Abstract:
This study aims to determine the influence of three different coolant delivery methods, namely dry machining, Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL), and wet machining. This is quantitative research with the use of experimental methods. Data were collected through observation. Data analysis techniques being used was descriptive statistics. In MQL methods, the use of coolant is minimized by mixing it with high-pressurized air. It is shown from the obtained data that the use of MQL methods is not as good as the wet machining. The hardness distribution of wet machining method is lower than the MQL. T

In this paper, the attempt was made to study dry WEDG (Wire Electrical Discharge Grinding), the differences between dry WEDG and wet WEDG, especially the rods appearance and material removal speed and surface roughness were studied experimentally, the results are as follow: (1) The shape especially the symmetry of the rods fabricated with WEDG using kerosene as dielectric fluid is better than that of dry WEDG only using pure air as dielectric. (2) The material removal speed is obviously higher in wet WEDG than that in dry WEDG. (3) The surface roughness of the rods fabricated with wet WEDG is

Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is a thermal process in which the workpiece and the wire (tool) experience an intense local heating in the discharge channel. The high power density results in the erosion of a part of the material from both electrodes by local melting and vaporization. Whilst good surface finish and high material removal rate of the workpiece is a major requirement, the effect of EDM machining factors on these requirements cannot be overlooked. This study investigate the effect of two different machining methods of dry and wet WEDM process as well as the effect of on

Aluminum alloy is a widely used material which contributes greatly in numerous engineering applications. Aluminum alloy can be considered as having low strength and it is less likely to experience tooling difficulty. However, the complexity of machining aluminum alloy is related to its adhesive behavior, which capable to impede the machining operations where build-up-edge can be observed easily to occur. Since machining process generates a lot of energy due to friction and adhesive contact between tool and material, it is suggested to apply wet cutting method during machining of aluminum alloy

The rapid wear rate of cutting tools and cutting forces expend due to high cutting temperature is a critical problem to be solved in high-speed machining process, milling.
