. Both groups were below the recommended dietary allowances for fiber, water, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin intake. Gymnasts may need to raise their daily energy intake to avoid the energy deficit during periods of intense training.

The energy expenditure and hence energy requirements of 12 young Chinese gymnasts attending a specialized school in Beijing were assessed. Total energy expenditure was measured using the doubly labeled water technique and this, in conjunction with measures of basal metabolic rate (BMR), allows the calculation of a physical activity level (PAL). Mean PAL value for the gymnasts was 1.98, which is significantly different from published mean values found in nongymnast children of a similar age. This mean value is equivalent to very heavy levels of physical activity during the periods of training being undertaken. This is the first time that energy expenditure has been noninvasively measured in free-living young gymnasts. The data will be of use to sports scientists and nutritionists alike.

Abstract:
Purpose: the comparative analysis of the physical development and somatotype of girls and females involved in dancing and gymnastic sports (acrobatic rock and roll, sports aerobics) Material: The study involved 45 girls and females. Group 1 - acrobatic rock and roll (n = 25, age - 13.00 ± 0.41 years); Group 2 - sports aerobics (n = 20, age - 19.70 ± 0.59 years). It was determined the length and body weight. It was evaluated the level and harmony of physical development. The bioimpedance method was applied to determine the composition of muscle and fat tissue, the level of visceral fat. It was evaluated the body mass index, water composition in the body. The results are evaluated by applying parametric and non-parametric statistical indicators. Results: the average level of physical development dominates in athletes. Its specific gravity is: group 1 - (64.00 ± 9.60)%; group 2 - (50 ± 11.18)%. Rather high prevalence of the level below the average: group 1 - (20.00 ± 8.00)%; group 2 - (25.00 ± 9.68)%. The proportion of athletes with harmonious development was: group 1 - (64.00 ± 9.60)%; group 2 - (50.00 ± 11.18)%. The disharmony of physical development due to overweight: group 1 - (20.00 ± 8.00)%; group 2 - (30.00 ± 10.25)%. The disharmony of development due to underweight: group 1 - (16.00 ± 7.33)%; group 2 - (20.00 ± 8.94)%. The average values of fat tissue reflect its normal composition in both groups. In group 1, was determined the normal for the age fat composition in (52.00 ± 9.99)%; low level of fat had (48.00 ± 9.99)%. In group 2, the normal fat composition was found in (75.00 ± 9.68)%. The increased fat composition was (15.00 ± 7.98)% of female athletes. The reduced fat composition was (10.00 ± 7.61)% of female athletes. The level of visceral fat in athletes of group 2 was within the age norm. Female athletes of group 1 were characterized by virtually no visceral fat. The specific gravity of muscle tissue in all athletes was above the average for this age group. Group water composition in both groups was average. Conclusions: Most athletes have an average harmonious physical development. Deviations of physical development are most often associated with underweight. It is determined the increase in the composition of muscle mass above the average age standards for all female athletes. The composition of fat tissue in 52% of female athletes of the younger group corresponded to the average value. The rest of the athletes had a fat composition below normal. In the older group: 75% of athletes had an average fat composition; 15% of athletes had a reduced fat composition; 10% of athletes had a high fat composition. It was determined the significant differences between groups. The female athletes of group 1 had smaller values of body length, body weight, the specific gravity of fat tissue and visceral fat, body water composition, and body mass index. Females of group 1 had a big specific gravity of muscle tissue. The application of the bioimpedance method has significantly expanded the data obtained in the analysis of anthropometric indicators and indices. This method can be recommended for monitoring the functional condition of athletes dancing and gymnastic sports.

Abstract:
Background Pisiform excision and pisotriquetral arthrodesis are two surgical options for the treatment of pisotriquetral joint pain when conservative methods fail. However, it is unclear which option is best for patients who experience substantial, repetitive loading on their wrists and wish to preserve wrist flexibility and function. Case Description We present a case of bilateral ulnar-sided wrist pain related to the pisotriquetral joint in a 19-year-old collegiate diver. The pain was exacerbated by activities specific to this sport that requires wrist hyperextension, namely full weight-bearing on the hands (handstands), and has an impact on the hands and wrists upon water entry during dives due to direct palmar pressure. There were no radiographic signs of arthritis; however, there were bone marrow changes on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Management with rest, splinting, and corticosteroid injection failed to relieve the pain and precluded his ability to return to full-time diving. Treatment consisted of bilateral pisiform excision. Postoperatively, the patient returned to full-time competitive diving with resolution of his painful symptoms. Literature Review Pisiform excision has been shown to have successful outcomes in terms of return to play for lower impact athletes (such as badminton) but has not been reported in athletes who experience a high degree of force repetitively (such as gymnasts or divers). There is one report of pisotriquetral arthrodesis in a young gymnast with suboptimal results. Clinical Relevance This case report demonstrates that pisiform excision is a successful treatment for elite athletes who experience repetitive, palmar force on hyperextended wrists and subsequently develop ulnar-sided wrist pain.

