Abstract:
Abstract In the last few years, collaborating with representatives of indigenous communities became an important topic for European ethnographic museums. The Weltmuseum Wien (former Museum of Ethnology Vienna, Austria) adheres to this form of sharing cultural heritage. Its Brazilian collection offers rich opportunities to back up Amazonian cultures in their struggle for cultural survival. However, to establish collaborative work in a European museum on a sustained basis is still a difficult endeavor. The article will discuss the projects which have been realized during the past five years with several groups from Amazonia, such as the Warí, Kanoé, Makushí, Shipibo and Sateré-Mawé. Projects were carried out in Austria, Brazil, and Guyana and ranged from short visit to longer periods of co-curating an exhibition. As for the Museum, results are documented in the collection, in two exhibitions and in the accompanying catalogues. It is less clear what the indigenous communities might take away from such collaborations. It will be argued that museum collaborations can help establish a new contact zone, ‘indoors’ and ‘outdoors’, in which members of heritage communities are able to break through the silence in the old contact zone and finally make their own voices heard.

Abstract:
The Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien is one of the largest fine arts collections worldwide, comprising the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Austrian Theater Museum, the Museum of Ethnology, all placed in Vienna, and Schlo&szlig; Ambras in Tirol. We present results from up to 10 years of insect pest monitoring in different collections and the implementation of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) concept. The Kunsthistorisches Museum was the first museum in Vienna to introduce such a concept. We also present specific insect pest problems such as a biscuit beetle (<em>Stegobium paniceum</em>) infestation of paintings lined with starch paste backings (linings) or the webbing clothes moth (<em>Tineola bisselliella</em>) infestation at the Museum of Carriages, both repeatedly occurring problems in the museum. With the help of the insect pest monitoring programs, these and other problems were found and the infested objects treated, usually with anoxia (nitrogen).

Abstract:
15th Museum Rochus The idea of establishing a museum in Uherske Hradiste is very important and meaningful because it helps to maintain and present a significant part of the cultural heritage Uherské Hradiště. This region is marked by diversity, the wealth of types and forms of the original rural architecture, which is more than other areas of traditional cultural heritage at risk of extinction, and virtually disappearing from our villages from day to day. Guarantee professional training concept museum with an ethnographic exhibition Rochus took Slovacke Museum in Uherske Hradiste supporting major project partner Holding Synot. Rochus museum will consist of three interrelated parts. The first, called Marathi Justice (16) at the beginning Vinohradská street (11), becoming a sort of gateway to the entire complex. To him, already in the park itself Rochus, will build the second area designed into the village area of návesního uherskohradišťského Dolňácka. Focus, for example, running a village pub offering traditional cuisine and local culinary specialties, selection of traditional handicrafts shop items held various production and presentation activities - demonstrations of traditional crafts, craft workshops, day and residential courses handicraft techniques, demonstrations of traditional customs and traditions, holding folklore programs, live demonstrations and other farming activities. On this part of the museum is likely to continue Environmental Center (17). 16th Environmental Center in accommodation of facilities Center will focus on education of visitors, education and activities for families with children. The idea is considering a wider range of options, from the information center Natura 2000 (2) with the necessary background to the construction of new buildings ecological center. Intentions Museum (15), education and environmental activities are well supplemented, especially in the teaching of crafts and demonstrations, cultivation and processing of crops, using traditional materials and technologies, but also for leisure and federal activities, etc. The center can be considered as saving buildings heating energy such as biomass. The building envicentra will build residential facilities for leisure activities, programs, and environmental education courses, including green with the rest of the site for visitors.

Huber, Leonhard. "Wunderkammer Cyberspace? Gestaltung und Rolle digitaler Museumsinformationssysteme illustriert anhand der medien.matrix am Technischen Museum Wien." Thesis, 2002. http://eprints.rclis.org/6419/1/huber_wunderkammer.pdf.

Abstract:
This thesis aims to define and evaluate the role and design of digital information systems in museums. In order to do this, the study addresses the following topic areas: the tasks of museums as institutions for the public, the conception of digital information systems and the interdependencies between content structure and graphic design, illustrated by a practical example. Experiences made by European museums in digital media projects have served as a starting point. The report investigates the role of digital media as information mediators by looking at Human Computer Interaction and compares different models and structures used for computer-based information provision. In a second part, the thesis outlines the practical use of several theoretical aspects mentioned by presenting the design and evaluation approach carried out during the conception of the medien.matrix, a digital visitor information system at the Vienna Museum of Technology. The most significant results of the investigation can be summarized as follows: Museums primarily have an educational task to fulfill. Virtual information spaces cannot replace real exhibitions but can rather complement them, the only exception being virtual (online) museums, which lack physical objects. A graphic design can only provide didactic support if the content basis is clearly structured. The thesis concludes with some thoughts about the resources and factors which are vital for a future knowledge society.

