This research is centred on the design, fabrication, and control of a pneumatic soft robot. The principal objective is to develop a modular soft robot featuring multiple segments, each one with three degrees of freedom. This yields a tubular structure with five independent degrees of freedom, enabling motion across three spatial dimensions. Phy

Background/Objectives: Jaw deformities affect not only facial aesthetics but also various oral functions. While previous studies have demonstrated that mandibular prognathism (MP) alters masticatory-induced brain blood flow (BBF), the temporal characteristics of these hemodynamic changes have remained unclear. In this cross-sectional observational study, we investigated the following two specific objectives: (1) whether food hardness affects not only the magnitude but also the temporal patterns of BBF changes during mastication and (2) how malocclusion is associated with these temporal hemodyn

The creep curve of soft rock only shows decay and constant creep law within 2h under 10°C and at 2.5MPa. However under 60°C and at low 0.25MPa, the creep law shows acceleration within 2h and the slope of the stress-strain curve is increasing. While the

New types of magneto-rheological fluids are increasingly being developed lately, but there is a dearth of information on the performance of commonly used rheological models for emerging MRFs such as carbonyl-iron particles (CIP) paraffin-oil-based MRF. This work aims to investigate the performance of some rheological models for application in predicting shear stress and yield strength in an emerging MRF suitable for flow-mode applications. CIP, low viscosity paraffin oil, and lithium grease were used as magnetic particles, carrier fluid, and additives, respectively, to prepare the MRF. Based o

AimsThe histological diagnosis of soft tissue tumours (STTs) can be difficult, sometimes requiring a combination of morphology, immunophenotype and ancillary molecular tests. Many STTs are associated with characteristic genetic aberrations that can be assessed using fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH), reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) or mutational analysis. We have previously assessed the practicality and sensitivity of using these modalities as part of the routine diagnosis of STT in paraffin-embedded material and now revisit the subject in light of further experience in this field.M