Abstract: During physical activity, blood flow and oxygen usage will increase in order to transport oxygen which is required by muscles during exercise. One of the parameters to check the amount of oxygen that is bound to hemoglobin is oxygen saturation. This study aimed to determine the level of blood oxygen saturation of those who consumed mineral water and high oxygenated water during zumba gymnastics. This was an analytical experiments method with pre and post test approach. Total samples were 31 people who met the criteria and were willing to become the respondents. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Test. The results showed that the oxygen saturation before and after consuming mineral water (97.5±0.9) and (97.7±1.03) meanwhile before and after consuming high oxygenated water (97.6±0.75) and (98.7±0.44). The Wilcoxon test showed that there was a significant difference of blood oxygen saturation between before and after consuming high-oxygenated water (p=0.000) whereas for other respondents who consumed mineral water, there was no significant difference in their condition before and after consuming mineral water (p=0.198). Conclusion: There was a higher increase in blood oxygen saturation value before and after consuming oxygenated water compared to before and after consuming mineral water. Keywords: oxygen saturation, mineral water, and oxygenated water.Abstrak: Ketika beraktivitas fisik, aliran darah dan penggunaan oksigen akan meningkat untuk mengangkut oksigen yang diperlukan pada otot selama latihan. Abstract:
AbstractIntroductionThe combination of healthy food and fluid consumption is indicative for the nutritional habits of any individual. A balanced eating behavior is crucial during the growth phases, especially when they participate in regular physical activities in order to meet energy balance and nutritional quality.PurposeThis study investigated the eating behaviors and fluid consumption in adolescents who participate regularly in various physical activities.MethodsIn this study, 218 adolescents, 110 males and 108 females, (age: 12.9 ± 1.8 yrs, height: 158 ± 12.4 cm, weight: 49.0 ± 12.2 kg, BMI: 19.4 ± 2.8 kg/m2) were recruited from Greece, participating in regular activities. Football, tennis, basket, swimming, track & field, rhythmic gymnastics, tae kwon do and Greek traditional dance are the activities selected for intensive energy expenditure. A validated questionnaire was used for the identification of the nutritional attitudes and routine, while non-parametric statistics was utilized.ResultsThe majority of participants (69.2%) eat breakfast almost every day while the rest (30.8%) doesn't eat at a regular basis. As it concerns the dairy products, 82.6% of the participants eat less than 2 portions per day. Furthermore, 43.1% of the participants seems to eat red meat at most 1 time per week while similarly, the 86.7% of them choose to consume fish only once. Ιn terms of snack consumption, 81.6% of the adolescents, eat 1–2 fruits per day, while in contrast, 53.6% of them are used to consume unhealthy sweets more than 3 times per week. Lastly, 54.5% of the participants drink less than 5 glasses water per day, whereas the 47.3% doesn't drink water at a regular basis during the training.ConclusionOur findings revealed that Greek adolescents’ diet doesn't come to an agreement with the Healthy Lifestyle Pyramid. As far as it concerns the dairy products, which are important during the growth phases, subjects consume less than 2 portions per day rather than 4 which is the recommended. Also, they eat only once a week fish or red meat, while they prefer to consume unhealthy snacks frequently. Moreover, their fluid consumption habits don't meet their hydration needs even though they participate systematically in physical activities. Interestingly, although their eating behavior is not the appropriate, the BMI is within normal range, probably because of the adherence to regular exercise. However, the beneficial effect of exercise is not enough to stay healthy towards adulthood and they still need manipulation of their daily nutrition.