Abstract:
The pilot project LiviaAI examines the use of artificial intelligence to identify connections between objects from three Viennese museums (Wien Museum, Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Belvedere Museum Wien). In the first project phase, collection metadata and their creation were examined in order to derive specifications for an AI model for similarity determination. In the current phase of the project, a model that uses the metadata of a selected collection as input to learn cross-collection visual representations of similarity is being developed. The goal is to evaluate the model in terms of its practical utility for curators and museum visitors and to gain insights into AI decision-making mechanisms.

Abstract:
The paper describes and analyzes the service-learning experiences of various engineering students in two science and technology museums, over the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. The experience was based on the design and implementation of education and outreach activities and scaffolding material was provided. Student learning was significant not only in terms of content but also in terms of generic and transversal competencies. In addition, this service-learning model shows a good potential to address some of the problems in engineering today, such as the declining interest in engineering among school students. Thus, it can be a win-win model for all the agents involved: museums, university, the student himself and society in general.

Abstract:
This paper presents a systematic mapping study on the application of educational robotics in non-formal educational settings such as science clubs, museums, libraries, extracurricular activities, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The aim of this study is to explore the potential and challenges of educational robotics in these settings, specifically in relation to teaching and learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) domains. A methodological approach was employed, involving the selection of papers based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Our findings indicate that educational robotics not only fosters computational thinking, problemsolving, creativity, and collaborative skills but also enhances student motivation and self-efficacy. Furthermore, we identify various challenges associated with the implementation of educational robotics in non-formal settings. These insights may serve as a foundation for future research and pedagogical practices in the field.

Abstract:
From the start of the uprising in summer 1941, the Communist Party of Yugoslavia conceived of the People’s Liberation Struggle in BosniaHerzegovina as a specifically Bosnian-Herzegovinian liberation struggle, waged under Bosnian-patriotic slogans. Nevertheless, the status of BosniaHerzegovina within the future Yugoslav state was not definitely resolved until November 1943. This period – autumn 1943 – witnessed the mass influx of Muslim Bosniaks into the People’s Liberation Movement, definitely transforming it from a movement that was overwhelmingly ethnic-Serb in composition into one that had a large Muslim Bosniak component as well. A decisive catalyst for the mass entry of Muslim Bosniaks in East Bosnia into the NOP was the fear among them that Hitler would cede East Bosnia to Nedić’s Serbia, thereby establishing a Great Serbia in which the Muslim Bosniaks would be subjected to genocide. The KPJ, by championing BosnianHerzegovinian self-determination, was able to win over a large part of the Muslim Bosniak population that feared the Great Serbian threat. This paper will look at the relationship between the Great Serbian threat and the influx of Muslim Bosniaks into the NOP during 1943.

Abstract:
Th ere are some symbols (images) of cities in which they come to the fore. Th ese symbols can be diverse such as city silhouettes, temples, holy places, museums, festivals, natural areas, food, drinks, and desserts. Urban symbols can be an important soft power and tourism intermediary for the promotion of both the city and the country. Many examples such as Japan’s kimono, Kyoto garden, and sushi; France’s Paris Eiff el Tower; Moldova’s wine cellars; Moscow’s Kremlin Palace in Russia; Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace in Türkiye, beaches, doner kebab and baklava; Tibet’s Buddhist temples can be cited. As can be understood from these examples, a city or a small settlement can sometimes come to the fore even more than the country itself due to its symbol. Countries that benefi t from this can provide a good promotion in terms of tourism. While there are professional works in creating an image of the city, sometimes bad examples can be seen. However, creating the image of the city, strange structures or sculptures can sometimes be used for the promotion of the city. In fact, it is an interesting method which causes a very bad appearance. Even this situation sometimes causes a funny and disgusting image. For example, ill-hewn statues of fruit-vegetable, food, animals, persons or heroes, etc. It is unnecessary but it also causes bad publicity. Instead, applied kitchens, food and beverage presentations, and museums are more remarkable. In this paper, the city image “met halva”, which has come to the fore in the fi eld of gastronomy, with the cultural animations made recently in Sivrihisar district of Eskișehir province of Türkiye will be introduced.

