Abstract:
Communication Research field has an extraordinary growth pattern, indeed bigger than other research fields. In order to extract knowledge from such amount, intelligent techniques are needed. In such a way, using bibliometric techniques, the evolution of the conceptual, social and intellectual aspects of this research field could be analysed, and hence, understood. Although the communication research field has been widely analysed using bibliometric techniques and science mapping tools, a conceptual analysis of the whole communication research field is still needed. Therefore, this article introduces the first science mapping analysis in the communication research field based on the Web of Science Subject Category "Communication," showing its conceptual structure and scientific evolution. SciMAT, a bibliometric science mapping software tool based on co-word analysis and h-index, is applied using a sample of 33.627 research documents from 1980 to 2013 published in 74 main communication journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports of the Web of Science. The results show that research conducted in the communication research is concentrated on the following sixteen disconnected thematic areas: “children”, “psychological aspects”, “news”, “audience”, “surveys”, “advertising”, “health”, “relationship”, “gender”, “discourse”, “telephone communication”, “public relation”, “telecommunications”, “public opinion”, “activism” and “internet”. These areas have progressively disconnected among them, which drives to a Communication field relatively fragmented.

Abstract:
This article aims to review and analyze the Topic of Accounting Information Systems published in the Web of Science database. This research uses the Bibliometric method through Vos Viewer and Biblioshiny to show information about trend set, frequency of article production, frequency of authors, and some other information. The results showed that SIA's research, which was first published in the Web of Science database, was recorded in 1975 and reached its peak in 2011. However, the peak of SIA's article production in 2011 was due to a symposium held in China. However, after that, SIA's article production continued to decline and in the 2012-2021 period tends to increase. Other results show that there are no researchers who focus on producing SIA research articles consistently, this is evidenced by the authors who published the most SIA articles, only 4 articles. This low publication proves that collaboration between SIA researchers is lacking so that many articles are single author status.

Abstract:
Buying behavior has occurred for a long time, but now impulse buying has shifted to online platforms because of the convenience it offers. This research aims to determine the development of impulse buying publications carried out on online platforms. Researchers used quantitative methods with bibliometric analysis. Data was obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database using the keywords impulse buying and online based on topic. Then the search results are exported in BibTex format and analyzed using the biblioshiny web interface from R Studio software. The research results obtained 234 documents in the limited period of 2014-2023 from two types of documents, articles and conference papers. The analysis results show that impulse buying publications on online platforms are growing worldwide and are related to other fields, not only economics. The significant development is mainly from authors and countries that have the densest population because impulse buying online affects the high level of consumption in these countries.

Full text
Abstract:
The World Wide Web has had a significant impact on basic operational economical components in global information rich civilizations. This impact is forcing organizations to provide justification for security from a business case perspective and to focus on security from a web application development environment perspective. This increased focus on security was the basis of a business case discussion and led to the acquisition of empirical evidence gathered from a high level Web survey and more detailed industry surveys to analyse security in the Web application development environment. Along with this information, a collection of evidence from relevant literature was also gathered. Individual aspects of the data gathered in the previously mentioned activities contributed to the proposal of the Essential Elements (EE) and the Security Criteria for Web Application Development (SCWAD). The Essential Elements present the idea that there are essential, basic organizational elements that need to be identified, defined and addressed before examining security aspects of a Web Engineering Development process. The Security Criteria for Web Application Development identifies criteria that need to be addressed by a secure Web Engineering process. Both the EE and SCWAD are presented in detail along with relevant justification of these two elements to Web Engineering. SCWAD is utilized as a framework to evaluate the security of a representative selection of recognized software engineering processes used in Web Engineering application development. The software engineering processes appraised by SCWAD include: the Waterfall Model, the Unified Software Development Process (USD), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM) and eXtreme Programming (XP). SCWAD is also used to assess existing security methodologies which are comprised of the Orion Strategy; Survivable / Viable IS approaches; Comprehensive Lightweight Application Security Process (CLASP) and Microsoft’s Trust Worthy Computing Security Development Lifecycle. The synthesis of information provided by both the EE and SCWAD were used to develop the Web Engineering Security (WES) methodology. WES is a proactive, flexible, process neutral security methodology with customizable components that is based on empirical evidence and used to explicitly integrate security throughout an organization’s chosen application development process. In order to evaluate the practical application of the EE, SCWAD and the WES methodology, two case studies were conducted during the course of this research. The first case study describes the application of both the EE and SCWAD to the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery’s Online Photo Library (HOPL) Internet application project. The second case study presents the commercial implementation of the WES methodology within a Global Fortune 500 financial service sector organization. The assessment of the WES methodology within the organization consisted of an initial survey establishing current security practices, a follow-up survey after changes were implemented and an overall analysis of the security conditions assigned to projects throughout the life of the case study.

Full text
Abstract:
<p>There is a great deal of interest burgeoning in the intellectual community regarding Web Services and their usage. Many writers have tried to bring awareness about some unconceived threats lurking behind the enticing Web Services. Threats due to Web Services are on an all time high giving an alarming knock to the Web Services security community. This led to the, Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) made some constraints mandatory in order to standardize message security and these constraints and specifications are presented through a document called WS Security -2004. This work is an attempt to check the support offered by various Web Services Tools available currently. It introduces the reader to Web Services and presents an overview of how far some of the tools have reached in order to make the Web Services environment safe, secure and robust to meet the current day’s requirements. A quantitative approach was taken to investigate the support offered by servers like BEA, Apache Axis etc. The conclusions drawn show that most of the tools meet the imposed standards but a lot more is expected from the web community and these tools; if at all the visions about safe and secure Web Services are to be realized.</p>

Bianco, Joseph. "Web Information System(WIS): Information Delivery Through Web Browsers." NSUWorks, 2000. http://nsuworks.nova.edu/gscis_etd/412.

Full text
Abstract:
The Web Information System (WIS) is a new type of Web browser capable of retrieving and displaying the physical attributes (retrieval time, age, size) of a digital document. In addition, the WIS can display the status of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) links using an interface that is easy to use and interpret. The WIS also has the ability to dynamically update HTML links, thereby informing the user regarding the status of the information. The first generation of World Web browsers allowed for the retrieval and rendering of HTML documents for reading and printing. These browsers also provided basic management of HTML links, which are used to point to often-used information. Unfortunately, HTML links are static in nature -- other than a locator for information, an HTML link provides no other useful data. Because of the elusive characteristics of electronic information, document availability, document size (page length), and absolute age of the information can only be assessed after retrieval. WIS addresses the shortcomings of the Web by using a different approach to delivering digital information within a Web browser. By attributing the physical parameters of printed documentation such as retrieval time, age, and size to digital information, the WIS makes using online information easier and more productive than the current method.

Abstract:
Our increasing ability to construct large and complex computer and information systems suggests that the classical manner in which such systems are understood and architected is inappropriate for the open and unstructured manner in which they are often used. With the appearance of mathematically complex and, more importantly, high scale, non-deterministic systems, such as the World Wide Web, there is a need to understand, construct and maintain systems in a world where their assembly and use may not be precisely predicted. In Addition, few have thus far attempted to study such Web-scale systems holistically so as to understand the implications of non-programmable characteristics, like emergence and evolution – a matter of particular relevance in the new field of Web Science. This collection of prior published works and their associated commentary hence brings together a number of themes focused on Web Science and its broader application in systems and software engineering. It primarily rests on materials presented in the book The Web’s Awake, first published in April 2007.

