Abstract:
After harvesting root crops (beets, carrots, turnips) are stored in the fields or in the processing enterprises warehouse areas. Storage takes place in open space, and not always under shelters. Bulk heaps are formed from the collected root crops. Harmful microflora may occur in it under the influence of various weather conditions. This article discusses the root crops quality reducing issues. The raw materials quality deteriorates due to the development and increase in damaging fungal diseases. This leads to raw materials losses and a decrease in the processing plants productivity. The subjec

Yields of field crops in Indo-Gangetic plains of India have decreased due to the advent of increasing water scarcity in this century. The water is a very limiting input in this region for the crop production; its efficiency is quite low in the range 30–40 per cent, thereby about 60–70 per cent of irrigation water is lost during conveyance and application. Irrigation farming, the greatest water user of all, has been made responsible for inefficient water use. There is also not available new land for agriculture to meet the demand of ever increasing population in terms of food and cl

An important factor in increasing the efficiency of crop diversification in West Kazakhstan and reducing the dependence of crop productivity on weather conditions is the expansion of crops most adapted to unsustainable humidification of plants such as chickpeas, Sudan grass, sorghum, corn and sunflower. One of the ways to increase the productivity of Sudanese grass is to use its mixed crops with chickpeas, sunflower, corn and sorghum. Mixtures due to the best quality indicators of feed provide the maximum yield of feed units and digestible protein. The article presents research data on the stu

Lighting of plant crops (phytolighting) realized on the basis of LEDs has revolutionized the field of indoor agriculture and cultivation of crops in closed controlled environments due to the possibility of optimizing the spectral composition and high energy efficiency. The use of specialised quasi-monochromatic radiation allows the activation of specific photomorphogenic, biochemical or physiological responses in plants, while LED radiation of a specific spectral composition (e.g. UV radiation) allows the control of plant pests and diseases. Right fertilizer placement is one of the 4Rs of an effective nutrient stewardship system and should be combined with considerations for the right fertilizer source, rate, and timing. Fertilizer placement decisions depend on mobility of applied nutrients in the soil and the depth and distribution of the crop's root system. Various methods are used to apply fertilizers to horticultural crops, including broadcasting, banding, fertigation, foliar application, and microinjection. Generally, the most appropriate method for any crop increases productivity and profitability and improves fertilizer use

In Vietnam, esp. In the northwest region, tea and coffee crops have been increasing in both quality and quantity and scientists are trying to find ways to increase productivity, as well as eliminate damaging insects and coffee berry borer, etc in order to reduce damages for farmers. The fact in agriculture is that when farmers are in good crops, the coffee price is going down and vice versa. In our last paper, we have mentioned coffee berry borer, and until this paper, we will explore new issues of increasing productivity, quality and quantity for both tea and coffee crops in Vietnam, esp. in

Weeding has been the bane of humanity since the dawn of agriculture. For about 70 years, synthetic herbicides have removed much of the drudgery of this onerous task. Glyphosate was introduced as a non-selective herbicide in 1974. Its ideal properties made it a very popular herbicide, and the introduction of glyphosate-resistant (GR) crops allowed its use as a selective herbicide, greatly expanding its use to become the most used herbicide on earth. For farmers who used glyphosate in GR crops, it was the golden age of weed management, as this technology significantly improved the efficacy and r

Modern intensive farming led to a significant increase in agricultural production. In all countries, pure (single-species) crops dominate, causing many problems in agriculture. Single-species agro-systems are highly productive, but potentially unstable, since they depend entirely on significant resources from outside. There are several ways of diversifying agroecosystems. One of the most promising areas is the introduction into practice of combined crops. The paper has studied and analyzed various technologies for sowing seeds from several crops simultaneously on the same area in a single row.
