Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is an effective tool to measure the geological properties. A lot of information can be interpreted from the GPR data, such as soil water content. One of the common approaches is to determine the apparent electrical permittivity from the transmission velocity of the impulse electromagnetic wave, and to use empirical relationships to estimate the soil water content. For example, Ferre equation & Topp equation are all expressing the relationship between soil water content and electrical permittivity. However, this method has some limitations; most notably the ne

As the number of these variables increases, the computational requirements quickly saturate the capabilities of the existing management methods. Abstract:
Surface water is globally becoming more and more a scarce resource, and in Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia, river water quality has been degraded due to anthropological forcing for many years. Therefore, the study objective was to investigate causes and impact of surface water pollution in Kebena and Great Akaki rivers. The technical aspect of the study focused on analysing the parameters E. coli, phosphate, nitrate and total ammonia nitrogen in 34 different sampling sites in the western part of the Great Akaki catchment. The other aspect was to evaluate authorities’ and companies’ perspec

Abstract:
Water Distribution Systems (WDS) are one of the most important infrastructures in a society, which has a direct impact on human lives. Water authorities around the world are expected to supply the required amount of water at adequate pressure and potable quality to the consumers at all times. For achieving this task, proper system and resource management need to be carried out. Optimal or near optimal management of the WDS is rendered challenging due to various issues the system is plagued with. WDS around the world have to deal with many issues such as leakage, water quality degradation, dema

Abstract:
DICE, a Swedish game company, wanted a more realistic water simulation. Currently, most large scale water simulations used in games are based upon ocean simulation technology. These techniques falter when used in other scenarios, such as coastlines. In order to produce a more realistic simulation, a new one was created based upon the water simulation technique "Wavefront Parameter Interpolation". This technique involves a rather extensive preprocess that enables ocean simulations to have interactions with the terrain. This paper is about optimizing the current implementation of DICE's water si
