Abstract:
This paper proposes a specific architecture of campus security management system based on WCF service of SOA and RFID technology, aiming at meeting the security and scalability requirement of the distributed environment of campus security management system. With the help of WCF service models, the underlying interaction among database, data access layer, RFID device information transaction and business logic processing are packaged seamlessly. Then the WCF service models provide platform-independent service to .Net MVC Framework Controller, which could be replaced by any type of caller, separating the presentation and implementation of this system. Because of the advantages of reducing the degree of coupling and greatly enhancing the security, scalability and reliability of the system, this architecture has been one of the recommended trends of software architecture.

Abstract:
<p><em>This study investigated whether EFL Post-Basic education teachers’ perceptions toward teachers’ practice of written corrective feedback (WCF) varied according to three contextual variables gender, teaching experience, and in-service training on WCF. It also attempted to investigate the challenges teachers encounter when providing WCF. The quantitative data was collected from 156 EFL teachers who were teaching Post-Basic education grades (11-12). The participants were randomly selected from three governorates in Oman: Muscat, Al Batinah South, and Sharqia North. The study showed that the only variable that had an effect on teachers’ perceptions was the number of training workshops/courses received on WCF. It also revealed that teachers perceived the challenge of focusing on all types of errors (content, organisation, and language) simultaneously as the most common difficulty they were experiencing. Some suggested recommendations of the study for the Ministry of Education, EFL teachers, and further studies were finally provided.</em><em></em></p>

Service-Oriented architecture (SOA) has increasingly becoming an architectural evolution as one of the software design principles. This paper proposes an architecture design of an online collaborative agreement signing system based on SOA. The advantages over traditional designs are loose coupling, scalability and flexible combination of services. Web service model of the proposed solution is also described. Electronic seal and digital watermark are discussed as the domain knowledge as well. Sample software based on Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) technology on .NET platform is introduced in the last part of the paper.

Abstract:
This study takes place at a university in Venezuela where Spanish is the first language. The participants are teacher trainers on a five-year program in a subject area called English Practice, where future English language teachers develop their language skills. Adopting an interpretive stance by examining qualitative and quantitative data gathered from two online questionnaires, this exploratory research aims to explore the practices and beliefs teacher trainers have regarding written corrective feedback (WCF) on their learners’ writing in English. The findings reveal that trainers use more than one WCF strategy, favouring the use of codes and the provision of the correct form; the trainers report they aim to correct all errors encountered in their students’ written productions since they think it improves learners’ grammar accuracy while raising their language awareness. Data demonstrate that trainers WCF beliefs are influenced by previous experiences as language learners, institutional guidelines, views of second language teaching and learning and teacher development programs. Results show that trainers believe they should adopt a more rigorous WCF approach with pre-service teachers than with other learners due to the fact trainees are regarded as prospective language models who need to avoid errors in their future teaching practice.

In the Internet of Things (IoT), multiple communication protocols are used to connect the smart device. Wi-Fi, Xbee, ZigBee, Bluetooth, and LoRaWAN are some of the communication channels utilized for connectivity by devices using some IoT platform.In order to enable the development of smart services for IoT platforms, there are solutions by different vendors to connect between IoT devices. For example, multiple IoT platforms are available in the market namely IoTivity platform developed by Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), AllJoyn platform from All Seen Alliance, Weave made by Google, and Home Kit by Apple. In view of such segmentation of IoT platforms, IoT Application’s development has been made complex, where IoT device and accompanying application compatibility with available platforms requires support for multiple protocols.To simplify the complexity introduced by multiple platforms, M2M [4] International standard was already proposed as the bridge for integrating IoT protocols. In our paper, we implement a proxy web service using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) as a way to translate communication in one IoT protocol to another. In our implementation of middleware, we allowed the MQTT broker to accept messages, which were passed, to the Web Service from various devices over Hyper Text Protocol’s POST or GET Commands. Bridging between WCF Web Service and MQTT broker was enabled with duplex communication. Hence, devices supporting either HTTP protocol or MQTT protocol were able to communicate transparently.

Currently, in terms of smart meter information acquisition system, there exists problems such as high cost of development, difficulty in system maintenance and poor integration ability. To solve the integration problems, a service-oriented smart meter information acquisition system is proposed in this paper with the usage of service oriented architecture. In the concrete implementation, problems of processing brought by multiple protocols are worked out by adopting the object-oriented method. Meanwhile, in order to deal with the blocking of client process during the smart meter reading procedure, WCF technology, as a solution, is put forward.

