Subsequently, researchers across the globe have reported incidences of the reaction with different aggregates in their respective countries. Through research, the reaction has been categorised into three main classes depending on the type of aggregate used. Alkali-silica reaction, ASR, being one of those classes, is the most common one and is the primary concern in the local concrete ind

The National Department of Environmental Affairs, Fisheries and Forestry in South Africa has decided to mainstream EbA into its climate response actions, developing a strategy and set of guidelines to steer implementation. However, little work has been done to grasp different actors' perspectives and understandings of EbA, its implementation and how to link EbA to existing related projects and programmes t

At that time the area was characterised by numerous temporary or seasonal wetlands that filled and dried in concert with the seasons. Since Miss Stephen's observations, the number of seasonal wetlands on the Cape Flats has dwindled alarmingly and very few remain. This dissertation attempts to account for this and provide guidance for the management of the remaining seasonal wetlands. The dissertation sho

It has imbedded itself into popular culture, but studies show that the general public has, at best, only a vague understanding of what cloning entails. Alternatively, their perception has been skewed by that very same popular culture. However, cloning is a complex scientific subject that has considerable ethical implications. It is the kind of topic that people in a deliberate democracy should know about. The media play an important role in the education

As this approach has been increasingly incorporated into healthcare systems over recent years, most children with disabilities are now able to remain at home as opposed to living in institutions or group homes. Many parents have thus been forced to adopt the role of a primary caregiver for their child that has been diagnosed with a disability or chronic condition. This study aimed to inves