Abstract:
<p> The objective of this thesis was to explore the topic of scalable web development, and it answered the question, &ldquo; How do you scale a website to handle more traffic at peak times without wasting resources?&rdquo; This is important research to any web company that has issues with rising costs as demand for their website increases. It would be wise for every online business to be prepared for more web traffic, before it occurs, without spending the budget of a multi-million user web company in low traffic periods. The last thing you want is an error as your customer base starts to arrive, giving them a bad experience for their first impressions, which would result in lost revenue.</p><p> Scalable software development architectures, including microservices, big data, and Kubernetes were studied, in addition to similar web service companies including Facebook, Twitter, and Match.com. A scalable architecture was designed for a social media web service, MeAndYou, using the big data configuration with a shared Aurora database, which was configured using an auto-scaling group attached to a load balancer in Amazon Web Services (AWS). It was tested using a custom threaded Selenium-based Python script that applied simulated user load to the servers. As the load was applied, AWS added more Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances running a virtual disk image of the web server. After the load was removed, the instances were terminated automatically by AWS to save costs.</p><p> Countless steps were taken to make the web service bigger and more scalable than it originally was, before testing, including adding more fields to user profiles, adding more search types, and separating the layers of code into different Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) files in the front-end. A version control system was configured on the servers using GitHub and rsync. The systems architecture designed suggests the Match Engine should use a stream processing message queue, which would allow the system to factor searches one at a time as they are created, with horizontal scaling capabilities, rather than grabbing the entire database and storing it in memory. The backend Match Engine was also tested for accuracy using Structured Query Language (SQL) injection, which determined how the match algorithm should be improved in the future.</p><p>

Abstract:
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 113-116).<br>The growth of the World Wide Web has in large part been made possible by the technologies that power it. These are the Web servers and Web browsers that many take for granted. Each has evolved to support the changing needs of users of the WWW from simple static text to highly interactive and dynamic multimedia. The Web servers, in particular, have evolved into a spectrum of different technologies to support what are now known as Web applications. These are usually installed and accessed through a Web server. Security is a problem in Web server environments and therefore the Web servers are usually run as an un-privileged user. Performance is another problem as some of these technologies require re-initialization of the execution environment with every subsequent request. These security and performance shortcomings have been dealt with by numerous Web application technologies.

Abstract:
Abstract The recent European legislation emphasizes the importance of enabling people with disabilities to have access to online information and services of public sector bodies. To this regard, automatic evaluation and monitoring of Web accessibility can play a key role for various stakeholders involved in creating and maintaining over time accessible products. In this paper we present the results of elicitation activities that we carried out in a European project to collect experience and feedback from Web commissioners, developers and content authors of websites and web applications. The purpose was to understand their current practices in addressing accessibility issues, identify the barriers they encounter when exploiting automatic support in ensuring the accessibility of Web resources, and receive indications about what functionalities they would like to exploit in order to better manage accessibility evaluation and monitoring.

Abstract:
AbstractAs part of the project Death and Burial Data: Ireland 1864–1922 (DBDIrl), a web application was created in DIME, a low-code web application development environment. DIME is based on the popular IDE Eclipse and utilizes three distinct graphical model types (data model, process model and GUI model) as Domain Specific Language (DSL). Web applications are defined by means of these models in the DIME integrated modelling environment in a simple way, and these models are used to generate the web application code that is then deployed and made available to the users. This paper provides an overview of how we use a web application created in DIME, a low-code application development tool to establish interoperability between Irish historical civil registration of death data and Irish cross-sectional decennial census data from 1901 and 1911. The former data collections are complex and require manual interventions like transcription and considerable cleaning to render them machine readable, the latter are fully transcribed. Here we present a case study concerning the analysis of deaths in old age in Dublin City and how they correlate with census returns. We then turn our attention to a use case of marital status and the algorithmic problems caused by irregular replies in census data. Our objective was to test how DIME could replicate the decisions taken by domain experts using old age and marital status as the primary linkage criteria.

Abstract:
AbstractEducational technology has advanced considerably over the past two decades, yet media accessibility and inclusion still require significant improvement. These areas remain major barriers for many students with disabilities. This descriptive systematic review aims to provide an overview of current research, offering a concise analysis of key concepts related to media accessibility and inclusivity in education. The review examines the frequency and prominence of these themes in research. Recognized journals from the Web of Science (WoS) database were searched without a specified timeframe, resulting in the critical analysis of 14 review articles published between 1998 and 2023. The findings reveal a limited state of the art in this area, highlighting the need for further research and development. An in-depth analysis indicates that themes of inclusivity and accessibility appear with varying frequency, influenced by several factors. These factors include regulatory standards, the direct impact on disabled learners, the emergence of new technologies, and the historical prominence of inclusivity in research literature and the interdisciplinary nature of accessibility.

AbstractPodcasts are becoming an increasingly popular source of information. However, they often rely on the topical knowledge of the listener in order for them to be fully understood. We describe an investigation into methods to augment the contents of podcasts with related information from the Web. We seek to identify webpages related to segments within a podcast. NLP techniques are used to analyze audio podcast transcripts and link these to related content. We propose and examine 10 methods for automatically generating search queries from transcript segments, which are then used to search for related content on the web. The relevance of retrieved webpages to retrieved content is evaluated using crowdsourcing via Amazon Mechanical Turk. Extracting key phrases directly from the podcasts using YAKE was the most successful approach with more than 90% returned pages assessed as relevant, with precision at rank 1 and rank 3 above 0.9.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose. The aim of this paper is to present a systematic review of studies conducted on mobile-assisted task-based learning between 2013 to 2022. The primary objectives of the review are to elicit educational and learning contexts, research areas and foci, research trends, methodologies, data collection techniques, mobile technology used, learning outcomes, and issues in mobile-assisted task-based learning. Background. Conventional task-based learning has evolved over the last decade with numerous researchers incorporating various mobile technologies and devices to enhance the task-based approach. This paper presents a systematic review of task-based learning, specifically with the adoption of the mobile-assisted method in delivering tasks. Methodology. To provide viable discussions and maintain the accuracy of the review, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol items were adhered to. The papers for review were sourced from ISI Web of Science within the last decade from 2013 to 2022. The outcome of screening based on the inclusive and exclusive criteria as well as from the backward search resulted in 16 papers out of 276 papers that were eventually reviewed and analyzed. Contribution. This study is of significant value, especially during the post-pandemic period, as mobile task-based learning provides for flexibility and portability, and to date, no systematic reviews have been conducted specifically on mobile-assisted task-based learning in the last decade. This review looked at the study characteristics, educational and learning contexts, research areas and research foci, research trends, methodologies, data collection techniques, mobile technology used, learning outcomes, and issues in the papers on mobile-assisted task-based learning. In addition to attributing to the existing body of knowledge, this paper provides insights for researchers, educators, as well as mobile technology developers for consideration. Findings. Major findings are that all papers are on language learning, with English as a foreign language being the most frequently researched area, and most of the studies are conducted in higher education contexts. Informal learning has become a critical learning setting, and language proficiency and participant perceptions are the two major foci. In addition, no studies have been found to combine mobile learning and social media platforms together to promote language acquisition. Recommendations for Practitioners. This systematic review provides practitioners with an overview of mobile technologies that have been found to be effective in the task-based approach for different educational levels and language skills. These effective mobile technologies could be considered for adoption in their respective contexts. Recommendations for Researchers. For researchers, the time frame for a systematic review could be expanded to increase the number of papers for review. In addition, to ensure the comprehensiveness of findings, big data analysis software could be employed to analyze the research foci, research trends, and research shifts. Additional databases could be added for more extensive review. Impact on Society. The research findings of this paper can provide benefits for researchers, educators, and mobile technology developers for them to collaboratively promote the development of mobile-assisted task-based learning. Future Research. Future researchers could conduct in-depth empirical studies on mobile seamless learning, research with tasks that are designed based on learners’ needs analysis and explore cognitive load as well as learning anxiety which are not extensively researched.

Abstract:
This ongoing study investigates the viability of distinguishing articles in questionable journals (QJs) from those in non-QJs on the basis of quantitative indicators typically associated with quality, and what can be deduced about the quality of articles in QJs based on the differences observed. I contrast the length of abstracts and full-texts, prevalence of spelling errors, text readability, number of references and citations, and other characteristics of 1,714 articles from 31 QJs, 1,691 articles from 16 journals indexed in Web of Science (WoS), and 1,900 articles from 45 non-WoS/non-QJs, all in the field of psychology. Initial results indicate that there are differences between QJs and non-QJ samples, however these are relatively small, perhaps indicating that QJs may not substantially differ from non-QJs on these quantitative indicators of quality. However, I intend to use additional analyses to further explore any potential differences.