In view of the popularity of mobile device within the industry, a mobile monitor extension of PC-PLC architecture is designed and implemented. The extension module utilizes OLE for Process Control (OPC) technology to access industry control configuration software, and then publishes monitoring operations as service by employing Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), so that management staffs can monitor the process of production by any mobile device which has ability to invoke web service. Since Android operation system has a high market share, some industry controls based on Android are developed, which have been used to configure production pictures. Combing production picture generated in advance and real-time production data, the extension module is able to provide the capability of visual monitoring at any time and place.

Abstract:
In the early 1970's, the growing awareness of the potential ecological impacts of fire suppression and the threat of more intensive fires due to fuel accumulation in fire-suppressed forests prompted the National Park Service to allow some fires to burn (Grand Teton National Park 1974). One of the first "prescribed natural fires" in a western National Park was the Waterfalls Canyon Fire (WCF) in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP). It was ignited by lightning in July 1974. Amid much public controversy (Anonymous 1974), the fire burned 1414 ha before it was extinguished by snow in December. In the following year, GTNP biologists established permanent plots within and adjacent to the WCF in forests dominated by subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, and lodgepole pine, and which varied in fire severity and time since fire. The goal of the study was to document the effect of the 1974 fire by monitoring long-term changes in vegetation, breeding birds, and small mammals (Barmore et al. 1976). Data were collected from four study areas in 1975, 1976, 1977, and 1983 under the direction of William Barmore. In 1991 and 1992 we resampled the permanently-marked vegetation plots and breeding bird transects. Our objectives were to compile, analyze and interpret all of the data collected from the four study areas since 1975.

With rapid tempo of development in the information technology, design model of information network based on three-layer structure and WCF could solve problems about dormitory managing work which relies on its merit as to independence of programming language and platform. It makes programmers’ distribution and collaboration of tasks more effective to apply key technology of three-layer structure and Web Service to student dormitory management system’s design and implement. Therefore, developers of system can pay more attention to the relative business logic in order to reduce difficulty of maintenance in late stage of software development life cycle. Moreover, it does not need artificial intervention to realize RFID which has speedily and convenience operation. In this case, efficiency of managing work and unity of system data can be guaranteed.

Abstract:
This thesis project is about collecting usage statistics in an application, how the information can be logged and presented in a suitable way and to what purpose these statistics are used. The project is a logging service to which applications can connect and send performance and usage data. The service logs the data to a file, which can be opened in QlikView for presentation of data statistics. The resulting statistics are planned to be used for the evaluation and improvement of the client application and improvement on the end users way of working with that application. The service was implemented as a WCF service in C# and uses the logging capabilities of the Enterprise Library Logging Application Block. A WCF service is a service capable of having a variety of different applications connected to it, using different communication protocols. The result of our project is a working service prototype which logs data to file. Data generated by a test client is successfully logged by our service and its statistics is displayed in an application named QlikView.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with integration of separate .NET programs of photovoltaic power plant monitoring system. The main goal is integration of functions provided by programs into a single communication interface in the form of SOAP and REST compatible web service while minimizing cost. The integration is performed using a newly developed integration application that dynamically generates a web service using WCF technology. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part describes the current state of the photovoltaic power plant monitoring system, its problems and solution conditions. According to these problems and conditions is designed the target state of the system. The second part is divided into phases of the project according to the OpenUP methodology. Inception phase contains a selection of technologies and approaches that are used to achieve the target state of the system in compliance with solution conditions. Elaboration phase describes how to design and define the necessary tasks of development and implementation. In construction phase is described development and implementation of tasks of designed solution within integration application including object type serialization. Transition phase describes the individual tasks of editing existing programs to achieve integration. The last part of this thesis describes some possible directions for further development of the solution. The contribution of this thesis consists in the comprehensive elaboration of all main tasks of integration of programs.

This thesis deals with distributed applications and WCF framework. The first part is based on theoretical information about distributed systems and we also concentrate on models of distributed systems. Next part describes WCF framework and key elements of WCF application. The following chapter is designated to introduce information about prime factorization. Then the knowledge from previous parts is used to create examples of service-oriented applications. In conclusion we discuss main parts of designing distributed application to solve factorization problem. Finally the comparison of distributed and dedicated application is made.