Abstract:
One of the environmental variables associated with early talent development and the achievement of a high level of proficiency in sport is the relative age effect (RAE). The purpose of our study was threefold: (a) to calculate the RAE in young Israeli athletes (ages 14–18 years); (b) to examine how the athletes perceived this effect, if the effect indeed exists; and (c) to compare the RAE findings of this study with those of two previous studies on elite male (Lidor et al., 2010) and female (Lidor et al., 2014) Israeli ballplayers. Participants in the current study were 1,397 athletes (390 females and 1,007 males) who competed in five individual (gymnastics, judo, swimming, tennis, and track and field) and five team (basketball, soccer, team handball, volleyball, and water polo) sports. Data on the RAE, as well as on a number of aspects associated with this effect as perceived by the athletes, were collected via two closed questions. Data analyses showed that the RAE was found to be significant among the male athletes in four sports—swimming, basketball, soccer, and team handball; those who were born early in the year had a higher representation in these sport programs. However, this effect was not found to be significant in the female athletes. Most of the female and male athletes did not think that their birth date influenced their athletic success. However, a large portion of those who were born in the first quarter of the year (Q1) and the second quarter of the year (Q2) among the male athletes felt that they exhibited stronger abilities in the sports program compared to their peers who were born in the third and fourth quarters of the year (Q3 and Q4, respectively). The data of the current study provide additional support for the use of an “open door” approach to accepting children to sport programs by policymakers and coaches in Israel.

Abstract:
Sarah Huss Jønsson: The cultivation of gender and body within the vitalistic art in Denmark in the beginning of the 20th century.Vitalism was a cultural current that emphasized the cultivation of the sensuous human body in close contact with nature. It found expression in philosophy, art and the broad body cultures in the period 1890-1945. The cultivation of the vitality was influenced by the development of the modern society around 1900, which changed materially, mentally, economically, socially as well as in physical culture. In exchange for Christianity, which slowly lost its authority, the vitalists found the meaning of human existence in the cultivation of the active body and outdoor life, while the cultivation of nature – due to the influence of modern science – was put in connection with the human health. After 1945 the ideas of vitalism faded away, probably because of Nazi-Germany`s use of a distinct cultivation of the human body and instinct. Within the last decade it has been viewed by the historian Hans Bonde that there exists a significant cultivation of manliness in the vitalism of art, as it is seen in the vitalism of sports and gymnastics. Furthermore it is also claimed by the scholar Lise Præstgaard that the representation of genders in the vitalism of art is affected by the biological view on gender that was dominating at that time. Therefore the genders are claimed to be pictured in dichotomy: man is mainly seen as the rational and active gender, woman is mainly seen as the soft and sensuous one. The purpose of this article is to examine whether these above theses can be seen in such a distinct way in regard to the vitalism of art? Or should it be viewed in a more nuanced way? Finally the article sets out to examine whether there is a possible connection between the lives of the artists and their description of the genders in their vitalistic works. The leading cultivators of vitality in Denmark were a group of painters called »the Hellenists« (1894-1903). Inspired by the old Greeks they gathered each summer to explore the mix between outdoor painting and gymnastics – all naked. After 1900 vitalism was expressed in a wider sense by the painters J. F. Willumsen and Oluf Hartmann and by the sculptors Kai Nielsen and Rudolph Tegner in their respective works such as »En bjergbestigerske« (»The mounteneeress «) (1904), »Jakobs kamp med englen« (»Jakobs fight with the angel«) (1908), »Vandmoderen« (»The water-mother«) (1919-1920) and »Mod lyset« (»Towards the light«) (1909). Beside the effect of the cultivation of the body and nature in modern society, the artists also very much seem to be influenced by their private lives in their description of the genders in their vitalistic works. When it comes to Willumsen, Tegner and Kai Nielsen they all fell in love in the period when they started to express themselves in a vitalistic way. In Willumsen´s »En bjergbestigerske « this was expressed through an emphasis on the beauty and independence of the woman and the greatness of nature. In Tegner´s creation of »Mod lyset« his vision of the healing forces of the sunlight seems to affect him. Here the vitalism is seen in the lofty placement of man, women and child and their naked voluminous, muscular bodies and expressive movements upwards, which put them in touch with the life-giving sunlight. Kai Nielsen´s love for the woman and the children was inspired by his own family and influenced the vitalistic expression in »Vandmoderen«. Here the naked, sensuous and fertile woman is in close contact with a lot of lively naked children, which is underscored by its connection with the life-giving water and the children´s activity. Hartmann represents the cultivation of the »homoerotic« element in painting. For Hartmann it is seen in »Jakobs kamp med englen«, which expresses the passion, instinct and intensity of vital and powerful men´s bodily fight. This inspiration Hartmann might have got from his painting teacher, Kristian Zahrtmann, who was homosexual and a cultivator of manliness. It is seen that the woman – and not only the man - can be seen as the active gender, and also that the cultivation of women and children as well as youth and manliness is a defining factor in vitalism. Therefore this article does not entirely reject the above theses on the cultivation of the genders in the vitalistic art. It rather wants to speak for a modification of the theses.
