Abstract:
In this manuscript, an intelligent and adaptive web page recommender system is proposed that provides personalized, global, and group mode of recommendations. The authors enhance the utility of a trie node for storing relevant web access statistics. The trie node enables dynamic clustering of users based on their evolving browsing patterns and allows a user to belong to multiple groups at each navigation step. The system takes cues from the field of crowd psychology to augment two parameters for modeling group behavior: uniformity and recommendation strength. The system continuously tracks the user's responses in order to adaptively switch between different recommendation-criteria in the group and personalized modes. The experimental results illustrate that the system achieved the maximum F1 measure of 83.28% on CTI dataset, which is a significant improvement over the 70% F1 measure reported by automatic clustering-based genetic algorithm, the prior web recommender system.

Abstract:
With an increasing number of web users, the data traffic generated by these users generates tremendous network traffic which takes a long time to connect with the web server. The main reason is, the distance between the client making requests and the servers responding to those requests. The use of the CDN (content delivery network) is one of the strategies for minimizing latency. But, it incurs additional cost. Alternatively, web caching and preloading are the most viable approaches to this issue. It is therefore decided to introduce a novel web caching strategy called optimized popularity-aware modified least frequently used (PMLFU) policy for information retrieval based on users' past access history and their trends analysis. It helps to enhance the proxy-driven web caching system by analyzing user access requests and caching the most popular web pages driven on their preferences. Experimental results show that the proposed systems can significantly reduce the user delay in accessing the web page. The performance of the proposed system is measured using IRCACHE data sets in real time.

Abstract:
In this paper we present and discuss the results of the evaluation of an Intelligent Computer Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) system that operates over the Web. In particular, we aimed at evaluating the system along three dimensions: a) the effect of the intelligent features of the system on the learning outcome of students, b) the system's ability to provide individualized support to students that leads to more effective use of the system and c) the general usability and friendliness of the ICALL. To achieve this, we conducted an empirical study, where we compared the intelligent system with a non-intelligent version of it. The results of the study revealed that the students of the Web-based ICALL had gained more knowledge of the domain and had been able to interact with the system more effectively as compared to the students that had used the non-intelligent version of the system. However, the students of the intelligent version of the system found it more difficult and they needed more time to get acquainted with the system in comparison to the students of the non-intelligent system.

Abstract:
The popularity of research on intelligent multimedia services and applications is motivated by the high demand of the convenient access and distribution of pervasive multimedia data. Facing with abundant multimedia resources but inefficient and rather old-fashioned keyword-based retrieval approaches, Intelligent Multimedia Systems (IMS) demand on (i) effective filtering algorithms for storage saving, computation reduction, and dynamic media delivery; and (ii) advanced learning methods to accurately identify target concepts, effectively search personalized media content, and enable media-type driven applications. Nowadays, the web based multimedia applications become more and more popular. Therefore, how to utilize the web technology into multimedia data management and retrieval becomes an important research topic. In this paper, the authors developed a web-based intelligent video retrieval system that integrates effective and efficient MCA-based filtering and subspace-based learning to facilitate end users to retrieve their desired semantic concepts. A web-based demo shows the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent multimedia system to provide relevant results of target semantic concepts retrieved from TRECVID video collections.

Numerous challenges, including limited resources, random mobility, and lack of standardized communication protocols, are currently preventing a myriad of heterogeneous devices to interact and provide Web services within the context of the Web of Things (WoT). We argue in this paper that these devices should be augmented with artificial intelligence techniques for an enhanced management of their resources and an easier construction of Web applications integrating Real World Things (RWT). To this end, we present a new classification of the WoT challenges and highlight the opportunities of embedding smartness into RWT. We also present our vision of Intelligent WoT by proposing a multiagent system-based architecture for intelligent Web service composition. In addition, we discuss the shift of the WoT toward a Social WoT (SWoT) and debate our ideas within two important scenarios, namely the Intelligent VANET-WoT and smart logistics.

Abstract:
Intelligent teaching system design has become an active research topic in education research community. How to manage the network teaching resource efficiently will have a direct impact on the teaching process and quality in the network teaching system. The semantic web can be a very promising platform for knowledge management systems in the intelligent teaching system design. In this paper, we have presented a framework for the network teaching resource knowledge base (NTRKB) based on semantic web, which includes network teaching resource knowledge representation, regular relation definition based on OWL, knowledge base modeling and construction based on RDF. The NTRKB can achieve knowledge sharing and intelligent retrieval for the network teaching resource, and these components will greatly benefit the development of the proposed intelligent teaching system.