The diploma thesis is focused on Silverlight technology, possibilities of running and application developments. Next Windows Presentation Foundation is introduced, which Silverlight technology results from, and the principal of creation user interface in XAML. Data bindings are used for the information presentation gained from web services. Concept called Windows Communication Foundation enables relatively easy application development gaining data from different resources through web services. Principals of communication with web services based on SOAP and REST architecture are described. An application for observing current stock exchanges information was developed on the base of previous studies. The application consists of server and client side. The server side obtains data from resources which are free available. These data are published through web services. Silverlight client gets data from web services and presents them to users. User settings are stored on server in database. ADO.NET Entity Framework and Domain Service are used for the access to the database.

Abstract:
This thesis investigates different aspects of implementing a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for an alarm and crisis management system called Wearable Command Unit (WCU) developed by Saab Security Systems. The WCU system must be able to integrate easily with external systems in order to move into new markets and survive as a product. The focus of this report is a general solution for communicating alarm information from external systems to the WCU. A given requirement was that the solution must be based on SOA. Therefore, the concept of SOA is investigated and its applicability is considered for the WCU architecture. A design proposal based on a combination of open information and communication technologies was made to show how WCU may use SOA to receive alarm information from external systems. The design proposal was evaluated by a load test as well as comparing its conformance to SOA. The load test showed that the proposed solution can process incoming messages at a rate of 2 ms per message when client and server are run on the same machine. The result of the comparison showed that the WCU can, with small modifications, apply a SOA. While this thesis has only investigated the use of SOA in the context of alarm information, there is a clear trend toward integrating information for diverse systems to enable users to have better quality information. Providing first responders with the information that they need, when and where they need it can enable them to save lives, save property, and reduce the risk to the public of incidents. An important result from this thesis is the observation that a system that needs to integrate with many distinct systems can be better prepared if made SOA conformant. This requires the system to have an interface towards other systems based on platform independent protocols. Systems such as the WCU, which are based on Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), can easily add such an interface by configuring WCF in an appropriate way.
Detta examensarbete undersöker olika möjligheter att implementera Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) för ett larm- och krishanteringssystem kallat Wearable Command Unit (WCU) utvecklat av Saab Security Systems. För att kunna nå nya marknader och utvecklas som produkt, är det viktigt att WCU-systemet på ett enkelt sätt kan integreras med externa system. Detta examensarbete fokuserar på att ta fram en generell lösning för att kommunicera larminformation från externa system till WCU. Ett förbestämt krav var att lösningen måste vara baserad på SOA. Begreppet SOA undersöks och dess tillämpningsbarhet för WCU undersöks. Ett designförslag baserat på en kombination av öppna informations- och kommunikationsteknologier gjordes för att visa hur WCU kan använda SOA för att ta emot larminformation från externa system. Designförslaget utvärderades genom ett belastningstest, samt genom att jämföra dess konformitet med SOA. Belastningstestet visade att designförslaget kan processa inkommande larm i en hastighet av 2 ms per meddelande när klienten och servern körs på samma maskin. Resultatet av jämförelsen visade att WCU kan, med små modifieringar, implementera en SOA. Detta examensarbete har endast undersökt användandet av SOA vad gäller larminformation, men det finns även en klar tendens mot att integrera annan information ifrån olika system för att på så sätt ge användare av systemet kvalitativ information. Genom att ge framskjutna enheter lämplig information, när och där de behöver det, kan de bli bättre förberedda på att rädda liv och egendom, och samtidigt minska olycksrisken för allmänheten. Ett viktigt resultat från detta examensarbete är iakttagelsen att ett system som behöver integreras med många andra olika system kan bli bättre förberett genom att göra det SOAbaserat. För att ett system ska vara SOA-baserat krävs att det har ett gränssnitt baserat på plattformsoberoende protokoll mot andra system. System som WCU, som är baserade på Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), kan med lätthet lägga till ett sådant gränssnitt genom lämplig konfigurering av WCF.

Abstract:
The report analyses if some common problems can be avoided by using modern technology. As a reference system “Fartygsrapporteringssystemet” is used. It is an n-tier web application built with modern technology at time, 2003-2004. The aim is to examine whether ASP.Net MVC, Windows Communication Foundation, Workflow Foundation and SQL Server 2005 Service Broker can be used to create an n-tier web application which also communicate with other systems and facilitate automated testing. The report describes the construction of a prototype in which the presentation layer uses ASP.Net MVC to separate presentation and business logic. Communication with the business layer is done through the Windows Communication Foundation. Hard coded processes are broken out and dealt with by Workflow Foundation. Asynchronous communication with other systems is done by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Broker. The results of the analysis is that these techniques can be used to create a n-tier web application, but that ASP.Net MVC, which at present only available in a preview release, is not sufficiently developed yet.

Abstract:
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural paradigm that allows building of infrastructures for diverse application interaction and integration via services across different platforms, domains of technology and locations. SOA differs from traditional architectures, as it focuses on integrating capabilities that are distributed and implemented using a mixture of technologies. SOA provides a set of methodologies and strategies to accomplish interoperability and integration among different technology stacks.   Vattenfall is the fifth the largest energy supplier within Europe. Having operational systems in different countries brings the challenge of integrating all these distributed systems and this integration is a vital requirement for Vattenfall. The company is currently using Microsoft proprietary products to achieve integration across different technological platform, but requires a better integration infrastructure which is easily extensible and cost effective.   This thesis investigates the impact of implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using open source or proprietary software products within Vattenfall, from technological and financial perspectives. For this purpose, different technical and non-technical function blocks are identified which are essential for the implementation of SOA. These function blocks are mapped with SOA solutions provided by Red Hat’s JBoss Open Source SOA Platform and Microsoft’s SOA Platform. After mapping, a vendor specific technical and non-technical comparative analysis is carried out based on the function blocks, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor.   Finally, an evaluation scheme is purposed based on the technical comparative analysis of vendors, SOA solution cost and SOA competence required. The results from this evaluation scheme are used to recommend the best solution vendor for Vattenfall Nordic. Moreover, this evaluation scheme can also be used to facilitate management in arriving at an appropriate decision about implementation of SOA, while remaining within their requirements and constraints.

Abstract:
This report describes the development of a RESTful web service for mobile applications. The web service makes resources from an existing system called kompetensdatabasen ("the competence database") available. Kompetensdatabasen holds information about the capabilities of consultants and about assignments carried out at the IT consultant business Nethouse AB. The web service was developed according to the principles of REST and ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) which puts focus on making resources available. The resources are made available through the HTTP protocol and the methods associated with it. This means it was designed to use the same technologies as the world wide web. Following these principles when designing the system has been of great importance. To make sure that the service does not leak information to competing companies or violate the Personal Data Act some kind of solution for securing the service had to be implemented. A model for authentication was produced to make the system accessible only for employees of the company.
Rapporten beskriver utvecklandet av en RESTful web service för mobilapplikationer. Web servicen tillgängliggör resurser från ett befintligt system som kallas kompetensdatabasen. Kompetensdatabasen innehåller information om konsulters kompetenser och de uppdrag som utförts vid IT-konsultföretaget Nethouse AB. Web servicen utvecklades enligt principerna för REST och ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) vilket innebär ett fokus på att tillgängliggöra resurser. Resurserna görs nåbara genom HTTP-protokollet och dess metoder, det vill säga samma tekniker som används på webben. Stor vikt har lagts på att designa systemet enligt dessa principer. För att servicen inte skulle läcka information till konkurrenter eller bryta mot personuppgiftslagen behövde någon form av säkerhetslösning implementeras. En autentiseringsmodell togs fram för att göra systemet nåbart enbart för anställda vid företaget.

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural approach designed to provide scalable, resuable, and extensible software by dividing the software into self-contained services. Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) is an approach for data management that supports resolving ad hoc and complex multidimensional analytical queries. In this thesis, a case study for adapting these two technologies to an existing off-board train diagnostics system, called AddTrackEnterprise, is presented. The thesis also present a proposal for how to visualize the data contained in this system, such that it accommodates the OLAP approach. Abstract:
A framework of CAD/CAE integration system and its implementation for dockside container crane are proposed in this paper. First, the system framework based on web technology, software design pattern and service-oriented architecture (SOA) is introduced. Then, requirement input interfaces of Customer-Designer-Interaction (CDI) module are built based on ASP.NET multiple-layer Browser/Server (B/S) architecture, core design patterns and .NET WCF Services, and customers can provide specifications of the cranes to designers. Next, CAD and CAE modules are accomplished using multiple-layer architecture, and designers can parametrically create 3D models of the crane structures and conduct explicit dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on the designed crane structures. SOA based Design-Analysis-Integration (DAI) is developed to maintain consistence between CAD and CAE models by using .Net WCF Service. Last, system management functions such as user interaction, user account and file management are described. Since all the operations are conducted in Web and SOA context, customers and designers are able to participate in the design process at different geographical locations.