In recent years, the interest in research concerning gamification in higher education (GHE) has grown considerably. Although a simple search in Web of Science (WoS) return more than 4000 papers on gamification, there are very few studies based on a bibliometric analysis. Therefore, a thorough evaluation of this field and its challenges is highly necessary and can help us better understand the diversity of gamification approaches, the ways in which various scholars, countries, institutions or universities reacted through research and scientific publications to the study of GHE space. Using a bibliometric approach, we analyzed 1029 papers on GHE, indexed by WoS. In addition to the bibliometric indicators offered by WoS, we used the VosViewer software in order to visualize the intellectual structure, conceptual dynamics, diffusion of knowledge, development over time, research trends (identifying the fast growing / popular topical areas), core authors, top journals, leading countries and institutions, the impact of collaboration, etc. The main findings increased our understanding of the use of GHE: we identified vital research, landmark studies in the development of the field, critical past contributions, emerging trends and potentially transformative ideas. In recent years, the interest in research concerning gamification in higher education (GHE) has grown considerably. Abstract:

Abstract:
International research mobility is becoming increasingly important for early-career researchers as a way to demonstrate their ambition and excellence. It can offer access to crucial research infrastructure and help expand international collaboration networks. However, the emphasis on mobility may worsen existing disparities in career outcomes, particularly for women who often face greater obstacles in moving abroad compared to men. In this study, we utilize publication metadata from Clarivate's Web of Science (WoS) to investigates whether returns to mobility are unevenly distributed between gender and the impact of any observed gender-based disparities on scientific career advancement. Preliminary results explore the gender gap in the likelihood of moving internationally, while the analysis on the returns to mobility is currently being performed by the authors.

Abstract:
It is in the national interest of small countries such as Serbia to have as many journals in WoS as possible. WoS indexing boosts visibility and internationality and rises journals impact and quality. However, once they reach WoS and stabilize their position, some local journals turn to profit-making strategies, introducing or significantly increasing authors' fees (APCs), which usually results in a larger influx of foreign authors who can afford to pay such fees. Consequently, domestic authors practically lose the space to publish in their traditional platforms. Here, we discuss the question if such journals should continue to enjoy the support from the national public R&amp;D budget entitled to supporting local science.

Abstract:
The modern development of science and technology has provided high quantity of information. This information must be systemized and classified. For taxonomization of educational materials, it was proposed to use existing graph-generators and graph-visualizers of the TODOS IT platform. A separate aspect of the TODOS IT platform is the possibility of using a centralized web-oriented learning environment. Creation of the system and transdisciplinary knowledge is a problem of modern education, which can be solved by creating a centralized web-oriented educational environment. Using this approach is an important part of the learning process. Such a centralized web-oriented environment based on the ontological approach involves filling, adaptive educational services with information resources that reflect the conceptual system of a particular discipline. One of the systems providing not only collection of information but include its systemizing is centralized web-oriented educational environment based on Ontology4 system. Ontology 4 use elements of the TODOS. The paper presents specific developments of one centralized web-oriented educational environment can be used to teach different subjects such as biology, chemistry, Ukrainian language and literature, using the STEM approach.

Abstract:
It is shown that the calculation of scientometric indicators of the scientist and also the scientific journal continues to be an actual problem nowadays. It is revealed that the leading scientometric databases have the capabilities of automated metadata collection from the scientific journal website by the use of specialized electronic document management systems, in particular Open Journal Systems. It is established that Open Journal Systems successfully exports metadata about an article from scientific journals to scientometric databases Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. However, there is no standard method of export from Open Journal Systems to such scientometric databases as the Russian Science Citation Index and Index Copernicus, which determined the need for research. The aim of the study is to develop the plug-in to the Open Journal Systems for the export of data from this system to scientometric database Russian Science Citation Index. As a result of the study, an infological model for exporting metadata from Open Journal Systems to the Russian Science Citation Index was proposed. The SirenExpo plug-in was developed to export data from Open Journal Systems to the Russian Science Citation Index by the use of the Articulus release preparation system.