Abstract:
Various Web systems and services currently provide a great deal of benefits to users, with Web interaction becoming increasingly important in research and business. Such Web interaction has been realized through related technologies as interaction design, interactive information retrieval, interactive intelligent systems, personalization, user interfaces and interactive machine learning. However, each study and development in such different fields has been done independently, which might discourage us from studying Web interaction from an unified view of human-system interaction and making Web interaction more intelligent by applying AI and computational intelligence. Guest Editors (Seiji Yamada, Tsuyoshi Murata, and Yasufumi Takama) organized an Intelligent Web Interaction Workshop 2009 (IWIf09) in Milano, Italy, last year to bring together researchers in diversified fields including Web systems, AI, computational intelligence, humancomputer interaction and user interfaces. Held jointly with 2009 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI-2009), IWIf09 produced 14 outstanding papers - an acceptance rate of 50%, and active discussions among speakers and participants. A subsequent workshop Intelligent Web Interaction Workshop 2010 (IWIf10) will be held in Toronto, Canada in this September. This special issue presents intelligent Web interaction as a new and promising research field. Speakers selected from among those at IWIf09 were encouraged to submit papers for this issue. The submissions were then reviewed for relevance, originality, significance and presentation based on JACIII review criteria. This special issue consists of five papers which describe excellent studies on Web interface, Web systems, Web credibility, constrained clustering for interactive Web application and graph analysis on the Web. The acceptance rate was 56%. All papers introduce promising approaches and interesting results that readers will find inspiring. We strongly believe intelligent Web interaction has tremendous potential as a new, active field of research, and we hope this issue will motivate researchers to expand studies on intelligent Web interaction.

Abstract:
In this Internet era, with ever-increasing interactions among participants, the size of the data is increasing so rapidly such that the information available to us in the near future is going to be unpredictable. Modeling and visualizing such data are one of the challenging tasks in the data analytics field. Therefore, business intelligence is the way in which a company can use data to improve business and operational efficiency whereas data analytics involves improving ways of making intelligence out of that data before acting on it. Thus, the proposed work focuses on prevailing challenges in data analytics and its application on social media like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, e-commerce, e-service and so on. Among all of the possible interactions, e-commerce, e-education, and e-services have been identified as important domains for analytics techniques. So, it focuses on machine learning technique in improving practice and research in such e-X domains. Empirical analysis is done to show the performance of proposed system using real-time datasets.

Abstract:
An intelligent roll is a mechatronic system consisting of a roll in a web handling machine that also is used as a transducer for sensing cross-machine tension or linear load. The intelligent roll has electret film force sensors mounted on it in a helical arrangement. The sensors measure the force applied by the material being produced, such as a paper web, and thus provide information about the behavior and quality of the product. In addition to the force sensors, the intelligent roll system has an electronic signal processing module on the roll end and a digital radio link to transmit the data from the rotating roll. The receiver is connected to an automation network. An intelligent roll can be used to measure the tension profile online without separate scanning devices. An intelligent roll used as a reel or winder drum enables online measurement of linear load profiles during reeling and winding. Intelligent roll technology also enables temporary process and runnability analysis measurements by using tape-mounted sensors. Problems such as loose web edges, off-machine coater web shifting, winding problems, and reeling defects have been solved with these measurements. This paper describes the technology and presents three examples of its application to improve process runnability.

Abstract:
Building on three theoretical paradigms (student model, ICAI model, and multi-dimension education immune agent), some intelligent techniques are proposed and designed to teach Fuzzy Mathematics and Science of Artificial Immune System in a web-based way. The goal of the teaching methodology is a new learning, which is interactive, sharing, open, cooperative, and autonomous. The great difference between traditional approaches for teaching such knowledge and the new approach in this paper is the centre of teaching. The traditional teaching is centered with teachers but the new teaching is centered with students. The teaching system for Fuzzy Mathematics and Science of Artificial Immune System is a virtual classroom based on the web, and the two courses are designed as web-based courses. Moreover, for Science of Artificial Immune System, the web-based course system is a typical artificial immune system in fact, and students can learn more real knowledge from the web-based course immune system.

Abstract:
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the need for a better health care facility is highlighted more than ever. Besides physical health, mental health conditions have become a significant concern. Unfortunately, there are few opportunities for people to receive mental health care. There are inadequate facilities for seeking mental health support even in big cities, let alone remote areas. This paper presents the structure and implementation procedures for a mental health support system combining technology and professionals. The system is a web platform where mental health seekers can register and use functionalities like NLP-based chatbot for personality assessment, chatting with like-minded people, and one-to-one video conferencing with a mental health professional. The video calling feature of the system has emotion detection capabilities using computer vision. The system also includes downloadable prescription facilities and a payment gateway for secure transactions. From a technological aspect, the conversational NLP-based chatbot and computer vision-powered video calling are the system’s most important features. The system has a documentation facility to analyze the mental health condition over time. The web platform is built using React.js for the frontend and Express.js for the backend. MongoDB is used as the database of the platform. The NLP chatbot is built on a three-layered deep neural network model that is programmed in the Python language and uses the NLTK, TensorFlow, and Keras sequential API. Video conference is one of the most important features of the platform. To create the video calling feature, Express.js, Socket.io, and Socket.io-client have been used. The emotion detection feature is implemented on video conferences using computer vision, Haar Cascade, and TensorFlow. All the implemented features are tested and work fine. The targeted users for the platform are teenagers, youth, and the middle-aged population. Mental health-seeking is still considered taboo in some societies today. Apart from basic established facilities, this social dilemma of undergoing treatment for mental health is causing severe damage to individuals. A solution to this problem can be a remote platform for mental health support. With this goal in mind, this system is designed to provide mental health support to people remotely from anywhere worldwide.