Abstract:
Jihad (‘struggle’, ‘striving’) in the Qur’an and Sunnah is a term with multiple inflections. The reiterated Qur’anic phrase al-jihad fi sabil Allah (‘striving in the path of God’) allows for that striving to be accomplished in myriad ways. After surveying a range of exegeses of relevant Qur’anic verses and early hadith works, the paper shows how fully Fethullah Gülen’s empha- sis on jihad as a means of personal, moral, spiritual and social renewal and transformation is in line with the earliest meanings found in exegetical and hadith works. Such a traditional, historical understanding runs counter to recent, polemical assertions that jihad is a monova- lent term requiring unremitting armed combat against non-Muslims. The paper demonstrates that contemporary Muslim thinkers like Gülen, who offer a more expansive and multi-facet- ed reading of what it means to ‘strive in the path of God’, are harking back to earlier, and thus more historically authentic, understandings of jihad and its moral purview. The Arabic term jihad has primarily come to mean “armed struggle/combat” and is frequently translated into English as “holy war.” And yet a close scrutiny of the occurrence of this term in the Qur’an and early hadith literature in particular demonstrates that this exclusive under- standing of the term cannot be supported for the formative period of Islam. In the Qur’an the phrase “fi sabil Allah,” meaning “in the path of God” or “for the sake of God,” is frequently conjoined to al-jihad. The full Arabic expression “al-jihad fi sabil Allah” means “striving/ struggling in the path of God” in the broadest sense. In the supporting hadith and exegetical literature, this human struggle for the noblest purpose – that is, to win God’s approval– is manifested in multiple ways. This paper will discuss the multiple meanings of jihad as evident in the Qur’an, exegeses, and hadith literature, particularly from the early period. After having established the broad range of meanings assigned to jihad in these sources, I will then proceed to discuss Fethullah Gülen’s understanding of jihad and its relevance for contemporary Muslims. It will be argued that his understanding of jihad replicates the polyvalence of this term in Qur’an and hadith literature and that his emphasis on both its spiritual and physical dimensions is timely and relevant today, especially in the wake of the appropriation of this term as a relentlessly mili- tant activity by contemporary extremist groups.

Abstract:
This paper describes two pedagogical practices based on Francis Bacon’s graphic Works. One in a curricular context, held at Escola Superior Artística do Porto, and the other in an extracurricular context held at Universidade Lusófona do Porto (both in Portugal), which aimed to stimulate students towards a critical analysis and interpretation of Francis Bacon's work and its recreation using contemporary digital media. This initiative was integrated in the Graphic Works of Francis Bacon exhibition at the World of Wine Museum in Vila Nova de Gaia and was the result of a collaboration between this Museum, the Academy and the Renschdael Art Foundation, a collaboration that aimed to give voice and life to a debate emerging from the exhibition of the work of art and its multimedia translation. Hence, it was intended to complement the exhibition of the artist's works with a multimedia language, through multiple interpretations and digital animations of the Painter's work made by the students and targeted at digital natives as one stream of the exhibition was to target local primary and secondary schools. The participants involved in this project came from various BAs, including Communication Design, Fine Arts and Intermediate, Visual Arts - Photography, Cinema and Audiovisual, Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia, Video Games and Multimedia Applications. This allowed to bring together multidisciplinary groups of students with different profiles and backgrounds, contributing to a myriad of results both in visual terms and technological resources, which included approaches such as: the use of techniques close to rotoscoping in which students created drawings frame by frame over the original images; the exploration of cut-out animation techniques; the recreation of Francis Bacon's work in 3D; explorations of image manipulation, editing, and video effects. In an academic context, these practices resulted in an in-depth knowledge of the work of an artist from a generation different from that of the students; an opportunity for them to work with a real client, applying in a project the knowledge obtained in various curricular units of the BAs they are attending; and the possibility of seeing their work integrated in an international exhibition. As regards to the Graphic Works of Francis Bacon exhibition, this academic project brought a new dynamic to the space combining graphic works by the Painter with multiple interpretations of a generation to whom digital media are omnipresent. In this paper, the pedagogical practices adopted in both Universities are described, projects by students are analyzed as well as the contribution that these projects brought to the exhibition through information gathered from visitors, from articles published on the event and through an interview conducted with the exhibition curator. The exhibition, according to the commissioner, Charlotte Crapts, had an "impressive" turnover bearing in mind that the country was going through Covid restrictions. In the commissioner’s view, the multimedia interventions created a bridge with the educational sector and following this, the exhibition interacted with a great number of youngsters. This was a pioneer exercise in the exhibition space that will be followed in future exhibitions.

Abstract:
Komedya, or moro-moro, is a genre of the Philippine national theater that was flourishing from the second half of the 17th century until the second half of the 19th century. The genre formation was a part of catholic missioners propaganda activities. In time, komedya became the most popular dramatic genre in colonial Philippines. The common features of komedya are: 1) the central theme of komedya is fight between Christians and Muslims, where Christians always win; 2) actions described in komedya never take place in the Philippines, but in an exotic country, for instance in Turkey or in Armenia; 3) Spanish missioners played an important role in the formation of the genre; 4) komedya is the national theater; 5) komedya is a secular genre as adventures dominate over the religious motives. In the middle of the 19th century komedya was criticized by the most progressive Filipinos for being extravagant, lacking logic and not touching upon current Philippine problems. By the beginning of the 20th century komedya was not staged anymore almost everywhere in the Philippines. Its place was taken by the other genres. A number of actions to bring komedya back to its former popularity have been undertaken from the 1970s with the great support of the cultural center of the Philippines and University of the Philippines. It is important to mention that the genre is being changed in order to correspond the needs of the modern Philippine society. For example, the Muslim conflict is not the main topic of the modern Philippine national play as it contradicts the national policy of the Philippines.

Abstract:
